Abstract:We construct global Kuranishi charts for the moduli spaces of stable pseudoholomorphic maps to a closed symplectic manifold in all genera. This is used to prove a product formula for symplectic Gromov-Witten invariants. As a consequence we obtain a Künneth formula for quantum cohomology.

We discuss the foundation of the virtual fundamental chain and cycle technique, especially its version that appeared in [FOn] and also in Section A1, Section 7.5 [FOOO4], Section 12 [FOOO7], [Fu2]. This article is independent of our earlier writing [FOOO15]. We also do not assume that the readers have any knowledge on the pseudo-holomorphic curve. Abstract: This is the first part of the article we promised at the end of [FOOO13, Section 1]. We discuss the foundation of the virtual fundamental chain and cycle technique, especially its version appeared in [FOn] and also in [FOOO4, Section A1, Section 7.5], [FOOO7, Section 12], [Fu2]. In Part 1, we focus on the construction of the virtual fundamental chain on a single space with Kuranishi structure. We mainly discuss the de Rham version and so work over $\mathbb R$-coefficients, but we also include a self-contained account of the way how to work over $\mathbb Q$-coefficients in case the dimension of the space with Kuranishi structure is $\le 1$. Part 1 of this document is independent of our earlier writing [FOOO13]. We also do not assume the reader have any knowledge on the pseudo-holomorphic curve, in Part 1. Part 2 (resp. Part 3), which will appear in the near future, discusses the case of a system of Kuranishi structures and its simultaneous perturbations (resp. the way to implement the abstract story in the study of moduli spaces of pseudo-holomorphic curves).

Abstract: This is an expository article on the theory of Kuranishi structure and is based on a series of pdf files we uploaded for the discussion of the google group named `Kuranishi' (with its administrator H. Hofer). There we replied to several questions concerning Kuranishi structure raised by K. Wehrheim. At this stage we submit this article to the e-print arXiv, all the questions or objections asked in that google group were answered, supplemented or confuted by us. We first discuss the abstract theory of Kuranishi structure and virtual fundamental chain/cycle. This part can be read independently from other parts. We then describe the construction of Kuranishi structure on the moduli space of pseudoholomorphic curves, including the complete analytic detail of the gluing construction as well as the smoothness of the resulting Kuranishi structure. The case of S^1 equivariant Kuranishi structure which appears in the study of time independent Hamiltonian and the moduli space of Floer's equation is included.

Abstract: We describe the proof that the period map from the Torelli space of Calabi-Yau manifolds to the classifying space of polarized Hodge structures is an embedding. The proof is based on the constructions of holomorphic affine structure on the Teichm\"uller space and Hodge metric completion of the Torelli space. A canonical global holomorphic section of the holomorphic $(n, 0)$ class on the Teichm\"uller space is constructed.

Abstract:We use equivariant methods to define and study the orbifold K-theory of an orbifold X. Adapting techniques from equivariant K-theory, we construct a Chern character and exhibit a multiplicative decomposition for K * orb (X)⊗ℚ, in particular showing that it is additively isomorphic to the orbifold cohomology of X. A number of examples are provided. We then use the theory of projective representations to define the notion of twisted orbifold K–theory in the presence of discrete torsion. An explicit expression for this is obtained in the case of a global quotient.

Abstract:A Kuranishi space is a topological space with a Kuranishi structure, defined by Fukaya and Ono. Kuranishi structures occur naturally on moduli spaces of J-holomorphic curves in symplectic geometry. This paper is a brief introduction to the author's book <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="0707.3572" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/0707.3572">arXiv:0707.3572</a>. Let Y be an orbifold and R a Q-algebra. We define the Kuranishi homology KH_*(Y;R) of Y with coefficients in R. The chain complex KC_*(Y;R) defining KH_*(Y;R) is spanned over R by [X,f,G], for X a compact oriented Kuranishi space with corners, f : X --> Y smooth, and G "gauge-fixing data" which makes Aut(X,f,G) finite. Our main result is that KH_*(Y;R) is isomorphic to singular homology. We define a Poincare dual theory of Kuranishi cohomology KH^*(Y;R), isomorphic to compactly-supported cohomology, using a cochain complex KC^*(Y;R) spanned over R by [X,f,C], for X a compact Kuranishi space with corners, f : X --> Y a submersion, and C "co-gauge-fixing data". We also define simpler theories of Kuranishi bordism KB_*(Y;R) and Kuranishi cobordism KB^*(Y;R), for R a commutative ring. These are new topological invariants, and we show they are very large. These theories are powerful new tools in symplectic geometry. Defining virtual cycles and chains for moduli spaces of J-holomorphic curves is trivial in Kuranishi (co)homology. There is no need to perturb moduli spaces, and no problems with transversality. This gives major simplifications in Lagrangian Floer cohomology.

Abstract:Using the global Kuranishi charts constructed in \cite{HS22}, we define gravitational descendants and equivariant Gromov-Witten invariants for general symplectic manifolds. We prove that that these invariants, equivariant and non-equivariant, satisfy the axioms of Kontsevich and Manin and their generalisations. A virtual localisation formula holds in this setting; we use it derive an explicit formula for the equivariant GW invariants of a class of Hamiltonian manifolds. A comparison with the GW invariants of \cite{RT97} is given in the semipositive case.

Abstract:By using K-theory, we construct a map from the tangent space to the Hilbert scheme at a point Y to the local cohomology group. And we use this map to answer affirmatively(after slight modification) a question by Mark Green and Phillip Griffiths in [8] on constructing a map from the tangent space to the Hilbert scheme to the tangent space to the cycle group.

Abstract:This is the second part of our ongoing project on the relations between Gopakumar-Vafa BPS invariants (GV) and quantum K-theory (QK) on the Calabi--Yau threefolds (CY3). We show that on CY3 a genus zero quantum K-invariant can be written as a linear combination of a finite number of Gopakumar--Vafa invariants with coefficients from an explicit ``multiple cover formula''. Conversely, GV can be determined by QK in a similar manner. The technical heart is a proof of a remarkable conjecture by Hans Jockers and Peter Mayr. This result is consistent with the ``virtual Clemens conjecture'' for the Calabi--Yau threefolds. A heuristic derivation of the relation between QK and GV via the virtual Clemens conjecture and the multiple cover formula is also given.

Abstract:We study the virtual Euler characteristics of sheaves over Quot schemes of curves, establishing that these invariants fit into a topological quantum field theory (TQFT) valued in $\mathbb{Z}[[q]]$. Utilizing Quot scheme compactifications alongside the TQFT framework, we derive presentations of the small quantum $K$-ring of the Grassmannian. Our approach offers a new method for finding explicit formulas for quantum $K$-invariants.

Abstract:We introduce a category of Kuranishi presentations, whose objects are a variant of the Kuranishi structures introduced by Fukaya and Ono, and which can be seen as a refinement of the version studied by Pardon. We then formulate the notion of virtual chains categorically as a natural transformation between two functors from this category to the category of chain complexes; we call such a datum 'a theory of virtual counts'. To show that this definition carries non-trivial content, we then construct a multicategory whose objects are Kuranishi flow categories, and show that a theory of virtual counts determines a multifunctor to the multicategory of chain complexes. We then implement this construction in the setting of Hamiltonian Floer theory, borrowing from some joint work with Groman and Varolgunes, yielding a construction of Hamiltonian Floer groups (and operations on them) as an output of this machine. We plan to provide a similar account for Lagrangian Floer theory in subsequent joint work.

Abstract:We use a determinant functor to describe a map from Grothendieck group to local cohomology. This map is closely related with negative K-groups and generalizes a method of Green and Griffiths. Moreover, we obtain a natural transformation from the local Hilbert functor to the first K-theoretic cycle groups, which are variants of Balmer's tensor triangular Chow groups.

Abstract:Given an algebraic curve $X$ of genus $\ge 3$, one can construct two algebraic $1$-cycles, the Ceresa cycle and the Gross-Kudla-Schoen modified diagonal cycle, each living in the Jacobian of $X$ and the triple product $X \times X \times X$ respectively. These two cycles are homologically trivial but are of infinite order in their corresponding Chow groups for a very general curve over $\mathbb{C}$. From the work of S-W Zhang, for a fixed curve these two cycles are non-torsion in their corresponding Chow groups if and only if one of them is. In this paper, we prove that the Ceresa and Gross-Kudla-Schoen cycles associated to a modular curve $X$ are non-torsion in the corresponding Chow groups when $X=\Gamma \backslash \overline{\mathbb{H}}$ for certain congruence subgroups $\Gamma\subset {\rm SL}_2(\mathbb{Z})$. We obtain the result by studying a pullback formula for special divisors by the diagonal map $X \hookrightarrow X \times X$.

Abstract:Using the formalism of Grothendieck's derivators, we construct `the universal localizing invariant of dg categories'. By this, we mean a morphism U_l from the pointed derivator associated with the Morita homotopy theory of dg categories to a triangulated strong derivator M^loc such that U_l commutes with filtered homotopy colimits, preserves the point, sends each exact sequence of dg categories to a triangle and is universal for these properties. Similary, we construct the `the universal additive invariant of dg categories', i.e. the universal morphism of derivators U_a to a strong triangulated derivator M^add which satisfies the first two properties but the third one only for split exact sequences. We prove that Waldhausen K-theory appears as a mapping space in the target of the universal additive invariant. This is the first conceptual characterization of Quillen-Waldhausen's K-theory since its definition in the early 70's. As an application we obtain for free the higher Chern characters from K-theory to cyclic homology.
