Abstract:This paper focuses on the set HAC of 1-1 Ackermann axioms of choice in second-order predicate logic with Henkin interpretation (HPL). To answer a question posed by Michael Rathjen, we restrict the proof that the basic Fraenkel model of second order is a model of all n-m Ackermann axioms to the case where the Ackermann axioms are in HAC. In the second part, we show the independence of Hartogs' version of the law of trichotomy (TR) from HAC in HPL. A generalization of the latter proof implies the independence of TR from all Ackermann axioms in HPL. We conclude the paper with an open problem.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
### The problems the paper attempts to solve The paper "AC and the Independence of the Law of Trichotomy in Second - Order Henkin Logic" mainly explores the independence issues between the Axiom of Choice (AC) and its related forms and the Law of Trichotomy (TR) in Second - Order Henkin Logic (HPL). Specifically, the paper focuses on the following two main problems: 1. **Prove that the Basic Fraenkel Model is a model of 1 - 1 Ackermann Axioms of Choice (HAC)**: - By restricting the proof of the Basic Fraenkel Model, the author shows that when the Ackermann Axioms of Choice belong to HAC, this model satisfies these axioms. This answers a question raised by Michael Rathjen. 2. **Prove that the Law of Trichotomy (TR) is independent of HAC in HPL**: - The author further shows that Hartogs' version of the Law of Trichotomy (TR) is independent of HAC in HPL. This result can be generalized to the independence of all Ackermann Axioms of Choice in HPL. This answers a question raised by Stephen Mackereth. ### The main contributions of the paper - **Theoretical basis**: Based on the theoretical basis provided by Günter Asser in [3], the paper analyzes the strength and mutual relations of the Axiom of Choice and other second - order formulas in HPL. - **Model construction**: The paper describes in detail how to use Permutation Models to prove the above - mentioned independence. In particular, the paper discusses the properties of the Basic Fraenkel Model and the Finite Union of Fraenkel Models. - **Technical details**: The paper provides detailed proof steps, including the definitions and properties of Finite Stabilizers, Choice Functions and Permutations. ### Conclusion Through these proofs, the paper confirms the independence of HAC and TR in HPL and provides an open problem for further research. These results not only answer some previously raised questions but also provide a new perspective for further exploring the independence of the Axiom of Choice and other logical principles in second - order logic.
