Abstract:This article introduces the Hartwig-Spindelböck decomposition of dual complex matrices. We provide representations of some generalized inverses using this decomposition. Further, several characterizations are established for a complex matrix to be Hermitian, normal and new dual EP matrix.

Abstract:Let an n×n complex matrix A be such that I+A is invertible. The Cayley transform of A , denoted by C(A) , is defined as C(A)=(I+A)−1(I−A). Fallat et al. (Electron. J. Linear Algebra, 9:190-196, 2002) and Mondal et al. (Linear Algebra Appl., 681:1–20, 2024) studied the Cayley transform of a matrix A in the context of P-matrices, H-matrices, M-matrices, totally positive matrices, positive definite matrices, almost skew-Hermitian matrices, and semipositive matrices. In this paper, the investigation of the Cayley transform is continued for Toeplitz matrices, circulant matrices, unipotent matrices, and dual matrices. An expression of the Cayley transform for dual matrices is established. It is shown that the Cayley transform of a dual symmetric matrix is always a dual symmetric matrix. The Cayley transform of a dual skew-symmetric matrix is discussed. The results are illustrated with examples.

Abstract:Dual complex numbers can represent rigid body motion in 2D spaces. Dual complex matrices are linked with screw theory, and have potential applications in various areas. In this paper, we study low rank approximation of dual complex matrices. We define $2$-norm for dual complex vectors, and Frobenius norm for dual complex matrices. These norms are nonnegative dual numbers. We establish the unitary invariance property of dual complex matrices. We study eigenvalues of square dual complex matrices, and show that an $n \times n$ dual complex Hermitian matrix has exactly $n$ eigenvalues, which are dual numbers. We present a singular value decomposition (SVD) theorem for dual complex matrices, define ranks and appreciable ranks for dual complex matrices, and study their properties. We establish an Eckart-Young like theorem for dual complex matrices, and present an algorithm framework for low rank approximation of dual complex matrices via truncated SVD. The SVD of dual complex matrices also provides a basic tool for Principal Component Analysis (PCA) via these matrices. Numerical experiments are reported.

Abstract:Hermitian tensors are generalizations of Hermitian matrices, but they have very different properties. Every complex Hermitian tensor is a sum of complex Hermitian rank-1 tensors. However, this is not true for the real case. We study basic properties for Hermitian tensors such as Hermitian decompositions and Hermitian ranks. For canonical basis tensors, we determine their Hermitian ranks and decompositions. For real Hermitian tensors, we give a full characterization for them to have Hermitian decompositions over the real field. In addition to traditional flattening, Hermitian tensors specially have Hermitian and Kronecker flattenings, which may give different lower bounds for Hermitian ranks. We also study other topics such as eigenvalues, positive semidefiniteness, sum of squares representations, and separability.

In this paper, we extend the notion of singular value decompositions to finite complexes of real vector spaces. We provide two methods to compute them and present several applications.

Abstract:In this paper, we present the definitions of appreciable index and dual index of a dual real square matrix. Then, we introduce the unique dual core-nilpotent (D-C-N) decomposition that exists universally for all dual real square matrices. By applying the decomposition, we get a characterization of the dual Drazin generalized inverse (D-Drazin), introduce D-Drazin, D-C-N, C-sharp C-N (C-C-N) and G-sharp C-N (G-C-N) binary relations of dual real matrices, and discuss relevant properties of these binary relations. We prove that D-Drazin binary relation is a pre-order, and D-C-N, C-C-N and G-C-N binary relations are partial orders. Furthermore, we discuss relationships among binary relations mentioned above.

Abstract:We analyze the set of real and complex Hadamard matrices with additional symmetry constrains. In particular, we link the problem of existence of maximally entangled multipartite states of $2k$ subsystems with $d$ levels each to the set of complex Hadamard matrices of order $N=d^k$. To this end, we investigate possible subsets of such matrices which are, dual, strongly dual ($H=H^{\rm R}$ or $H=H^{\rm\Gamma}$), two-unitary ($H^R$ and $H^{\Gamma}$ are unitary), or $k$-unitary. Here $X^{\rm R}$ denotes reshuffling of a matrix $X$ describing a bipartite system, and $X^{\rm \Gamma}$ its partial transpose. Such matrices find several applications in quantum many-body theory, tensor networks and classification of multipartite quantum entanglement and imply a broad class of analytically solvable quantum models in $1+1$ dimensions.

Abstract:Two representations for the Drazin inverse of a $2\times2$ block matrix $M=[{A \atop C}\;{B \atop D}]$, where $A$ and $D$ are square matrices, in terms of the Drazin inverses of $A$ and $D$ have been recently developed under the assumptions that $C(I-AA^{D})=0$ and $(I-AA^{D})B=0$, and that the generalized Schur complement $D-CA^{D}B$ is either nonsingular or zero. These two representations of $M^{D}$ are extended to the case where $C(I-AA^{D})=0$ and $(I-AA^{D})B=0$ are substituted with $C(I-AA^{D})B=0$ and $A(I-AA^{D})B=0$. Moreover, upper bounds for the index of $M$ are studied. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the new results.

Abstract:Representations of {1,2,3}-inverses, {1,2,4}-inverses, and Drazin inverse of a partitioned matrix M = [GRAPHICS] related to the generalized Schur complement are studied. First, we give the necessary and sufficient conditions under which {1,2,3}-inverses, {1,2,4}-inverses, and group inverse of a 2 x 2 block matrix can be represented in the Banachiewicz-Schur forms. Some results from the paper of Cvetkovic-ilic, 2009, are generalized. Also, we expressed the quotient property and the first Sylvester identity in terms of the generalized Schur complement.

Abstract:We consider 9 Gaussian matrix ensembles characterized by single symmetry among the 38-fold symmetry classification classes of non-Hermitian random matrices, and establish exact duality formulae of certain observables between them. Particularly, averaged products of K characteristic polynomials in an N×N matrix ensemble can be expressed in terms of another K×K matrix ensemble. Our method is to combine matrix-valued heat equations and differential identities for determinants and Pfaffians and has more possible applications.

Abstract:Innovative dual complex structure-preserving algorithms are introduced to develop efficient and resilient algorithms for singular value decomposition of dual quaternion matrices. Under the framework of dual complex matrices, a novel dual complex structure-preserving algorithm is introduced for dual quaternion Householder transformations and dual complex unitary matrices derived from dual quaternion unitization. This algorithm is initially proposed and subsequently applied to compute the bidiagonal form of dual quaternion matrices. Drawing on the correlation between the singular values of the dual quaternion matrix and its bidiagonal dual number matrix, the dual complex structure-preserving algorithm for dual quaternion singular value decomposition is presented. Numerical experiments are conducted to showcase the efficiency and accuracy of the newly proposed algorithms. Additionally, we leverage dual complex matrices for representing color images, utilizing the proposed algorithms for singular value decomposition of these matrices. The singular value decomposition of dual complex matrices enables the compression of color images. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of this method, showcasing its utility in image compression tasks.

Abstract:For any A ? Cn?m, the set of all n by m complex matrices, Mosic and Stanimirovic [14] introduced the composite OMP inverse of A by its outer inverse with the prescribed range, null space and Moore-Penrose inverse. This inverse unifies the core inverse, DMP inverse and Moore-Penrose inverse. In this paper, we mainly introduce and investigate a class of generalized inverses in complex matrices. Also, it is proved that this generalized inverse coincides with the OMP inverse. Finally, the defined inverse is related to OMP-inverses, W-core inverses and (b, c)-core inverses in the context of matrices.

Abstract:The Capelli identities claim $det(A)det(B) = det(AB+correction)$ for certain matrices with noncommutative entries. They have applications in representation theory and integrable systems. We propose new examples of these identities, constructed according to the following principle. For several known identities for $n$ by $n$ matrices we construct new identity for $2n$ by $2n$ matrices where each element $z$ of the original matrix is substituted by 2x2 matrix of the form $[real(z) ~imag(z); ~ -imag(z) ~ real(z)]$, i.e. we view the original identity as complex valued, while the new identity is its real form (decomplexification). It appears that "decomplexification" affects non-trivially the "correction term". It becomes tridiagonal matrix, in contrast to the diagonal in the classical case. The key result is an extension to the non-commutative setting of the fact that the determinant of the decomplexified matrix is equal to the square module of the determinant of the original matrix (in non-commutative setting the corrections are necessary). The decomplexified Capelli's identities are corollaries of this fact and standard Capelli identities. We also discuss analogs of the Cayley identity; observe that the Capelli determinant coincides with the Duflo image of the standard determinant; give short proof of the Cayley identity via Harish-Chandra's radial part calculation. The main motivation for us is a recent paper by An Huang (<a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1102.2657" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1102.2657">arXiv:1102.2657</a>). From our viewpoint his result is a "dequaternionification" of 1 by 1 Capelli identity. Apparently it can be extended to $n$ by $n$ case, but our approach should be somehow modified for this. The paper aims to be accessible and interesting not only for experts. It gives brief review of Capelli identities, applications, their relation with Wick quantization, Duflo map, some open issues, etc.

Abstract:In this article, we continue our study of 'Frobenius structures' and symplectic spectral invariants in the context of symplectic spinors. By studying the case of $C^1$-small Hamiltonian mappings on symplectic manifolds $M$ admitting a metaplectic structure and a parallel $\hat O(n)$-reduction of its metaplectic frame bundle we derive how the construction of 'singularly rigid' resp. 'self-dual' pairs of irreducible Frobenius structures associated to this Hamiltonian mapping $\Phi$ leads to a Hopf-algebra-type structure on the set of irreducible Frobenius structures. We then generalize this construction and define abstractly conditions under which 'dual pairs' associated to a given $C^1$-small Hamiltonian mapping emerge, these dual pairs are essentially pairs $(s_1, J_1), (s_2, J_2)$ of closed sections of the cotangent bundle $T^*M$ and (in general singular) compatible almost complex structures on $M$ satisfying certain integrability conditions involving a Koszul bracket. In the second part of this paper, we translate these characterizing conditions for general 'dual pairs' of Frobenius structures associated to a $C^1$-small Hamiltonian system into the notion of matrix factorization. We propose an algebraic setting involving modules over certain fractional ideals of function rings on $M$ so that the set of 'dual pairs' in the above sense and the set of matrix factorizations associated to these modules stand in bijective relation. We prove, in the real-analytic case, a Riemann Roch-type theorem relating a certain Euler characteristic arising from a given matrix factorization in the above sense to (integral) cohomological data on $M$ using Cheeger-Simons-type differential characters, derived from a given pair $(s_1, J_1), (s_2, J_2)$. We propose extensions of these techniques to the case of 'geodesic convexity-smallness' of $\Phi$ and to the case of general Hamiltonian systems on $M$.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the necessary and sufficient conditions for solving a dual split quaternion matrix equation AXB = C, and present the general solution expression when the solvability conditions are met. As an application, we delve into the necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a Hermitian solution to this equation by using a newly defined real representation method. Furthermore, we obtain the solutions for the dual split quaternion matrix equations AX = C and XB = C. Finally, we provide a numerical example to demonstrate the findings of this paper.

Abstract:The dual Drazin inverse is an important dual generalized inverse. In this paper, to extend it we introduce the weak dual Drazin inverse which is unique and exists for any square dual matrix. When the dual Drazin inverse exists, it coincides with the weak dual Drazin inverse. In addition, we introduce the weak dual group inverse and apply it to studying one type restricted dual matrix equation.
