Abstract:In this paper, we consider the well-known Lehmer sequence and obtain the Lehmer orbit of some special groups of nilpotency class . The period of the Lehmer sequences in these groups is studied and shown to be a multiple of the period of the Lehmer orbits. Then, three RSA algorithms are presented using the Lehmer sequences and Lehmer orbits of groups. This is the first application of these sequences and orbits in cryptography. The security of the algorithms is also examined.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the RSA public key cryptosystem in a special case with the private exponent d larger than the public exponent e . When N 0.258 ⩽ e ⩽ N 0.854 , d > e and satisfies the given conditions, we can perform cryptanalytic attacks based on the LLL lattice basis reduction algorithm. The idea is an extension of Boneh and Durfee’s researches on low private key RSA, and provides a new solution to finding weak keys in RSA cryptosystems.

Abstract:The security of widely-used public-key cryptographic protocols like RSA, Diffie–Hellman key exchange and the Digital Signature Algorithm (DSA) is under threat due to the emergence of quantum computers. Shor's groundbreaking quantum algorithm poses a significant risk by efficiently factoring large integers into their prime factors, compromising RSA security. Additionally, it solves the Discrete Logarithm Problem, impacting certain Diffie–Hellman-based cryptosystems and digital signatures. Given this, it is imperative to enhance our current cryptographic tools for the post-quantum era, aiming to make it impractical, even with quantum algorithms, to breach the security of new cryptosystems. Prominent alternatives include elliptic curve and lattice-based cryptography, with exploration into other algebraic systems featuring difficult problems to ensure security. This paper establishes that systems based on the difficulty of inverting group ring elements are not quantum-resistant.

Abstract:In this paper we present new arithmetical and algebraic results following the work of Babindamana and al. on hyperbolas and describe in the new results an approach to attacking a RSA-type modulus based on continued fractions, independent and not bounded by the size of the private key $d$ nor the public exponent $e$ compared to Wiener's attack. When successful, this attack is bounded by $\displaystyle\mathcal{O}\left( b\log{\alpha_{j4}}\log{(\alpha_{i3}+\alpha_{j3})}\right)$ with $b=10^{y}$, $\alpha_{i3}+\alpha_{j3}$ a non trivial factor of $n$ and $\alpha_{j4}$ such that $(n+1)/(n-1)=\alpha_{i4}/\alpha_{j4}$. The primary goal of this attack is to find a point $\displaystyle X_{\alpha}=\left(-\alpha_{3}, \ \alpha_{3}+1 \right) \in \mathbb{Z}^{2}_{\star}$ that satisfies $\displaystyle\left\langle X_{\alpha_{3}}, \ P_{3} \right\rangle =0$ from a convergent of $\displaystyle\frac{\alpha_{i4}}{\alpha_{j4}}+\delta$, with $P_{3}\in \mathcal{B}_{n}(x, y)_{\mid_{x\geq 4n}}$. We finally present some experimental examples. We believe these results constitute a new direction in RSA Cryptanalysis using continued fractions independently of parameters $e$ and $d$.

Abstract:RSA public key cryptosystem is the “de-facto” standard, provides confidentiality and privacy security services over the internet. At Eurocrypt 1999, Boneh and Durfee proposed a polynomial time attacks on RSA small decryption key exponent. Their attacks worked by exploiting the lattice and sub lattice structure using lattice based Coppersmith's method to solve a modular polynomials, when d <; N 0.284 and d <; N 0.292 respectively. In this work, we propose a new attack on some special case of Boneh and Durfee's attack method with respect to large decryption exponent (i.e. d = N > e = N α , where α and ε are the encryption and decryption exponents respectively) for some α ≤ ε. The condition d > φ(N) - N ε satisfies our devised attack and the experimental outcome certifies that an RSA cryptosystem with large decryption exponent successfully revealed the weak keys through lattice basis reduction method.

Abstract:RSA (Rivest-Shamir-Adleman) cryptosystem is the most popular asymmetric key cryptographic algorithm used in computer science and information security. Recently, an RSA-like cryptosystem was proposed using a novel product that arises from a cubic field connected to the cubic Pell equation. The relevant key equation is e d ≡ 1 mod ( p 2 + p + 1 ) ( q 2 + q + 1 ) with N = p q. This RSA variant is claimed to be robust against the Wiener's attack and hence the bit-size of the private key could be shorter, namely d < N 1 / 4. In this paper, we explore the further security analysis and investigate the potential small private exponent attack. We show that such RSA variant is particularly vulnerable to the lattice-based method. To be specific, we can carry out the lattice-based small private exponent attack if d < N 2 − 2, which is less secure than the standard RSA. Furthermore, we conduct numerical experiments to verify the validity of the proposed attack.

Abstract:Technology of RSA (Ron Rivest, AdiShamir and Leonard Adleman) signcrypt was discussed. On the basis of universal padding from Coron's method, a new hybrid signcryption scheme using RSA was proposed. Assuming the intractability of RSA problem, the scheme was provably secure under the random oracle model. The simulation indicated that this scheme could signcrypt the message of any length and provide the non-repudiation in a simple manner, and its communication overload was only one RSA modular length. The scheme exceeds the traditional signature to encryption scheme in the bandwidth of message recovery.
RSA with balanced short exponents and its application to entity authentication

Abstract:In typical RSA, it is impossible to create a key pair (e,d) such that both are simultaneously much shorter than φ (N). This is because if d is selected first, then e will be of the same order of magnitude as φ (N), and vice versa. At Asiacrypt'99, Sun et al. designed three variants of RSA using prime factors p and q of unbalanced size. The first RSA variant is an attempt to make the private exponent d short below N0.25 and N0.292 which are the lower bounds of d for a secure RSA as argued first by Wiener and then by Boneh and Durfee. The second RSA variant is constructed in such a way that both d and e have the same bit-length $\frac{1}{2}\log _{2}N+56$. The third RSA variant is constructed by such a method that allows a trade-off between the lengths of d and e. Unfortunately, at Asiacrypt'2000, Durfee and Nguyen broke the illustrated instances of the first RSA variant and the third RSA variant by solving small roots to trivariate modular polynomial equations. Moreover, they showed that the instances generated by these three RSA variants with unbalanced p and q in fact become more insecure than those instances, having the same sizes of exponents as the former, in RSA with balanced p and q. In this paper, we focus on designing a new RSA variant with balanced d and e, and balanced p and q in order to make such an RSA variant more secure. Moreover, we also extend this variant to another RSA variant in which allows a trade-off between the lengths of d and e. Based on our RSA variants, an application to entity authentication for defending the stolen-secret attack is presented.

Abstract:The standard RSA scheme provides the key equation (edequiv 1pmod {varphi (N)}) for (N=pq), where (varphi (N)=(p-1)(q-1)) is Euler quotient (or Euler’s totient function), e and d are the public and private keys, respectively. It has been extended to the following variants with modified Euler quotient (omega (N)=(p^2-1)(q^2-1)), which in turn indicates the modified key equation is (edequiv 1pmod {omega (N)}).

Abstract:We initiate the study of computational problems on elliptic curve isogeny graphs defined over RSA moduli. We conjecture that several variants of the neighbor-search problem over these graphs are hard, and provide a comprehensive list of cryptanalytic attempts on these problems. Moreover, based on the hardness of these problems, we provide a construction of groups with infeasible inversion, where the underlying groups are the ideal class groups of imaginary quadratic orders. Recall that in a group with infeasible inversion, computing the inverse of a group element is required to be hard, while performing the group operation is easy. Motivated by the potential cryptographic application of building a directed transitive signature scheme, the search for a group with infeasible inversion was initiated in the theses of Hohenberger and Molnar (2003). Later it was also shown to provide a broadcast encryption scheme by Irrer et al. (2004). However, to date the only case of a group with infeasible inversion is implied by the much stronger primitive of self-bilinear map constructed by Yamakawa et al. (2014) based on the hardness of factoring and indistinguishability obfuscation (iO). Our construction gives a candidate without using iO.

Abstract:RSA stands as a widely adopted method within asymmetric cryptography, commonly applied for digital signature validation and message encryption. The security of RSA relies on the challenge of integer factorization, a problem considered either computationally infeasible or highly intricate, especially when dealing with sufficiently large security parameters. Effective exploits of the integer factorization problem in RSA can allow an adversary to assume the identity of the key holder and decrypt such confidential messages. The keys employed in secure hardware are particularly significant due to the typically greater value of the information they safeguard, such as in the context of securing payment transactions. In general, RSA faces various attacks exploiting weaknesses in its key equations. This paper introduces a new vulnerability that enables the concurrent factorization of multiple RSA moduli. By working with pairs (Ni,ei) and a fixed value y satisfying the Diophantine equation eixi2−y2φ(Ni)=zi , we successfully factorized these moduli simultaneously using the lattice basis reduction technique. Notably, our research expands the scope of RSA decryption exponents considered as insecure.

Abstract:In this study, we revisit the RSA public key cryptosystem in some special case of Boneh and Durfee's attack when the private key d assumes to be larger than the public key e . The attack in this study is the variation of an approach adopted by Luo et al. (2009) based on large decryption exponent. They had chosen a large private key ( d > e ) and found the weak keys in some specific range between N 0.258 ≤ e ≤ N 0.857 . We highlight the shortcomings and new improvements in our study with more refined bound analysis up to the range between N 0.104 ≤ e ≤ N 0.923 . Our experimental results revealed more refined bounds using lattice-based Coppersmith's method. In our experimental yield, we find the small roots of the devised polynomial, which helps to factorise the RSA modulus of size up to 1,024-bits. We also measure the probability of a specific range of weak keys, which further certify our results about weak keys in an RSA constrained secret key environment.

Abstract:We present new variants of an RSA whose key generation algorithms output two distinct RSA key pairs having the same public and private exponents. This family of variants, called dual RSA, can be used in scenarios that require two instances of RSA with the advantage of reducing the storage requirements for the keys. Two applications for dual RSA, blind signatures and authentication/secrecy, are proposed. In addition, we also provide the security analysis of dual RSA. Compared to normal RSA, the security boundary should be raised when applying dual RSA to the types of small-d, small-e, and rebalanced-RSA.

Abstract:The field of cryptography has grown significantly with the advent of information and communication technologies due to the increasing complexity of cyber threats and rising security requirements. This evolution has come with the creation of new cryptosystems and improvements to current ones. This study is the first to explore the RSA approach in the framework of t-intuitionistic fuzzy subgroups. This technique makes group-based cryptographic operations safer when there are unclear relationships and hesitations. This supports the complex and uncertain nature of subgroup membership, allowing for much more significant representations of the degrees of belonging, non-belonging, and hesitancy for the group elements along parameter 't'. The t-intuitionistic fuzzy RSA technique employs a t-intuitionistic fuzzy subgroup to address cryptosystem ambiguity, fuzziness, and imprecision. Consequently, inaccurate cryptographic data is more effectively represented, manipulated, and protected. Furthermore, this technique enhances the current level of fuzzy cryptography. The t-intuitionistic fuzzy RSA algorithms are of theoretical and practical value, as they significantly contribute towards developing fuzzy cryptography, fuzzy algebraic structures, and decision support systems. In this paper, the notions of t-intuitionistic fuzzy numbers and triangular t-intuitionistic fuzzy numbers are introduced. A new RSA cryptosystem based on a t-intuitionistic fuzzy subgroup is proposed in which the plaintext and the ciphertext are obtained in terms of t-intuitionistic fuzzy numbers and triangular t-intuitionistic fuzzy numbers. In addition, the significance of the concept of the t-intuitionistic fuzzy subgroup is highlighted as a suitable alternative tool to secure the data under consideration. In addition, the practical effect of the proposed methods is also investigated in this study. A mathematical mechanism is presented to implement the t-intuitionistic fuzzy RSA algorithm. Finally, a comparative analysis of the developed technique is presented with some existing methods to showcase the applicability and superiority of the recently developed method.

Abstract:In this paper, we address the security evaluation issue of the RSA cryptosystem with implicitly related private keys. We formulate the attack scenario and propose a novel implicit-key attack using the lattice-based method. When given public information $(N_1,e_1)$, $(N_2,e_2)$ and the amount of shared bits of the private keys $d_1$ and $d_2$, one can conduct the implicit-key attack to factor $N_1, N_2$ in polynomial time under a certain condition. We show that the RSA cryptosystem is more insecure when taking the implicitly related keys into consideration. The experimental results are provided to verify the validity of our proposed attack.

Abstract:In this paper, a new chaos stream cipher was proposed based on the chaos theory of nonlinear dynamics. Combining this stream cipher with RSA algorithm, we construct a new hybrid cryptosystem. The security of this system is equal to that of RSA, but with much less computing amount. This system is suitable for encryption of both messages based on letter and non-letter. A instance of encrypting of letter message was given. If encrypt non-letter message, it will be simpler.

Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to propose an asymmetric double-image encryption scheme based on phase masks computed by elliptic curve cryptography. A hybrid gyrator Hartley transform augmented with an elliptic curve phase mask is used in this scheme to enhance security. Two new public decryption keys are created by encrypting the plain text with two-stage phase keys. A public key is generated during an encryption process, whereas a private key is generated before the encryption process begins. In addition to introducing nonlinearity, it enhances the security of the system. As part of the encryption operation, plain text keys are unscrambled. The system is also more resistant to selective plaintext attacks, and the decryption keys are more sensitive. Trimming the phase expands the room for the key the confidentiality of cryptography systems. An estimation of the error between the image input and the image retrieved is used to determine the effectiveness of the cryptosystem. Various potential attacks can be mitigated by the proposed technique that provides innumerable security keys. The effectiveness and security of the proposed technique are verified by numerical simulations. In order to validate and evaluate the proposed solution's viability, strength, experimental results and security analysis are presented.
