Abstract:Many invariants of affine semigroups can be studied from their Poincaré series, we offer and present several closed formulas for them. Moreover, these formulas have elementary proofs and are presented in two distinct families: one characterized by its topological nature and the other by its purely combinatorial approach.

Abstract:A theory of Poincaré series is developed for Lobachevsky space of arbitrary dimension. For a general non-uniform lattice a Selberg-Kloosterman zeta function is introduced. It has meromorphic continuation to the plane with poles at the corresponding automorphic spectrum. When the lattice is a unit group of a rational quadratic form, the Selberg-Kloosterman zeta function is computed explicitly in terms of exponential sums. In this way a non-trivial Ramanujan-like bound analogous to “Selberg’s 3/16 bound” is proved in general.
On real analogues of the Poincaré series

Abstract:There exist several equivalent equations for the Poincaré series of a collection of valuations on the ring of germs of functions on a complex analytic variety. We give definitions of the Poincaé series of a collection of valuations in the real setting (i.e., on the ring of germs of functions on a real analytic variety), compute them for the case of one curve valuation on the plane and discuss some of their properties.

Vanishing of Poincaré series for congruence subgroups

Abstract:We consider the problem of the vanishing of Poincaré series for congruence subgroups. Denoting by $P_{k,m,N}$ the Poincaré series of weight $k$ and index $m$ for the group $\Gamma_0(N)$, we show that for certain choices of parameters $k,m,N$, the Poincaré series does not vanish. Our methods improve on previous results of Rankin (1980) and Mozzochi (1989).

Abstract:In earlier papers there were given formulae for the Poincare series of multi-index filtrations on the ring of germs of functions of two variables defined by collections of valuations corresponding to (reducible) plane curve singularities and by collections of divisorial ones. It was shown that the Poincare series of a collection of divisorial valuations determines the topology of the collection of divisors. Here we give a formula for the Poincare series of a general collection of valuations on the ring of germs of functions of two variables centred at the origin and prove a generalization of the statement that the Poincare series determines the topology of the collection.

Abstract:The discrete group generated by reflections of the sphere, or Euclidean space, or hyperbolic space are said to be Coxeter groups of, respectively, spherical, or Euclidean, or hyperbolic type. The hyperbolic Coxeter groups are said to be (quasi-)Lann\'er if the tiles covering the space are of finite volume and all (resp. some of them) are compact. For any Coxeter group stratified by the length of its elements, the Poincar\'e series (a.k.a. growth function) is the generating function of the cardinalities of sets of elements of equal length. Solomon established that, for ANY Coxeter group, its Poincar\'e series is a rational function with zeros somewhere on the unit circle centered at the origin, and gave a recurrence formula. The explicit expression of the Poincar\'e series was known for the spherical and Euclidean Coxeter groups, and 3-generated Coxeter groups, and (with mistakes) Lann\'er groups. Here we give a lucid description of the numerator of the Poincar\'e series of any Coxeter group, and denominators for each (quasi-)Lann\'er group, and review the scene. We give an interpretation of some coefficients of the denominator of the Poincar\'e series. The non-real poles behave as in Enestr\"om's theorem (lie in a narrow annulus) though the coefficients of the denominators do not satisfy theorem's requirements.
Real Poincaré series of a plane divisorial valuation

Abstract:Earlier, there was computed the Poincaré series of a valuation or of a collection of valuations on the ring of germs of holomorphic functions in two variables. For a collection of several plane curve valuations it appeared to coincide with the Alexander polynomial of the corresponding algebraic link. Recently, the authors defined Poincaré series of a valuation or of a collection of valuations in the real setting. (Actually, there were defined three versions of them, however, one of them was found to be ``not computable''.) These two Poincar'e series were computed for one plane curve valuation. Here we compute them for a plane divisorial valuation.

Abstract:Using Poincaré series of $ K $-finite matrix coefficients of integrable antiholomorphic discrete series representations of $ \mathrm{Sp}_{2n}(\mathbb R) $, we construct a spanning set for the space $ S_\rho(\Gamma) $ of Siegel cusp forms of weight $ \rho $ for $ \Gamma $, where $ \rho $ is an irreducible polynomial representation of $ \mathrm{GL}_n(\mathbb C) $ of highest weight $ \omega\in\mathbb Z^n $ with $ \omega_1\geq\ldots\geq\omega_n>2n $, and $ \Gamma $ is a discrete subgroup of $ \mathrm{Sp}_{2n}(\mathbb R) $ commensurable with $ \mathrm{Sp}_{2n}(\mathbb Z) $. Moreover, using a variant of Muić's integral non-vanishing criterion for Poincaré series on unimodular locally compact Hausdorff groups, we prove a result on the non-vanishing of constructed Siegel Poincaré series.

Abstract:Abstract In this article we study the delta invariant of reduced curve germs via topological techniques. We describe an explicit connection between the delta invariant of a curve embedded in a rational singularity and the topological Poincaré series of the ambient surface. This connection is established by using another formula expressing the delta invariant as ‘periodic constants’ of the Poincaré series associated with the abstract curve and a ‘twisted’ duality developed for the Poincaré series of the ambient space.

On the amenability of semigroups of entire maps and formal power series

Abstract:In this article, we investigate some relations between dynamical and algebraic properties of semigroups of entire maps with applications to semigroups of formal series. We show that two entire maps fixing the origin share the set of preperiodic points, whenever these maps generate a semigroup which contains neither free nor free abelian non-cyclic subsemigroups and one of the maps has the origin as a superattracting fixed point. We show that a subgroup of formal series generated by rational elements is amenable, whenever contains no free non-cyclic subsemigroup generated by rational elements. We prove that a left-amenable semigroup S of entire maps admits a invariant probability measure for a continuous extension of S on the Stone-Cech compactification of the complex plane. Finally, given an entire map f, we associate a semigroup S such that f admits no ergodic fixed point of the Ruelle operator, whenever every finitely generated subsemigroup of S admits a left-amenable Ruelle representation.

Cyclic nearly invariant subspaces for semigroups of isometries

Abstract:In this paper, the structure of the nearly invariant subspaces for discrete semigroups generated by several (even infinitely many) automorphisms of the unit disc is described. As part of this work, the near $S^*$-invariance property of the image space $C_\varphi({\rm ker\, } T)$ is explored for composition operators $C_\varphi$, induced by inner functions $\varphi$, and Toeplitz operators $T$. After that, the analysis of nearly invariant subspaces for strongly continuous multiplication semigroups of isometries is developed with a study of cyclic subspaces generated by a single Hardy class function. These are characterised in terms of model spaces in all cases when the outer factor is a product of an invertible function and a rational (not necessarily invertible) function. Techniques used include the theory of Toeplitz kernels and reproducing kernels.

Abstract:This is a paper in a series that studies smooth relative Lie algebra homologies and cohomologies based on the theory of formal manifolds and formal Lie groups. In two previous papers, we develop the basic theory of formal manifolds, including generalizations of vector-valued distributions and generalized functions on smooth manifolds to the setting of formal manifolds. In this paper, we establish Poincaré's lemma for de Rham complexes with coefficients in formal functions, formal generalized functions, compactly supported formal densities, or compactly supported formal distributions.

Abstract:In this article we study base change of Poincaré series along a quasi-complete intersection homomorphism $\varphi\colon Q \to R$, where $Q$ is a local ring with maximal ideal $\mathfrak{m}$. In particular, we give a precise relationship between the Poincaré series $\mathrm{P}^Q_M(t)$ of a finitely generated $R$-module $M$ to $\mathrm{P}^R_M(t)$ when the kernel of $\varphi$ is contained in $\mathfrak{m}\,\mathrm{ann}_Q(M)$. This generalizes a classical result of Shamash for complete intersection homomorphisms. Our proof goes through base change formulas for Poincaré series under the map of dg algebras $Q\to E$, with $E$ the Koszul complex on a minimal set of generators for the kernel of $\varphi.$

Abstract:In the setting of global geometric Langlands, we show that miraculous duality on the stack of principal bundles on a curve intertwines the functor of Poincare series with the dual functor to Whittaker coefficients. We construct, for arbitrary parabolic subgroups, Jacquet functors controlling constant terms of Poincare series and Whittaker coefficients of Eisenstein series in local terms.

Exactly Solvable and Integrable Systems

Abstract:Some years ago Ruijsenaars and Schneider initiated the study of mechanical systems exhibiting an action of the Poincare algebra. The systems they discovered were far richer: their models were actually integrable and possessed a natural quantum version. We follow this early work finding and classifying mechanical systems with such an action. New solutions are found together with a new class of models exhibiting an action of the Galilean algebra. These are related to the functional identities underlying the various Hirzebruch genera. The quantum mechanics is also discussed.
