Abstract:In this paper, we study the existence of normalized solutions for the following $(2, q)$-Laplacian equation \begin{equation*}\label{Eq-Equation1} \left\{\begin{array}{l} -\Delta u-\Delta_q u+\lambda u=f(u) \quad x \in \mathbb{R}^N , \\ \int_{\mathbb{R}^N}u^2 d x=c^2, \\ \end{array}\right. \end{equation*} where $1<q<N$, $N\geq3$, $\Delta_q=\operatorname{div}\left(|\nabla u|^{q-2} \nabla u\right)$ denotes the $q$-Laplacian operator, $\lambda$ is a Lagrange multiplier and $c>0$ is a constant. The nonlinearity $f:\mathbb{R}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}$ is continuous, with mass-subcritical growth at the origin, mass-supercritical growth at infinity, and is more general than the sum of two powers. Under different assumptions, we prove the existence of a locally least-energy solution and the existence of a second solution with higher energy.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
This paper aims to explore and solve the problems of the existence and multiplicity of normalized solutions to the (2,q)-Laplace equation with mixed nonlinearities. Specifically, the author studies the (2,q)-Laplace equation in the following form: \[ \begin{cases} - \Delta u - \Delta_q u + \lambda u = f(u), & x \in \mathbb{R}^N, \\ \int_{\mathbb{R}^N} u^2 \, dx = c^2, \end{cases} \] where: - \( \Delta u \) is the standard Laplace operator, - \( \Delta_q u=\text{div}(|\nabla u|^{q - 2}\nabla u) \) is the q - Laplace operator, - \( \lambda \) is the Lagrange multiplier, - \( c>0 \) is a constant, - \( f:\mathbb{R}\to\mathbb{R} \) is a continuous function with the characteristics of mass sub - critical growth and mass super - critical growth. ### Main problems 1. **Existence**: Prove that under different assumptions, the above equation has locally energy - minimizing solutions. 2. **Multiplicity**: Prove that under certain assumptions, the equation also has a second solution with higher energy. ### Research background - The (p,q)-Laplace equation has wide applications in physics, biophysics, and chemical reaction design, etc., especially in plasma physics. - In recent years, significant progress has been made in the research on the (p,q)-Laplace equation. Many authors have studied the existence, multiplicity, regularity, and some qualitative properties of solutions to this type of equation by using variational and topological methods. - In particular, normalized solutions are of great significance in nonlinear optics and Bose - Einstein condensation theory because there is a phenomenon of mass conservation in these fields. ### Paper contributions - By introducing appropriate assumptions, the author has proved that under certain conditions, the equation has solutions with negative energy and positive energy. - The author has also studied the properties of normalized solutions, including the lower bound estimate of energy and the compactness of minimizing sequences. - By analyzing the Pohozaev set and the Nehari set, the author has further explored the structure and properties of solutions. ### Technical means - **Variational method**: Use the critical points of the energy functional to find solutions to the equation. - **Sobolev inequality**: Used to estimate the energy and norm of solutions. - **Gagliardo - Nirenberg inequality**: Used to handle the growth of nonlinear terms. - **Compactness analysis**: Prove the existence and multiplicity of solutions through weak convergence and almost everywhere convergence. In conclusion, through in - depth research on the (2,q)-Laplace equation, this paper not only proves the existence and multiplicity of normalized solutions but also provides theoretical basis and technical support for further research in related fields.
