Abstract:We examine the applicability of the numerically accurate method of time dependent variation with multiple Davydov Ansatze (mDA) to non-Hermitian systems. Three systems of interest includes: a non-Hermitian system of dissipative Landau-Zener transitions, a non-Hermitian, multimode Jaynes-Cummings model, and a dissipative Holstein-Tavis-Cummings model, where complex many-body dynamics are accurately captured by the mDA method. Our findings highlight the versatility of the mDA as a powerful numerical tool for investigating complex many-body non-Hermitian systems, which can be extended to explore diverse phenomena such as skin effects, excited-state dynamics, and spectral topology in the non-Hermitian field.
What problem does this paper attempt to address?
This paper aims to explore the applicability and accuracy of using the multi - Davydov Ansatz (mDA) method in non - Hermitian systems. Specifically, the authors studied three specific non - Hermitian systems: the dissipative Landau - Zener transition, the non - Hermitian multimode Jaynes - Cummings model, and the dissipative Holstein - Tavis - Cummings model. Through the analysis of these systems, the authors showed that the mDA method can effectively describe the dynamic behaviors of these complex many - body non - Hermitian systems. In addition, they also pointed out that the mDA method can be further applied to explore various phenomena in non - Hermitian systems, such as the skin effect, excited - state dynamics, and the evolution of non - Hermitian photonic systems, etc.
### Main problems and solutions
1. **Dynamic simulation of non - Hermitian systems**:
- **Background**: Non - Hermitian physics provides a new framework for studying the dynamic behaviors of open quantum systems, especially when considering environmental impacts. Traditional quantum mechanics methods usually assume that the system is closed, while in reality many systems are open and will be affected by the environment.
- **Method**: The authors adopted the time - dependent variational principle (TDVP) combined with the multi - Davydov Ansatz (mDA) method to numerically and exactly solve the time - dependent Schrödinger equation (TDSE) to simulate the dynamics of non - Hermitian systems.
2. **Research on specific systems**:
- **Dissipative Landau - Zener transition**: The influence of non - Hermitian terms on the Landau - Zener transition was studied, and it was found that as the strength of the non - Hermitian terms increases, the unnormalized upper - state population grows logarithmically.
- **Non - Hermitian multimode Jaynes - Cummings model**: The excited - state population was calculated by the mDA method, and the result was completely consistent with the numerically exact solution.
- **Dissipative Holstein - Tavis - Cummings model**: The influence of cavity loss on polariton dynamics was studied, and it was found that as the cavity loss rate increases, the photon population gradually decreases and finally decays to zero.
### Conclusion
Through the above research, the authors have proven the effectiveness and accuracy of the mDA method in dealing with non - Hermitian systems. This method can not only accurately simulate complex many - body dynamics, but also can be extended to study various novel phenomena in non - Hermitian systems, such as the skin effect, excited - state dynamics, and the evolution of non - Hermitian photonic systems, etc. These studies provide new tools and perspectives for in - depth understanding of non - Hermitian physics.
