Abstract:In this article, we introduce and study capacities related to nonlocal Sobolev spaces, with focus on spaces corresponding to zero-order nonlocal operators. In particular, we prove Hardy-type inequalities to obtain Sobolev embeddings and use them to estimate the nonlocal capacities of a ball.

Abstract:This paper presents a theoretical exploration of local Hardy spaces associated with special para-accretive functions, denoted as , where X is a space of homogeneous type. In pursuit of this goal, we establish inhomogeneous Plancherel–Pôlya inequality and subsequently derive the atomic and block decomposition characterizations for . Furthermore, we culminate our study by demonstrating the boundedness of -type inhomogeneous Calderón–Zygmund operators on with \(\max \{\frac{1}{1+\delta },\frac{1}{1+\sigma }\} when , where represents the regularity exponent of the approximation to the identity.

Abstract:We prove that a pointwise fractional Hardy inequality implies a fractional Hardy inequality, defined via a Gagliardo-type seminorm. The proof consists of two main parts. The first one is to characterize the pointwise fractional Hardy inequality in terms of a fractional capacity density condition. The second part is to show the deep open-endedness or self-improvement property of the fractional capacity density, which we accomplish in the setting of a complete geodesic space equipped with a doubling measure. These results are new already in the standard Euclidean setting.

Abstract:We show that capacity can be computed with locally Lipschitz functions in locally complete and separable metric spaces. Further, we show that if $(X,d,\mu)$ is a locally complete and separable metric measure space, then continuous functions are dense in the Newtonian space $N^{1,p}(X)$. Here the measure $\mu$ is Borel and is finite and positive on all metric balls. In particular, we don't assume properness of $X$, doubling of $\mu$ or any Poincaré inequalities. These resolve, partially or fully, questions posed by a number of authors, including J. Heinonen, A. Björn and J. Björn. In contrast to much of the past work, our results apply to locally complete spaces $X$ and dispenses with the frequently used regularity assumptions: doubling, properness, Poincaré inequality, Loewner property or quasiconvexity.

Abstract:We give necessary and sufficient conditions for sub-Gaussian estimates of the heat kernel of a strongly local regular Dirichlet form on a metric measure space. The conditions for two-sided estimates are given in terms of the generalized capacity inequality and the Poincare inequality. The main difficulty lies in obtaining the elliptic Harnack inequality under these assumptions. The conditions for upper bound alone are given in terms of the generalized capacity inequality and the Faber-Krahn inequality.

Abstract: This paper is devoted to various applications of Hardy-Sobolev type inequalities. We derive a new $L^2$ estimate for the $\bar{\partial}-$equation on ${\mathbb C}^n$ which yields a quantitative generalization of the Hartogs extension theorem to the case when the singularity set is not necessary compact. We show that for any negative subharmonic function $\psi$ on ${\mathbb R}^n$, $n>2$, the BMO norm of $\log |\psi|$ is bounded above by $2\sqrt{n-2}$ and $|\psi|^\gamma$ satisfies a reverse H\"older inequality for every $0<\gamma<1$. We also show that every plurisubharmonic function is locally BMO. Several Liouville theorems for subharmonic functions on complete Riemannian manifolds are given. As a consequence, we get a Margulis type theorem that if a bounded domain in ${\mathbb C}^n$ covers a Zariski open set in a projective algebraic variety, then the group of deck transformations of the covering has trivial center.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove capacitary versions of the fractional Sobolev--Poincaré inequalities. We characterize localized variant of the boundary fractional Sobolev--Poincaré inequalities through uniform fatness condition of the domain in $\mathbb{R}^n$. Existence type results on the fractional Hardy inequality are established in the supercritical case $sp>n$ for $s\in(0,1)$, $p>1$. Characterization of the fractional Hardy inequality through weak supersolution of the associate problem is also addressed.

Abstract:We consider Hardy operators on the half-space, that is, ordinary and fractional Schrödinger operators with potentials given by the appropriate power of the distance to the boundary. We show that the scales of homogeneous Sobolev spaces generated by the Hardy operators and by the fractional Laplacian are comparable with each other when the coupling constant is not too large in a quantitative sense. Our results extend those in the whole Euclidean space and rely on recent heat kernel bounds.

Fourier Transform of Anisotropic Hardy Spaces Associated with Ball Quasi-Banach Function Spaces and Its Applications to Hardy--Littlewood Inequalities

Abstract:Let $A$ be a general expansive matrix and $X$ be a ball quasi-Banach function space on $\mathbb R^n$, whose certain power (namely its convexification) supports a Fefferman--Stein vector-valued maximal inequality and the associate space of whose other power supports the boundedness of the powered Hardy--Littlewood maximal operator. Let $H_X^A(\mathbb{R}^n)$ be the anisotropic Hardy space associated with $A$ and $X$. The authors first prove that the Fourier transform of $f\in H^A_{X}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ coincides with a continuous function $F$ on $\mathbb{R}^n$ in the sense of tempered distributions. Moreover, the authors obtain a pointwise inequality that the function $F$ is less than the product of the anisotropic Hardy space norm of $f$ and a step function with respect to the transpose matrix of the expansive matrix $A$. Applying this, the authors further induce a higher order convergence for the function $F$ at the origin and give a variant of the Hardy--Littlewood inequality in $H^A_{X}(\mathbb{R}^n)$. All these results have a wide range of applications. Particularly, the authors apply these results, respectively, to classical (variable and mixed-norm) Lebesgue spaces, Morrey spaces, Lorentz spaces, Orlicz spaces, Orlicz-slice spaces, and local generalized Herz spaces and, even on the last five function spaces, the obtained results are completely new.

Abstract:Let (X,ρ,μ) be a space of homogeneous type in the sense of Coifman and Weiss, and let Y(X) be a ball quasi‐Banach function space on X , which supports both a Fefferman–Stein vector‐valued maximal inequality and the boundedness of the powered Hardy–Littlewood maximal operator on its associate space. The authors first introduce the Hardy space HY∗(X) , associated with Y(X) , via the grand maximal function and then establish its various real‐variable characterizations, respectively, in terms of radial or nontangential maximal functions, atoms or finite atoms, and molecules. As an application, the authors give the dual space of HY∗(X) , which proves to be a ball Campanato‐type function space associated with Y(X) . All these results have a wide range of generality and, particularly, even when they are applied to variable Hardy spaces, the obtained results are also new. The major novelties of this paper exist in that, to escape both the reverse doubling condition of μ and the triangle inequality of ρ, the authors cleverly construct admissible sequences of balls and fully use the geometrical properties of X expressed by dyadic reference points or dyadic cubes and, to overcome the difficulty caused by the lack of the good dense subset of HY∗(X) , the authors further prove that Y(X) can be embedded into the weighted Lebesgue space with certain special weight and then can fully use the known results of the weighted Lebesgue space.

Abstract:Let f be in the localized nonisotropic Sobolev space W^1,p_loc( ℍ^n) on the n -dimensional Heisenberg group ℍ n = ℂ n × ℝ, where 1 = p < Q and Q = 2 n + 2 is the homogeneous dimension of ℍ n . Suppose that the subelliptic gradient is gloablly L p integrable, i.e., ∫_ℍ^n| ∇ _ℍ^n f|^p du is finite. We prove a Poincaré inequality for f on the entire space ℍ n . Using this inequality we prove that the function f subtracting a certain constant is in the nonisotropic Sobolev space formed by the completion of C^∞_0( ℍ^n) under the norm of ( ∫_ℍ^n| f |^Qp/Q - p)^Q - p/Qp + ( ∫_ℍ^n| ∇ _ℍ^n f|^p)^1/p . We will also prove that the best constants and extremals for such Poincaré inequalities on ℍ n are the same as those for Sobolev inequalities on ℍ n . Using the results of Jerison and Lee on the sharp constant and extremals for L 2 to L2Q/Q - 2 Sobolev inequality on the Heisenberg group, we thus arrive at the explicit best constant for the aforementioned Poincaré inequality on ℍ n when p = 2. We also derive the lower bound of the best constants for local Poincaré inequalities over metric balls on the Heisenberg group ℍ n .
Maximal noncompactness of limiting Sobolev embeddings

Abstract:We develop a new method suitable for establishing lower bounds on the ball measure of noncompactness of operators acting between considerably general quasinormed function spaces. This new method removes some of the restrictions oft-presented in the previous work. Most notably, the target function space need not be disjointly superadditive nor equipped with a norm. Instead, a property that is far more often at our disposal is exploited, namely the absolute continuity of the target quasinorm. We use this new method to prove that limiting Sobolev embeddings into spaces of Brezis--Wainger type are so-called maximally noncompact, i.e., their ball measure of noncompactness is the worst possible.

Abstract:This paper gives a systematic study of operator-valued local Hardy spaces. These spaces are localizations of the Hardy spaces defined by Tao Mei, and share many properties with Mei's Hardy spaces. We prove the ${\rm h}_1$-$\rm bmo$ duality, as well as the ${\rm h}_p$-${\rm h}_q$ duality for any conjugate pair $(p,q)$ when $1<p< \infty$. We show that ${\rm h}_1(\mathbb{R}^d, \mathcal M)$ and ${\rm bmo}(\mathbb{R}^d, \mathcal M)$ are also good endpoints of $L_p(L_\infty(\mathbb{R}^d) \overline{\otimes} \mathcal M)$ for interpolation. We obtain the local version of Calderón-Zygmund theory, and then deduce that the Poisson kernel in our definition of the local Hardy norms can be replaced by any reasonable test function. Finally, we establish the atomic decomposition of the local Hardy space ${\rm h}_1^c(\mathbb{R}^d,\mathcal M)$.

Abstract:Firstly, this paper establishes useful forms of the remainder term of Hardy-type inequalities on general domains where the weights are functions of the distance to the boundary. For weakly mean convex domains we use the resulting identities to establish nonexistence of extremizers for and improve known sharp Hardy inequalities. Secondly, we establish geometrically interesting remainders for the Davies-Hardy-Tidblom inequalities for the mean distance function, as well as generalize and improve several Hardy type inequalities in the spirit of Brezis and Marcus and spectral estimates of Davies. Lastly, we apply our results to obtain Sobolev inequalities for non-regular Riemannian metrics on geometric exterior domains.

Abstract:We obtain sharp Hardy inequalities on antisymmetric functions where antisymmetry is understood for multi-dimensional particles. Partially it is an extension of the previously published paper \cite{HL}, where Hardy's inequalities were considered for the antisymmetric functions in the case of the 1D particles. As a byproduct we obtain some Sobolev and Gagliardo-Nirenberg type inequalities that are applied to the study of spectral properties of Schrödinger operators.

Abstract:Let $X$ be a ball quasi-Banach function space on $\mathbb R^{n}$ and $h_{X}(\mathbb R^{n})$ the local Hardy space associated with $X$. In this paper, under some reasonable assumptions on $X$, the infinite and finite atomic decompositions for the local Hardy space $h_{X}(\mathbb R^{n})$ are established directly, without relying on the relation between $H_{X}(\mathbb R^{n})$ and $h_{X}(\mathbb R^{n})$. Moreover, we apply the finite atomic decomposition to obtain the dual space of the local Hardy space $h_{X}(\mathbb R^{n})$. Especially, the above results can be applied to several specific ball quasi-Banach function spaces, demonstrating their wide range of applications.

Abstract:In this paper, using the method of stationary phase, we obtain the uniform asymptotic behavior of the Poisson kernel, associated to the canonical sub-Laplacian as well as the full Laplacian, on Heisenberg-type groups ℍ ( 2n, m ) . We prove that there exists a constant C > 0 , independent of (n, m), such that ‖ M_K ‖ _L^1 → L^1, ∞≤ C n , where M_K denotes the centered Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator defined by the Korányi norm. While for M = M_CC or M_R , the corresponding operator related to the canonical sub-Riemannian and Riemannian distance respectively, we obtain ‖ M ‖ _L^1 → L^1, ∞≤ C ( 3 / 2 )^ m / 2 n . In particular, we provide an affirmative answer to the question left open in Li and Qian (Trans Am Math Soc 366:1497–1524, 2014) [22] by means of a much simpler method. Besides, these bounds are perfectly matched with the associated Green function. Furthermore, the ( 3 / 2 )^ m / 2 n order bound remains uniformly valid, whenever the canonical Sub-Riemannian or Riemannian distance are replaced by a large class of Carnot-Carathéodory distances.
Sharp Hardy inequalities involving distance functions from submanifolds of Riemannian manifolds

Abstract:We establish various Hardy inequalities involving the distance function from submanifolds of Riemannian manifolds, where the natural weights are expressed in terms of bounds of the mean curvature of the submanifold and sectional/Ricci curvature of the ambient Riemannian manifold. Our approach is based on subtle Heintze-Karcher-type Laplace comparisons of the distance function and on a D'Ambrosio-Dipierro-type weak divergence formula for suitable vector fields, providing Barbatis-Filippas-Tertikas-type Hardy inequalities in the curved setting. Under very mild assumptions, we also establish the sharpness and non-existence of extremal functions within the Hardy inequalities and - depending on the geometry of the ambient manifold - their extensibility to various function spaces. Several examples are provided by showing the applicability of our approach; in particular, well-known Hardy inequalities appear as limit cases of our new inequalities.

Abstract:Let be a family of open subsets of a topological space X equipped with a nonnegative Borel measure satisfying some basic properties. We establish sharp quantitative weighted norm inequalities for the Hardy–Littlewood maximal operator associated with in terms of mixed – constants. The main ingredient to prove this result is a sharp form of a weak reverse Hölder inequality for the weights. As an application of this inequality, we also provide a quantitative version of the open property for weights. Next, we prove a covering lemma in this setting and using this lemma establish the endpoint Fefferman–Stein weighted inequality for the maximal operator . Moreover, vector-valued extensions for maximal inequalities are also obtained in this context.
