Abstract:In the present paper, we consider the compressible Navier--Stokes--Korteweg system on the $2$D whole plane and show that a unique global solution exists in the scaling critical Fourier--Besov spaces for arbitrary large initial data provided that the Mach number is sufficiently small. Moreover, we also show that the global solution converges to the $2$D incompressible Navier--Stokes flow in the singular limit of zero Mach number. The key ingredient of the proof lies in the nonlinear stability estimates around the large incompressible flow via the Strichartz estimate for the linearized equations in Fourier--Besov spaces.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem addressed in this paper is about the existence and convergence of global solutions for the 2D compressible Navier-Stokes-Korteweg system in the low Mach number limit. Specifically, the authors consider the compressible Navier-Stokes-Korteweg system on the 2D whole plane and prove that for arbitrarily large initial data, if the Mach number is sufficiently small, there exists a unique global solution. Furthermore, the authors show that as the Mach number tends to zero, this global solution converges to the 2D incompressible Navier-Stokes flow. The main content and conclusions of the paper are as follows: 1. **Research Background**: - The paper studies the 2D compressible Navier-Stokes-Korteweg system, which describes the motion of capillary fluids. - The system's equations include the evolution equations for the density and velocity fields, as well as the initial conditions. 2. **Main Problems**: - Prove that for arbitrarily large initial perturbations, there exists a unique global solution when the Mach number is sufficiently small. - Prove that as the Mach number tends to zero, this global solution converges to the corresponding 2D incompressible Navier-Stokes flow. 3. **Methods and Results**: - The authors use nonlinear stability estimates in the Fourier-Besov space and Strichartz estimates for the linearized equations. - Through these estimates, the authors prove the existence of a unique global solution in the critical Fourier-Besov space. - Furthermore, the authors show that as the Mach number tends to zero, the solution converges to the incompressible Navier-Stokes flow. 4. **Conclusion**: - The authors successfully prove the existence and convergence of global solutions for the 2D compressible Navier-Stokes-Korteweg system in the low Mach number limit. - These results are significant for understanding the low Mach number limit problem in fluid dynamics. In summary, this paper addresses the problem of the existence and convergence of global solutions for the 2D compressible Navier-Stokes-Korteweg system in the low Mach number limit, providing an important theoretical foundation for research in the related field.
