Abstract:It is well known that the number of partitions into distinct even parts equals the number of $4$-regular partitions. In this paper we prove identities relating certain restricted partitions into distinct even parts with restricted $4$-regular partitions.

In this short note, we give combinatorial proofs of these identities. We also prove the counterpart identities for the restricted partitions into distinct odd parts.

Abstract:Based on two involutions and a bijection, we completely determine the difference between the number of $\ell$-regular partitions of $n$ into an even number of parts and into an odd number of parts for all positive integers $n$ and $\ell>1$, which extends two recent results due to Ballantine and Merca. As an application, we provide a combinatorial proof of Hickerson's identity on the number of partitions into an even and odd number of parts.

Abstract:We construct a family of partition identities which contain the following identities: Rogers-Ramanujan-Gordon identities, Bressoud's even moduli generalization of them, and their counterparts for overpartitions due to Lovejoy et al. and Chen et al. We obtain unusual companion identities to known theorems as well as to the new ones in the process. The proof is, against tradition, constructive and open to automation.

Abstract:Recently, Andrews gave a detailed study of partitions with even parts below odd parts in which only the largest even part appears an odd number of times. In this paper, we provide a combinatorial proof of the generating function identity of such partitions. We also have a further investigation on the largest even part. Abstract:We will consider two-color integer partitions in which the smallest part is odd and the odd or the even parts may occur only in one color. It turns out that these partitions are generated by the mock theta functions of third order due to Ramanujan and Watson. Motivated by this, we will also consider two-color partitions in which the parts of the same parity may occur in both colors.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the combinatorial properties of three classes of integer partitions: (1) $s$-modular partitions, a class consisting of partitions into parts with a number of occurrences (i.e., multiplicity) congruent to $0$ or $1$ modulo $s$, (2) $s$-congruent partitions, which generalize Sellers' partitions into parts not congruent to $2$ modulo $4$, and (3) $s$-duplicate partitions, of which the partitions having distinct odd parts and enumerated by the function $\mypod(n)$ are a special case. In this vein, we generalize Alladi's series expansion for the product generating function of $\mypod(n)$ and show that Andrews' generalization of Göllnitz-Gordon identities coincides with the number of partitions into parts simultaneously $s$-congruent and $t$-distinct (parts appearing fewer than $t$ times).

Abstract:For a given prime $p$, we study the properties of the $p$-dissection identities of Ramanujan's theta functions $\psi(q)$ and $f(-q)$, respectively. Then as applications, we find many infinite family of congruences modulo 2 for some $\ell$-regular partition functions, especially, for $\ell=2,4,5,8,13,16$. Moreover, based on the classical congruences for $p(n)$ given by Ramanujan, we obtain many more congruences for some $\ell$-regular partition functions.

Abstract:Andrews and Merca [J. Combin. Theory Ser. A 203 (2024), Art. 105849] recently obtained two interesting results on the sum of the parts with the same parity in the partitions of $n$ (the modulo $2$ case), the proof of which relies on generating functions. Motivated by Andrews and Merca's results, we define six statistics related to the partitions of $n$ and show that the two triples of the six statistics are equidistributed. From this equidistributed result, we derive modulo $m$ extensions of Andrews and Merca's results for all integers $m\ge 2$. The proof of the main result is based on a general bijection on the set of partitions of $n$.

New congruences for 4,6-regular partitions modulo primes

Abstract:The main result of the paper is the existence of an infinitely many families of Ramanujan-type congruences for $b_4(n)$ and $b_6(n)$ modulo primes $m \geq 2$ and $m \geq 5$, respectively. We provide new examples of congruences for $b_4(n)$ and $b_6(n)$. Moreover, we find two infinite explicit infinite families of congruences for $b_4(n)$ modulo $3$.

Abstract:The $k$-measure of an integer partition was recently introduced by Andrews, Bhattacharjee and Dastidar. In this paper, we establish trivariate generating function identities counting both the length and the $k$-measure for partitions and distinct partitions, respectively. The $2$-measure case for partitions extends a result of Andrews, Bhattacharjee and Dastidar.

Abstract:The partition function $pod(n)$ enumerates the partitions of $n$ wherein odd parts are distinct and even parts are unrestricted. Recently, a number of properties for $pod(n)$ have been established. In this paper, for $k\in\{0,2\}$ we consider the partitions of $n$ into distinct parts not congruent to $k$ modulo $4$ and the $4$-regular partitions of $n$ in order to obtain new properties for $pod(n)$. In this context, we derive two new infinite families of linear inequalities involving the function $pod(n)$ and obtain new identities of Watson type.

Abstract:Strict partitions are enumerated with respect to the weight, the number of parts, and the number of sequences of odd length. We write this trivariate generating function as a double sum $q$-series. Equipped with such a combinatorial set-up, we investigate a handful of double sum identities appeared in recent works of Cao-Wang, Wang-Wang, Wei-Yu-Ruan, Andrews-Uncu, Chern, and Wang, finding partition theoretical interpretations to all of these identities, and in most cases supplying Franklin-type involutive proofs. This approach dates back more than a century to P. A. MacMahon's interpretations of the celebrated Rogers-Ramanujan identities, and has been further developed by Kurşungöz in the last decade.

Abstract:A partition is said to be $\ell$-regular if none of its parts is a multiple of $\ell$. Let $b^\prime_5(n)$ denote the number of 5-regular partitions into distinct parts (equivalently, into odd parts) of $n$. This function has also close connections to representation theory and combinatorics. In this paper, we study arithmetic properties of $b^\prime_5(n)$. We provide full characterization of the parity of $b^\prime_5(2n+1)$, present several congruences modulo 4, and prove that the generating function of the sequence $(b^\prime_5(5n+1))$ is lacunary modulo any arbitrary positive powers of 5.
