Abstract:Considering potentials defined by Bessel kernel with Bessel convolution a Kerman-Sawyer type characterization of trace inequality is given. As an application an estimate on the least eigenvalue of Schrödinger-Bessel operators is derived.

Abstract:We establish an approach to trace inequalities for potential-type operators based on an appropriate modification of an interpolation theorem due to Calderón. We develop a general theoretical tool for establishing boundedness of notoriously difficult operators (such as potentials) on certain specific types of rearrangement-invariant function spaces from analogous properties of operators that are easier to handle (such as fractional maximal operators). The key ingredient for the development of the theory is the initial pair of endpoint estimates for the easier operator whose pivotal example is based on a two-weight inequality of Sawyer. Among various applications we obtain a generalization of the celebrated trace inequality involving the Riesz potential and the Hausdorff content by Korobkov and Kristensen.

Abstract:We show that it is possible to distinguish between different off-shell completions of supergravity at the on-shell level. We focus on the comparison of the ``new minimal'' formulation of off-shell four-dimensional N=1 supergravity with the ``old minimal'' formulation. We show that there are 3-manifolds which admit supersymmetric compactifications in the new-minimal formulation but which do not admit supersymmetric compactifications in other formulations. Moreover, on manifolds with boundary the new-minimal formulation admits ``singleton modes'' which are absent in other formulations.

Abstract:The paper establishes the Krein and Koplienko trace formulas for multivariable operator functions on symmetrically normed ideals of bounded operators. This partially answers the question of Aleksandrov, Peller and Potapov on the existence of spectral shift measures for tuples of commuting self-adjoint operators. Results are proved for self-adjoint and maximal dissipative operators. They cover both ideals with normal and singular traces. The admissible function classes considered in the trace formulas include both analytic and non-analytic scalar functions. Results are illustrated with examples.

Abstract:In this article the operator trace function $ \Lambda_{r,s}(A)[K, M] := {\operatorname{tr}}(K^*A^r M A^r K)^s$ is introduced and its convexity and concavity properties are investigated. This function has a direct connection to several well-studied operator trace functions that appear in quantum information theory, in particular when studying data processing inequalities of various relative entropies. In the paper the interplay between $\Lambda_ {r,s}$ and the well-known operator functions $\Gamma_{p,s}$ and $\Psi_{p,q,s}$ is used to study the stability of their convexity (concavity) properties. This interplay may be used to ensure that $\Lambda_{r,s}$ is convex (concave) in certain parameter ranges when $M=I$ or $K=I.$ However, our main result shows that convexity (concavity) is surprisingly lost when perturbing those matrices even a little. To complement the main theorem, the convexity (concavity) domain of $\Lambda$ itself is examined. The final result states that $\Lambda_{r,s}$ is never concave and it is convex if and only if $r=1$ and $s\geq 1/2.$

Abstract:We study properties of the boundary trace operator on the Sobolev space $W^1_1(\Omega)$. Using the density result by Koskela and Zhang, we define a surjective operator \mbox{$Tr: W^1_1(\Omega_K)\rightarrow X(\Omega_K)$}, where $\Omega_K$ is von Koch's snowflake and $X(\Omega_K)$ is a trace space with the quotient norm. Since $\Omega_K$ is a uniform domain whose boundary is Ahlfors-regular with an exponent strictly bigger than one, it was shown by L. Malý that there exists a right inverse to $Tr$, i.e. a linear operator $S: X(\Omega_K) \rightarrow W^1_1(\Omega_K)$ such that $Tr \circ S= Id_{X(\Omega_K)}$. In this paper we provide a different, purely combinatorial proof based on geometrical structure of von Koch's snowflake. Moreover we identify the isomorphism class of the trace space as $\ell_1$. As an additional consequence of our approach we obtain a simple proof of the Peetre's theorem about non-existence of the right inverse for domain $\Omega$ with regular boundary, which explains Banach space geometry cause for this phenomenon.

Abstract:In this paper, a positive operator is given. It is shown that the product of this positive operator and the convolution operator is a trace class Hilbert-Schmidt integral operator and has nonnegative eigenvalues. A formula is given for the trace of this product operator. It seems that this product operator is the closest trace class integral operator which has nonnegative eigenvalues and is related to the Weil distribution. A relation is given between the trace of the product operator and the Weil distribution.

Abstract:We study integral operators on the space of square-integrable functions from a compact set, $X$, to a separable Hilbert space, $H$. The kernel of such an operator takes values in the ideal of Hilbert-Schmidt operators on $H$. We establish regularity conditions on the kernel under which the associated integral operator is trace class. First, we extend Mercer's theorem to operator-valued kernels by proving that a continuous, nonnegative-definite, Hermitian symmetric kernel defines a trace class integral operator on $L^2(X;H)$ under an additional assumption. Second, we show that a general operator-valued kernel that is defined on a compact set and that is Hölder continuous with Hölder exponent greater than a half is trace class provided that the operator-valued kernel is essentially bounded as a mapping into the space of trace class operators on $H$. Finally, when $\dim H < \infty$, we show that an analogous result also holds for matrix-valued kernels on the real line, provided that an additional exponential decay assumption holds.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the relations between trace inequalities (Sobolev and Moser-Trudinger types), isocapacitary inequalities, and the regularity of the complex Hessian and Monge-Ampère equations with respect to a general nonnegative Borel measure. We obtain a quantitative characterization for these relations through the properties of the capacity-minimizing functions.

Abstract:The trace-dev-div inequality in $H^s$ controls the trace in the norm of $H^s$ by that of the deviatoric part plus the $H^{s-1}$ norm of the divergence of a quadratic tensor field different from the constant unit matrix. This is well known for $s=0$ and established for orders $0\le s\le 1$ and arbitrary space dimension in this note. For mixed and least-squares finite element error analysis in linear elasticity, this inequality allows to establish robustness with respect to the Lamé parameter $\lambda$.

Abstract:The AdS/CFT correspondence states that certain conformal field theories are equivalent to string theories in a higher-dimensional anti-de Sitter space. One aspect of the correspondence is an equivalence of density matrices or, if one ignores normalizations, of positive operators. On the CFT side of the correspondence, any two positive operators A, B will satisfy the trace inequality Tr( AB ) ≤ Tr( A )Tr( B ). This relation holds on any Hilbert space and is deeply associated with the fact that the algebra B ( ) of bounded operators on is a type I von Neumann factor. Holographic bulk theories must thus satisfy a corresponding condition, which we investigate below. In particular, we argue that the Euclidean gravitational path integral respects this inequality at all orders in the semi-classical expansion and with arbitrary higher-derivative corrections. The argument relies on a conjectured property of the classical gravitational action, which in particular implies a positive action conjecture for quantum gravity wavefunctions. We prove this conjecture for Jackiw-Teitelboim gravity and we also motivate it for more general theories.

Abstract:We establish trace inequalities for Riesz potentials on Herz-type spaces and discuss the optimality of conditions imposed on specific parameters. We also present some applications in the form of Sobolev-type inequalities, including the Gagliardo-Nirenberg-Sobolev inequality and the fractional integration theorem in the Herz space setting. In addition, we obtain a Sobolev embedding theorem for Herz-type Sobolev spaces.

Abstract:We put forward a new approach to Deift-Trubowitz type trace formulas for the 1D Schrodinger operator with potentials that are summable with the first moment (short-range potentials). We prove that these formulas are preserved under the KdV flow whereas the class of short-range potentials is not. Finally, we show that our formulas are well-suited to study the dispersive smoothing effect.

Abstract:In the context of the Kuznetsov trace formula, we outline the theory of the Bessel functions on $GL(n)$ as a series of conjectures designed as a blueprint for the construction of Kuznetsov-type formulas with given ramification at infinity. We are able to prove one of the conjectures at full generality on $GL(n)$ and most of the conjectures in the particular case of the long Weyl element; as with previous papers, we give some unconditional results on Archimedean Whittaker functions, now on $GL(n)$ with arbitrary weight. We expect the heuristics here to apply at the level of real reductive groups. In an appendix, we make good progress toward series and integral representations of $GL(4)$ Bessel functions by proving several of the conjectures for $GL(4)$.

Abstract:We study the behaviour of functions of self-adjoint operators under relatively bounded and relatively trace class perturbation We introduce and study the class of relatively operator Lipschitz functions. An essential role is played by double operator integrals. We also consider study the class of resolvent Lipschitz functions. Then we obtain a trace formula in the case of relatively trace class perturbations and show that the maximal class of function for which the trace formula holds in the case of relatively trace class perturbations coincides with the class of relatively operator Lipschitz functions. Our methods also gives us a new approach to the inequality $\int|\boldsymbol{\xi}(t)|(1+|t|)^{-1}\,{\rm d}t<\infty$ for the spectral shift function $\boldsymbol{\xi}$ in the case of relatively trace class perturbations.
