Abstract:We consider autoequivalences of the bounded derived category of coherent sheaves on a K3 surface. We prove that the image of the autoequivalences has index at most two in the group of the Hodge isometries of the Mukai lattice. Motivated by homological mirror symmetry, we also consider the mirror counterpart, i.e., the symplectic version of it. In the case of rho(X) = 1, we find an explicit formula which reproduces the number of Fourier-Mukai (FM) partners from the monodromy problem of the mirror K3 family. We present an explicit example in which a monodromy action does not come from an autoequivalence of the mirror side.

Abstract:In this paper we study equivariant moduli spaces of sheaves on a $ K3 $ surface $ X $ under a symplectic action of a finite group. We prove that under some mild conditions, equivariant moduli spaces of sheaves on $ X $ are irreducible symplectic manifolds deformation equivalent to Hilbert schemes of points on $ X $ via a connection between Gieseker and Bridgeland moduli spaces, as well as the derived McKay correspondence.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate Bloch's conjecture for autoequivalence on K3 surfaces. We introduce the notion of reflective autoequivalence of twisted K3 surfaces and prove Bloch's conjecture for such autoequivalences, thereby confirming the conjecture for all (anti-)symplectic autoequivalences of K3 surfaces with Picard number at least $3$. The main idea is that we find a Cartan-Dieudonné type decomposition of (anti)-symplectic autoequivalences. Our findings have several interesting consequences. Firstly, we verify Bloch's conjecture for (anti-)symplectic birational automorphisms of Bridgeland moduli space on a K3 surface with Picard number at least $3$. This notably implies that Bloch's conjecture holds for (anti)-symplectic birational automorphisms of finite order ($\neq 2,4$) on arbitrary hyper-Kähler varieties of $K3^{[n]}$-type. Secondly, we extend Huybrechts' work in \cite{Huy12} to twisted K3 surfaces. This extension enables us to affirm Bloch's conjecture for symplectic birational automorphisms on any hyper-Kähler variety of $K3^{[n]}$-type preserving a birational Lagrangian fibration. Finally, we prove the constant cycle property for the fixed loci of anti-symplectic involutions on hyper-Kähler varieties of $K3^{[n]}$-type, provided that $n \leq 2$ or the invariant sublattice has rank greater than $1$.

Abstract:We study the virtual geometry of the moduli spaces of curves and sheaves on K3 surfaces in primitive classes. Equivalences relating the reduced Gromov-Witten invariants of K3 surfaces to characteristic numbers of stable pairs moduli spaces are proven. As a consequence, we prove the Katz-Klemm-Vafa conjecture evaluating $\lambda_g$ integrals (in all genera) in terms of explicit modular forms. Indeed, all K3 invariants in primitive classes are shown to be governed by modular forms. The method of proof is by degeneration to elliptically fibered rational surfaces. New formulas relating reduced virtual classes on K3 surfaces to standard virtual classes after degeneration are needed for both maps and sheaves. We also prove a Gromov-Witten/Pairs correspondence for toric 3-folds. Our approach uses a result of Kiem and Li to produce reduced classes. In Appendix A, we answer a number of questions about the relationship between the Kiem-Li approach, traditional virtual cycles, and symmetric obstruction theories. The interplay between the boundary geometry of the moduli spaces of curves, K3 surfaces, and modular forms is explored in Appendix B by A. Pixton.

Abstract:We study complex algebraic K3 surfaces of Picard ranks 11, 12, and 13 of finite automorphism group that admit a Jacobian elliptic fibration with a section of order two. We prove that the K3 surfaces admit a birational model isomorphic to a projective quartic hypersurface and construct geometrically the frames of all supported Jacobian elliptic fibrations. We determine the dual graphs of all smooth rational curves for these K3 surfaces, the polarizing divisors, and the embedding of the reducible fibers in each frame into the corresponding dual graph.

Abstract:Given a smooth projective variety over a number field and an element of its Brauer group, we consider the specialization of the Brauer class at a place of good reduction for the variety and the class. We are interested in the case of K3 surfaces. We show that a Brauer class on a very general polarized K3 surface over a number field becomes trivial after specialization at a set of places of positive natural density. We deduce that there exist cubic fourfolds over number fields that are conjecturally irrational, with rational reduction at a positive proportion of places. We also deduce that there are twisted derived equivalent K3 surfaces which become derived equivalent after reduction at a positive proportion of places.

Abstract:This paper explores the relationship between L-equivalence and D-equivalence for K3 surfaces and hyperkähler manifolds. Building on Efimov's approach using Hodge theory, we prove that very general L-equivalent K3 surfaces are D-equivalent, leveraging the Derived Torelli Theorem for K3 surfaces. Our main technical contribution is that two distinct lattice structures on an integral, irreducible Hodge structure are related by a rational endomorphism of the Hodge structure. We partially extend our results to hyperkähler fourfolds and moduli spaces of sheaves on K3 surfaces.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the action of an autoequivalence, the spherical twist associated to a torsion sheaf, on the standard Bridgeland stability conditions and a generalized weak stability condition on the derived category of a K3 surface. As a special case, we construct a Bridgeland stability condition associated to a non-nef divisor, which conjecturally lies in the geometric component but outside the geometric chamber. We also discuss the destabilizing objects and stability of certain line bundles at the weak stability condition associated to a nef divisor.

Abstract:We provide new examples of anti-symplectic involutions on moduli spaces of stable sheaves on K3 surfaces. These involutions are constructed through (anti) autoequivalences of the bounded derived category of coherent sheaves on K3 surfaces arising from spherical bundles. We analyze these induced maps in the moduli space, imposing restrictions on the Mukai vector and considering the preservation of stability conditions. Our construction extends and unifies classical examples, such as the Beauville involutions, Markman-O'Grady reflections and a more recent construction by Beri-Manivel.

Abstract:Let $X\subset ¶^5$ be a smooth cubic fourfold. A well known conjecture asserts that $X$ is rational if and only if there an Hodge theoretically associated K3 surface $S$. The surface $S$ can be associated to $X$ in two other different ways. If there is an equivalence of categories $\sA_X \simeq D^b(S,\alpha)$ where $\sA_X$ is the Kuznetsov component of $D^b(X)$ and $\alpha$ is a Brauer class, or if there is an isomorphism between the transcendental motive $t(X)$ and the (twisted ) transcendental motive of a K3 surface$S$. In this note we consider families of cubic fourfolds with a finite group of automorphisms and describe the cases where there is an associated K3 surface in one of the above senses.

Which powers of cyclotomic polynomials occur ? The aim of this note is to answer this question, as well as related ones, and give an alternative approach to some results of Kondo, Machida, Oguiso, Vorontsov, Xiao and Zhang; this leads to questions and results concerning orthogonal groups of lattices.

Abstract:An element in the Brauer group of a general complex projective $K3$ surface $S$ defines a sublattice of the transcendental lattice of $S$. We consider those elements of prime order for which this sublattice is Hodge-isometric to the transcendental lattice of another K3 surface $X$. We recall that this defines a finite map between moduli spaces of polarized K3 surfaces and we compute its degree. We show how the Picard lattice of $X$ determines the Picard lattice of $S$ in the case that the Picard number of $X$ is two.

Moduli spaces of sheaves on Fano threefolds and K3 surfaces of genus 9

Abstract:A complex smooth prime Fano threefold $X$ of genus $9$ is related via projective duality to a quartic plane curve $\Gamma$. We use this setup to study the restriction of rank $2$ stable sheaves with prescribed Chern classes on $X$ to an anticanonical $K3$ surface $S\subset X$. Varying the threefold $X$ containing $S$ gives a rational Lagrangian fibration $$\mathcal{M}_S(2,1,7) \dashrightarrow \mathbb{P}^3$$ with generic fibre birational to the moduli space $\mathcal{M}_X(2,1,7)$ of sheaves on $X$. Moreover, we prove that this rational fibration extends to an actual fibration on a birational model $\mathcal{M}$ of $\mathcal{M}_S(2,1,7)$. In a last part, we use Bridgeland stability conditions to exhibit all $K$-trivial smooth birational models of $\mathcal{M}_S(2,1,7)$, which consist in itself and $\mathcal{M}$. We prove that these models are related by a flop, and we describe the positive, movable and nef cones of $\mathcal{M}_S(2,1,7)$.

Abstract:Using Gauss-Manin derivatives of normal functions, we arrive at some remarkable results on the non-triviality of the transcendental regulator for $K_m$ of a very general projective algebraic manifold. Our strongest results are for the transcendental regulator for $K_1$ of a very general $K3$ surface. We also construct an explicit family of $K_1$ cycles on $H \oplus E_8 \oplus E_8$-polarized $K3$ surfaces, and show they are indecomposable by a direct evaluation of the real regulator. Critical use is made of natural elliptic fibrations, hypersurface normal forms, and an explicit parametrization by modular functions.

Abstract:We prove that every K3 surface with automorphism group $(\mathbb{Z}/2\mathbb{Z})^2$ admits an explicit birational model as a double sextic surface. This model is canonical for Picard number greater than 10. For Picard number greater than 9, the K3 surfaces in question possess a second birational model, in the form of a projective quartic hypersurface, generalizing the Inose quartic.

Abstract:We derive a characterization of the complex projective K3 surfaces which have automorphisms of positive entropy in terms of their Néron–Severi lattices. Along the way, we classify the projective K3 surfaces of zero entropy with infinite automorphism groups and we determine the projective K3 surfaces of Picard number at least five with almost abelian automorphism groups, which gives an answer to a long standing question of Nikulin.
