Abstract:Given any (forward) Brascamp--Lieb inequality on euclidean space, a famous theorem of Lieb guarantees that gaussian near-maximizers always exist. Recently, Barthe and Wolff used mass transportation techniques to establish a counterpart to Lieb's theorem for all non-degenerate cases of the inverse Brascamp--Lieb inequality. Here we build on work of Chen--Dafnis--Paouris and employ heat-flow techniques to understand the inverse Brascamp--Lieb inequality for certain regularized input functions, in particular extending the Barthe--Wolff theorem to such a setting. Inspiration arose from work of Bennett, Carbery, Christ and Tao for the forward inequality, and we recover their generalized Lieb's theorem using a clever limiting argument of Wolff. In fact, we use Wolff's idea to deduce regularized inequalites in the broader framework of the forward-reverse Brascamp--Lieb inequality, in particular allowing us to recover the gaussian saturation property in this framework first obtained by Courtade, Cuff, Liu and Verdú.

Weighted Brunn-Minkowski Theory II: Inequalities for Mixed Measures and Applications

Abstract:In "Weighted Brunn-Minkowski Theory I", the prequel to this work, we discussed how recent developments on concavity of measures have laid the foundations of a nascent weighted Brunn-Minkowski theory. In particular, we defined the mixed measures of three convex bodies and obtained its integral representation. In this work, we obtain inequalities for mixed measures, such as a generalization of Fenchel's inequality; this provides a new, simpler proof of the classical volume case. Moreover, we show that mixed measures are connected to the study of log-submodularity and supermodularity of the measure of Minkowski sums of convex bodies. This elaborates on the recent investigations of these properties for the Lebesgue measure. We conclude by establishing that the only Radon measures that are supermodular over the class of compact, convex sets are multiples of the Lebesgue measure. Motivated by this result, we then discuss weaker forms of supermodularity by restricting the class of convex sets.

Abstract:Abstract The Brascamp–Lieb inequalities are a generalization of the Hölder, Loomis–Whitney, Young, and Finner inequalities that have found many applications in harmonic analysis and elsewhere. In this paper, we introduce an “adjoint” version of these inequalities, which can be viewed as an version of the entropic Brascamp–Lieb inequalities of Carlen and Cordero–Erausquin. As applications, we reprove a log‐convexity property of the Gowers uniformity norms, and establish some reverse inequalities for various tomographic transforms. We conclude with some open questions.

Abstract:In this paper we obtain the sharp quantitative matrix weighted weak type bounds for the Christ--Goldberg maximal operator $M_{W,p}$ in the case $1<p<2$, improving a recent result by Cruz-Uribe and Sweeting. Also, in the scalar setting, we improve a weak type bound obtained in the aforementioned work for Calderón--Zygmund operators.

Abstract:We prove quantitative, one-weight, weak-type estimates for maximal operators, singular integrals, fractional maximal operators and fractional integral operators. We consider a kind of weak-type inequality that was first studied by Muckenhoupt and Wheeden and later by Cruz-Uribe, Martell and Perez. We obtain quantitative estimates for these operators in both the scalar and matrix weighted setting using sparse domination techniques. Our results extend those obtained by Cruz-Uribe, Isralowitz, Moen, Pott, and Rivera-Ríos for singular integrals and maximal operators when $p=1$.

Functional inequalities on symmetric spaces of noncompact type and applications

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to begin a systematic study of functional inequalities on symmetric spaces of noncompact type of higher rank. Our first main goal of this study is to establish the Stein-Weiss inequality, also known as a weighted Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality, for the Riesz potential on symmetric spaces of noncompact type. This is achieved by performing delicate estimates of ground spherical function with the use of polyhedral distance on symmetric spaces and by combining the integral Hardy inequality developed by Ruzhansky and Verma with the sharp Bessel-Green-Riesz kernel estimates on symmetric spaces of noncompact type obtained by Anker and Ji. As a consequence of the Stein-Weiss inequality, we deduce Hardy-Sobolev, Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev, Gagliardo-Nirenberg and Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg inequalities on symmetric spaces of noncompact type. The second main purpose of this paper is to show the applications of aforementioned inequalities for studying nonlinear PDEs on symmetric spaces. Specifically, we show that the Gagliardo-Nirenberg inequality can be used to establish small data global existence results for the semilinear wave equations with damping and mass terms for the Laplace-Beltrami operator on symmetric spaces.

Abstract:The Blaschke-Santaló inequality states that the volume product $|K| \cdot |K^o|$ of a symmetric convex body $K \subset \mathbb{R}^n$ is maximized by the standard Euclidean unit-ball. Cordero-Erausquin asked whether the inequality remains true for all even log-concave measures. We verify that the inequality is true for all unconditional log-concave measures.

Abstract:When studying the weighted Hardy-Rellich inequality in $L^2$ with the full gradient replaced by the radial derivative the best constant becomes trivially larger or equal than in the first situation. Our contribution is to determine the new sharp constant and to show that for some part of the weights is strictly larger than before. In some cases we emphasize that the extremals functions of the sharp constant are not radially symmetric.

Abstract:We establish analogs of sharp weighted weak-type bounds for $m$-sublinear operators satisfying sparse form domination, including multilinear Calderón-Zygmund singular integrals. Our results, which hold for general $\vec{p} \in [1,\infty)^m$ and feature quantitative improvements, rely on new local testing conditions and good-$\lambda$ inequalities. We address weak-type bounds in both the change of measure and multiplier settings.

Abstract:We give a new approach, inspired by Hörmander's $L^2$-method, to weighted variance inequalities which extend results obtained by Bobkov and Ledoux. It provides in particular a local proof of the dimensional functional forms of the Brunn-Minkowski inequalities. We also present several applications of these variance inequalities, including reverse Hölder inequalities for convex functions, weighted Brascamp-Lieb inequalities and sharp weighted Poincaré inequalities for generalized Cauchy measures.

Abstract:We explore alternative functional or transport-entropy formulations of the Blaschke-Santal{ó} inequality and of its conjectured counterpart due to Mahler. In particular, we obtain new direct and reverse Blaschke-Santal{ó} inequalities for s-concave functions. We also obtain new sharp symmetrized transport-entropy inequalities for a large class of spherically invariant probability measures, including the uniform measure on the unit Euclidean sphere and generalized Cauchy and Barenblatt distributions. Finally, we show that the Mahler's conjecture is equivalent to some reinforced log-Sobolev type inequality on the sphere.

Abstract:We prove new inequalities for the essential generalized and the essential joint spectral radius of Hadamard (Schur) weighted geometric means of bounded sets of infinite nonnegative matrices that define operators on suitable Banach sequence spaces and of bounded sets of positive kernel operators on $L^2$. To our knowledge the obtained inequalities are new even in the case of singelton sets.

Abstract:We study the shape of solutions to some variational problems in Sobolev spaces with weights that are powers of |x|. In particular, we detect situations when the extremal functions lack symmetry properties such as radial symmetry and antisymmetry. We also prove an isoperimetric inequality for the first non-zero eigenvalue of a weighted Neumann problem.

Abstract:Communications in Contemporary Mathematics, Ahead of Print. In this paper, we establish some new functional inequalities of Adams' type for radial Sobolev spaces of second order with logarithmic weights. The sharpness of these inequalities is also discussed. These inequalities (which can be singular) are new and complete the existing literature concerning this topic of research. Finally, we will end this work with a concrete application of these new inequalities to study some singular elliptic nonlinear equations involving new type of exponential growth condition at infinity.

Abstract:In this article, via first establishing a weighted variant of the profound and far-reaching inequality obtained by A. Cohen, W. Dahmen, I. Daubechies, and R. DeVore in 2003, the authors give two new characterizations of Muckenhoupt weights. As an application, the authors further establish a representation formula of gradients with sharp parameters in ball Banach function spaces, which extends the famous formula obtained by H. Brezis, A. Seeger, J. Van Schaftingen, and P.-L. Yung in 2021 from classical Sobolev spaces to various different Sobolev-type spaces and gives an affirmative answer to the question in page 29 of [Calc. Var. Partial Differential Equations 62 (2023), Paper No. 234]. The most novelty of this article exists in subtly revealing the mutual equivalences among the Muckenhoupt weight, the weighted variant of the inequality of Cohen et al., and the weighted upper estimate of the formula of Brezis et al.

Abstract:Let $S_{\alpha }$ be the multilinear square function defined on the cone with aperture $\alpha \ge 1$. In this paper, we investigate several kinds of weighted norm inequalities for $S_{\alpha }$. We first obtain a sharp weighted estimate in terms of aperture $\alpha $ and $\vec {w} \in A_{\vec {p}}$. By means of some pointwise estimates, we also establish two-weight inequalities including bump and entropy bump estimates, and Fefferman–Stein inequalities with arbitrary weights. Beyond that, we consider the mixed weak type estimates corresponding Sawyer's conjecture, for which a Coifman–Fefferman inequality with the precise $A_{\infty }$ norm is proved. Finally, we present the local decay estimates using the extrapolation techniques and dyadic analysis respectively. All the conclusions aforementioned hold for the Littlewood–Paley $g^*_{\lambda }$ function. Some results are new even in the linear case.
