Abstract:We show that the prime spectrum of the complete integral closure $D^\ast$ of a Prüfer domain $D$ is completely determined by the Zariski topology on the spectrum $\mathrm{Spec}(D)$ of $D$.

Abstract:We study the effects on $D$ of assuming that the power series ring $D[[X]]$ is a $v$-domain or a PVMD. We show that a PVMD $D$ is completely integrally closed if and only if $\bigcap_{n=1}^{\infty }(I^{n})_{v}=(0)$ for every proper $t$-invertible $t$-ideal $I$ of $D$. Using this, we show that if $D$ is an AGCD domain, then $D[[X]]$ is integrally closed if and only if $D$ is a completely integrally closed PVMD with torsion $t$-class group. We also determine several classes of PVMDs for which being Archimedean is equivalent to being completely integrally closed and give some new characterizations of integral domains related to Krull domains.

Abstract:It is proved that every Bézout domain admits an embedding into an elementary divisor domain with the same divisibility group. So the prime spectrum of a Bézout domain is homeomorphic to the prime spectrum of an elementary divisor domain. Together with an earlier result, it follows that a topological space is homeomorphic to the maximal spectrum of an elementary divisor domain if and only if it is a serial quasi-compact -space.

Abstract:Let $D$ be an integral domain and $L$ be a field containing $D$. We study the isolated points of the Zariski space $\mathrm{Zar}(L|D)$, with respect to the constructible topology. In particular, we completely characterize when $L$ (as a point) is isolated and, under the hypothesis that $L$ is the quotient field of $D$, when a valuation domain of dimension $1$ is isolated; as a consequence, we find all isolated points of $\mathrm{Zar}(D)$ when $D$ is a Noetherian domain. We also show that if $V$ is a valuation domain and $L$ is transcendental over $V$ then the set of extensions of $V$ to $L$ has no isolated points.

Minimal Prüfer-Dress rings and products of idempotent matrices

Abstract:We investigate a special class of Prüfer domains, firstly introduced by Dress in 1965. The {\it minimal Dress ring} $D_K$, of a field $K$, is the smallest subring of $K$ that contains every element of the form $1/(1+x^2)$, with $x\in K$. We show that, for some choices of $K$, $D_K$ may be a valuation domain, or, more generally, a Bézout domain admitting a weak algorithm. Then we focus on the minimal Dress ring $D$ of $\mathbb{R}(X)$: we describe its elements, we prove that it is a Dedekind domain and we characterize its non-principal ideals. Moreover, we study the products of $2\times 2$ idempotent matrices over $D$, a subject of particular interest for Prüfer non-Bézout domains.

Abstract:In this manuscript a recent topology on the positive integers generated by the collection of $\{\sigma_n:n\in\mathbb{N}\}$ where $\sigma_n:=\{m: \gcd(n,m)=1\}$ is generalized over integral domains. Some of its topological properties are studied. Properties of this topology on infinite principal ideal domains that are not fields are also explored, and a new topological proof of the infinitude of prime elements is obtained (assuming the set of units is finite or not open), different from those presented in the style of H. Furstenberg. Finally, some problems are proposed.

Non-integrally closed Kronecker function rings and integral domains with a unique minimal overring

Abstract:It is well-known that an integrally closed domain $D$ can be express as the intersection of its valuation overrings but, if $D$ is not a Prüfer domain, the most of valuation overrings of $D$ cannot be seen as localizations of $D$. The Kronecker function ring of $D$ is a classical construction of a Prüfer domain which is an overring of $D[t]$, and its localizations at prime ideals are of the form $V(t)$ where $V$ runs through the valuation overrings of $D$. This fact can be generalized to arbitrary integral domains by expressing them as intersections of overrings which admit a unique minimal overring. In this article we first continue the study of rings admitting a unique minimal overring extending known results obtained in the 70's and constructing examples where the integral closure is very far from being a valuation domain. Then we extend the definition of Kronecker function ring to the non-integrally closed setting by studying intersections of Nagata rings of the form $A(t)$ for $A$ an integral domain admitting a unique minimal overring.

On the prime spectrum of the $p$-adic integer polynomial ring with a depiction

Abstract:In 1966, David Mumford created a drawing of $\operatorname{Proj} \mathbb Z [X,Y]$ in his book, "Lectures on Curves on an Algebraic Surface". In following, he created a photo of a so-called 'arithmetic surface' $\operatorname{Spec} \mathbb Z [T]$for his 1988 book, "The Red Book of Varieties and Schemes". The depiction presents the structure of $\operatorname{Spec} \mathbb Z [T]$ as being interesting and pleasant and is a well-known picture in algebraic geometry. Taking inspiration from Mumford, we create a drawing similar to $\operatorname{Spec} \mathbb Z_p [T]$, which has a lot of similarities with $\operatorname{Spec} \mathbb Z [T]$.

Radical factorization in higher dimension

Abstract:We generalize the theory of radical factorization from almost Dedekind domain to strongly discrete Prüfer domains; we show that, for a fixed subset $X$ of maximal ideals, the finitely generated ideals with $\mathcal{V}(I)\subseteq X$ have radical factorization if and only if $X$ contains no critical maximal ideals with respect to $X$. We use these notions to prove that in the group $\mathrm{Inv}(D)$ of the invertible ideals of a strongly discrete Prüfer domains is often free: in particular, we show it when the spectrum of $D$ is Noetherian or when $D$ is a ring of integer-valued polynomials on a subset over a Dedekind domain.

On the Topology $τ_R^{\diamond}$ of Primal Topological Spaces

Abstract:The main purpose of this paper is to introduce and study two new operators $(\cdot)_R^{\diamond}$ and $cl_R^{\diamond}(\cdot)$ via primal which is a new notion. We also show that the operator $cl_R^{\diamond}(\cdot)$ is a Kuratowski closure operator, while the operator $(\cdot)_R^{\diamond}$ is not. In addition, we prove that the topology on $X$, shown as $\tau_R^{\diamond},$ obtained by means of the operator $cl_R^{\diamond}(\cdot)$ is finer than $\tau_{\delta},$ where $\tau_{\delta}$ is the family of $\delta$-open subsets of a space $(X,\tau).$ Moreover, we not only obtain a base for the topology $\tau_R^{\diamond}$ but also prove many fundamental results concerning this new structure. Furthermore, we give many counterexamples related to our results.

On $ϕ$-Prüfer like conditions

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the question of when a $\phi$-ring is $\phi$-Prüfer using two types of techniques: first, by analysing the lattice structure of the nonnil ideals of $\phi$-rings; and secondly, by considering content ideal techniques which were developed to study Gaussian polynomials. In particular, we conclude that every Gaussian $\phi$-ring is $\phi$-Prüfer. Key concepts such as $\phi$-weak global dimension, primary ideals and irreducible ideals are discussed, along with their hereditary properties in $\phi$-Prüfer rings. We also prove that any semi-local $\phi$-Prüfer ring is a $\phi$-Bézout ring. This paper includes several theorems and examples that provide insights into the $\phi$-Prüfer rings and their implications in the field of ring theory.

Abstract:We describe the prime ideals and, in particular, the maximal ideals in products $R = \prod D_\lambda$ of families $(D_\lambda)_{\lambda \in \Lambda}$ of commutative rings. We show that every maximal ideal is induced by an ultrafilter on the Boolean algebra $\prod \mathcal{P}(\max(D_\lambda))$, where $\max(D_\lambda)$ is the spectrum of maximal ideals of $D_\lambda$, and $\mathcal{P}$ denotes the power set. If every $D_\lambda$ is in a certain class of rings including finite character domains and one-dimensional domains, we completely characterize the maximal ideals of $R$. If every $D_\lambda$ is a Prüfer domain, we completely characterize all prime ideals of $R$.

Abstract:We show that every Dedekind domain $R$ lying between the polynomial rings $\mathbb Z[X]$ and $\mathbb Q[X]$ with the property that its residue fields of prime characteristic are finite fields is equal to a generalized ring of integer-valued polynomials, that is, for each prime $p\in\mathbb Z$ there exists a finite subset $E_p$ of transcendental elements over $\mathbb Q$ in the absolute integral closure $\overline{\mathbb Z_p}$ of the ring of $p$-adic integers such that $R=\{f\in\mathbb Q[X]\mid f(E_p)\subseteq \overline{\mathbb Z_p}, \forall \text{ prime }p\in\mathbb Z\}$. Moreover, we prove that the class group of $R$ is isomorphic to a direct sum of a countable family of finitely generated abelian groups. Conversely, any group of this kind is the class group of a Dedekind domain $R$ between $\mathbb Z[X]$ and $\mathbb Q[X]$.

Abstract:We show that the spectrum of the complex Laplacian on a product of hermitian manifolds is the Minkowski sum of the spectra of the complex Laplacians on the factors. We use this fact to show that the range of the d-bar operator on a product manifold is closed, provided it is closed in each factor.

Abstract:Let $R\ $be an integral domain and $R^{\#}$ the set of all nonzero nonunits of $R.\ $For every elements $a,b\in R^{\#},$ we define $a\sim b$ if and only if $aR=bR,$ that is, $a$ and $b$ are associated elements. Suppose that $EC(R^{\#})$ is the set of all equivalence classes of $R^{\#}\ $according to $\sim$.$\ $Let $U_{a}=\{[b]\in EC(R^{\#}):b\ $divides $a\}$ for every $a\in R^{\#}.$ Then we prove that the family $\{U_{a}\}_{a\in R^{\#}}$ becomes a basis for a topology on $EC(R^{\#}).\ $This topology is called divisor topology of $R\ $and denoted by $D(R).\ $We investigate the connections between the algebraic properties of $R\ $and the topological properties of$\ D(R)$. In particular, we investigate the seperation axioms on $D(R)$, first and second countability axioms, connectivity and compactness on $D(R)$. We prove that for atomic domains $R,\ $the divisor topology $D(R)\ $is a Baire space. Also, we characterize valution domains $R$ in terms of nested property of $D(R).$ In the last section, we introduce a new topological proof of the infinitude of prime elements in a UFD and integers by using the topology $D(R)$.

Abstract:Let $V$ be a valuation domain with quotient field $K$. Given a pseudo-convergent sequence $E$ in $K$, we study two constructions associating to $E$ a valuation domain of $K(X)$ lying over $V$, especially when $V$ has rank one. The first one has been introduced by Ostrowski, the second one more recently by Loper and Werner. We describe the main properties of these valuation domains, and we give a notion of equivalence on the set of pseudo-convergent sequences of $K$ characterizing when the associated valuation domains are equal. Then, we analyze the topological properties of the Zariski-Riemann spaces formed by these valuation domains.

Abstract:$\DeclareMathOperator{\Int}{Int} \DeclareMathOperator{\IntR}{Int{}^\text{R}} \newcommand{\Z}{\mathbb Z}$Let $D$ be a domain and let $\Int(D)$ and $\IntR(D)$ be the ring of integer-valued polynomials and the ring of integer-valued rational functions, respectively. Skolem proved that if $I$ is a finitely-generated ideal of $\Int(\Z)$ with all the value ideals of $I$ not being proper, then $I = \Int(\Z)$. This is known as the Skolem property, which does not hold in $\Z[x]$. One obstruction to $\Int(D)$ having the Skolem property is the existence of unit-valued polynomials. This is no longer an obstruction when we consider the Skolem property on $\IntR(D)$. We determine that the Skolem property on $\IntR(D)$ is equivalent to the maximal spectrum being contained in the ultrafilter closure of the set of maximal pointed ideals. We generalize the Skolem property using star operations and determine an analogous equivalence under this generalized notion.
