Abstract:We do two things. 1. As a corollary to a stronger linearisation result (Theorem A), we prove the finite Morley rank version of the Lie-Kolchin-Malcev theorem on Lie algebras (Corollary A2). 2. We classify Lie ring actions on modules of characteristic not 2, 3 and Morley rank 2 (Theorem B).

Abstract:We lay down the fundations of the theory of groups of finite Morley rank in which local subgroups are solvable and we proceed to the local analysis of these groups. We prove the main Uniqueness Theorem, analogous to the Bender method in finite group theory, and derive its corollaries. We also consider homogeneous cases as well as torsion.

Abstract:In the paper we give some basic properties of the superderivations of Lie superalgebras. Under certain condition, for solvable Lie superalgebras with given nilradicals, we give estimates for upper bounds to the dimensions of complementary subspaces to the nilradicals. Moreover, under the condition that an analogue of Lie's theorem is true, the description of solvable Lie superalgebras of maximal rank is obtained. Namely, we prove that an arbitrary solvable Lie superalgebra of maximal rank under the mentioned condition is isomorphic to the maximal solvable extension of nilradical of maximal rank. Finally, along with effective method of construction of solvable Lie superalgebras of maximal rank we present the description of special type of maximal solvable extension of nilpotent Lie superalgebras.

Abstract:We clarify quasi-Frobenius configurations of finite Morley rank. 1. We remove one assumption in an identification theorem by Zamour while simplifying the proof. 2. We show that a strongly embedded quasi-Frobenius configuration of odd type, is actually Frobenius. 3. For dihedral configurations, one has $\dim G = 3 \dim C$. These results rely on an interesting phenomenon of closure of non-generic matter under taking centralisers.

Abstract:We present numerous natural algebraic examples without the so-called Canonical Base Property (CBP). We prove that every commutative unitary ring of finite Morley rank without finite-index proper ideals satisfies the CBP if and only if it is a field, a ring of positive characteristic or a finite direct product of these. In addition, we also construct a CM-trivial commutative local ring with a finite residue field without the CBP. Furthermore, we also show that finite-dimensional non-associative algebras over an algebraically closed field of characteristic $0$ give rise to triangular rings without the CBP. This also applies to Baudisch's $2$-step nilpotent Lie algebras, which yields the existence of a $2$-step nilpotent group of finite Morley rank whose theory, in the pure language of groups, is CM-trivial and does not satisfy the CBP.

Abstract:An analog of the Tits building is defined and studied for commutative rings. We prove a Solomon-Tits theorem when $R$ either satisfies a stable range condition, or is the ring of $S$-integers of a global field. We then define an analog of the Steinberg module of $R$, and study it both as a $\mathbb{Z}$-module and as a representation. We find the rank of Steinberg when $R$ is a finite ring, and compute the length of $\text{St}_2(R)\otimes\mathbb{Q}$ as a $\text{GL}_2(R)$-representation when $R$ is uniserial. As an application of these results, we produce a lower bound for the rank of the top-dimensional cohomology of principal congruence subgroups of nonprime level.

Rank conditions and amenability for rings associated to graphs

Abstract:We study path rings, Cohn path rings, and Leavitt path rings associated to directed graphs, with coefficients in an arbitrary ring $R$. For each of these types of rings, we stipulate conditions on the graph that are necessary and sufficient to ensure that the ring satisfies either the rank condition or the strong rank condition whenever $R$ enjoys the same property. In addition, we apply our result for path rings and the strong rank condition to characterize the graphs that give rise to amenable path algebras and exhaustively amenable path algebras.

Abstract:This paper develops some general results about actions of finite groups on (infinite) abelian groups in the finite Morley rank category. They are linked to a range of problems on groups of finite Morley rank discussed in [16]. Crucially, these results are needed for the forthcoming work by Ayşe Berkman and myself [5] where we remove the `sharpness' assumption from [4]. Also, they yield a proof of the long standing conjecture of linearity of irreducible definable actions of simple algebraic groups on elementary abelian $p$-groups of finite Morley rank [16, Conjecture 12].

Abstract:In this paper, all biderivations of solvable Lie algebras of maximal rank g=Q⊕N are characterized. Namely, we consider a solvable Lie algebra of the form g=Q⊕N , where Q is the maximal torus subalgebra of g, N is the nilradical of g and dimQ=dimN/N2 .In the case dimQ=N we characterize the form of skew-symmetric and symmetric biderivations of g . As applications, the forms of linear commuting (skew-commuting) maps and the commutative post-Lie algebra structures on g are given.

Abstract:In the present paper, we prove that any finite nontrivial irreducible module over a rank two Lie conformal algebra [Formula: see text] is of rank one. We also describe the actions of [Formula: see text] on its finite irreducible modules explicitly. Moreover, we show that all finite nontrivial irreducible modules of finite Lie conformal algebras whose semisimple quotient is the Virasoro Lie conformal algebra are of rank one.

Abstract:Finite dimensional Lie algebras are semi-direct product of the semisimple Lie algebras and solvable Lie algebras. Brieskorn gave the connection between simple Lie algebras and simple singularities. Simple Lie algebras have been well understood, but not the solvable (nilpotent) Lie algebras. It is extremely important to establish connections between singularities and solvable (nilpotent) Lie algebras. In this article, a new natural connection between the set of complex analytic isolated hypersurface singularities and the set of finite dimensional solvable (nilpotent) Lie algebras has been constructed. We construct finite dimensional solvable (nilpotent) Lie algebras naturally from isolated hypersurface singularities. These constructions help us to understand the solvable (nilpotent) Lie algebras from the geometric point of view. Moreover, it is known that the classification of nilpotent Lie algebras in higher dimensions (> 7) remains to be a vast open area. There are one-parameter families of non-isomorphic nilpotent Lie algebras (but no two-parameter families) in dimension seven. Dimension seven is the watershed of the existence of such families. It is well-known that no such family exists in dimension less than seven, while it is hard to construct one-parameter family in dimension greater than seven. In this article, we construct an one-parameter family of solvable (resp. nilpotent) Lie algebras of dimension 11 (resp. 10) from (E) over tilde (7) singularities and show that the weak Torelli-type theorem holds. We shall also construct an one-parameter family of solvable (resp. nilpotent) Lie algebras of dimension 12 (resp. 11) from (E) over tilde (8) singularities and show that the Torelli-type theorem holds. Moreover, we investigate the numerical relation between the dimensions of the new Lie algebras and Yau algebras. Finally, the new Lie algebras arising from fewnomial isolated singularities are also computed.
Infinite rank module categories over finite dimensional $\mathfrak{sl}_2$-modules in Lie-algebraic context

Abstract:We study locally finitary realizations of simple transitive module categories of infinite rank over the monoidal category $\mathscr{C}$ of finite dimensional modules for the complex Lie algebra $\mathfrak{sl}_2$. Combinatorics of such realizations is governed by six infinite Coxeter diagrams. We show that five of these are realizable in our setup, while one (type $B_\infty$) is not. We also describe the $\mathscr{C}$-module subcategories of $\mathfrak{sl}_2$-mod generated by simple modules as well as the $\mathscr{C}$-module categories coming from the natural action of $\mathscr{C}$ on the categories of finite dimensional modules over Lie subalgebras of $\mathfrak{sl}_2$.

Abstract:We define a congruence module $\Psi_A(M)$ associated to a surjective $\mathcal O$-algebra morphism $\lambda\colon A \to \mathcal{O}$, with $\mathcal{O}$ a discrete valuation ring, $A$ a complete noetherian local $\mathcal{O}$-algebra regular at $\mathfrak{p}$, the kernel of $\lambda$, and $M$ a finitely generated $A$-module. We establish a numerical criterion for $M$ to have a free direct summand over $A$ of positive rank. It is in terms of the lengths of $\Psi_A(M)$ and the torsion part of $\mathfrak{p}/\mathfrak{p}^2$. It generalizes results of Wiles, Lenstra, and Diamond, that deal with the case when the codimension of $\mathfrak{p}$ is zero. Number theoretic applications include integral (non-minimal) $R=\mathbb T$ theorems in situations of positive defect conditional on certain standard conjectures. Here $R$ is a deformation ring parametrizing certain Galois representations and $\mathbb T$ is a Hecke algebra. An example is a modularity lifting for 2-dimensional $\ell$-adic Galois representations over an imaginary quadratic field. The proofs combine our commutative algebra results with a generalization due to Calegari and Geraghty of the patching method of Wiles and Taylor--Wiles and level raising arguments that go back to Ribet. The results provide new evidence in favor of the intriguing, and as yet fledgling, torsion analog of the classical Langlands correspondence. We also prove unconditional integral $R=\mathbb T$ results for Hecke algebras $\mathbb T$ acting on weight one cohomology of Shimura curves over $\mathbb Q$. This leads to a torsion Jacquet--Langlands correspondence comparing integral Hecke algebras acting on weight one cohomology of Shimura curves and modular curves. In this case the cohomology has abundant torsion and so our correspondence cannot be deduced by means of the classical Jacquet--Langlands correspondence.

Abstract:Let $G$ be an infinite simple group of finite Morley rank and of Prüfer $2$-rank $1$ which admits a supertight automorphism $\alpha$ such that the fixed-point subgroup $C_G(\alpha^n)$ is pseudofinite for all integers $n > 0$. We prove that $G \cong {\rm PGL}_2(K)$ for some algebraically closed field $K$ of characteristic $\neq 2$.

Abstract:We study left invariant locally conformally product structures on simply connected Lie groups and give their complete description in the solvable unimodular case. Based on previous classification results, we then obtain the complete list of solvable unimodular Lie algebras up to dimension 5 which carry LCP structures, and study the existence of lattices in the corresponding simply connected Lie groups.

Abstract:We discuss the classification of 2-solvable Frobenius Lie algebras. We prove that every 2-solvable Frobenius Lie algebra splits as a semidirect sum of an n-dimensional vector space V and an n-dimensional maximal Abelian subalgebra (MASA) of the full space of endomorphisms of V. We supply a complete classification of 2-solvable Frobenius Lie algebras corresponding to nonderogatory endomorphisms, as well as those given by maximal Abelian nilpotent subalgebras (MANS) of class 2, hence of Kravchuk signature (n-1,0,1). In low dimensions, we classify all 2-solvable Frobenius Lie algebras in general up to dimension 8. We correct and complete the classification list of MASAs of sl(4, R) by Winternitz and Zassenhaus. As a biproduct, we give a simple proof that every nonderogatory endormorphism of a real vector space admits a Jordan form and also provide a new characterization of Cartan subalgebras of sl(n, R).

The strong Lefschetz property of certain modules over Clements-Lindström rings

Abstract:We introduce a method for studying the Lefschetz properties for $k[x,y]$-modules based on the Lindström-Gessel-Viennot Lemma. In particular, we prove that certain modules over Artinian Clements-Lindström rings in characteristic zero have the strong Lefschetz property. In particular, we show that every homogeneous idea in a Clements-Lindström ring of embedding dimension two has the strong Lefschetz property. As an application, we study the strong Lefschetz property of type two monomial ideals of codimension three.

A Lazard correspondence for post-Lie rings and skew braces

Abstract:We develop a Lazard correspondence between post-Lie rings and skew braces that satisfy a natural completeness condition. This is done through a thorough study of how the Lazard correspondence behaves on semi-direct sums of Lie rings. In particular, for a prime $p$ and $k<p$, we obtain a correspondence between skew braces of order $p^k$ and left nilpotent post-Lie rings of order $p^k$ on a nilpotent Lie ring. This therefore extends results by Smoktunowicz.
