Abstract:We study the strict stability of calibrated cones with an isolated singularity. For special Lagrangian cones and coassociative cones, we prove the strict stability. In the complex case, we give non-strictly stable examples.

Abstract:We discover a “no semistability at infinity” phenomenon for complete Calabi-Yau metrics asymptotic to cones, which is proved by eliminating the possible appearance of an intermediate K-semistable cone in the 2-step degeneration theory developed by Donaldson and the first author. It is in sharp contrast to the setting of local singularities of Kähler-Einstein metrics. A byproduct of the proof is a polynomial convergence rate to the asymptotic cone for such manifolds, which bridges the gap between the general theory of Colding-Minicozzi and the classification results of Conlon-Hein.

Abstract:Let $X$ be a complex projective variety with only canonical singularities and with trivial canonical bundle. Let $L$ be an ample line bundle on $X$. Assume that the pair $(X,L)$ is the flat limit of a family of smooth polarized Calabi-Yau manifolds. Assume that for each singular point $x \in X$ there exist a Kahler-Einstein Fano manifold $Z$ and a positive integer $q$ dividing $K_Z$ such that $-\frac{1}{q}K_Z$ is very ample and such that the germ $(X,x)$ is locally analytically isomorphic to a neighborhood of the vertex of the blow-down of the zero section of $\frac{1}{q}K_{Z}$. We prove that up to biholomorphism, the unique weak Ricci-flat Kahler metric representing $2\pi c_1(L)$ on $X$ is asymptotic at a polynomial rate near $x$ to the natural Ricci-flat Kahler cone metric on $\frac{1}{q}K_Z$ constructed using the Calabi ansatz. In particular, our result applies if $(X, \mathcal{O}(1))$ is a nodal quintic threefold in $\mathbb{P}^4$. This provides the first known examples of compact Ricci-flat manifolds with non-orbifold isolated conical singularities.

Abstract:We obtain the instability of Type (II) Lawson-Osserman cones in Euclidean spaces, and thus provide a family of (uncountably many) unstable solutions with singularity to the Dirichlet problem for minimal graphs of high codimension versus smooth unstable ones by Lawson-Osserman through a min-max technique. To our knowledge, these are the first examples of non-smooth unstable minimal graphs and unlikely detectible through the mean curvature flow or min-max theory.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider nonsymmetric solutions to certain Lyapunov and Riccati equations and inequalities with coefficient matrices corresponding to cone-preserving dynamical systems. Most results presented here appear to be novel even in the special case of positive systems. First, we provide a simple eigenvalue criterion for a Sylvester equation to admit a cone-preserving solution. For a single system preserving a self-dual cone, this reduces to stability. Further, we provide a set of conditions equivalent to testing a given H-infinity norm bound, as in the bounded real lemma. These feature the stability of a coefficient matrix similar to the Hamiltonian, a solution to two conic inequalities, and a stabilizing cone-preserving solution to a nonsymmetric Riccati equation. Finally, we show that the H-infinity norm is attained at zero frequency.

Abstract:In this paper we study the analytic tangent cones of admissible Hermitian-Yang-Mills connections near a homogeneous singularity of a reflexive sheaf, and relate it to the Harder-Narasimhan-Seshadri filtration. We also give an algebro-geometric characterization of the bubbling set. This strengthens our previous result.

Abstract:We prove a number of results relating various measures (volume, Legendrian index, stability index, and spectral curve genus) of the geometric complexity of special Lagrangian $T^2$-cones. We explain how these results fit into a program to understand the "most common" three-dimensional isolated singularities of special Lagrangian submanifolds in almost Calabi-Yau manifolds.

Abstract:After providing an explicit K-stability condition for a $\mathbb{Q}$-Gorenstein log spherical cone, we prove the existence and uniqueness of an equivariant K-stable degeneration of the cone, and deduce uniqueness of the asymptotic cone of a given complete $K$-invariant Calabi-Yau metric in the trivial class of an affine $G$-spherical manifold, $K$ being the maximal compact subgroup of $G$.

Abstract:We prove that for a locally stable family of klt singularities with constant local volume, the ideal sequences of the minimizing valuations for the normalized volume function form a family of ideals with flat cosupport, which induces a degeneration to a locally stable family of K-semistable log Fano cone singularities. Our proof is a family version of the method of C. Xu and Z. Zhuang proving finite generation by Kollár models and multiple degenerations.

Abstract:We extend Smale's singular bridge principle (see \cite{NS2}) for $n$-dimensional strictly stable minimal cones in $\mathbb{R}^{n+1}$ $(n \geq 7$) to arbitrary codimension when $n \geq 4$. We then apply the procedure to copies of the Lawson-Osserman cone to produce a four dimensional minimal graph in $\mathbb{R}^7$ with any finite number of isolated singularities.

Abstract:In this article we study the tangent cones at first time singularity of a Lagrangian mean curvature flow. If the initial compact submanifold Σ0 is Lagrangian and almost calibrated by ReΩ in a Calabi-Yau n-fold (M,Ω), and T>0 is the first blow-up time of the mean curvature flow, then the tangent cone of the mean curvature flow at a singular point (X0,T) is a stationary Lagrangian integer multiplicity current in R2n with volume density greater than one at X0. When n=2, the tangent cone is a finite union of at least two 2-planes in R4 which are complex in a complex structure on R4.

Abstract:For $s \in (0,1)$ small, we show that the only cones in $\mathbb{R}^2$ stationary for the $s$-perimeter and stable in $\mathbb{R}^2 \setminus \{0\}$ are hyperplanes. This is in direct contrast with the case of the classical perimeter or the regime $s$ close to $1$, where nontrivial cones as $\{xy>0\} \subset \mathbb{R}^2$ are stable for inner variations.

Abstract:We give a non-Archimedean characterization of K-semistability of log Fano cone singularities, and show that it agrees with the definition originally defined by Collins--Székelyhidi. As an application, we show that to test K-semistability, it suffices to test special test configurations. We also show that special test configurations give rise to lc places of torus equivariant bounded complements.

Abstract:We construct proper moduli algebraic spaces of K-polystable $\mathbb{Q}$-Fano cones (a.k.a. Calabi-Yau cones) or equivalently their links i.e., Sasaki-Einstein manifolds with singularities. As a byproduct, it gives alternative algebraic construction of proper K-moduli of $\mathbb{Q}$-Fano varieties. In contrast to the previous algebraic proof of its properness ([BHLLX, LXZ]), we do not use the $\delta$-invariants ([FO, BJ]) nor the $L^2$-normalized Donaldson-Futaki invariants. We use the local normalized volume of [Li] and the higher $\Theta$-stable reduction instead.

Boundedness of stable minimal models with klt singularities

Abstract:We investigate the singularities and boundedness of a special kind of algebraic varieties so-called stable minimal models, which are constructed and studied by Birkar. Given a klt stable minimal model with bounded relative volume, if we fix the dimension, Iitaka volume, and a DCC set controlling coefficients, then we show that the singularities of the klt stable minimal model can be controlled uniformly. Furthermore, we prove that with certain bounded data, stable minimal models with klt singularities form a bounded family.
