These results generalize the result of Pan and Ding [37] and constitutes an improvement upon a series of previous results of [29,31,39,47].

Abstract:In this paper we solve the ternary Piatetski-Shapiro inequality with prime numbers of a special form. More precisely we show that, for any fixed $1<c<\frac{427}{400}$, every sufficiently large positive number $N$ and a small constant $\varepsilon>0$, the diophantine inequality \begin{equation*} |p_1^c+p_2^c+p_3^c-N|<\varepsilon \end{equation*} has a solution in prime numbers $p_1,\,p_2,\,p_3$, such that $p_1=x^2 + y^2 +1$. For this purpose we establish a new Bombieri -- Vinogradov type result for exponential sums over primes.

Abstract:We prove that, for any $c_1,c_2,c_3\in(1,41/35)$, every sufficiently large odd number $N$ can be represented as the sum of three primes $N = p_1 + p_2 +p_3$ such that $p_i = \lfloor n_{i}^{c_i}\rfloor$ for some $n_i \in{\mathbb N}$ for each $1 \leq i \leq 3$. Our arguments are based on a variant of Green's transference principle due to Matomäki, Maynard and Shao. We prove a necessary restriction estimate using Bourgain's strategy and employ Harman's sieve method to optimize our upper bound for $c_i$.

Abstract:The Piatetski-Shapiro sequences are of the form $\mathcal{N}^{(c)} := (\lfloor n^c \rfloor)_{n=1}^\infty$ with $c > 1, c \not\in \mathbb{N}$. In this paper, we study the distribution of pairs $(p, p^{\#})$ of consecutive primes such that $p \in \mathcal{N}^{(c_1)}$ and $p^{\#} \in \mathcal{N}^{(c_2)}$ for $c_1, c_2 > 1$ and give a conjecture with the prime counting functions of the pairs $(p, p^{\#})$. We give a heuristic argument to support this prediction which relies on a strong form of the Hardy-Littlewood conjecture. Moreover, we prove a proposition related to the average of singular series with a weight of a complex exponential function.

Abstract:A frequently cited theorem says that for n > 0 and prime p, the sum of the first p n-th powers is congruent to -1 modulo p if p-1 divides n, and to 0 otherwise. We survey the main ingredients in several known proofs. Then we give an elementary proof, using an identity for power sums proven by Pascal in 1654. An application is a simple proof of a congruence for certain sums of binomial coefficients, due to Hermite and Bachmann.

Abstract:We obtain a new bound on exponential sums over integers without large prime divisors, improving that of Fouvry and Tenenbaum (1991). The improvement is based on exploiting the trilinear structure of certain exponential sums, appearing in the argument. We combine this idea with some input from additive combinatorics and, for a fixed integer $\nu\ne 0$, we also obtain new bounds on exponential sums with $\nu$-th powers of such integers.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove an asymptotic formula for the number of relatively prime pairs in the Piatetski-Shapiro sequence of arbitrarily large order. This improves the result of Pimsert, Srichan and Tangsupphathawat (2023), the order of which was restricted to be $<\frac{3}{2}$. The key ingredients of the proof are a simple averaging trick and an extension of Deshouillers' result on the distribution of the Piatetski-Shapiro sequence in arithmetic progressions.

Abstract:In this paper we establish function field versions of two classical conjectures on prime numbers. The first says that the number of primes in intervals (x,x+xϵ] is about xϵ/logx. The second says that the number of primes p<x in the arithmetic progression p≡a(modd), for d<x1−δ, is about π(x)ϕ(d), where ϕ is the Euler totient function. More precisely, for short intervals we prove: Let k be a fixed integer. Then πq(I(f,ϵ))∼#I(f,ϵ)k,q→∞ holds uniformly for all prime powers q, degree k monic polynomials f∈Fq[t] and ϵ0(f,q)≤ϵ, where ϵ0 is either 1k, or 2k if p∣k(k−1), or 3k if further p=2 and degf'≤1. Here I(f,ϵ)={g∈Fq[t]∣deg(f−g)≤ϵdegf}, and πq(I(f,ϵ)) denotes the number of prime polynomials in I(f,ϵ). We show that this estimation fails in the neglected cases. For arithmetic progressions we prove: let k be a fixed integer. Then πq(k;D,f)∼πq(k)ϕ(D),q→∞, holds uniformly for all relatively prime polynomials D,f∈Fq[t] satisfying ‖D‖≤qk(1−δ0), where δ0 is either 3k or 4k if p=2 and (f/D)' is a constant. Abstract:In 1845, Bertrand conjectured that twice any prime strictly exceeds the next prime. Tchebichef proved Bertrand's postulate in 1850. In 1934, Ishikawa proved a stronger result: the sum of any two consecutive primes strictly exceeds the next prime, except for the only equality $2+3=5$. This observation is a special case of a more general result, perhaps not previously noticed: if $p_n$ denotes the $n$th prime, $n=1, 2, \ldots$, with $p_1=2, p_2=3, \ldots$, and if $c_1, \ldots, c_g$ are nonnegative integers (not necessarily distinct), and $d_1, \ldots, d_h$ are positive integers (not necessarily distinct), and $g>h\ge 1$, then there exists a positive integer $N$ such that $p_{n-c_1}+p_{n-c_2}+\cdots +p_{n-c_g}>p_{n+d_1}+\cdots +p_{n+d_h}$ for all $n\ge N$. We prove this result using only the prime number theorem. For any instance of this result, we sketch a way to find the least possible $N$. We give some numerical results and unanswered questions.

Abstract:The first purpose of our paper is to show how Hooley's celebrated method leading to his conditional proof of the Artin conjecture on primitive roots can be combined with the Hardy–Littlewood circle method. We do so by studying the number of representations of an odd integer as a sum of three primes, all of which have prescribed primitive roots. The second purpose is to analyse the singular series. In particular, using results of Lenstra, Stevenhagen and Moree, we provide a partial factorisation as an Euler product and prove that this does not extend to a complete factorisation.
