Abstract:In this paper, we study the shadowing and the stability properties for non-invertible $p$-adic dynamics. In particular, the spaces considered are those of the $p$-adic integers $\mathbb{Z}_p$ and the $p$-adic numbers $\mathbb{Q}_p$, where $p \geq 2$ is a prime number.

Abstract:Let p⩾2 be a prime number and let Zp be the ring of all p-adic integers. For all α,β,z∈Zp, define Tα,β(z)=αz+β. It is shown that the dynamical system (Zp,Tα,β) is minimal if and only if α∈1+prpZp and β is a unit, here rp=1 (respectively rp=2) if p⩾3 (respectively if p=2), and that when it is minimal, it is strictly ergodic and topologically conjugate to (Zp,T1,1) with an analytic and isometric conjugacy. More importantly, when the system is not minimal, we find all its strictly ergodic components. As application, monomial systems Sn,ρ(z)=ρzn on the group 1+pZp are also discussed.
Unlikely intersection in higher-dimensional formal groups and $p$-adic dynamical systems

Abstract:In this work, we study arithmetic dynamical questions for formal groups and $p$-adic dynamical systems in higher dimensions, and thus we generalize some earlier results that appeared in the literature. We identify a certain class of higher-dimensional formal groups over the ring of $p$-adic integers such that any two formal groups in that class coincide if they share infinitely many torsion points. We also prove that if $\mathcal{D}_1$ and $\mathcal{D}_2$ are $d$-dimensional stable $p$-adic dynamical systems with infinitely many preperiodic points in common, then $\mathcal{D}_1$ and $\mathcal{D}_2$ coincide. As a useful application, we provide a sufficient condition for two abelian varieties to be isogenous just by looking at their $p$-power torsion points.

Abstract:In the early 1970's Eisenberg and Hedlund investigated relationships between expansivity and spectrum of operators on Banach spaces. In this paper we establish relationships between notions of expansivity and hypercyclicity, supercyclicity, Li–Yorke chaos and shadowing. In the case that the Banach space is c 0 or ℓ p ( 1 ≤ p < ∞ ), we give complete characterizations of weighted shifts which satisfy various notions of expansivity. We also establish new relationships between notions of expansivity and spectrum. Moreover, we study various notions of shadowing for operators on Banach spaces. In particular, we solve a basic problem in linear dynamics by proving the existence of nonhyperbolic invertible operators with the shadowing property. This contrasts with the expected results for nonlinear dynamics on compact manifolds, illuminating the richness of dynamics of infinite dimensional linear operators.

Abstract:For each prime number $p$, the dynamical behavior of the square mapping on the ring $\mathbb{Z}_p$ of $p$-adic integers is studied. For $p=2$, there are only attracting fixed points with their attracting basins. For $p\geq 3$, there are a fixed point $0$ with its attracting basin, finitely many periodic points around which there are countably many minimal components and some balls of radius $1/p$ being attracting basins. All these minimal components are precisely exhibited for different primes $p$.

Abstract:Let ${\nu}_q(n)$ be the p-adic valuation of $n$. We show that the power series with coefficients ${\nu}_q(n)$, respectively ${\nu}_p(n)(\mathrm{ mod\;} k)$, are non-holonomic and not algebraic in characteristic 0. We find infinitely many rational numbers and infinitely many algebraic irrational numbers for which the values of these series are transcendental. We apply these results to some $p$-automatic sequences, one of them being the period-doubling sequence.

Abstract:DeMarco, Krieger, and Ye conjectured that there is a uniform bound B , depending only on the degree d , so that any pair of holomorphic maps with degree will either share all of their preperiodic points or have at most in common. Here we show that this uniform bound holds for a Zariski open and dense set in the space of all pairs, , for each degree . The proof involves a combination of arithmetic intersection theory and complex-dynamical results, especially as developed recently by Gauthier and Vigny, Yuan and Zhang, and Mavraki and Schmidt. In addition, we present alternate proofs of the main results of DeMarco, Krieger, and Ye [ Uniform Manin-Mumford for a family of genus 2 curves , Ann. of Math. (2) 191 (2020), 949–1001; Common preperiodic points for quadratic polynomials , J. Mod. Dyn. 18 (2022), 363–413] and of Poineau [ Dynamique analytique sur II : Écart uniforme entre Lattès et conjecture de Bogomolov-Fu-Tschinkel , Preprint (2022), arXiv:2207.01574 [math.NT]]. In fact, we prove a generalization of a conjecture of Bogomolov, Fu, and Tschinkel in a mixed setting of dynamical systems and elliptic curves.

Abstract:Complex dynamical systems on the Riemann sphere do not possess ``invariant forms''. However there exist non-trivial examples of dynamical systems, defined over number fields, satisfying the property that their reduction modulo $\wp$ possesses ``invariant forms'' for all but finitely many places $\wp$. The paper completely characterizes those dynamical systems possessing the latter property.

Abstract:We give a dynamical construction of an infinite sequence of distinct totally $p$-adic algebraic numbers whose Weil heights tend to the limit $\frac{\log p}{p-1}$, thus giving a new proof of a result of Bombieri-Zannier. The proof is essentially equivalent to the explicit calculation of the Arakelov-Zhang pairing of the maps $\sigma(x)=x^2$ and $\phi_p(x)=\frac{1}{p}(x^p-x)$.

An application of $p$-adic integration to the dynamics of a birational transformation preserving a fibration

Abstract:Let $f\colon X \dashrightarrow X$ be a birational transformation of a projective manifold $X$ whose Kodaira dimension $\kappa(X)$ is non-negative. We show that, if there exist a meromorphic fibration $\pi \colon X\dashrightarrow B$ and a pseudo-automorphism $f_B\colon B\dashrightarrow B$ which preserves a big line bundle $L\in Pic(B)$ and such that $f_B\circ \pi=\pi\circ f$, then $f_B$ has finite order. As a corollary we show that, for projective irreducible symplectic manifolds of type $K3^{[n]}$ or generalized Kummer, the first dynamical degree characterizes the birational transformations admitting a Zariski-dense orbit.

Abstract:Let F : V --> V be a self-morphism of a quasiprojective variety defined over a number field K and let P be a point in V(K) with infinite orbit under iteration of F. For each prime ideal p of good reduction, let m_p(F,P) be the size of the F-orbit of the reduction of P modulo p. Fix any e > 0. We show that for almost all primes p, in the sense of analytic density, the orbit size m_p(F,P) is larger than (log(N(p)))^(1-e), where N(p) is the norm of the ideal p.

Abstract:We initiate the study of p-adic algebraic groups G from the stability-theoretic and definable topological-dynamical points of view, that is, we consider invariants of the action of G on its space of types over Q(p) in the language of fields. We consider the additive and multiplicative groups of Q(p), and Z(p), the group of upper triangular invertible 2 x 2 matrices, SL(2, Z(p)), and our main focus, SL(2, Q(p)). In all cases we identify f-generic types (when they exist), minimal subflows, and idempotents. Among the main results is that the "Ellis group" of SL(2, Q(p)) is (Z) over cap x Z(p)*, yielding a counterexample to Newelski's conjecture with new features: G = G(00)= G(000) but the Ellis group is infinite. A final section deals with the action of SL(2, Q(p)) on the type space of the projective line over Q(p).
On shadowing and Stochastic Stability

Abstract:In this paper, we study stochastic stability of a dynamical system with shadowing property, which evolves under small random perturbation. We prove that time averages along the pseudo-trajectory converge with respect to stationary measure for the randomly perturbed dynamics. In particular, we prove that stationary measures converge to physical measures when the noise level goes to zero if dynamical system has a shadowing property.

Abstract:Let $p\geq 3$ be a prime. In this article, we introduce two arithmetic invariants (hyper-tame index and hyper-inertia index) of the hyper-algebraic elements in the $p$-adic Mal'cev-Neumann field $\mathbb{L}_p$. For $p$-adic algebraic numbers that generate abelian extensions and tamely ramified extensions of $\mathbb{Q}_p$, we calculate their hyper-tame indexes and hyper-inertia indexes.

Abstract:We consider p-adic affine dynamical systems on the ring Zp of all p-adic integers, and we find a necessary and sufficient condition for such a system to be minimal. The minimality is equivalent to the transitivity, the ergodicity of the Haar measure, the unique ergodicity, and the strict ergodicity. When the condition is not satisfied, we prove that the system can be decomposed into strict ergodic subsystems. Abstract:In this paper we consider function $f(x)={x+a\over bx+c}$, (where $b\ne 0$, $c\ne ab$, $x\ne -{c\over b}$) on three fields: the set of real, $p$-adic and complex numbers. We study dynamical systems generated by this function on each field separately and give some comparison remarks. For real variable case we show that the real dynamical system of the function depends on the parameters $(a,b,c)\in \mathbb R^3$. Namely, we classify the parameters to three sets and prove that: for the parameters from first class each point, for which the trajectory is well defined, is a periodic point of $f$; for the parameters from second class any trajectory (under $f$) converges to one of fixed points (there may be up to two fixed points); for the parameters from third class any trajectory is dense in $\mathbb R$. For the $p$-adic variable we give a review of known results about dynamical systems of function $f$. Then using a recently developed method we give simple new proofs of these results and prove some new ones related to trajectories which do not converge. For the complex variables we give a review of known results.

Abstract:We study the circle restrictions of inner functions of the unit disc showing that the local invertibility of a restriction is independent of its singularity set and proving a local characterization of analytic conditional expectations. We establish central limit properties for some stochastic processes driven by probability preserving restrictions via spectral analysis of their perturbed transfer operators.

Due to Williams, to each $p$-stabilization $\mathcal{F}^{*,\dagger}$, we can attach a locally analytic distribution $L_{p}(\mathcal{F}^{*,\dagger})$ over the ray class group $\text{Cl}(K,p^{\infty})$. On viewing $L_{p}(\mathcal{F}^{*,\dagger})$ as a two-variable power series with coefficients in some $p$-adic field having unbounded denominators satisfying certain growth conditions, we decompose this power series into a linear combination of power series with bounded coefficients in the spirit of Pollack, Sprung, and Lei-Loeffler-Zerbes.
