Abstract:We solve two problems in representation theory for the periplectic Lie superalgebra pe(n), namely the description of the primitive spectrum in terms of functorial realisations of the braid group and the decomposition of category O into indecomposable blocks. To solve the first problem we establish a new type of equivalence between category O for all (not just simple or basic) classical Lie superalgebras and a category of Harish-Chandra bimodules. The latter bimodules have a left action of the Lie superalgebra but a right action of the underlying Lie algebra. To solve the second problem we establish a BGG reciprocity result for the periplectic Lie superalgebra.

Abstract:We show that Lubin-Tate spectra at the prime $2$ are Real oriented and Real Landweber exact. The proof is by application of the Goerss-Hopkins-Miller theorem to algebras with involution. For each height $n$, we compute the entire homotopy fixed point spectral sequence for $E_n$ with its $C_2$-action given by the formal inverse. We study, as the height varies, the Hurewicz images of the stable homotopy groups of spheres in the homotopy of these $C_2$-fixed points.

Uniformly dominant local rings and Orlov spectra of singularity categories

Abstract:We define a uniformly dominant local ring as a commutative noetherian local ring with an integer r such that the residue field is built from any nonzero object in the singularity category by direct summands, shifts and at most r mapping cones. We find sufficient conditions for uniform dominance, by which we show Burch rings and local rings with quasi-decomposable maximal ideal are uniformly dominant. For a uniformly dominant excellent equicharacteristic isolated singularity, we get an upper bound of the Orlov spectrum of the singularity category. We prove uniform dominance is preserved under basic operations, and give techniques to construct uniformly dominant local rings. An application of our methods to local rings with decomposable maximal ideal is provided as well.

Abstract:In \cite{PS}, for a stably framed Liouville manifold $X$ we defined a Donaldson-Fukaya category $\mathcal{F}(X;\mathbb{S})$ over the sphere spectrum, and developed an obstruction theory for lifting quasi-isomorphisms from $\mathcal{F}(X;\mathbb{Z})$ to $\mathcal{F}(X;\mathbb{S})$. Here, we define a spectral Donaldson-Fukaya category for any `graded tangential pair' $\Theta \to \Phi$ of spaces living over $BO \to BU$, whose objects are Lagrangians $L\to X$ for which the classifying maps of their tangent bundles lift to $\Theta \to \Phi$. The previous case corresponded to $\Theta = \Phi = \{\mathrm{pt}\}$. We extend our obstruction theory to this setting. The flexibility to `tune' the choice of $\Theta$ and $\Phi$ increases the range of cases in which one can kill the obstructions, with applications to bordism classes of Lagrangian embeddings in the corresponding bordism theory $\Omega^{(\Theta,\Phi),\circ}_*$. We include a self-contained discussion of when (exact) spectral Floer theory over a ring spectrum $R$ should exist, which may be of independent interest.

Abstract:In this article, we investigate the Gorenstein global dimension with respect to the recollements of abelian categories. With the invariants spli and silp of the categories, we give some upper bounds of Gorenstein global dimensions of the categories involved in a recollement of abelian categories. We apply our results to some rings and artin algebras, especially to the triangular matrix artin algebras.

Abstract:In his fundamental work, Quillen developed the theory of the cotangent complex as a universal abelian derived invariant, and used it to define and study a canonical form of cohomology, encompassing many known cohomology theories. Additional cohomology theories, such as generalized cohomology of spaces and topological André-Quillen cohomology, can be accommodated by considering a spectral version of the cotangent complex. Recent work of Lurie established a comprehensive $\infty$-categorical analogue of the cotangent complex formalism using stabilization of $\infty$-categories. In this paper we study the spectral cotangent complex while working in Quillen's model categorical setting. Our main result gives new and explicit computations of the cotangent complex and Quillen cohomology of enriched categories. For this we make essential use of previous work, which identifies the tangent categories of operadic algebras in unstable model categories. In particular, we present the cotangent complex of an $\infty$-category as a spectrum valued functor on its twisted arrow category, and consider the associated obstruction theory in some examples of interest.

Categorical spectra as pointed $(\infty,\mathbb{Z})$-categories

Abstract:Lessard's $\mathbb{Z}$-categories are an analogue of $\omega$-categories possessing cells in all positive and negative dimensions. Categorical spectra, developed by Stefanich, are an analogue of spectra obtained by replacing the suspension of pointed $\infty$-groupoids by that of pointed $(\infty,\omega)$-categories. We give an $\infty$-categorical definition of weak $\mathbb{Z}$-categories (alias $(\infty,\mathbb{Z})$-categories), and show categorical spectra to be equivalent to pointed $(\infty,\mathbb{Z})$-categories. In particular, we show that the stable cells of categorical spectra coincide with the natural cells of $(\infty,\mathbb{Z})$-categories, and recover Lessard's description of spectra as pointed weak $\mathbb{Z}$-groupoids.

Abstract:We describe Calabi-Yau objects in the regular block of the (parabolic) BGG category $\mathcal{O}$ associated to a semi-simple finite dimensional complex Lie algebra. Each such object comes with a natural transformation from the Serre functor to a shifted identity whose evaluation at that object is an isomorphism.

Auslander-Reiten theory in proper abelian subcategories

Abstract:We study Auslander-Reiten theory in proper abelian subcategories of triangulated categories with a Serre functor. To initiate this, we use approximations of a Serre functor to construct Nakayama functors, which in turn allow for the construction of Auslander-Reiten translates and the existence of Auslander-Reiten sequences in suitable proper abelian subcategories. As an application, we recover the existence of Auslander-Reiten sequences in the category of finite dimensional modules over a finite dimensional algebra.

Abstract:Let C be a finite EI category and k be a field. We consider the category algebra kC. Suppose K(C)=D^b(kC-mod) is the bounded derived category of finitely generated left modules. This is a tensor triangulated category and we compute its spectrum in the sense of Balmer. When C=G*P is a finite transporter category, the category algebra becomes Gorenstein so we can define the stable module category \CM k(G*P), of maximal Cohen-Macaulay modules, as a quotient category of K(G*P). Since \CM k(G*P) is also tensor triangulated, we compute its spectrum as well. These spectra are used to classify tensor ideal thick subcategories of the corresponding tensor triangulated categories, despite the fact that the previously mentioned tensor categories are not rigid.

Hecke orbits and the Mordell-Lang conjecture in distinguished categories

Abstract:Inspired by recent work of Aslanyan and Daw, we introduce the notion of $\Sigma$-orbits in the general framework of distinguished categories. In the setting of connected Shimura varieties, this concept contains many instances of (generalized) Hecke orbits from the literature. In the setting of semiabelian varieties, a $\Sigma$-orbit is a subgroup of finite rank. We show that our $\Sigma$-orbits have useful functorial properties and we use them to formulate two general statements of Mordell-Lang type (a weak one and an apparently stronger one). We prove an analogue of a recent theorem of Aslanyan and Daw in this general setting, which we apply to deduce an unconditional result about unlikely intersections in a fibered power of the Legendre family.

Abstract:In 2005, Balmer defined the ringed space $\operatorname{Spec}_\otimes \mathcal{T}$ for a given tensor triangulated category, while in 2023, the second author introduced the ringed space $\operatorname{Spec}_\vartriangle \mathcal{T}$ for a given triangulated category. In the algebro-geometric context, these spectra provided several reconstruction theorems using derived categories. In this paper, we prove that $\operatorname{Spec}_{\otimes_X^\mathbb{L}} \operatorname{Perf} X$ is an open ringed subspace of $\operatorname{Spec}_\vartriangle \operatorname{Perf} X$ for a quasi-projective variety $X$. As an application, we provide a new proof of the Bondal-Orlov and Ballard reconstruction theorems in terms of these spectra. Recently, the first author introduced the Fourier-Mukai locus $\operatorname{Spec}^\mathsf{FM} \operatorname{Perf} X$ for a smooth projective variety $X$, which is constructed by gluing Fourier-Mukai partners of $X$ inside $\operatorname{Spec}_\vartriangle \operatorname{Perf} X$. As another application of our main theorem, we demonstrate that $\operatorname{Spec}^\mathsf{FM} \operatorname{Perf} X$ can be viewed as an open ringed subspace of $\operatorname{Spec}_\vartriangle \operatorname{Perf} X$. As a result, we show that all the Fourier-Mukai partners of an abelian variety $X$ can be reconstructed by topologically identifying the Fourier-Mukai locus within $\operatorname{Spec}_\vartriangle \operatorname{Perf} X$.

Model Categories for Orthogonal Calculus

Abstract:We restate the notion of orthogonal calculus in terms of model categories. This provides a cleaner set of results and makes the role of O(n)-equivariance clearer. Thus we develop model structures for the category of n-polynomial and n-homogeneous functors, along with Quillen pairs relating them. We then classify n-homogeneous functors, via a zig-zag of Quillen equivalences, in terms of spectra with an O(n)-action. This improves upon the classification of Weiss. As an application, we develop a variant of orthogonal calculus by replacing topological spaces with orthogonal spectra.

Abstract:The Orlik-Solomon algebra ${\cal A}(G)$ of a matroid $G$ is the free exterior algebra on the points, modulo the ideal generated by the circuit boundaries. On one hand, this algebra is a homotopy invariant of the complement of any complex hyperplane arrangement realizing $G$. On the other hand, some features of the matroid $G$ are reflected in the algebraic structure of ${\cal A}(G)$. In this mostly expository article, we describe recent developments in the construction of algebraic invariants of ${\cal A}(G)$. We develop a categorical framework for the statement and proof of recently discovered isomorphism theorems which suggests a possible setting for classification theorems. Several specific open problems are formulated.

Abstract:We present a survey on the latest development in the representation theory of algebras with Frobenius morphisms. This includes a generalization of the graph and root system folding relation to folding relations at the representation level, at the category level, and further at the derived category level. As an application, we use it to approach Kac’s theory for Kac-Moody algebras with symmetrizable Cartan matrices.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider real and complex algebras as well as algebras over general fields. In Section 2, we revisit and prove several results on (quadratic) algebras over general fields. In Section 3, we show how to develop the spectral theory in the context of complex (resp. real) one-sided alternative topological algebras. As an application of the existence of spectrum, we prove the existence of nontrivial hyperinvariant linear manifolds for nonscalar (resp. nonquadratic) continuous linear operators acting on complex (resp. real) Fréchet spaces. Along the way, spectral theory is used to prove several topological counterparts of the well-known theorems of Frobenius, Hurwitz, Gelfand-Mazur, and Zorn. This is done, for example, in the context of left (resp. right) alternative topological algebras whose duals separate their elements. In Section 4, we consider real and complex algebras in various topological settings and reconsider and prove several results. For instance, it is shown that given a $ 1 < k \in \mathbb{N}$, on any locally complex algebra, there exists a unique nonzero vector space norm, say, $\|.\|$, satisfying the identity $\|a^k\| = \|a\|^k$ on the algebra. In Section 5, among other things, we revisit and slightly strengthen the celebrated theorems of Frobenius, Zorn, Gelfand-Mazur, and Hurwitz, and also give slight extensions of their topological counterparts, e.g., theorems of Albert, Kaplansky, and Urbanik-Wright to name a few, in several settings.

Abstract:The Frobenius-Perron theory of an endofunctor of a k \Bbbk -linear category (recently introduced in Chen et al. [Algebra Number Theory 13 (2019), pp. 2005–2055]) provides new invariants for abelian and triangulated categories. Here we study Frobenius-Perron type invariants for derived categories of commutative and noncommutative projective schemes. In particular, we calculate the Frobenius-Perron dimension for domestic and tubular weighted projective lines, define Frobenius-Perron generalizations of Calabi-Yau and Kodaira dimensions, and provide examples. We apply this theory to the derived categories associated to certain Artin-Schelter regular and finite-dimensional algebras.
