Abstract:In this paper we present commutativity results for a general class of Szasz-Mirakjan-Durrmeyer type operators and associated differential operators and investigate their eigenfunctions.
What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problems that this paper attempts to solve mainly focus on the following aspects:
1. **Commutativity problem**: The commutativity properties of a class of generalized Szász - Mirakjan - Durrmeyer operators and their related differential operators are studied. Specifically, the author explores the commutativity between these operators and their commutativity with certain differential operators.
2. **Spectral properties**: The eigenfunctions and spectral properties of these operators are studied. In particular, the author discovers some eigenfunctions independent of the parameter \(n\), and these eigenfunctions can be represented by the modified Bessel functions of the first kind.
3. **Commutativity of differential operators**: It is proved that for sufficiently smooth functions, the Szász - Mirakjan - Durrmeyer operator \(S_{n,j}\) commutes with the defined differential operator \(D^2_j\). This result has been confirmed by previous studies in the cases of \(j = 0\) and \(j = 1\).
4. **Eigenstructure**: The eigenstructure of the operator \(S_{n,j}\) is studied, with particular attention to its eigenfunctions. The author proves that for each \(p\in\mathbb{R}\), the function \(g_{j,p}(x)\) is an eigenfunction of \(S_{n,j}\), with the corresponding eigenvalue being \(e^{p/n}\).
### Specific formula presentation
- **Operator definition**:
\[
(S_{n,j}f)(x)=f(0)\sum_{k = 0}^{j - 1}s_{n,k}(x)+\sum_{k = j}^{\infty}s_{n,k}(x)\cdot n\int_{0}^{\infty}s_{n,k - j}(t)f(t)\,dt
\]
where
\[
s_{n,k}(x)=\frac{(nx)^k}{k!}e^{-nx},\quad k\geq0.
\]
- **Differential operator definition**:
\[
D^2_j=(1 - j)D+e_1D^2,
\]
where \(D\) represents the ordinary differential operator.
- **Eigenfunction expression**:
\[
g_{j,p}(x)=\sum_{m=\max\{0, - j\}}^{\infty}\frac{p^m x^{m + j}}{m!(m + j)!}
\]
In particular, when \(p\neq0\), it can be written as the modified Bessel function of the first kind:
\[
g_{j,p}(x)=\left(\frac{px}{2}\right)^jI_j(2\sqrt{px}),
\]
where \(I_j\) is the modified Bessel function of the first kind.
Through these studies, the author not only reveals the important mathematical properties of these operators but also provides a theoretical basis for further applications.
