Abstract:We prove a montonicity property of the new basis of C[(Z/2)^D]. We also study the matrix coefficients of the Fourier transform with respect to the new basis and formulate a conjecture for them.

Abstract:In order to describe a setting to handle Zauner’s conjecture on mutually unbiased bases (MUBs) (stating that in Cd$$\mathbb {C}^d$$, a set of MUBs of the theoretical maximal size d+1$$d + 1$$ exists only if d is a prime power), we pose some fundamental questions which naturally arise. Some of these questions have important consequences for the construction theory of (new) sets of maximal MUBs. Partial answers will be provided in particular cases; more specifically, we will analyze MUBs with associated operator groups that have nilpotence class 2, and consider MUBs of height 1. We will also confirm Zauner’s conjecture for MUBs with associated finite nilpotent operator groups.

Abstract:We prove that the mutual energy (or the intersection product in the sense of Arakelov theory) of two dynamical systems associated to Lattès morphisms over $\mathbf{\bar Q}$ is uniformly bounded below and deduce a proof of a conjecture of Bogomolov-Fu-Tschinkel: the number of common images of torsion points of two non-isomorphic elliptic curves over $\mathbf{C}$ by a standard morphism to the projective line is uniformly bounded. The proof crucially relies on the theory of Berkovich spaces over $\mathbf{Z}$ and on an original argument allowing to obtain a global estimate from a central estimate (over a trivially valued field).

Abstract:We study a canonical basis for spaces of weakly holomorphic modular forms of weights 12, 16, 18, 20, 22, and 26 on the full modular group. We prove a relation between the Fourier coefficients of modular forms in this canonical basis and a generalized Ramanujan tau-function, and use this to prove that these Fourier coefficients are often highly divisible by 2.

Abstract:Doran and Morgan introduced in [12] a rational basis for the monodromy group of the Picard-Fuchs operator of a hypergeometric family of Calabi-Yau threefolds. In this paper we compute numerically the transition matrix between a generalization of the Doran-Morgan basis and the Frobenius basis at a half-conifold point of a one-parameter family of double octic Calabi-Yau threefolds. We identify the entries of this matrix as rational functions in the special values L ( f , 1 ) and L ( f , 2 ) of the corresponding modular form f and one constant. We also present related results concerning the rank of the group of period integrals generated by the action of the monodromy group on the conifold period.

The basis problem for modular forms for the Weil representation

Abstract:The vector valued theta series of a positive-definite even lattice is a modular form for the Weil representation of $\mathrm{SL}_2(\mathbb{Z})$. We show that the space of cusp forms for the Weil representation is generated by such functions. This gives a positive answer to Eichler's basis problem in this case. As applications we derive Waldspurger's result on the basis problem for scalar valued modular forms and give a new proof of the surjectivity of the Borcherds lift based on the analysis of local Picard groups.

Abstract:We prove the unbounded denominators conjecture in the theory of noncongruence modular forms for finite index subgroups of SL_2(Z). Our result includes also Mason's generalization of the original conjecture to the setting of vector-valued modular forms, thereby supplying a new path to the congruence property in rational conformal field theory. The proof involves a new arithmetic holonomicity bound of a potential-theoretic flavor, together with Nevanlinna's second main theorem, the congruence subgroup property of SL_2(Z[1/p]), and a close description of the Fuchsian uniformization D(0,1)/\Gamma_N of the Riemann surface C \setminus \mu_N.

Möbius Inversion and Duality for Summations of Stable Graphs

Abstract:Using the stratifications of Deligne-Mumford moduli spaces $\overline{\mathcal M}_{g,n}$ indexed by stable graphs, we introduce a partially ordered set of stable graphs by defining a partial ordering on the set of connected stable graphs of genus $g$ with $n$ external edges. By modifying the usual definition of zeta function and Möbius function of a poset, we introduce generalized ($\mathbb Q$-valued) zeta function and generalized ($\mathbb Q$-valued) Möbius function of the poset of stable graphs. We use them to proved a generalized Möbius inversion formula for functions on the poset of stable graphs. Two applications related to duality in earlier work are also presented.

Abstract:Let K = Q(root-q), where q is any prime number congruent to 7 modulo 8, and let O be the ring of integers of K. The prime 2 splits in K, say 2O = pp*, and there is a unique Z(2)-extension K-infinity of K which is unramified outside p. Let H be the Hilbert class field of K, and write H-infinity = HK infinity. Let M(H-infinity) be the maximal abelian 2-extension of H-infinity which is unramified outside the primes above p, and put X(H-infinity) = Gal(M(H-infinity)/H-infinity). We prove that X(H-infinity) is always a finitely generated Z(2)-module, by an elliptic analogue of Sinnott's cyclotomic argument. We then use this result to prove for the first time the weak p-adic Leopoldt conjecture for the compositum J(infinity) of K-infinity with arbitrary quadratic extensions J of H. We also prove some new cases of the finite generation of the Mordell-Weil group E(J(infinity)) modulo torsion of certain elliptic curves E with complex multiplication by O.

Abstract:The dual basis of the canonical basis of the modified quantized enveloping algebra is studied, in particular for type A. The construction of a basis for the coordinate algebra of the n x n quantum matrices is appropriate for studying the multiplicative property. It is shown that this basis is invariant under multiplication by certain quantum minors including the quantum determinant. Then a basis of quantum SL (n) is obtained by setting the quantum determinant to one. This basis turns out to be equivalent to the dual canonical basis.

Abstract:Abstract Using log canonical thresholds and basis divisors Fujita–Odaka introduced purely algebro-geometric invariants δm{\delta_{m}} whose limit in m is now known to characterize uniform K-stability on a Fano variety. As shown by Blum–Jonsson this carries over to a general polarization, and together with work of Berman, Boucksom, and Jonsson, it is now known that the limit of these δm{\delta_{m}}-invariants characterizes uniform Ding stability. A basic question since Fujita–Odaka’s work has been to find an analytic interpretation of these invariants. We show that each δm{\delta_{m}} is the coercivity threshold of a quantized Ding functional on the mth Bergman space and thus characterizes the existence of balanced metrics. This approach has a number of applications. The most basic one is that it provides an alternative way to compute these invariants, which is new even for ℙn{{\mathbb{P}}^{n}}. Second, it allows us to introduce algebraically defined invariants that characterize the existence of Kähler–Ricci solitons (and the more general g-solitons of Berman–Witt Nyström), as well as coupled versions thereof. Third, it leads to approximation results involving balanced metrics in the presence of automorphisms that extend some results of Donaldson.
On the monodromies at infinity of Fourier transforms of holonomic D-modules

Abstract:Based on the recent progress in the irregular Riemann-Hilbert correspondence, we study the monodromies at infinity of the holomorphic solutions of Fourier transforms of holonomic D-modules in some situations. Formulas for their eigenvalues are obtained by applying the theory of monodromy zeta functions to our previous results on the enhanced solution complexes of the Fourier transforms. In particular, in dimension one we thus find a reciprocity law between the monodromies at infinity of holonomic D-modules and their Fourier transforms.

Abstract:We introduce a family of commuting generalised symmetries of the Dunkl--Dirac operator inspired by the Maxwell construction in harmonic analysis. We use these generalised symmetries to construct bases of the polynomial null-solutions of the Dunkl--Dirac operator. These polynomial spaces form representation spaces of the Dunkl--Dirac symmetry algebra. For the $\mathbb{Z}_2^d$ case, the results are compared with previous investigations.

Abstract:We generalize a criterion for tight monomials of quantum enveloping algebras associated with symmetric generalized Cartan matrices and a monomial basis property of those associated with symmetric (classical) Cartan matrices to their respective symmetrizable case. We then link the two by establishing that a tight monomial is necessarily a monomial defined by a weakly distinguished word. As an application, we develop an algorithm to compute all tight monomials in the rank 2 Dynkin case.

Abstract:Hyperbolic complete monotonicity property ($\mathrm{HCM}$) is a way to check if a distribution is a generalized gamma ($\mathrm{GGC}$), hence is infinitely divisible. In this work, we illustrate to which extent the Mittag-Leffler functions $E_\alpha, \;\alpha \in (0,2]$, enjoy the $\mathrm{HCM}$ property, and then intervene deeply in the probabilistic context. We prove that, for suitable $\alpha$ and complex numbers $z$, the real and imaginary part of the functions $x\mapsto E_\alpha \big(z x\big)$, are tightly linked to the stable distributions and to the generalized Cauchy kernel.

On the monotonicity of the Hilbert functions for 4-generated pseudo-symmetric monomial curves

Abstract:In this article we solve the conjecture "Hilbert function of the local ring for a 4 generated pseudo-symmetric numerical semigroup $\langle n_1,n_2,n_3,n_4 \rangle$ is always non-decreasing when $ n_1 < n_2 < n_3 < n_4$". We give a complete characterization to the standard bases when the tangent cone is not Cohen-Macaulay by showing that the number of elements in the standard basis depends on some parameters $s_j$ 's we define. Since the tangent cone is not Cohen-Macaulay, non-decreasingness of the Hilbert fuction was not guaranteed, we proved the non-decreasingness from our explicit Hilbert Function computation.

Abstract:We construct a new discrete basis of 4-valent SU(2) intertwiners. This basis possesses both the advantage of being discrete, while at the same time representing accurately the classical degrees of freedom; hence it is coherent. The closed spin network amplitude obtained from these intertwiners depends on 20 spins and can be evaluated by a generalization of the Racah formula for an arbitrary graph. The asymptotic limit of these amplitudes is found. We give, for the first time, the asymptotics of 15j symbols in the real basis. Remarkably it gives a generalization of the Regge action to twisted geometries.

Abstract:Let $f(z)$ be in $1+z\mathbb{Q}[[z]]$ and $\mathcal{S}$ be an infinite set of prime numbers such that, for all $p\in\mathcal{S}$, we can reduce $f(z)$ modulo $p$. We let $f(z)_{\mid p}$ denote the reduction of $f(z)$ modulo $p$. Generally, when $f(z)$ is D-finite, $f(z)_{\mid p}$ is algebraic over $\mathbb{F}_p(z)$. It turns out that if $f(z)$ is a solution of a polynomial of the form $X-A_p(z)X^{p^l}$, we can use this type of equations to obtain results of transcendence and algebraic independence over $\mathbb{Q}(z)$. In the present paper, we look for conditions on the differential operators annihilating $f(z)$ to guarantee the existence of these particular equations. Suppose that $f(z)$ is solution of a differential operator $\mathcal{H}\in\mathbb{Q}(z)[d/dz]$ having a strong Frobenius structure for all $p\in\mathcal{S}$ and we also suppose that $f(z)$ annihilates a Fuchsian differential operator $\mathcal{D}\in\mathbb{Q}(z)[d/dz]$ such that zero is a regular singular point of $\mathcal{D}$ and the exponents of $\mathcal{D}$ at zero are equal to zero. Our main result states that, for almost every prime $p\in\mathcal{S}$, $f(z)_{\mid p}$ is solution of a polynomial of the form $X-A_p(z)X^{p^l}$, where $A_p(z)$ is a rational function with coefficients in $\mathbb{F}_p$ of height less than or equal to $Cp^{2l}$ with $C$ a positive constant that does not depend on $p$. We also study the algebraic independence of these power series over $\mathbb{Q}(z)$.

Monotonicity of inverse Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials

Abstract:For arbitrary Coxeter systems, we prove that inverse Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials satisfy a monotonicity property. This follows from the validity of Soergel's conjecture and the existence of injective morphisms between Rouquier complexes in the mixed perverse Hecke category. The monotonicity property is generalised to parabolic Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials.

Abstract:An example of Cornalba and Shiffman from 1972 disproves in dimension two or higher a classical prediction that the count of zeros of holomorphic self-mappings of the complex linear space should be controlled by the maximum modulus function. We prove that such a bound holds for a modified coarse count inspired by the theory of persistence modules originating in topological data analysis.
