Abstract:In this paper we prove that an RGD-system over $\mathbb{F}_2$ with prescribed commutation relations exists if and only if the commutation relations are Weyl-invariant and can be realized in the group $U_+$. This result gives us a machinery to produce new examples of RGD-systems with complicated commutation relations. We also discuss some applications of this result.

Abstract:Commutator blueprints can be seen as blueprints for constructing RGD-systems over $\mathbb{F}_2$ with prescribed commutation relations. In this paper we construct several families of Weyl-invariant commutator blueprints, mostly of universal type. Together with the main result of \cite{BiRGD} we obtain new examples of exotic RGD-systems of universal type over $\mathbb{F}_2$.

Abstract:Motivated by Witten’s work, we propose a K -theoretic Verlinde/Grassmannian correspondence which relates the GL Verlinde numbers to the K -theoretic quasimap invariants of the Grassmannian. We recover these two types of invariants by imposing different stability conditions on the gauged linear sigma model associated with the Grassmannian. We construct two families of stability conditions connecting the two theories and prove two wall-crossing results. We confirm the Verlinde/Grassmannian correspondence in the rank two case.

Abstract:Let $\Gamma$ be a Fuchsian group in ${\rm SL}_2(\mathbb{R})$. In this note, we discuss the existence of $\rho$-equivariant functions for a two-dimensional representation $\rho$ of $\Gamma$. This assertion was first stated by Saber and Sebbar in 2020, and this note partially fills a gap of their statement by proving the assertion for a certain class of Fuchsian groups such as conjugates of subgroups of ${\rm SL}_2(\mathbb{Z})$.

Abstract:Generalizing results of Morishita and Vogel, an explicit description of the triple Massey product for the Galois group $G_S(2)$ of the maximal 2-extension of $\mathbb{Q}$ unramified outside a finite set of prime numbers $S$ containing 2 is given in terms of Rédei symbols. We show that mild pro-2-groups with Zassenhaus invariant 3 occur as Galois groups of the form $G_S(2)$. Furthermore, a non-analytic mild fab pro-2-group having only 3 generators is constructed .

Abstract:We provide new examples of groups without rational cross-sections (also called regular normal forms), using connections with bounded generation and rational orders on groups. Specifically, our examples are extensions of infinite torsion groups, groups of Grigorchuk type, wreath products similar to $C_2\wr(C_2\wr \mathbb Z)$ and $\mathbb Z\wr F_2$, a group of permutations of $\mathbb Z$, and a finitely presented HNN extension of the first Grigorchuk group. This last group is the first example of finitely presented group with solvable word problem and without rational cross-sections. It is also not autostackable, and has no left-regular complete rewriting system.

Abstract:In this paper we prove that every automorphism of a Chevalley group (or its elementary subgroup) with root system of rank > 1 over a commutative ring (with 1/2 for the systems A2,F4,Bl,Cl ; with 1/2 and 1/3 for the system G2 ) is standard, i.e., it is a composition of ring, inner, central and graph automorphisms. This result finalizes description of automorphisms of Chevalley groups. However, the restrictions on invertible elements can be a topic of further considerations. We provide also some model-theoretic applications of this description.

Abstract:We investigate the class of root systems $R$ obtained by extending an $A_1$-type irreducible root system by a free abelian group $G$. In this context there is a Weyl group $W$ and a group $U$ with the presentation by conjugation. Both groups are reflection groups with respect to a discrete symmetric space $T$ associated to $R$. We show that the natural homomorphism $U\to W$ is an isomorphism if and only if an associated subset $T^{ab}\setminus\{0\}$ of $G_2=G/2G$ is 2-independent, i.e. its image under the map $G_2\to G_2\otimes G_2, g\mapsto g\otimes g$ is linearly independent over the Galois field $F_2$.

BGG Reciprocity for Generalized Weight Modules of Unrolled Restricted Quantum Groups at Roots of Unity

Abstract:We consider the category of generalized weight modules over the unrolled restricted quantum group $\overline{U}_q^H(\mathfrak{g})$ of a finite-dimensional simple complex Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ at root of unity q. Although this category does not admit projective modules, it is filtered by subcategories with enough projectives. We show that the projective modules in these subcategories satisfy a variant of BGG reciprocity and give a generators and relations description of the projective covers of irreducible modules when $\mathfrak{g}=\mathfrak{sl}_2$.

The Geometry of Drinfeld Modular Forms

Abstract:We give a geometric perspective on the algebra of Drinfeld modular forms for congruence subgroups $\Gamma\leq \GL_2(\bbF_q[T]).$ In particular, we describe an isomorphism between the section ring of a line bundle on the stacky modular curve for $\Gamma_2$ and the algebra of Drinfeld modular forms for $\Gamma_2,$ where $\Gamma_2$ is the subgroup of square-determinant matrices in $\Gamma.$ This allows one to compute the latter ring by geometric invariants using the techniques of Voight, Zureick-Brown and O'Dorney. We also show how to decompose the algebra of modular forms for $\Gamma_2$ into a direct sum of two algebras of modular forms for $\Gamma$ and generalize this result to a larger class of congruence subgroups.

Constructing linked systems of relative difference sets via Schur rings

Abstract:In the present paper, we study relative difference sets (RDSs) and linked systems of them. It is shown that a closed linked system of RDSs is always graded by a group. Based on this result, we also define a product of RDS linked systems sharing the same grading group. Further, we generalize the Davis-Polhill-Smith construction of a linked system of RDSs. Finally, we construct new linked system of RDSs in a Heisenberg group over a finite field and family of RDSs in an extraspecial $p$-group of exponent $p^2$. All constructions of new RDSs and their linked systems are based essentially on a usage of cyclotomic Schur rings.

Abstract:Let $F$ be any field. We give a short and elementary proof that any finite subgroup $G$ of $PGL(2,F)$ occurs as a Galois group over the function field $F(x)$. We also develop a theory of descent to subfields of $F$. This enables us to realize the automorphism groups of finite subgroups of $PGL(2,F)$ as Galois groups.

Abstract:Let $p$ be a prime and $F$ be a finite field of characteristic $p$. Suppose that $FG$ is the group algebra of the finite $p$-group $G$ over the field $F$. Let $V(FG)$ denote the group of normalized units in $FG$ and let $V_*(FG)$ denote the unitary subgroup of $V(FG)$. If $p$ is odd, then the order of $V_*(FG)$ is $|F|^{(|G|-1)/2}$. However, the case when $p=2$ still is open. In this paper, the order of $V_*(FG)$ is computed when $G$ is a nonabelian $2$-group given by a central extension of the form $$1\longrightarrow \mathbb{Z}_{2^n}\times \mathbb{Z}_{2^m} \longrightarrow G \longrightarrow \mathbb{Z}_2\times \cdots\times \mathbb{Z}_2 \longrightarrow 1$$ and $G'\cong \mathbb{Z}_2$, $n, m\geq 1$. Further, a conjecture is confirmed, namely, the order of $V_*(FG)$ can be divisible by $|F|^{\frac{1}{2}(|G|+|\Omega_1(G)|)-1}$, where $\Omega_1(G)=\{g\in G\ |\ g^2=1\}$.

Abstract:We provide an equivariant extension of Carlsson's BGG correspondence in characteristic two. As an application we classify perfect cochain complexes of $(\mathbb{Z}/2\times \mathbb{Z}/2)\rtimes Q$-representations with four-dimensional total homology for finite groups $Q$ of odd order. We deduce that cochain complexes of finite, free $A_4$-CW complexes with four-dimensional total homology are rigid: They are determined by the degrees of the nonzero homology groups.

Abstract:Let $\mathcal P:=\mathcal P_{m\times n}$ denote the quantized coordinate ring of the space of $m\times n$ matrices, equipped with natural actions of the quantized enveloping algebras $U_q(\mathfrak{gl}_m)$ and $U_q(\mathfrak{gl}_n)$. Let $\mathcal L$ and $\mathcal R$ denote the images of $U_q(\mathfrak{gl}_m)$ and $U_q(\mathfrak{gl}_n)$ in $\mathrm{End}(\mathcal P)$, respectively. We define a $q$-analogue of the algebra of polynomial-coefficient differential operators inside $\mathrm{End}(\mathcal P)$, henceforth denoted by $\mathcal{PD}$, and we prove that $\mathcal L\cap \mathcal{PD}$ and $\mathcal{R}\cap \mathcal{PD}$ are mutual centralizers inside $\mathcal{PD}$. Using this, we establish a new First Fundamental Theorem of invariant theory for $U_q(\mathfrak{gl}_n)$. We also compute explicit formulas in terms of $q$-determinants for generators of the intersections with $\mathcal{PD}$ of the images of the Cartan subalgebras of $U_q(\mathfrak{gl}_m)$ and $U_q(\mathfrak{gl}_n)$.

Generalised Triangle Groups of Type (2,4,2)

Abstract:A conjecture of Rosenberger says that a group of the form $\langle x,y|x^p=y^q=W(x,y)^r=1\rangle$ (with $r>1$) is either virtually solvable or contains a non-abelian free subgroup. This note is an account of an attack on the conjecture in the case $(p,q,r)=(2,4,2)$. The results obtained are only partial, but nevertheless provide strong evidence in support of the conjecture in the case in question, in that the word $W$ in any counterexample is shown to satisfy some strong restrictions. The exponent-sums of $x$ and $y$ in $W$ must be even and odd respectively, while its free-product (or syllable) length must be at least 68. There is also a report of computer investigations which yield a stronger lower bound of 196 for the free-product length.

Abstract:The consistent systems of idempotents of Meyer and Solleveld allow to construct Serre subcategories of $Rep_R(G)$, the category of smooth representations of a $p$-adic group $G$ with coefficients in $R$. In particular, they were used to construct level 0 decompositions when $R=\overline{\mathbb{Z}}_{\ell}$, $\ell \neq p$, by Dat for $GL_n$ and the author for a more general group. Wang proved in the case of $GL_n$ that the subcategory associated with a system of idempotents is equivalent to a category of coefficient systems on the Bruhat-Tits building. This result was used by Dat to prove an equivalence between an arbitrary level zero block of $GL_n$ and a unipotent block of another group. In this paper, we generalize Wang's equivalence of category to a connected reductive group on a non-archimedean local field.

Abstract:We extract a precise internal description of the sequential commutation equivalence relation introduced in [KEP23] for tracial von Neumann algebras. As an application we prove that if a tracial von Neumann algebra $N$ is generated by unitaries $\{u_i\}_{i\in \mathbb{N}}$ such that $u_i\sim u_j$ (i.e, there exists a finite set of Haar unitaries $\{w_i\}_{i=1}^{n}$ in $N^\mathcal{U}$ such that $[u_i, w_1]= [w_k, w_{k+1}]=[w_n,u_j]=0$ for all $1\leq k< n$) then $N$ is singly generated. This generalizes and recovers several known single generation phenomena for II$_1$ factors in the literature with a unified proof.
