Abstract:In this paper, we study the effects of postselected von Neumann measurement on the nonclassicality of the Single-Photon-Subtracted-Squeezed-Vacuum-State (SPSSVS). We calculate the squeezing effect, Mandel factor, Wigner function, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR)s and state distance function.We found that postselected von Neumann measurement has positive effects on the optimization of SPSSVS. In particular, by properly choosing the anomalous weak value, the nonclassical inherent features of SPSSVS such as squeezing, photon statistics and phase space distribution can be optimized significantly. The advantages of postselected weak measurement on improving the SNR compared to non-postselected measurement scheme is also confirmed. The superiority of SPSSVS based postselected weak measurement in quantum state optimization may have potential applications of in the associated quantum information processing.

Abstract:This paper studies the effects of the postselected von Neumann measurement on the nonclassicality of the single-photon-subtracted squeezed vacuum (SPSSV) state. Specifically, we calculated the squeezing effect, Mandel factor, Wigner function, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and state distance function. We found that the postselected von Neumann measurement positively affects the SPSSV state optimization. Precisely, correctly choosing the anomalous weak value allows for optimizing the nonclassical inherent features of the SPSSV state, such as squeezing, photon statistics, and phase space distribution. Additionally, this study confirms the advantages of postselected WM in improving the SNR compared to non-postselected measurement schemes. Furthermore, a possible implementation method is proposed using optics setups. The superiority of the SPSSVS-based postselected WM in quantum state optimization can support various applications in the associated quantum information processing.

Abstract:We propose a weak measurement scheme with post-selection based on the cross-Kerr interaction between two optical fields. We demonstrate that our scheme can measure smaller physical effects and obtain a larger signal-to-noise ratio compared to the weak measurement scheme without post-selection. We also show that the initial pointer states with nonclassical properties can increase the successful post-selection probability, offer a bigger signal-to-noise ratio compared to the coherent states.

Abstract:State preparation via postselected weak measurement in three wave mixing process is studied. Assuming the signal input mode prepared in a vacuum state, coherent state or squeezed vacuum state, separately, while the idler input prepared in weak coherent state and passing the medium characterized by the second-order nonlinear susceptibility. It is shown that when the single photon is detected at one of the output channels of idler beam's path, the signal output channel is prepared in single-photon Fock state, single-photon-added coherent state or single-photon-added squeezed vacuum state with very high fidelity, depending upon the input signal states and related controllable parameters. The properties including squeezing, signal amplification, second order correlation and Wigner functions of the weak measurement based output states are also investigated. Our scheme promising to provide alternate new effective method for producing useful nonclassical states in quantum information processing.

Abstract:We investigate superpositions of two-mode squeezed states (TMSSs), which have potential applications in quantum information processing and quantum sensing. We study some properties of these nonclassical states such as the statistics of each mode and the degree of entanglement between the two modes, which can be higher than that of a TMSS with the same degree of squeezing. The states we consider can be prepared by inducing two-mode Jaynes-Cummings and anti-Jaynes-Cummings interactions in a system of two modes and a spin- 12 particle, for instance, in the trapped ion domain, as described here. We show that when two harmonic oscillators are prepared in a superposition of two TMSSs, each reduced single-mode state can be advantageously employed to sense arbitrary displacements of the mode in phase space. The Wigner function of this reduced state exhibits a symmetrical peak centered at the phase-space origin, which has the convenient peculiarity of getting narrower in both quadratures simultaneously as the average photon number increases. Stable control of 10 dB two-mode squeezed vacuum states of light

Abstract:Continuous variable entanglement is a fundamental resource for many quantum information tasks. Important protocols like superactivation of zero-capacity channels and finite-size quantum cryptography that provides security against most general attacks, require about 10 dB two-mode squeezing. Additionally, stable phase control mechanisms are necessary but are difficult to achieve because the total amount of optical loss to the entangled beams needs to be small. Here, we experimentally demonstrate a control scheme for two-mode squeezed vacuum states at the telecommunication wavelength of 1550 nm. Our states exhibited an Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen covariance product of 0.0309 ± 0.0002, where 1 is the critical value, and a Duan inseparability value of 0.360 ± 0.001, where 4 is the critical value. The latter corresponds to 10.45 ± 0.01 dB which reflects the average non-classical noise suppression of the two squeezed vacuum states used to generate the entanglement. With the results of this work demanding quantum information protocols will become feasible.

Abstract:Multimode squeezed light is an increasingly popular tool in photonic quantum technologies, including sensing, imaging, and computation. Meanwhile, the existing methods of its characterization are technically complicated, and in the best case, deal with a single mode at a time. Here, we demonstrate experimentally how the squeezing can be measured in multiple spatial modes simultaneously, using optical parametric amplification and direct detection followed by modal decomposition based on spatial intensity correlations. We apply this method to a multimode squeezed vacuum generated via high-gain parametric down-conversion. We measure the degrees of squeezing and anti-squeezing for eight strongest spatial modes, obtaining highest squeezing and anti-squeezing values of $-5.2 \pm 0.2$ dB and $8.6 \pm 0.3$ dB, respectively.

Quantum Metrology of Absorption and Gain Parameters using Two-Mode Bright Squeezed Light

Abstract:Absorption and gain processes are fundamental to any light-matter interaction and a precise measurement of these parameters is important for various scientific and technological applications. Quantum probes, specifically the squeezed states have proved very successful, particularly in the applications that deal with phase shift and force measurements. In this paper, we focus on improving the sensitivity of the estimation of the photon loss coefficient of a weakly absorbing medium as well as the estimation of the gain parameter using a two-mode bright squeezed state. The generation of this state combines the advantage of a coherent beam for its large photon number with the quantum properties of the two-mode squeezing operation in an optical parametric amplifier. We present two measurement schemes: balanced photodetection and time-reversed metrology, both utilizing two-mode bright squeezed light. The maximum quantum advantage we can achieve using two-mode bright squeezed light is 3.7 times for the absorption parameter $\alpha = 0.05$ and 8.4 times for $\alpha = 0.01$ as compared to using only the coherent state. Similarly, the maximum quantum advantage for the estimation of optical gain is found around 2.81 times for the gain coefficient $G=1.05$ and around 6.28 times for $G=1.01$. We discuss the significance of using one measurement scheme over the other under different squeezing conditions. We compare our results with the Cramér-Rao bound for a two-mode bright squeezed state to assess the quality of the proposed methodologies.

Abstract:The improvement of quantum features and processes, prominent as entanglement and quantum teleportation, of the two-mode squeezed vacuum state (TMSVS) in the small squeezed parameter domain is of great importance. Therefore, it has attracted the attention of scientists in the field of quantum information in recent years. In this paper, we introduce a new optical scheme to enhance the degree of entanglement and quantum teleportation fidelity of such a state using ordinary quantum devices including beam splitters and photon-number-resolving detectors. The scheme allows us to sequentially perform non-Gaussian operations, namely, photon addition, photon subtraction, quantum optical catalysis, and combinations of these techniques, into both modes of the TMSVS. The investigated results show that the degree of entanglement and fidelity in the novel two-mode non-Gaussian state is enhanced, especially in the small regions of the squeezed parameter compared with the original TMSVS and non-Gaussian states constructed from it in previous works. They also indicate that the enhanced zones recede to the small squeezed parameter areas with increasing the number of stages of the non-Gaussian effect.

Abstract:We propose a scheme for the simultaneously preparation radiation-field modes of a single photon and a superposition of zero- and one-photon states, based on the coherent quantum state displacement and photon subtraction from two-mode squeezed state. It is shown that the single-photon and the superposition states can be obtained by only choosing the suitable parameter of displacements. The experimental feasibility to accomplish this scheme is also discussed.
Superposition of macroscopically squeezed states with enhanced squeezing in cavity optomechanical system at single-photon level

Abstract: We propose an efficient approach to generate the superposed macroscopically squeezed states with enhanced squeezing in a two-mode optomechanical system. This can be achieved by introducing a sinusoidal modulation to either the cavity frequencies or the coupling strengths between two cavity modes. The squeezement of the oscillator can be significantly enhanced to 12.16 dB with single photon, once the relative ratio of coupling strength is optimized under proper conditions. Further enhanced squeezing can be obtained by carefully adjusting the system parameters. In terms of the Wigner quasi-probability distribution, we show the squeezed error ellipses and interference fringes of the Yurke-Stoler-type squeezed states, denoting the squeezing and superposition properties. Our state generation scheme show reliable performance and robust resistance to finite environmental fluctuations, which implies applications for both fundamental interest and practical value.

Abstract:We perform a theoretical investigation into how a two-mode squeezed vacuum state, which has undergone photon loss, can be stored and purified using noiseless amplification with a collection of solid-state qubits. The proposed method may be used to probabilistically increase the entanglement between the two parties sharing the state. The proposed amplification step is similar in structure to a set of quantum scissors. However, in this work the amplification step is realized by a state transfer from an optical mode to a set of solid-state qubits, which act as a quantum memory. Nonclassicality in Two-Mode Stabilized Squeezed Coherent State: Quantum-to-Classical transition

Abstract:We consider a two-mode stabilized squeezed coherent state (SSCS) of light and introduce the $\Pi_{\rm N}$ indicator, a novel measure for characterizing nonclassicality in the resulting EPR-entangled state. Unlike existing methods based on Cauchy-Schwarz or Murihead inequalities, $\Pi_{\rm N}$ leverages analytical solutions to the quantum Langevin equations to directly analyze nonclassicality arising from key processes like bichromatic injection, frequency conversion, and parametric down-conversion (both spontaneous and stimulated). This approach not only identifies the optimal phase for maximum nonclassicality but also reveals two new phenomena: first, both intra-cavity and extra-cavity fields exhibit the same degree of nonclassicality, and second, balanced seeding in phase-mismatched configurations induces nonclassicality across a broad range of squeezing and seeding parameters. Our work deepens the understanding of the intricate dependence of nonclassicality on system parameters in the context of SSCS, paving the way for investigations into the quantum-to-classical transition in entangled systems. The potential of $\Pi_{\rm N}$ holds significant promise for advancements in quantum optics and information science.

Abstract:The study of nonclassical properties of two-mode quantum states is particularly useful in quantum information theory because of the possibilities of obtaining entanglement and other two-mode quantum correlations in these states. Here we have investigated the possibilities of the existence of nonclassicality in a two-mode New generalized binomial state (TMNGBS). Specifically two-mode antibunching, Quadrature squeezing, sum \& difference squeezing, and various entanglement criteria e.g Shchukin-Vogel entanglement criterion, the uncertainty relation of SU(1,1) Algebra and EPR entanglement criterion are explored in two mode particular example of quantum state named as New generalized binomial state. Earlier we studied nonclassicality in single-mode NGBS, here we are extending our study toward the two-mode version of a quantum state. Here we provide the general expressions of moments for a two-mode quantum state (Fock basis) and explore the quantification in a particular example NGBS. It is found that antibunching, squeezing, and SV entanglement are possible with different limits of depending parameters but the entanglement criteria (EPR, SU (1,1) algebra and Cauchy - Schwarz inequality based)for NGBS are not possible. This study opens up the possibility of exploring the two-mode nonclassicality in other states too.

Abstract:Abstract We investigate quantum advantages in loss sensing when the two-mode squeezed vacuum state is used as a probe. Following an experimental demonstration in PRX 4, 011049, we consider a quantum scheme in which the signal mode is passed through the target and a thermal noise is introduced to the idler mode before they are measured. We consider two detection strategies of practical relevance: coincidence-counting and intensity-difference measurement, which are widely used in quantum sensing and imaging experiments. By computing the signal-to-noise ratio, we verify that quantum advantages persist even under strong thermal background noise, in comparison with the classical scheme which uses a single-mode coherent state that directly suffers from the thermal noise. Such robustness comes from the fact that the signal mode suffers from the thermal noise in the classical scheme, while in the quantum scheme, the idler mode does. For a fairer comparison, we further investigate a different setup in which the thermal noise is introduced to the signal mode in the quantum schemes. In this new setup, we show that the quantum advantages are significantly reduced. Remarkably, however, under an optimum measurement scheme associated with the quantum Fisher information, we show that the two-mode squeezed vacuum state does exhibit a quantum advantage over the entire range of the environmental noise and loss. We expect this work to serve as a guide for experimental demonstrations of quantum advantages in loss parameter sensing, which is subject to lossy and noisy environment.

Supersensitivity of Kerr Phase Estimation with Two-Mode Squeezed Vacuum States

Abstract:We analytically investigate the sensitivity of Kerr nonlinear phase estimation in a Mach-Zehnder interferometer with two-mode squeezed vacuum states. We find that such a metrological scheme could access a sensitivity scaling over the Boixo et al.’s generalized sensitivity limit [S. Boixo et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 98, 090401 (2007)], which is saturable with celebrated NOON states. We also show that parity detection is a quasi-optimal measurement which can nearly saturate the quantum Cramér-Rao bound in the aforementioned situation.

Abstract:We study quantum measurement with preselection and postselection, and derive the precise expressions of the measurement results without any restriction on the coupling strength between the system and the measuring device. For a qubit system, we derive the maximum pointer shifts by choosing appropriate initial and finial states. A significant amplification effect is obtained when the interaction between the system and the measuring device is very weak, and typical ideal quantum measurement results are obtained when the interaction is strong. The improvement of the signal-tonoise ratio (SNR) and the enhancement of the measurement sensitivity (MS) by weak measurements are studied. Without considering the probability decrease due to postselection, the SNR and the MS can be both significantly improved by weak measurements; however, neither SNR nor MS can be effectively improved when the probability decrease is considered.
Properties of Two-Mode Quadrature Squeezing from Four-wave Mixing in Rubidium Vapor

Abstract:We present a study of homodyne measurements of two-mode, vacuum-seeded, quadrature-squeezed light generated by four-wave mixing in warm rubidium vapor. Our results reveal that the vacuum squeezing can extend down to measurement frequencies of less than 1 Hz, and the squeezing bandwidth, similar to the seeded intensity-difference squeezing measured in this system, reaches up to approximately 20 MHz for typical pump parameters. By dividing the squeezing bandwidth into smaller frequency bins, we show that different sideband frequencies represent independent sources of two-mode squeezing. Such frequency bins may provide useful qumodes for quantum information processing experiments. We also investigate the impact of group velocity delays on the correlations in the system.

Abstract:Two four-level atoms resonantly interacting with a two-mode squeezed vacuum field through the intensity-dependent Jaynes-Cummings-like model are considered. It is shown that the atoms can evolve into pure entangled states at certain time. Moreover, the pure entangled states can probabilistically be projected onto extremely entangled states by quantum jump technique. It is shown that the success probability monotonously increases with increasing degree of squeezing without any decoherence processes. However, it is found that if decoherence processes such as atomic spontaneous emission and photon leakage out of the cavity take place, the total success probability first increases but then decreases with increasing degree of squeezing and finally approaches zero as the squeezing becomes stronger and stronger. Therefore, the high degree of squeezing in the initial state of the cavity field is not always helpful for a high probability of creating extremely entangled states when spontaneous emission and cavity decay exist. Given spontaneous emission and photon leakage rates, there is an optimal squeezing degree for which the total success probability becomes maximum.
