Abstract:We study a one-dimensional ordinary differential equation modelling optical conveyor belts, showing in particular cases of physical interest that periodic solutions exist. Moreover, under rather general assumptions it is proved that the set of periodic solutions is bounded.

Abstract:Abstract In this paper, we establish two existence theorems of rotating-periodic solutions for nonlinear second order vector differential equations via the Leray–Schauder degree theory and the lower and upper solutions method. The concept “rotating-periodicity” is a kind of symmetry, which is a general version of periodicity, anti-periodicity, harmonic-periodicity, and it is also a special kind of quasi-periodicity. We also include several examples to illustrate the validity and applicability of our results.

Existence of Periodic Solution for Semi-linear Second-order Differential Equations

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the existence of periodic solutions for a class of semilinear second-order differential equations. The difficulty of traditional methods lies in a mass of detailed estimates. By applying the viscosity solutions method and the classical upper-lower solutions method, as well as the Leray-Schauder fixed point principle, we establish the existence of periodic solutions to the equation under some weaker conditions. Our result improves and generalizes many results on the ropes mechanics equations in the previous literature.

Burton–Krasnoselskii's fixed point theorem will be sufficiently general for application to the considered equation. An example has been carried out to show our results. It should be pointed out that the problem of periodic solutions is one of the current hot topics in the study of dynamic equations, which contains rich symmetry ideas and methods.

Some existence and multiplicity results of positive periodic solutions are derived by using a fixed point theorem in cones.

Abstract:In this article, we study the existence and uniqueness of periodic solutions, and stability of the zero solution to the nonlinear neutral system $$ \frac{d}{dt}x(t)=A(t)h\big(x(t-\tau_1(t))\big)+\frac{d}{dt}Q\big(t,x(t-\tau_2(t))\big) +G\big(t,x(t),x(t-\tau_2(t))\big). $$ We use integrating factors to transform the neutral differential equation into an equivalent integral equation. Then we construct appropriate mappings and employ Krasnoselskii's fixed point theorem to show the existence of a periodic solution. We also use the contraction mapping principle to show the existence of a unique periodic solution and the asymptotic stability of the zero solution. Our results generalize the corresponding results in the existing literature. Abstract:In this paper we investigate the properties of the set of T-periodic solutions of semi-explicit parametrized Differential-Algebraic Equations with non-autonomous constraints of a particular type. We provide simple, degree theoretic conditions for the existence of branches of T-periodic solutions of the considered equations. Our approach is based on topological arguments about differential equations on implicitly defined manifolds, combined with elementary facts of matrix analysis.

Abstract:This paper is devoted to the study of periodic solutions for a semilinear Euler-Bernoulli beam equation with variable coefficients. Such mathematical model may be described the infinitesimal, free, undamped in-plane bending vibrations of a thin straight elastic beam. When the frequency $\omega =\frac{2\pi}{T}$ is rational, some properties of the beam operator with variable coefficients are investigated. We obtain the existence of periodic solutions when the nonlinear term is monotone and bounded.

Abstract:Ordinary and partial differential equations with operators containing the p-Laplace operator, the so called ϕ-Laplace operator, operators with variable exponents and the double phase operators have been studied thoroughly for at least the last 20 years and the amount of papers dealing with these subjects is huge. In this paper we deal with the problem of the existence of periodic solutions to some system of ODE's involving a fairly general operator generalizing in this form corresponding results for the areas of research just mentioned. In our results neither the function generating the differential operator nor the right hand side function in the boundary value problem considered are necessarily equal to the gradient of a function. Our main result is a here is a continuation theorem based on the Leray-Schauder degree theory which allows us to obtain the existence of solutions for the boundary value problem considered.

Abstract:A class for systems of nonlinear second-order differential equations with periodic impulse action are considered. An urgent problem for this class of differential equations is the problem of the quantitative study (existence) in the case when the phase space of the equation is, in the general case, some Banach space. In this work, sufficient conditions for the existence of solutions for a system with parameters are obtained. The results are obtained by using fixed point theorems for operators on a cone. Our approach is based on Schaefer’s fixed point theorem more precisely. In addition, the existence of positive solutions is also investigated.

Abstract:The global dynamics of a nonautonomous Carathéodory scalar ordinary differential equation x ′ = f ( t , x ) , given by a function f which is concave in x, is determined by the existence or absence of an attractor-repeller pair of hyperbolic solutions. This property, here extended to a very general setting, is the key point to classify the dynamics of an equation which is a transition between two nonautonomous asymptotic limiting equations, both with an attractor-repeller pair. The main focus of the paper is to get rigorous criteria guaranteeing tracking (i.e. connection between the attractors of the past and the future) or tipping (absence of connection) for the particular case of equations x ′ = f ( t , x − Γ ( t ) ) , where Γ is asymptotically constant. Some computer simulations show the accuracy of the obtained estimates, which provide a powerful way to determine the occurrence of critical transitions without relying on a numerical approximation of the (always existing) locally pullback attractor.

Abstract:We consider a second-order equation of Duffing type. Bounds for the derivative of the restoring force are given which ensure the existence and uniqueness of a periodic solution. Furthermore, the unique periodic solution is asymptotically stable with sharp rate of exponential decay. In particular, for a restoring term independent of the variable $t$, a necessary and sufficient condition is obtained which guarantees the existence and uniqueness of a periodic solution that is stable.
