Abstract:This paper establishes semiorthogonal decompositions for derived Grassmannians of perfect complexes with Tor-amplitude in $[0,1]$. This result verifies the author's Quot formula conjecture [J21a] and generalizes and strengthens Toda's result in [Tod23]. We give applications of this result to various classical situations such as blowups of determinantal ideals, reducible schemes, and varieties of linear series on curves. Our approach utilizes the framework of derived algebraic geometry, allowing us to work over arbitrary base spaces over $\mathbb{Q}$. It also provides concrete descriptions of Fourier-Mukai kernels in terms of derived Schur functors.

Abstract:We construct a new category of vector spaces which contains both the standard category of vector spaces and Grassmannians. Its space of objects classifies vector bundles, its space of morphisms classifies bundle isomorphisms, and it can be delooped to obtain the topological $K$-theory spectrum.

Abstract:In this expository note, we discuss some results of the author on the structure of derived categories of equivariant coherent sheaves and the derived categories of geometric invariant theory quotients. We take a recent perspective, emphasizing the theory of restricted local cohomology. We also discuss several applications and concrete examples: studying the effects of birational modification on derived categories, constructing categorical completions of equivariant derived categories, and constructing actions of generalized braid groups on derived categories of GIT quotients. This is a contribution to the proceedings of the International Congress of Basic Science, held in July 2024.

Abstract:In this survey paper, we introduce the approach to construct complex Lie algebras via root categories. For the category of coherent sheaves over a weighted projective line,the approach provides a realization of the loop algebra of the Kac-Moody algebra associated with the corresponding star graph.As an application, we categorify the Weyl group of the corresponding Kac-Moody algebra.
The affine Grassmannian as a presheaf quotient

Abstract:For a reductive group $G$ over a ring $A$, its affine Grassmannian $\mathrm{Gr}_G$ plays important roles in a wide range of subjects and is typically defined as the étale sheafification of the presheaf quotient $LG/L^+G$ of the loop group $LG$ by its positive loop subgroup $L^+G$. We show that the Zariski sheafification gives the same result. Moreover, for totally isotropic $G$ (for instance, for quasi-split $G$), we show that no sheafification is needed at all: $\mathrm{Gr}_G$ is already the presheaf quotient $LG/L^+G$, which seems new already in the classical case of $\mathrm{GL}_n$ over $\mathbb{C}$. For totally isotropic $G$, we also show that the affine Grassmannian may be formed using polynomial loops. We deduce all of these results from the study of $G$-torsors on $\mathbb{P}^1_A$ that is ultimately built on the geometry of $\mathrm{Bun}_G$.

Graded Lie structure on cohomology of some exact monoidal categories

Abstract:For some exact monoidal categories, we describe explicitly a connection between topological and algebraic definitions of the Lie bracket on the extension algebra of the unit object. The topological definition, due to Schwede and Hermann, involves loops in extension categories. The algebraic definition, due to the first author, involves homotopy liftings of maps. As a consequence of our description, we prove that the topological definition indeed yields a Gerstenhaber algebra structure in this monoidal category setting. This answers a question of Hermann for those exact monoidal categories in which the unit object has a particular type of resolution that is called power flat. For use in proofs, we generalize $A_{\infty}$-coderivation and homotopy lifting techniques from bimodule categories to these exact monoidal categories.

Abstract:We study various kinds of Grassmannians or Lagrangian Grassmannians over $\mathbb{R}$, $\mathbb{C}$ or $\mathbb{H}$, all of which can be expressed as $\mathbb{G}/\mathbb{P}$ where $\mathbb{G}$ is a classical group and $\mathbb{P}$ is a parabolic subgroup of $\mathbb{G}$ with abelian unipotent radical. The same Grassmannians can also be realized as (classical) compact symmetric spaces $G/K$. We give explicit generators and relations for the de Rham cohomology rings of $\mathbb{G}/\mathbb{P}\cong G/K$. At the same time we describe certain filtered deformations of these rings, related to Clifford algebras and spin modules. While the cohomology rings are of our primary interest, the filtered setting of $K$-invariants in the Clifford algebra actually provides a more conceptual framework for the results we obtain.

Geometric categorifications of Verma modules: Grassmannian Quiver Hecke algebras

Abstract:Naisse and Vaz defined an extension of KLR algebras to categorify Verma modules. We realise these algebras geometrically as convolution algebras in Borel-Moore homology. For this we introduce Grassmannian-Steinberg quiver flag varieties. They generalize Steinberg quiver flag varieties in a non-obvious way, reflecting the diagrammatics from the Naisse-Vaz construction. Using different kind of stratifications we provide geometric explanations of the rather mysterious algebraic and diagrammatic basis theorems. A geometric categorification of Verma modules was recently found in the special case of $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ by Rouquier. Rouquier's construction uses coherent sheaves on certain quasi-map spaces to flag varieties (zastavas), whereas our construction is implicitly based on perverse sheaves. Both should be seen as parts (on dual sides) of a general geometric framework for the Naisse-Vaz approach. We first treat the (substantially easier) $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ case in detail and construct as a byproduct a geometric dg-model of the nil-Hecke algebras. The extra difficulties we encounter in general require the use of more complicated Grassmannian-Steinberg quiver flag varieties. Their definition arises from combinatorially defined diagram varieties which we assign to each Naisse-Vaz basis diagram. Our explicit analysis here might shed some light on categories of coherent sheaves on more general zastava spaces studied by Feigin-Finkelberg-Kuznetsov-Mirković and Braverman, which we expect to occur in a generalization of Rouquier's construction away from $\mathfrak{sl}_2$.

Sheaves of Higher Categories on Generalised Spaces

Abstract:We study the homotopy right Kan extension of homotopy sheaves on a category to its free cocompletion, i.e. to its category of presheaves. Any pretopology on the original category induces a canonical pretopology of generalised coverings on the free cocompletion. We show that with respect to these pretopologies the homotopy right Kan extension along the Yoneda embedding preserves homotopy sheaves valued in (sufficiently nice) simplicial model categories. Moreover, we show that this induces an equivalence between sheaves of spaces on the original category and colimit-preserving sheaves of spaces on its free cocompletion. We present three applications in geometry and topology: first, we prove that diffeological vector bundles descend along subductions of diffeological spaces. Second, we deduce that various flavours of bundle gerbes with connection satisfy $(\infty,2)$-categorical descent. Finally, we investigate smooth diffeomorphism actions in smooth bordism-type field theories on a manifold. We show how these smooth actions allow us to extract the values of a field theory on any object coherently from its values on generating objects of the bordism category.

Abstract:Let X be a smooth toric variety defined by the fan {\Sigma} . We consider {\Sigma} as a finite set with topology and define a natural sheaf of graded algebras A_{\Sigma} on {\Sigma} . The category of modules over A_{\Sigma} is studied (together with other related categories). This leads to a certain combinatorial Koszul duality equivalence. We describe the equivariant category of coherent sheaves coh_{X,T} and a related (slightly bigger) equivariant category O_{X,T}-mod in terms of sheaves of modules over the sheaf of algebras A_{\Sigma} . Eventually (for a complete X ) the combinatorial Koszul duality is interpreted in terms of the Serre functor on D^b(coh_{X,T})

Abstract:We study Serre structures on categories enriched in pivotal monoidal categories, and apply this to study Serre structures on two types of graded k-linear categories: categories with group actions and categories with graded hom spaces. We check that Serre structures are preserved by taking orbit categories and skew group categories, and describe the relationship with graded Frobenius algebras. Using a formal version of Auslander-Reiten translations, we show that the derived category of a d-representation finite algebra is fractionally Calabi-Yau if and only if its preprojective algebra has a graded Nakayama automorphism of finite order. This connects various results in the literature and gives new examples of fractional Calabi-Yau algebras.

Abstract:We are concerned with relating derived categories of all modules of two dual Koszul algebras defined by a locally bounded quiver. We first generalize the well known Acyclic Assembly Lemma and formalize an old method of extending a functor from an additive category into a complex category to its complex category. Applying this to the Koszul functor associated with a Koszul algebra defined by a gradable quiver, we obtain a Koszul complex functor, that descends to an equivalence of a continuous family of pairs of triangulated subcategories of doubly unbounded complexes of the respective derived categories of all modules of the Koszul algebra and its Koszul dual. Under this special setting, this extends Beilinson, Ginzburg and Soegel's Koszul duality. In case the Koszul algebra is right or left locally bounded and its Koszul dual is left or right locally bounded respectively (for instance, the quiver has no right infinite path or no left infinite path), our Koszul duality restricts to an equivalence of the bounded derived categories of finitely supported modules, and an equivalence of the bounded derived categories of finite dimensional modules.

A correspondence between additive and monoidal categorifications with application to Grassmannian cluster categories

Abstract:Building on work of Derksen-Fei and Plamondon, we formulate a conjectural correspondence between additive and monoidal categorifications of cluster algebras, which reveals a new connection between the additive reachability conjecture and the multiplicative reachability conjecture. Evidence for this conjecture is provided by results on Grassmannian cluster algebras and categories in the tame types. Moreover, we give a construction of the generic kernels introduced by Hernandez and Leclerc for type $\mathbb{A}$ via the Grassmannian cluster categories. As an application of the correspondence, we construct rigid indecomposable modules and indecomposable non-rigid rigid modules in Grassmannian cluster categories.

Abstract:Recent work of Chen He has determined through GKM methods the Borel equivariant cohomology with rational coefficients of the isotropy action on a real Grassmannian and an real oriented Grassmannian through GKM methods. In this expository note, we propound a less involved approach, due essentially to Vitali Kapovitch, to computing equivariant cohomology rings $H^*_K(G/H)$ for $G,K,H$ connected Lie groups, and apply it to recover the equivariant cohomology of the Grassmannians. The bulk is setup and commentary; once one believes in the model, the proof itself is under a page.

Abstract:We present a restricted model for the bounded derived category of gentle algebras that encodes the indecomposable objects and positive extensions between them. The model is then used to count the number of $d$-term silting objects for linearly oriented $A_n$, recovering the result that they are counted by the Pfaff-Fuss-Catalan numbers.

Abstract:We define a categorical action of the shifted quantum loop group of $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ on the derived categories of Quot schemes of finite length quotient sheaves on a smooth projective curve. As an application, we obtain a semi-orthogonal decomposition of the derived categories of Quot schemes, of representation theoretic origin. We use this decomposition to calculate the cohomology of interesting tautological vector bundles over the Quot scheme.

Abstract:Consider a Grassmannian $\mathrm{Gr}(2, V)$ for an even-dimensional vector space $V$. Its derived category of coherent sheaves has a Lefschetz exceptional collection with respect to the Plücker embedding. We consider a variety $X_1$ of pairs consisting of a degenerate $2$-form on $V$ and a line in its kernel. Note that $X_1$ is generically a $\mathbb{P}^1$-fibration over the Pfaffian variety of degenerate $2$-forms on $V$. We construct an exceptional collection of coherent sheaves on $X_1$ such that the subcategory of $D^b_{\mathrm{coh}}(X_1)$ generated by that collection is conjecturally equivalent to the homologically projectively dual category of the Grassmannian.

Abstract:We calculate various categories of equivariant sheaves on the Beilinson-Drinfeld Grassmannian in Langlands dual terms. For one, we obtain the factorizable derived geometric Satake theorem. More generally, we calculate the categorical analogue of unramified vectors in the Jacquet module of sheaves on the Grassmannian. In all cases, our spectral categories involve factorization modules for factorization algebras related to the Langlands dual group.

Abstract:Let be any closed symmetric monoidal Grothendieck category. We show that K-flat covers exist universally in the category of chain complexes and that the Verdier quotient of by the K-flat complexes is always a well generated triangulated category. Under the further assumption that has a set of -flat generators we can show more: (i) The category is in recollement with the -pure derived category and the usual derived category, and (ii) The usual derived category is the homotopy category of a cofibrantly generated and monoidal model structure whose cofibrant objects are precisely the K-flat complexes. We also give a condition guaranteeing that the right orthogonal to K-flat is precisely the acyclic complexes of -pure injectives. We show this condition holds for quasi-coherent sheaves over a quasi-compact and semiseparated scheme.
