Abstract:We present a complete rewriting system for twisted right-angled Artin groups. Utilizing the normal form coming from the rewriting system, we provide applications that illustrate differences and similarities with right-angled Artin groups, both at the geometric and algebraic levels.

Abstract:We characterise twisted right-angled Artin groups that are subgroup separable using only their defining mixed graphs; we deduce that the group is subgroup separable if and only if the underlying simplicial graph of the mixed graph does not contain paths or squares in 4 vertices. Our work generalises the results of Metaftsis - Raptis on classical right-angled Artin groups.

Abstract:Twisted right-angled Artin groups are defined through presentation based on mixed graphs. Each vertex corresponds to a generator, each undirected edge yields a commuting relation and each directed edge gives a Klein bottle relation. If there is no directed edge, then this reduces to an ordinary right-angled Artin group. There is a characterization of right-angled Artin groups which can be embedded in knot groups by Katayama. In this paper, we completely determine twisted right-angled Artin groups embedded in knot groups.

Abstract:In this paper, we study homological properties of twisted tensor products of connected graded algebras. We focus first on the Ext-algebras of twisted tensor products with a certain form of twisting maps. We show those Ext-algebras are also twisted tensor products, and describe the twisting maps for such Ext-algebras explicitly. With those preparations, we describe Nakayama automorphisms of twisted tensor products of noetherian Artin–Schelter regular algebras.
Right-angled Artin groups as normal subgroups of mapping class groups

Abstract:We construct the first examples of normal subgroups of mapping class groups that are isomorphic to non-free right-angled Artin groups. Our construction also gives normal, non-free right-angled Artin subgroups of other groups, such as braid groups and pure braid groups, as well as many subgroups of the mapping class group, such as the Torelli subgroup. Our work recovers and generalizes the seminal result of Dahmani-Guirardel-Osin, which gives free, purely pseudo-Anosov normal subgroups of mapping class groups. We give two applications of our methods: (1) we produce an explicit proper normal subgroup of the mapping class group that is not contained in any level $m$ congruence subgroup, and (2) we produce an explicit example of a pseudo-Anosov mapping class with the property that all of its even powers have free normal closure and its odd powers normally generate the entire mapping class group. The technical theorem at the heart of our work is a new version of the windmill apparatus of Dahmani-Guirardel-Osin, which is tailored to the setting of group actions on the projection complexes of Bestvina-Bromberg-Fujiwara.

Abstract:We prove that every right-angled Artin group occurs as a finite-index subgroup of the outer automorphism group of another right-angled Artin group. We furthermore show that the latter group can be chosen in such a way that the quotient is isomorphic to $(\mathbb{Z}/2\mathbb{Z})^N$ for some $N$. For these, we give explicit constructions using the group of pure symmetric outer automorphisms. Moreover, we need two conditions by Day-Wade and Wade-Brück about when this group is a right-angled Artin group and when it has finite index.

Twisted conjugacy in dihedral Artin groups I: Torus Knot groups

Abstract:In this paper we provide an alternative solution to a result by Juhász that the twisted conjugacy problem for odd dihedral Artin groups is solvable, that is, groups with presentation $G(m) = \langle a,b \; | \; _{m}(a,b) = {}_{m}(b,a) \rangle$, where $m\geq 3$ is odd, and $_{m}(a,b)$ is the word $abab \dots$ of length $m$, is solvable. Our solution provides an implementable linear time algorithm, by considering an alternative group presentation to that of a torus knot group, and working with geodesic normal forms. An application of this result is that the conjugacy problem is solvable in extensions of odd dihedral Artin groups.

Abstract:We construct quasi-isometric embeddings from right-angled Artin groups into the outer automorphism group of a free group. These homomorphisms are in analogy with those constructed in \cite{CLM}, where the target group is the mapping class group of a surface. Toward this goal, we develop tools in the free group setting that mirror those for surface groups as well as discuss various analogs of subsurface projection; these may be of independent interest.

Abstract:Abstract A twisting system is one of the major tools to study graded algebras; however, it is often difficult to construct a (nonalgebraic) twisting system if a graded algebra is given by generators and relations. In this paper, we show that a twisted algebra of a geometric algebra is determined by a certain automorphism of its point variety. As an application, we classify twisted algebras of three-dimensional geometric Artin–Schelter regular algebras up to graded algebra isomorphism.

Abstract:The motivation of this paper is to study the natural quiver of an artinian algebra, a new kind of quivers, as a tool independing upon the associated basic algebra. In [5], the notion of the natural quiver of an artinian algebra was introduced and then was used to generalize the Gabriel theorem for non-basic artinian algebras splitting over radicals and non-basic finite dimensional algebras with 2-nilpotent radicals via pseudo path algebras and generalized path algebras respectively. In this paper, firstly we consider the relationship between the natural quiver and the ordinary quiver of a finite dimensional algebra. Secondly, the generalized Gabriel theorem is obtained for radical-graded artinian algebras. Moreover, Gabriel-type algebras are introduced to outline those artinian algebras satisfying the generalized Gabriel theorem here and in [5]. For such algebras, the uniqueness of the related generalized path algebra and quiver holds up to isomorphism in the case when the ideal is admissible. For an artinian algebra, there are two basic algebras, the first is that associated to the algebra itself; the second is that associated to the correspondent generalized path algebra. In the final part, it is shown that for a Gabriel-type artinian algebra, the first basic algebra is a quotient of the second basic algebra. Twist automorphism for a generalized root system of affine ADE type

Abstract:For a generalized root system of affine ADE type, we introduce a twist automorphism. We prove that the Dubrovin-Zhang extended affine Weyl group is isomorphic to our (modified) extended affine Weyl group, which is an extension of the affine Weyl group by the twist automorphism. We also show that the number of root bases with a Coxeter transformation modulo the twist automorphism is equal to the degree of the Lyashko-Looijenga map of the Frobenius manifold constructed by Dubrovin-Zhang. As analogues of the extended affine Weyl group, we define an extended Artin group and an extended Seidel-Thomas braid group. We study the relationship between the extended affine Weyl group and the extended Seidel-Thomas braid group.

Abstract:There is a procedure, due to Dani and Levcovitz, for taking a finite simplicial graph (\Gamma) and a subgraph (\Lambda) of its complement, checking some conditions, and, if satisfied, producing a graph (\Delta) such that the right-angled Artin group with presentation graph (\Delta) is a finite index subgroup of the right-angled Coxeter group with presentation graph (\Gamma). They do not tell us how to find (\Lambda), given (\Gamma).

Abstract:It has long been known that the combinatorial properties of a graph $\Gamma$ are closely related to the group theoretic properties of its right angled artin group (raag). It's natural to ask if the graph homomorphisms are similarly related to the group homomorphisms between two raags. The main result of this paper shows that there is a purely algebraic way to characterize the raags amongst groups, and the graph homomorphisms amongst the group homomorphisms. As a corollary we present a new algorithm for recovering $\Gamma$ from its raag.

We also provide another proof for a result of Koberda saying that the graph is uniquely determined by the first and second cohomology groups, together with the cup product, of the associated right-angled Artin group.

Abstract:We investigate criteria ensuring that a one-relator group $G$ contains a right-angled Artin subgroup $A(\Gamma)$, corresponding to a finite graph $\Gamma$. In particular, we prove that if the positive submonoid $T(\Gamma)$, of $A(\Gamma)$, embeds into $G$ then so does all of $A(\Gamma)$, unless $\Gamma$ is totally disconnected. As by-products of our methods we obtain characterisations of one-relator groups that have property $P_{nai}$ and that are $C^*$-simple.

Abstract:In an attempt to understand the origin of post groups introduced by C. Bai, L. Guo, Y. Sheng, R. Tang, from the perspective of rings, we introduce the notion of (weak) twisted post groups. First, we show that every element in a twisted post group is attached to a unique group and the twisted post group can be decomposed as the disjoint union of such groups. Next, we show the category of weak twisted post groups and the category of skew trusses are isomorphic, every two-sided twisted post group has the structure of two-sided skew braces. Furthermore, we prove that every abelian two-sided twisted post group is associated with a radical ring. Then we introduce the notion of twisted post Lie algebras, and study their algebraic properties. Indeed, we show that the differentiation of every twisted post Lie group is a twisted post Lie algebra. Finally, we linearize (weak) twisted post groups, and propose the notion of (weak) twisted post Hopf algebras. We show that every twisted post Hopf algebra gives rise to another Hopf algebra, called sub-adjacent Hopf algebra.

Characterization of Left Artinian Algebras Through Pseudo Path Algebras

Abstract:Abstract In this paper, using pseudo path algebras, we generalize Gabriel's Theorem on elementary algebras to left Artinian algebras over a field k when the quotient algebra can be lifted by a radical. Our particular interest is when the dimension of the quotient algebra determined by the nth Hochschild cohomology is less than 2 (for example, when k is finite or char k = 0). Using generalized path algebras, a generalization of Gabriel's Theorem is given for finite dimensional algebras with 2-nilpotent radicals which is splitting over its radical. As a tool, the so-called pseudo path algebra is introduced as a new generalization of path algebras, whose quotient by ken is a generalized path algebra (see Fact 2.6). The main result is that (i) for a left Artinian k–algebra A and r = r(A) the radical of A. if the quotient algebra A/r can be lifted then A ≅ PSEk (Δ, , ρ) with Js ⊂ (ρ) ⊂ J for some s (Theorem 3.2); (ii) If A is a finite dimensional k–algebra with 2-nilpotent radical and the quotient by radical can be lifted, then A ≅ k(Δ, , ρ) with 2 ⊂ (ρ) ⊂ 2 + ∩ ker (Theorem 4.2), where Δ is the quiver of A and ρ is a set of relations. For all the cases we discuss in this paper, we prove the uniqueness of such quivers Δ and the generalized path algebras/pseudo path algebras satisfying the isomorphisms when the ideals generated by the relations are admissible (see Theorem 3.5 and 4.4).

Abstract:Given an Artinian algebra A over a field k, there are several combinatorial objects associated to A. They are the diagram D-A as defined by Drozd and Kirichenko, the natural quiver Delta(A) defined by Li (cf. Section 2), and a generalized version of k-species (A/r, r/r(2)) with r being the Jacobson radical of A. When A is splitting over the field k, the diagram D-A and the well-known Ext-quiver Gamma(A) are the same. The main objective of this paper is to investigate the relations among these combinatorial objects and in turn to use these relations to give a characterization of the algebra A.
Right-angled Artin groups and the cohomology basis graph

Abstract:Let $\Gamma$ be a finite graph and let $A(\Gamma)$ be the corresponding right-angled Artin group. From an arbitrary basis $\mathcal B$ of $H^1(A(\Gamma),\mathbb F)$ over an arbitrary field, we construct a natural graph $\Gamma_{\mathcal B}$ from the cup product, called the \emph{cohomology basis graph}. We show that $\Gamma_{\mathcal B}$ always contains $\Gamma$ as a subgraph. This provides an effective way to reconstruct the defining graph $\Gamma$ from the cohomology of $A(\Gamma)$, to characterize the planarity of the defining graph from the algebra of $A(\Gamma)$, and to recover many other natural graph-theoretic invariants. We also investigate the behavior of the cohomology basis graph under passage to elementary subminors, and show that it is not well-behaved under edge contraction.
