Abstract:Let F be the function field of a curve over a complete discretely valued field K. Let G be a semisimple simply connected linear algebraic group over F of type An. We give a description of the obstruction to local global principle for principal homogeneous spaces under G over F with respect to discrete valuations of F in terms of R-equivalence classes of G over some suitable over fields. Using this description we prove that this obstruction vanishes under some conditions on the residue field K.

Abstract:We introduce the notions of strong local Torelli and T-class for polarized manifolds, and prove that strong local Torelli implies global Torelli theorem on the Torelli spaces for polarized manifolds in the T-class. We discuss many new examples of projective manifolds for which such global Torelli theorem holds. As applications we prove that, in these cases, a canonical completion of the Torelli space is a bounded pseudoconvex domain in complex Euclidean space, and show that generic Torelli implies global Torelli on moduli space with certain level structure.

Abstract:Let $F$ be a non Archimedean local field, and $G$ be the $F$-points of a connected quasi-split reductive group defined over $F$. In this note we propose a converse theorem statement for generic Langlands parameters of $G$ when the Langlands dual group of $G$ is acceptable. We then prove it when $G$ is $F$-split. Then we consider a variant which we prove for $G=\mathrm{G}_2(F)$ and all quasi-split classical groups. When $F$ has characteristic zero and assuming the validity of the Gross-Prasad and Rallis conjecture, this latter variant translates via the generic local Langlands correspondence of Jantzen and Liu, into the usual local converse theorems for classical groups expressed in terms of Shahidi's gamma factors.

Abstract:Let $K$ be a complete discretely valued field with the residue field $\kappa$. Assume that cohomological dimension of $\kappa$ is less than or equal to $1$ (for example, $\kappa$ is an algebraically closed field or a finite field). Let $F$ be the function field of a curve over $K$. Let $n$ be a squarefree positive integer not divisible by char$(\kappa)$. Then for any two degree $n$ abelian extensions, we prove that the local-global principle holds for the associated multinorm torus with respect to discrete valuations. Let $\mathscr{X}$ be a regular proper model of $F$ such that the reduced special fibre $X$ is a union of regular curves with normal crossings. Suppose that $\kappa$ is algebraically closed with $char(\kappa)\neq 2$. If the graph associated to $\mathscr{X}$ is a tree (e.g. $F = K(t)$) then we show that the same local-global principle holds for the multinorm torus associated to finitely many abelian extensions where one of the extensions is quadratic and others are of degree not divisible by $4$.

Abstract:Let $G$ be a split connected reductive group over a non-archimedean local field. In the $p$-adic setting, Orlik-Strauch constructed functors from the BGG category $\mathcal{O}$ associated to the Lie algebra of $G$ to the category of locally analytic representation of $G$. We generalize these functors to such groups over non-archimedean local fields of arbitrary characteristic. To this end, we introduce the hyperalgebra of a non-archimedean Lie group $G$, which generalizes its Lie algebra, and consider topological modules over the algebra of locally analytic distributions on $G$ and subalgebras related to this hyperalgebra.

Abstract:We generalize the concept of rigid inner forms, defined by Kaletha in [Kal16], to the setting of a local function field $F$ in order state the local Langlands conjectures for arbitrary connected reductive groups over $F$. To do this, we define for a connected reductive group $G$ over $F$ a new cohomology set $H^{1}(\mathcal{E}, Z \to G) \subset H_{\text{fpqc}}^{1}(\mathcal{E}, G)$ for a gerbe $\mathcal{E}$ attached to a class in $H_{\text{fppf}}^{2}(F, u)$ for a certain canonically-defined profinite commutative group scheme $u$, building up to an analogue of the classical Tate-Nakayama duality theorem. We define a relative transfer factor for an endoscopic datum serving a connected reductive group $G$ over $F$, and use rigid inner forms to extend this to an absolute transfer factor, enabling the statement of endoscopic conjectures relating stable virtual characters and $\dot{s}$-stable virtual characters for a semisimple $\dot{s}$ associated to a tempered Langlands parameter.

On the genera of semisimple groups defined over an integral domain of a global function field

Abstract:Let $K=\mathbb{F}_q(C)$ be the global function field of rational functions over a smooth and projective curve $C$ defined over a finite field $\mathbb{F}_q$. The ring of regular functions on $C-S$ where $S \neq \emptyset$ is any finite set of closed points on $C$ is a Dedekind domain $\mathcal{O}_S$ of $K$. For a semisimple $\mathcal{O}_S$-group $\underline{G}$ with a smooth fundamental group $\underline{F}$, we aim to describe both the set of genera of $\underline{G}$ and its principal genus (the latter if $\underline{G} \otimes_{\mathcal{O}_S} K$ is isotropic at $S$) in terms of abelian groups depending on $\mathcal{O}_S$ and $\underline{F}$ only. This leads to a necessary and sufficient condition for the Hasse local-global principle to hold for certain $\underline{G}$. We also use it to express the Tamagawa number $\tau(G)$ of a semisimple $K$-group $G$ by the Euler Poincaré invariant. This facilitates the computation of $\tau(G)$ for twisted $K$-groups.

The constructive content of a local-global principle with an application to the structure of a finitely generated projective module

Abstract:We study the structure of an idempotent matrix $F$ over a commutative ring. We make explicit the fundamental system of orthogonal idempotents, hidden in this matrix, for each of which the matrix has a well-defined rank. Similarly we find a finite number of comaximal elements of the ring which make explicit the fact that the codomain of $F$ is locally free. Our proofs are based on the abstract local-global principle. We give two methods to recover a constructive proof of these results. The most interesting one is a constructive interpretation of a very simple version of the abstract local-global principle. We think we have made a significant step towards a constructive version of the "Hilbert programme" for abstract algebra, i.e. the automatic translation of proofs of abstract algebra into constructive proofs.

Abstract:Let $k$ be an algebraically closed field, a finite field or a $p$-adic field. Let $K_0=k((x,y))$ be the field of Laurent series in two variables over $k$. We define Tate-Shafarevich groups of a commutative group scheme over $K_0$ via cohomology classes locally trivial at each completion of $K_0$ coming from a codimension 1 point of $\text{Spec}\; k[[x,y]]$. We establish duality theorems between Tate-Shafarevich groups for finite groups schemes and for tori. We apply these results to the study of the obstruction to the local-global principle for $K_0$-torsors under a connected linear algebraic group, answering in that way a question of Colliot-Thélène, Parimala and Suresh, and to the weak approximation for tori over $K_0$. Abstract:We study the rigidity of the local conditions in two well-known local-global principles for elliptic curves over number fields. In particular, we consider a local-global principle for torsion due to Serre and Katz, and one for isogenies due to Sutherland. For each of these local-global principles, we prove that if an elliptic curve $E$ over a number field $K$ is such that it fails to satisfy the local condition for at least one prime ideal of $K$ of good reduction, then $E$ can satisfy the local condition at no more than 75% of prime ideals. We also give for (conjecturally) all elliptic curves over the rationals without complex multiplication, the densities of primes that satisfy the local conditions mentioned above.

Abstract:We show that each local field $\mathbb{F}_q((t))$ of characteristic $p > 0$ is characterised up to isomorphism within the class of all fields of imperfect exponent at most $1$ by (certain small quotients of) its absolute Galois group together with natural axioms concerning the $p$-torsion of its Brauer group. This complements previous work by Efrat-Fesenko, who analysed fields whose absolute Galois group is isomorphic to that of a local field of characteristic $p$.

Abstract:For a reductive group $G$, we prove that complex irreducible rigid $G$-local systems with quasi-unipotent monodromies and finite order abelianization on a smooth curve are motivic, generalizing a theorem of Katz for $GL_n$. We do so by showing that the Hecke eigensheaf corresponding to such a local system is itself motivic. Unlike other works in the subject, we work entirely over the complex numbers. In the setting of de Rham geometric Langlands, we prove the existence of Hecke eigensheaves associated to any irreducible $G$-local system with regular singularities. We also provide a spectral decomposition of a naturally defined automorphic category over the stack of regular singular local systems with prescribed eigenvalues of the local monodromies at infinity. Finally, we establish a relationship between rigidity for complex local systems and automorphic rigidity, answering a conjecture of Yun in the tame complex setting.

Abstract:For a connected reductive group G and an affine smooth G-variety X over the complex numbers, the localization functor takes g-modules to D-X-modules. We extend this construction to an equivariant and derived setting using the formalism of h-complexes due to Beilinson-Ginzburg, and show that the localizations of Harish-Chandra (g, K)-modules onto X = H\G have regular holonomic cohomologies when H, K subset of G are both spherical reductive subgroups. The relative Lie algebra homologies and Ext-branching spaces for (g, K)-modules are interpreted geometrically in terms of equivariant derived localizations. As direct consequences, we show that they are finite-dimensional under the same assumptions, and relate Euler-Poincare characteristics to local index theorem; this recovers parts of the recent results of M. Kitagawa. Examples and discussions on the relation to Schwartz homologies are also included.
The Grothendieck--Serre conjecture over valuation rings

Abstract:In this article, we establish the Grothendieck-Serre conjecture over valuation rings: for a reductive group scheme $G$ over a valuation ring $V$ with fraction field $K$, a $G$-torsor over $V$ is trivial if it is trivial over $K$. This result is predicted by the original Grothendieck-Serre conjecture and the resolution of singularities. The novelty of our proof lies in overcoming subtleties brought by general nondiscrete valuation rings. By using flasque resolutions and inducting with local cohomology, we prove a non-Noetherian counterpart of Colliot-Thélène-Sansuc's case of tori. Then, taking advantage of techniques in algebraization, we obtain the passage to the Henselian rank one case. Finally, we induct on Levi subgroups and use the integrality of rational points of anisotropic groups to reduce to the semisimple anisotropic case, in which we appeal to properties of parahoric subgroups in Bruhat-Tits theory to conclude. In the last section, by using properties of reflexive sheaves, we also prove a variant of Nisnevich's purity conjecture.

Abstract:We prove a local-to-global principle for Brauer classes: for any finite collection of non-trivial Brauer classes on a variety over a field of transcendence degree at least 3, there are infinitely many specializations where each class stays non-trivial. This is deduced from a Grothendieck--Lefschetz-type theorem for Brauer groups of certain smooth stacks. This also leads to the notion of a Brauertsch field.

Abstract:Let S be a smooth del Pezzo surface that is defined over a field K and splits over a Galois extension L. Let G be either the split reductive group given by the root system of $S_L$ in Pic $S_L$, or a form of it containing the Néron-Severi torus. Let $\mathcal{G}$ be the G-torsor over $S_L$ obtained by extension of structure group from a universal torsor $\mathcal{T}$ over $S_L$. We prove that $\mathcal{G}$ does not descend to S unless $\mathcal{T}$ does. This is in contrast to a result of Friedman and Morgan that such $\mathcal{G}$ always descend to singular del Pezzo surfaces over $\mathbb{C}$ from their desingularizations.
