Abstract:We define and study q-delta-matroids, and q-g-matroids. These objects are analogues, for finite-dimensional vector spaces over finite fields, of delta-matroids and g-matroids arising from finite sets. We compare axiomatic descriptions with definitions by means of strong maps of q-matroids.

Abstract:For classical matroids, the direct sum is one of the most straightforward methods to make a new matroid out of existing ones. This paper defines a direct sum for q -matroids, the q -analogue of matroids. This is a lot less straightforward than in the classical case, as we will try to convince the reader. With the use of submodular functions and the q -analogue of matroid union we come to a definition of the direct sum of q -matroids. As a motivation for this definition, we show it has some desirable properties.

Alternatives for the $q$-matroid axioms of independent spaces, bases, and spanning spaces

Abstract:It is well known that in q-matroids, axioms for independent spaces, bases, and spanning spaces differ from the classical case of matroids, since the straightforward q-analogue of the classical axioms does not give a q-matroid. For this reason, a fourth axiom has been proposed. In this paper we show how we can describe these spaces with only three axioms, providing two alternative ways to do that. As an application, we show direct cryptomorphisms between independent spaces and circuits and between independent spaces and bases.

Abstract:In this paper we develop the theory of cyclic flats of q -matroids. We show that the cyclic flats, together with their ranks, uniquely determine a q -matroid and hence derive a new q -cryptomorphism. We introduce the notion of -independence of an -subspace of and we show that q -matroids generalize this concept, in the same way that matroids generalize the notion of linear independence of vectors over a given field.

Most $q$-matroids are not representable

Abstract:A $q$-matroid is the analogue of a matroid which arises by replacing the finite ground set of a matroid with a finite-dimensional vector space over a finite field. These $q$-matroids are motivated by coding theory as the representable $q$-matroids are the ones that stem from rank-metric codes. In this note, we establish a $q$-analogue of Nelson's theorem in matroid theory by proving that asymptotically almost all $q$-matroids are not representable. This answers a question about representable $q$-matroids by Jurrius and Pellikaan strongly in the negative.

Abstract:The Critical Problem posed by H. Crapo and G.-C. Rota is one of the significant problems in matroid theory. It is the problem for finding the maximum dimension of a subspace that contains no member of a fixed subset S of F q k . The problem is also equivalent to finding the critical exponent of the associated matroid. In 1966, W.T. Tutte introduced the useful terminology of blocks which is one of the main tools to approach the Critical Problem. In this paper, to formulate the Critical Problem for a q-analogue of polymatroids, we define the critical exponent of them as an analogue of that of representable matroids. Associating ( q , m ) -polymatroids with Delsarte rank-metric codes via a ( q , m ) -polymatroid analogue of the Critical Theorem, we extend the notion of blocks in the classical matroid theory to the case of ( q , m ) -polymatroids.

K-classes of delta-matroids and equivariant localization

Abstract:Delta-matroids are "type B" generalizations of matroids in the same way that maximal orthogonal Grassmannians are generalizations of Grassmannians. A delta-matroid analogue of the Tutte polynomial of a matroid is the interlace polynomial. We give a geometric interpretation for the interlace polynomial via the K-theory of maximal orthogonal Grassmannians. To do so, we develop a new Hirzebruch-Riemann-Roch-type formula for the type B permutohedral variety.

Abstract:Abstract We establish a connection between the algebraic geometry of the type permutohedral toric variety and the combinatorics of delta‐matroids. Using this connection, we compute the volume and lattice point counts of type generalized permutohedra. Applying tropical Hodge theory to a new framework of “tautological classes of delta‐matroids,” modeled after certain vector bundles associated to realizable delta‐matroids, we establish the log‐concavity of a Tutte‐like invariant for a broad family of delta‐matroids that includes all realizable delta‐matroids. Our results include new log‐concavity statements for all (ordinary) matroids as special cases.

Abstract:In 1976, Delsarte introduced the notion of $q$-analogs of designs, and $q$-analogs of graphs were introduced recently by M. Braun et al. In this paper, we extend that study by giving a method for constructing transitive regular $q$-analogs of graphs. Further, we illustrate the method by giving some examples. Additionally, we introduced the notion of $q$-analogs of quasi-strongly regular graphs and give examples of transitive $q$-analogs of quasi-strongly regular graphs coming from spreads.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce a certain class H-m,q(lambda,alpha)(zeta,M) of normalized analytic functions of complex order connected with a q-analogue of integral operators. For this complex-order analytic function class, we determine a sufficient condition in terms of the coefficients, estimates for the coefficients and a maximization theorem concerning the coefficients. Various consequences and applications of our main results are also considered. A brief remark about the demonstrated equivalence of the q-calculus and the so-called (p,q)-calculus is also presented.

Abstract:Gross, Mansour, and Tucker introduced the partial-duality polynomial of a ribbon graph [Distributions, European J. Combin. 86, 1--20, 2020], the generating function enumerating partial duals by the Euler genus. Chmutov and Vignes-Tourneret wondered if this polynomial and its conjectured properties would hold for general delta-matroids, which are combinatorial abstractions of ribbon graphs. Yan and Jin contributed to this inquiry by identifying a subset of delta-matroids-specifically, even normal binary ones-whose twist polynomials are characterized by a singular term. Building upon this foundation, the current paper expands the scope of the investigation to encompass even non-binary delta-matroids, revealing that none of them have width-changing twists.

Abstract:In this note, we give a rank function axiomatization for delta-matroids and study the corresponding rank generating function. We relate an evaluation of the rank generating function to the number of independent sets of the delta-matroid, and we prove a log-concavity result for that evaluation using the theory of Lorentzian polynomials.

Abstract:A useful reduction is presented to determine the finiteness of Delta-good module category F(Delta) of a quasi-hereditary algebra. As an application of the reduction, the F(Delta)-finiteness of quasi-hereditary M-twisted double incidence algebras of posets is discussed. In particular, a complete classification of F(Delta)-finite M-twisted double incidence algebras is given in case the posets are linearly ordered.

Abstract:Binary delta-matroids are closed under vertex flips, which consist of the natural operations of twist and loop complementation. In this note we provide an extension of this result from GF(2) to GF(4). As a consequence, quaternary matroids are "safe" under vertex flips (vf-safe for short). As an application, we find that the matroid of a bicycle space of a quaternary matroid is independent of the chosen representation. This extends a result of Vertigan [J. Comb. Theory B (1998)] concerning the bicycle dimension of quaternary matroids.

$q$-Analogs of divisible design graphs and Deza graphs

Abstract:Divisible design graphs were introduced in 2011 by Haemers, Kharaghani and Meulenberg. In this paper, we introduce the notion of $q$-analogs of divisible design graphs and show that all $q$-analogs of divisible design graphs come from spreads, and are actually $q$-analogs of strongly regular graphs. Deza graphs were introduced by Erickson, Fernando, Haemers and Hardy in 1999. In this paper, we introduce $q$-analogs of Deza graphs. Further, we determine possible parameters, give examples of $q$-analogs of Deza graphs and characterize all non-strongly regular $q$-analogs of Deza graphs with the smallest parameters.

Abstract:Using Mellin-Barnes contour integrals, we aim at suggesting a q-analogue (q-extension) of the several variable Aleph-function. Then we present Riemann Liouville fractional q-integral and q-differential formulae for the q-extended several variable Aleph-function. Using the q-analogue of the Leibniz rule for the fractional q-derivative of a product of two basic functions, we also provide a formula for the q-extended several variable Aleph-function, which is expressed in terms of an infinite series of the q-extended several variable Aleph-function. Since the three main formulas presented in this article are so general, they can be reduced to yield a number of identities involving q-extended simpler special functions. In this connection, we choose only one main formula to offer some of its particular instances involving diverse q-extended special functions, for example, the q-extended I-function, the q-extended H-function, and the q-extended Meijer's G-function. The results presented here are hoped and believed to find some applications, in particular, in quantum mechanics.
