Abstract:Let $k$ be a field and $X$ be a smooth projective surface over $k$ with a rational point, we discuss the condition of splitting off the top cell for the motivic stable homotopy type of $X$. We also study some outlying examples, such as K3 surfaces.

Abstract:In this paper, we discuss the motivic stable homotopy type of abelian varieties. For an abelian variety over a field $k$ with a rational point, it always splits off a top-dimensional cell in motivic stable homotopy category $\text{SH}(k)$. Let $k = \mathbb{R}$, there is a concrete splitting which is determined by the motive of X and the real points $X(\mathbb{R})$ in $\text{SH}(\mathbb{R})_\mathbb{Q}$. We will also discuss this splitting from a viewpoint of the Chow-Witt correspondences.

Recent Results on the Moduli Spaces of Riemann Surfaces

Abstract:In this paper we briefly discuss some of our recent results in the study of moduli space of Riemann surfaces. It is naturally divided into two parts, one about the differential geometric aspect, another on the topological aspect of the moduli spaces. To understand the geometry of the moduli spaces we introduced new metrics, studied in detail all of the known classical complete metrics, especially the Kähler-Einstein metric. As a corollary we proved that the logarithmic cotangent bundle of the moduli space is strictly stable in the sense of Mumford. The topological results we obtained were motivated by conjectures from string theory. We will describe in this part our proofs by localization method of the Mariño-Vafa formula, its two partition analogue as well as the theory of topological vertex and the simple localization proofs of the ELSV formula and the Witten conjecture. The applications of these formulas in Gromov-Witten theory and string duality will also be mentioned.

Abstract:We prove a cohomological splitting result for Hamiltonian fibrations over enumeratively rationally connected symplectic manifolds As a key application, we prove that the cohomology of a smooth, projective family over a smooth (stably) rational projective variety splits additively over any field. The main ingredients in our arguments include the theory of Fukaya-Ono-Parker (FOP) perturbations developed by the first and third author, which allows one to define integer-valued Gromov-Witten type invariants, and variants of Abouzaid-McLean-Smith's global Kuranishi charts tailored to concrete geometric problems.

Abstract:We show the properness of the moduli stack of stable surfaces over $\mathbb{Z}[1/30]$, assuming the locally-stable reduction conjecture for stable surfaces. This relies on a local Kawamata--Viehweg vanishing theorem for for 3-dimensional log canonical singularities at closed point of characteristic $p \neq 2, 3$ and $5$ which are not log canonical centres.

Homological stability for the space of hypersurfaces with marked points

Abstract:We study the space of smooth marked hypersurfaces in a given linear system. Specifically, we prove a homology h-principle to compare it with a space of sections of an appropriate jet bundle. Using rational models, we compute its rational cohomology in a range of degrees, and deduce a homological stability result for hypersurfaces of increasing degree. We also describe the Hodge weights on the stable cohomology, and thereby connect our topological result to motivic results of Howe.

Abstract:The compactification $\overline M_{1,3}$ of the Gieseker moduli space of surfaces of general type with $K_X^2 =1 $ and $\chi(X)=3$ in the moduli space of stable surfaces parametrises so-called stable I-surfaces. We classify all such surfaces which are 2-Gorenstein into four types using a mix of algebraic and geometric techniques. We find a new divisor in the closure of the Gieseker component and a new irreducible component of the moduli space.

Abstract:We compute the algebraic $K$-theory of some classes of surfaces defined over finite fields. We achieve this by first calculating the motivic cohomology groups and then studying the motivic Atiyah-Hirzebruch spectral sequence. In an appendix, we slightly enlarge the class of surfaces for which Parshin's conjecture is known.

Abstract:Let $ M $ be a compact connected orientable 3-manifold and $ F $ be a compact connected orientable surface properly embedded in $ M $. If $ F $ cuts $ M $ into two handlebodies $ X $ and $ Y $ (i.e., $ M = X\cup_FY $), then we say that $ F $ is an $ H' $-splitting surface for $ M $ and call $ X\cup_FY $ an $ H' $-splitting for $ M $. When the $ H' $-splitting surface $ F $ is incompressible in a handlebody $ H $, a characteristic of an $ H' $-splitting $ H_1\cup_F H_2 $ to denote $ H $ is already known. In the present paper, we generalize the above result as follows: Let $ H $ be a handlebody of genus $ g\geq 1 $, $ X\cup_F Y $ an $ H' $-splitting for $ H $. Then, either $ X\cup_F Y $ is stabilized, or there exists a reducing system $ \mathcal{J}_1\cup\mathcal{K}_1 $ of $ F $, such that $ \mathcal{J}_1 $ is quasi-primitive in $ Y $ and $ \mathcal{K}_1 $ is quasi-primitive in $ X $. Combining the result with the known result, we obtain a characteristic of an $ H' $-splitting $ H_1\cup_F H_2 $ to denote a handlebody.

Abstract:Let $S$ and $T$ be smooth projective varieties over an algebraically closed field. Suppose that $S$ is a surface admitting a decomposition of the diagonal. We show that, away from the characteristic of $k$, if an algebraic correspondence $T \to S$ acts trivially on the unramified cohomology, then it acts trivially on any normalized, birational, and motivic functor. This generalizes Kahn's result on the torsion order of $S$. We also exhibit an example of $S$ over $\mathbb{C}$ for which $S \times S$ violates the integral Hodge conjecture.

Abstract:We show that any good moduli space $\pi : \mathcal{X} \to Y$ has a splitting after a proper, generically finite covering of $Y$. As an application we generalize Kollár's ampleness lemma to give a criterion for projectivity of a good moduli space.

Abstract:In the theory of configuration spaces, "splitting" usually refers to the phenomenon that the configuration spaces on a manifold and those on its punctured version are closely related cohomologically. We prove a splitting theorem that is equivariant and mixed-Hodge-theoretic; both are new features in such results. As an application, we determine the generating function for the mixed Hodge numbers of the unordered configuration spaces of a multi-punctured elliptic curve.

Abstract:We compute Hochschild cohomology of projective hypersurfaces starting from the Gerstenhaber-Schack complex of the (restricted) structure sheaf. We are particularly interested in the second cohomology group and its relation with deformations. We show that a projective hypersurface is smooth if and only if the classical HKR decomposition holds for this group. In general, the first Hodge component describing scheme deformations has an interesting inner structure corresponding to the various ways in which first order deformations can be realized: deforming local multiplications, deforming restriction maps, or deforming both. We make our computations precise in the case of quartic hypersurfaces, and compute explicit dimensions in many examples.

Abstract:When a reductive group $G$ acts linearly on a complex projective scheme $X$ there is a stratification of $X$ into $G$-invariant locally closed subschemes, with an open stratum $X^{ss}$ formed by the semistable points in the sense of Mumford's geometric invariant theory which has a categorical quotient $X^{ss} \to X//G$. In this article we describe a method for constructing quotients of the unstable strata. As an application, we construct moduli spaces of sheaves of fixed Harder-Narasimhan type with some extra data (an '$n$-rigidification') on a projective base.

A stable splitting of factorisation homology of generalised surfaces

Abstract:For a manifold $W$ and an $E_d$-algebra $A$, the factorisation homology $\int_W A$ can be seen as a generalisation of the classical configuration space of labelled particles in $W$. It carries an action by the diffeomorphism group $\mathrm{Diff}_\partial(W)$, and for the generalised surfaces $W_{g,1}:=(\#^g S^n\times S^n)\setminus\mathring D{}^{2n}$, we have stabilisation maps among the quotients $\int_{W_{g,1}} A\,/\!/\,\mathrm{Diff}_\partial(W_{g,1})$ which increase the genus $g$. In the case where a highly-connected tangential structure $\theta$ is taken into account, we describe its stable homology in terms of the iterated bar construction $\mathrm{B}^{2n}A$ and a tangential Thom spectrum $\mathrm{MT}\theta$. We also consider the question of homological stability.

Abstract:Abstract The mapping class group $\Gamma ^k(N_g)$ of a non-orientable surface with punctures is studied via classical homotopy theory of configuration spaces. In particular, we obtain a non-orientable version of the Birman exact sequence. In the case of ${\mathbb{R}} \textrm{P}^2$, we analyze the Serre spectral sequence of a fiber bundle $F_k({\mathbb{R}}{\textrm{P}}^{2}) / \Sigma _k \to X_k \to BSO(3)$ where $X_k$ is a $K(\Gamma ^k({\mathbb{R}} \textrm{P}^2),1)$ and $F_k({\mathbb{R}}{\textrm{P}}^{2}) / \Sigma _k$ denotes the configuration space of unordered $k$-tuples of distinct points in ${\mathbb{R}} \textrm{P}^2$. As a consequence, we express the mod-2 cohomology of $\Gamma ^k({\mathbb{R}} \textrm{P}^2)$ in terms of that of $F_k({\mathbb{R}}{\textrm{P}}^{2}) / \Sigma _k$.

Abstract:We prove a splitting formula that reconstructs the logarithmic Gromov- Witten invariants of simple normal crossing varieties from the punctured Gromov- Witten invariants of their irreducible components, under the assumption of the gluing strata being toric varieties. The formula is based on the punctured Gromov-Witten theory developed in <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2009.07720" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2009.07720">arXiv:2009.07720</a>.

Abstract:We introduce a semi-algebraic structure on the set  of all isotopy classes of non-separating simple closed curves in any compact oriented surface and show that the structure is finitely generated. As a consequence, we produce a natural finite dimensional linear representation of the mapping class group of the surface. Applications to the Teichmüller space, Thurston's measured lamination space, the harmonic Beltrami differentials, and the first cohomology groups of the surface are discussed.

Abstract:Suppose X is a smooth projective 3-fold of general type and |mK_X| is composed of a pencil of surfaces with m>1. This pencil naturally induces a fibration f:X->C onto a smooth curve C after the Stein-factorization, which is the main objects of this article. Based on Koll'ar's earlier works, we improve on it and try to understand the family in terms of discrete birational invariants of the total space as well as those of the general fiber and the base curve. The aim of this note is to build a little bit basic facts.

Abstract:Let $M$ be a complex manifold. We prove that a compact submanifold $S\subset M$ with splitting tangent sequence (called a splitting submanifold) is rational homogeneous when $M$ is in a large class of rational homogeneous spaces of Picard number one. Moreover, when $M$ is irreducible Hermitian symmetric, we prove that $S$ must be also Hermitian symmetric. The basic tool we use is the restriction and projection map $\pi$ of the global holomorphic vector fields on the ambient space which is induced from the splitting condition. The usage of global holomorphic vector fields may help us set up a new scheme to classify the splitting submanifolds in explicit examples, as an example we give a differential geometric proof for the classification of compact splitting submanifolds with $\dim\geq 2$ in a hyperquadric, which has been previously proven using algebraic geometry.

Abstract:This article studies the moduli spaces of semistable objects related to two families of Enriques categories over K3 surfaces, coming from quartic double solids and special Gushel--Mukai threefolds. In particular, classic geometric constructions are recovered in a modular way, such as the double EPW sextic and cube associated with a general Gushel--Mukai surface, and the Beauville's birational involution on the Hilbert scheme of two points on a quartic K3 surface. In addition, we describe the singular loci in some moduli spaces of semistable objects and an explicit birational involutions on an O'Grady's hyperkähler tenfold.
