Abstract:Let R be a commutative ring with identity, and let I be an ideal of R. The zero-divisor graph of R with respect to I, denoted by $\Gamma_I(R)$, is the graph whose vertices are the set $\{x \in R \setminus I | xy \in I$ for some $y \in R \setminus I\}$, where distinct vertices x and y are adjacent if and only if $xy \in I$. The cozero-divisor graph with respect to I, denoted by $\Gamma''_I(R)$, is the graph of $R$ with vertices $\{x \in R \setminus I | xR + I \neq R\}$, and two distinct vertices x and y are adjacent if and only if $x \notin yR + I$ and $y \notin xR + I$. In this paper, we introduce and investigate an undirected graph $Q\Gamma''_I(R)$ of R with vertices $\{x \in R \setminus \sqrt{I} | xR + I \neq R$ and $xR + \sqrt{I} = xR + I\}$ and two distinct vertices x and y are adjacent if and only if $x \notin yR + I$ and $y \notin xR + I$.

In this paper, we characterize all the finite non-local commutative rings whose prime ideal sum graph is of genus $2$.

Abstract:For a ring R (not necessarily commutative) with identity, let be the set of all annihilating-ideals of R . We define an undirected annihilating-ideal graph of R with the vertex set , and two distinct vertices I and J are adjacent if and only if either or . In this paper, we investigate the connectedness, diameter and girth of this graph. We prove that if R is a duo ring such that , then has n vertices if and only if R has only n nonzero proper ideals. In addition, we also characterize those rings R for which is a star graph, complete graph or complete bipartite graph.

S-J-Ideals: A Study in Commutative and Noncommutative Rings

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce the concept of S-J-ideals in both commutative and noncommutative rings. For a commutative ring R and a multiplicatively closed subset S, we show that many properties of J-ideals apply to S-J-ideals and examine their characteristics in various ring constructions, such as homomorphic image rings, quotient rings, cartesian product rings, polynomial rings, power series rings, idealization rings, and amalgamation rings. In noncommutative rings, where S is an m-system, we define right S-J-ideals. We demonstrate the equivalence of S-J-ideals and right S-J-ideals in commutative rings with identity and provide examples to illustrate the connections between right S-prime ideals and J-ideals.

The Annihilating-Ideal Graph of a Ring

Abstract:Let $S$ be a semigroup with $0$ and $R$ be a ring with $1$. We extend the definition of the zero-divisor graphs of commutative semigroups to not necessarily commutative semigroups. We define an annihilating-ideal graph of a ring as a special type of zero-divisor graph of a semigroup. We introduce two ways to define the zero-divisor graphs of semigroups. The first definition gives a directed graph ${\Gamma}(S)$, and the other definition yields an undirected graph $\overline{\Gamma}(S)$. It is shown that $\Gamma(S)$ is not necessarily connected, but $\overline{\Gamma}(S)$ is always connected and ${\rm diam}(\overline{\Gamma}(S))\leq 3$. For a ring $R$ define a directed graph $\Bbb{APOG}(R)$ to be equal to $\Gamma(\Bbb{IPO}(R))$, where $\Bbb{IPO}(R)$ is a semigroup consisting of all products of two one-sided ideals of $R$, and define an undirected graph $\overline{\Bbb{APOG}}(R)$ to be equal to $\overline{\Gamma}(\Bbb{IPO}(R))$. We show that $R$ is an Artinian (resp., Noetherian) ring if and only if $\Bbb{APOG}(R)$ has DCC (resp., ACC) on some special subset of its vertices. Also, It is shown that $\overline{\Bbb{APOG}}(R)$ is a complete graph if and only if either $(D(R))^{2}=0$, $R$ is a direct product of two division rings, or $R$ is a local ring with maximal ideal $\mathfrak{m}$ such that $\Bbb{IPO}(R)=\{0,\mathfrak{m},\mathfrak{m}^{2}, R\}$. Finally, we investigate the diameter and the girth of square matrix rings over commutative rings $M_{n\times n}(R)$ where $n\geq 2$.

Abstract:Let $R$ be a commutative ring and $I$ be an ideal of $R$. The amalgamated duplication of $R$ along $I$ is the subring $R\Join I:=\{(r,r+i)| r\in R, i\in I\}$ of $R\times R$. This paper investigates the extended zero-divisor graph of the amalgamated duplication of $R$ along $I$. The purpose of this work is to study when $\overline{\Gamma}(R\Join I)$ and $\Gamma(R\Join I)$ coincide, to characterize when $\overline{\Gamma}(R\Join I)$ is complete, and to compute the diameter and the girth of $\overline{\Gamma}(R\Join I)$.

Abstract:An ideal I of a commutative ring R is said to be irreducible if it cannot be written as the intersection of two larger ideals. A proper ideal I of a ring R is said to be strongly irreducible if for each ideals J, K of R, J\cap K\subseteq I implies that J\subset I or K\subset I. In this paper, we introduce the concepts of 2-irreducible and strongly 2-irreducible ideals which are generalizations of irreducible and strongly irreducible ideals, respectively. We say that a proper ideal I of a ring R is 2-irreducible if for each ideals J, K and L of R, I= J\cap K\cap L implies that either I=J\cap K or I=J\cap L or I=K\cap L. A proper ideal I of a ring R is called strongly 2-irreducible if for each ideals J, K and L of R, J\cap K\cap L\subseteq I implies that either J\cap K\subseteq I or J\cap L\subseteq I or K\cap L\subseteq I.

Abstract:Let R be a ring with unity. The upper ideal relation graph of the ring R is a simple undirected graph whose vertex set is the set of all non-unit elements of R and two distinct vertices x , y are adjacent if and only if there exists a non-unit element such that the ideals ( x ) and ( y ) contained in the ideal ( z ). In this article, we classify all the non-local finite commutative rings whose upper ideal relation graphs are split graphs, threshold graphs and cographs, respectively. In order to study topological properties of , we determine all the non-local finite commutative rings R whose upper ideal relation graph has genus at most 2. Further, we precisely characterize all the non-local finite commutative rings for which the crosscap of is either 1 or 2.

Abstract:In this article we introduce and study the intersection graph of graded ideals of graded rings. The intersection graph of $G-$graded ideals of a graded ring $(R,G)$ is a simple graph, denoted by $Gr_G(R)$, whose vertices are the nontrivial graded ideals and two ideals are adjacent if they are not trivially intersected. We study graphical properties for these graphs such as connectivity, regularity, completeness, domination numbers, and girth. These intersection graphs for faithful, strong, and first strong gradings are also discussed. In addition, we investigate intersection graphs of $\mathbb{Z}_2-$graded idealization, and we deal with intersection graph of graded ideals when the grading group is an ordered groups.

Abstract:Let R be a commutative ring, with A(R) its set of ideals with nonzero annihilator. In this paper and its sequel, we introduce and investigate the annihilating-ideal graph of R, denoted by AG(R). It is the (undirected) graph with vertices A(R)* ≔ A(R)\{(0)}, and two distinct vertices I and J are adjacent if and only if IJ = (0). First, we study some finiteness conditions of AG(R). For instance, it is shown that if R is not a domain, then AG(R) has ascending chain condition (respectively, descending chain condition) on vertices if and only if R is Noetherian (respectively, Artinian). Moreover, the set of vertices of AG(R) and the set of nonzero proper ideals of R have the same cardinality when R is either an Artinian or a decomposable ring. This yields for a ring R, AG(R) has n vertices (n ≥ 1) if and only if R has only n nonzero proper ideals. Next, we study the connectivity of AG(R). It is shown that AG(R) is a connected graph and diam (AG)(R) ≤ 3 and if AG(R) contains a cycle, then gr (AG(R)) ≤ 4. Also, rings R for which the graph AG(R) is complete or star, are characterized, as well as rings R for which every vertex of AG(R) is a prime (or maximal) ideal. In Part II we shall study the diameter and coloring of annihilating-ideal graphs.

Finally, we give a description of all commutative Artinian rings whose prime ideal sum graph is the complement of a line graph.

Abstract:The upper ideal relation graph $\Gamma_{U}(R)$ of a commutative ring $R$ with unity is a simple undirected graph with the set of all non-unit elements of $R$ as a vertex set and two vertices $x$, $y$ are adjacent if and only if the principal ideals $(x)$ and $(y)$ are contained in the principal ideal $(z)$ for some non-unit element $z\in R$. This manuscript characterizes all the Artinian rings $R$ such that the graph $\Gamma_{U}(R)$ is a line graph. Moreover, all the Artinian rings $R$ for which $\Gamma_{U}(R)$ is the complement of a line graph have been described.

Abstract:Let R be a commutative ring and A(R) be the set of ideals with nonzero annihilators. The annihilating-ideal graph of R is defined as the graph AG(R) with the vertex set A(R)* = A\{(0)} and two distinct vertices I and J are adjacent if and only if IJ = (0). We investigate commutative rings R whose annihilating-ideal graphs have positive genus γ(AG(R)). It is shown that if R is an Artinian ring such that γ(AG(R)) < ∞, then either R has only finitely many ideals or (R, m) is a Gorenstein ring with maximal ideal m and v.dim R/m m/m 2 = 2. Also, for any two integers g ≥ 0 and q > 0, there are only finitely many isomorphism classes of Artinian rings R satisfying the conditions: (i) γ(AG(R)) = g and (ii) |R/m| ≤ q for every maximal ideal m of R. Also, it is shown that if R is a non-domain Noetherian local ring such that γ(AG(R)) < ∞, then either R is a Gorenstein ring or R is an Artinian ring with only finitely many ideals.

Abstract:This paper studies the co-maximal graph $\Om(R)$, the induced subgraph $\G(R)$ of $\Om(R)$ whose vertex set is $R\setminus (U(R)\cup J(R))$ and a retract $\G_r(R)$ of $\G(R)$, where $R$ is a commutative ring. We show that the core of $\G(R)$ is a union of triangles and rectangles, while a vertex in $\G(R)$ is either an end vertex or a vertex in the core. For a non-local ring $R$, we prove that both the chromatic number and clique number of $\G(R)$ are identical with the number of maximal ideals of $R$. A graph $\G_r(R)$ is also introduced on the vertex set $\{Rx|\,x\in R\setminus (U(R)\cup J(R))\}$, and graph properties of $\G_r(R)$ are studied.

Abstract:We consider homogeneous binomial ideals $I=(f_1,\ldots,f_n)$ in $K[x_1, \ldots, x_n]$, where $f_i = a_i x_i^{d_i} - b_i m_i$ and $a_i \neq 0$. When such an ideal is a complete intersection, we show that the monomials which are not divisible by $x_i^{d_i}$ for $i=1,\ldots,n$ form a vector space basis for the corresponding quotient, and we describe the Macaulay dual generator in terms of a directed graph that we associate to $I$. These two properties can be seen as a natural generalization of well-known properties for monomial complete intersections. Moreover, we give a description of the radical of the resultant of $I$ in terms of the directed graph.

In this paper, the metric dimension of $PIS(R)$ is discussed and some formulae for this parameter in $PIS(R)$ are given.

Abstract:The inclusion ideal graph of a commutative unitary ring $R$ is the (undirected) graph $In(R)$ whose vertices all non-trivial ideals of $R$ and two distinct vertices are adjacent if and only if one of them is a proper subset of the other one. In this paper, the metric dimension of $In(R)$ is discussed. Moreover, the structure of the resolving graph of $In(R)$ is characterized and as an application, we compute the strong metric dimension of $In(R)$.

Abstract:Prime ideals and their generalizations are crucial in numerous research areas, particularly in commutative algebra. The concept of generalization of prime ideals begins with the study of weakly prime ideals. Since then, subsequent works aimed at expanding this concept into more generalized forms. Among these, S-prime ideals and 2-prime ideals have reaped attention recently. This paper aims to characterize S-2-prime ideals, which serve as a generalization encompassing both 2-prime ideals and S-prime ideals. To accomplish this objective, we construct an ideal which distinct from a multiplicatively closed subset with the help of commutative rings. We investigate the localization and the S-2-prime avoidance lemma in commutative rings. Furthermore, we explore the properties of this class of ideals in trivial ring extensions and amalgamated algebras along an ideal. We delve into S-properties for compactly packedness, compactly 2-packedness and coprimely packedness in trivial ring extentions. Moreover, this notion of ideals helps us to indicate that many results stated in S-prime ideals and 2-prime ideals can be readily expanded to the framework of S-2-prime ideals. Supporting examples also highlight a significant distinction between S-2-prime ideals and stated ideals.
