Abstract:In this work, we analyze the asymptotic behaviors of high-order rogue wave solutions with multiple large parameters and discover novel rogue wave patterns, including claw-like, OTR-type, TTR-type, semi-modified TTR-type, and their modified patterns. A correlation is established between these rogue wave patterns and the root structures of the Adler--Moser polynomials with multiple roots. At the positions in the $(x,t)$-plane corresponding to single roots of the Adler--Moser polynomials, these high-order rogue wave patterns asymptotically approach first-order rogue waves. At the positions in the $(x,t)$-plane corresponding to multiple roots of the Adler--Moser polynomials, these rogue wave patterns asymptotically tend toward lower-order fundamental rogue waves, dispersed first-order rogue waves, or mixed structures of these rogue waves. These structures are related to the root structures of special Adler--Moser polynomials with new free parameters, such as the Yablonskii--Vorob'ev polynomial hierarchy, among others. Notably, the positions of the fundamental lower-order rogue waves or mixed structures in these rogue wave patterns can be controlled freely under specific conditions.
Exactly Solvable and Integrable Systems
What problem does this paper attempt to address?
This paper mainly studies the connection between high-order Rogue wave solutions and Adler-Moser polynomials with multiple roots in the nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLS). Rogue waves, also known as freak waves or extreme waves, were initially described as large-amplitude water waves appearing in a short period of time in the deep sea. They are now widely applied in the fields of optical fibers, plasma physics, Bose-Einstein condensation, etc. In recent years, there has been increasing interest in the study of Rogue waves, especially in their dynamic behavior and structural classification. The paper first introduces the Darboux transformation method of the NLS equation, as well as the formula for high-order Rogue wave solutions, and discusses the multi-root structure of Adler-Moser polynomials. Then, the asymptotic behavior and pattern structure of high-order Rogue wave solutions with multiple internal parameters are analyzed, and these patterns are divided into single-root regions and multi-root regions. Within the multi-root regions, the high-order Rogue wave solutions tend to approach low-order fundamental Rogue waves, dispersed first-order Rogue waves, or the mixed structures of these waves, which are related to the root structure of special Adler-Moser polynomials such as the Yakubovsky-Voronin polynomial family. The paper also showcases Rogue wave patterns through numerical examples and provides proofs for the main results. The research method can be extended to the study of soliton wave patterns in other integrable equations. The authors found that the position of Rogue wave patterns can be freely controlled under certain conditions, which is different from the relatively fixed positions of low-order Rogue waves within the patterns in previous studies. In summary, this paper aims to explore and understand the generation and structure of complex Rogue wave patterns in the nonlinear Schrödinger equation, which is of great significance for theoretical and experimental research on Rogue wave phenomena.
