Abstract:We present a new application of multi-orbit cyclic subspace codes to construct large optical orthogonal codes, with the aid of the multiplicative structure of finite fields extensions. This approach is different from earlier approaches using combinatorial and additive (character sum) structures of finite fields. Consequently, we immediately obtain new classes of optical orthogonal codes with different parameters.
What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem this paper attempts to solve is the construction of new optical orthogonal codes (OOCs) through multi-orbit cyclic subspace codes, in order to obtain new categories of OOCs with different parameters. Specifically, the paper utilizes the multiplicative structure of finite field extensions, proposing a method different from the previous combinatorial and additive structures, thereby constructing OOCs with better parameters.
### Background
Optical orthogonal codes (OOCs) have important applications in optical code-division multiple access (OCDMA) communication systems. To improve the performance of communication systems, it is necessary to construct OOCs with larger sizes and smaller maximum correlations. Existing methods for constructing OOCs mainly rely on techniques such as projective geometry, finite field theory, design theory, and Sidon sets. However, these methods are difficult to achieve optimal or near-optimal results under certain parameters.

### Main Results
- **Theorem 3.3**: By constructing OOCs through multi-orbit cyclic subspace codes, OOCs with parameters \((q^m-1, q^k, q^{k-d/2})\) are obtained, where \(d\) is the minimum distance.
- **Proposition 4.4**: It is proven that the OOCs constructed by the method in the paper have new parameters that have not been reported in the existing literature.

### Application Prospects
The OOCs constructed by this method can be applied to OCDMA communication systems to improve system performance, especially in cases of long code lengths and small weights, achieving larger codeword sets and smaller maximum correlations.
In summary, this paper successfully constructs OOCs with new parameters by introducing a new method of multi-orbit cyclic subspace codes and multi-Sidon spaces, providing new ideas and tools for the optimization of OCDMA communication systems.
