Abstract:We extend the formula for correlation functions of free scalar field theories and Dirac field theories in terms of quantum $A_{\infty}$ algebras presented in <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2305.11634" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2305.11634">arXiv:2305.11634</a> to general scalar-Dirac systems. We obtain the result that the same formula as in the previous paper holds in this case. We show that correlation functions from our formula satisfy the Schwinger-Dyson equations. We therefore confirm that correlation functions from our formula express correlation functions from the ordinary approach of quantum field theory.

We use a description that is analogous to string field theory, and the formula for correlation functions takes the same form for both scalar fields and Dirac fields. We prove that correlation functions from our formula satisfy the Schwinger-Dyson equations in the free theory. The proof for interacting theories is presented in the companion paper <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2305.13103" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2305.13103">arXiv:2305.13103</a> by one of the authors.

Correlation functions of scalar field theories from homotopy algebras

Abstract:We present expressions for correlation functions of scalar field theories in perturbation theory using quantum $A_\infty$ algebras. Our expressions are highly explicit and can be used for theories both in Euclidean space and in Minkowski space including quantum mechanics. Correlation functions at a given order of perturbation theory can be calculated algebraically without using canonical quantization or the path integral, and we demonstrate it explicitly for $\varphi^3$ theory. We show that the Schwinger-Dyson equations are satisfied as an immediate consequence of the form of the expressions based on quantum $A_\infty$ algebras.

Abstract:The notion of conformal algebras was introduced by Victor G. Kac using the axiomatic description of the operator product expansion of chiral fields in conformal field theory. The structure theory, representations and cohomology of Lie and associative conformal algebras are extensively studied in the literature. In this paper, we first introduce $A_\infty$-conformal algebras as the homotopy analogue of associative conformal algebras, provide some equivalent descriptions and prove the homotopy transfer theorem. We characterize some $A_\infty$-conformal algebras in terms of Hochschild cohomology classes of associative conformal algebras. Next, we introduce associative conformal $2$-algebras as the categorification of associative conformal algebras. We show that the category of associative conformal $2$-algebras and the category of $2$-term $A_\infty$-conformal algebras are equivalent. Finally, we consider $L_\infty$-conformal algebras and find their relations with $A_\infty$-conformal algebras.

Abstract:We discuss general properties of $A_\infty$-algebras and their applications to the theory of open strings. The properties of cyclicity for $A_\infty$-algebras are examined in detail. We prove the decomposition theorem, which is a stronger version of the minimal model theorem, for $A_\infty$-algebras and cyclic $A_\infty$-algebras and discuss various consequences of it. In particular it is applied to classical open string field theories and it is shown that all classical open string field theories on a fixed conformal background are cyclic $A_\infty$-isomorphic to each other. The same results hold for classical closed string field theories, whose algebraic structure is governed by cyclic $L_\infty$-algebras.

Abstract:Quantum time correlation functions are often the principal objects of interest in experimental investigations of the dynamics of quantum systems. For instance, transport properties, such as diffusion and reaction rate coefficients, can be obtained by integrating these functions. The evaluation of such correlation functions entails sampling from quantum equilibrium density operators and quantum time evolution of operators. For condensed phase and complex systems, where quantum dynamics is difficult to carry out, approximations must often be made to compute these functions. We present a general scheme for the computation of correlation functions, which preserves the full quantum equilibrium structure of the system and approximates the time evolution with quantum-classical Liouville dynamics. Several aspects of the scheme are discussed, including a practical and general approach to sample the quantum equilibrium density, the properties of the quantum-classical Liouville equation in the context of correlation function computations, simulation schemes for the approximate dynamics and their interpretation and connections to other approximate quantum dynamical methods.
Holographic description for correlation functions

Abstract:We study general correlation functions of various quantum field theories in the holographic setup. Following the holographic proposal, we investigate correlation functions via a geodesic length connecting boundary operators. We show that this holographic description can reproduce the known two- and three-point functions of conformal field theory. Using this holographic method, we further study general two-point functions of a two-dimensional thermal CFT and of a scalar field theory living in a dS or AdS space. Due to the nontrivial thermal or curvature effect, the two-point functions in an IR limit show different scaling behaviors from those of the UV CFT. We study such nontrivial IR scaling behaviors by applying the holographic method.

Abstract:<h3 class="a-plus-plus">Abstract</h3> <p class="a-plus-plus">Motivated by gauge theory, we develop a general framework for chain complex-valued algebraic quantum field theories. Building upon our recent operadic approach to this subject, we show that the category of such theories carries a canonical model structure and explain the important conceptual and also practical consequences of this result. As a concrete application, we provide a derived version of Fredenhagen’s universal algebra construction, which is relevant e.g. for the BRST/BV formalism. We further develop a homotopy theoretical generalization of algebraic quantum field theory with a particular focus on the homotopy-coherent Einstein causality axiom. We provide examples of such homotopy-coherent theories via (1) smooth normalized cochain algebras on <span class="a-plus-plus inline-equation id-i-eq1"> <span class="a-plus-plus equation-source format-t-e-x">$\infty $</span> </span>-stacks, and (2) fiber-wise groupoid cohomology of a category fibered in groupoids with coefficients in a strict quantum field theory.</p>

Abstract:We derive the new identity in homotopy algebras which directly corresponds to the Schwinger-Dyson equations in quantum field theory. As an application, we derive the Ward-Takahashi identities. We demonstrate that the Ward-Takahashi identities are reproduced in several examples. In general, our formula contains divergence. We mediate this problem by introducing stubs known in the context of string field theory. With the regularization, we can calculate the anomaly such as axial U(1) anomaly in vector-like U(1) gauge theory.

We present a non-perturbative calculation of two-point correlation functions using string theory and demonstrate their consistency with those of the deformation. The two-point correlation function of the deformed theory on the plane, written in momentum space, is obtained from that of the undeformed theory by replacing h with , where h is the spacetime conformal weight, is a deformation parameter, p and are the momenta, and w labels the twisted sectors in the deformed symmetric product. At w = 1, the non-perturbative result satisfies the Callan-Symanzik equation for double-trace deformed CFT derived in [1]. We also perform conformal perturbations on both the worldsheet CFT and the symmetric orbifold CFT as a sanity check. The perturbative and non-perturbative matching between results on the two sides provides further evidence of the conjectured correspondence.

Abstract:We give a generalization of Goncharov's Hodge correlator twistor connection. Our generalized version is a connection 1-form with values in a DG Lie algebra of uni-trivalent graphs which may have loops and satisfies some Maurer--Cartan equation. This connection and the Maurer--Cartan equation can be viewed as an arithmetic analogue of effective action and quantum master equation respectively in non-acyclic Chern--Simons perturbation theory associated with the trivial local system.

Abstract:We discuss how methods developed in the context of perturbation theory can be applied to the computation of lattice correlation functions, in particular in the non perturbative regime. The techniques we consider are integration-by-parts identities (supplemented with symmetry relations) and the method of differential equations, cast in the framework of twisted co-homology. We report on calculations of correlation functions for a scalar $\lambda \phi^4$ theory and lattices of small size, both in Euclidean and Minkowskian signature.

Cohomological representations of quantum tau functions

Abstract:In 2016, Buryak and Rossi introduced the quantum Double Ramification (DR) hierarchies which associate a quantum integrable hierarchy to any Cohomological Field Theory (CohFT). Shortly after, they introduced, in collaboration with Dubrovin and Guéré, the quantum tau functions of these hierarchies. In this work, we study quantum tau functions associated to a specific solution called the topological solution. We provide two cohomological representations for the correlators of these tau functions. The first representation involves an analog in the quantum setting of the $A$-class of the DR-DZ equivalence. The second representation, valid for CohFT of low degree, involves the so-called $\Omega$-classes. Furthermore, we establish the string and dilaton equations for these tau functions, and present certain vanishing of their correlators.

Abstract:Algebraic quantum field theory and prefactorization algebra are two mathematical approaches to quantum field theory. In this monograph, using a new coend definition of the Boardman-Vogt construction of a colored operad, we define homotopy algebraic quantum field theories and homotopy prefactorization algebras and investigate their homotopy coherent structures. Homotopy coherent diagrams, homotopy inverses, A-infinity-algebras, E-infinity-algebras, and E-infinity-modules arise naturally in this context. In particular, each homotopy algebraic quantum field theory has the structure of a homotopy coherent diagram of A-infinity-algebras and satisfies a homotopy coherent version of the causality axiom. When the time-slice axiom is defined for algebraic quantum field theory, a homotopy coherent version of the time-slice axiom is satisfied by each homotopy algebraic quantum field theory. Over each topological space, every homotopy prefactorization algebra has the structure of a homotopy coherent diagram of E-infinity-modules over an E-infinity-algebra. To compare the two approaches, we construct a comparison morphism from the colored operad for (homotopy) prefactorization algebras to the colored operad for (homotopy) algebraic quantum field theories and study the induced adjunctions on algebras.

Abstract:This paper studies the homotopy theory of algebras and homotopy algebras over an operad. It provides an exhaustive description of their higher homotopical properties using the more general notion of morphisms called infinity-morphisms. The method consists in using the operadic calculus to endow the category of coalgebras over the Koszul dual cooperad or the bar construction with a new type of model category structure, Quillen equivalent to that of algebras. We provide an explicit homotopy equivalence for infinity-morphisms, which gives a simple description of the homotopy category, and we endow the category of homotopy algebras with an infinity-category structure.

Exact Spin Correlators of Integrable Quantum Circuits from Algebraic Geometry

Abstract:We calculate the correlation functions of strings of spin operators for integrable quantum circuits exactly. These observables can be used for calibration of quantum simulation platforms. We use algebraic Bethe Ansatz, in combination with computational algebraic geometry to obtain analytic results for medium-size (around 10-20 qubits) quantum circuits. The results are rational functions of the quantum circuit parameters. We obtain analytic results for such correlation functions both in the real space and Fourier space. In the real space, we analyze the short time and long time limit of the correlation functions. In Fourier space, we obtain analytic results in different parameter regimes, which exhibit qualitatively different behaviors. Using these analytic results, one can easily generate numerical data to arbitrary precision.
