On the characterization of Riemannian warped product Einstein metrics

Abstract:We present a series of results, including local characterizations of $(\lambda,m+n)$-Einstein metrics in the context of warped product Einstein spaces. Using these local properties, we restate already known global characterizations of $(\lambda,m+n)$-Einstein manifolds from He, Petersen and Wylie.

Abstract:In this article we study homogeneous warped product Einstein metrics and its connections with homogeneous Ricci solitons. We show that homogeneous $(\lambda,n+m)$-Einstein manifolds (which are the bases of homogeneous warped product Einstein metrics) are one-dimensional extensions of algebraic solitons. This answers a question from a paper of C. He, P. Petersen and W. Wylie, where they prove the converse statement. Our proof is strongly based on their results, but it also makes use of sharp tools from the theory of homogeneous Ricci solitons. As an application, we obtain that any homogeneous warped product Einstein metric with homogeneous base is diffeomorphic to a product of homogeneous Einstein manifolds.

Abstract:We briefly survey our recent results about the Mumford goodness of several canonical metrics on the moduli spaces of Riemann surfaces, including the Weil-Petersson metric, the Ricci metric, the Perturbed Ricci metric and the Kahler-Einstein metric. We prove the dual Nakano negativity of the Weil-Petersson metric. As applications of these results we deduce certain important results about the L 2 -cohomology groups of the logarithmic tangent bundle over the compactified moduli spaces.

Abstract:In this paper we describe some recent results on the geometry of the moduli space of Riemann surfaces. We surveyed new and classical metrics on the moduli spaces of hyperbolic Riemann surfaces and their geometric properties. We then discussed the Mumford goodness and generalized goodness of various metrics on the moduli spaces and their deformation invariance. By combining with the dual Nakano negativity of the Weil-Petersson metric we derive various consequences such that the infinitesimal rigidity, the Gauss-Bonnet theorem and the log Chern number computations.

Abstract:This article investigates the geometric and topologic of warped product submanifolds in Riemannian warped product Q ε m × R . In this respect, we obtain the first Chen inequality that involves extrinsic invariants like the length of the warping functions and the mean curvature. This inequality involves two intrinsic invariants (sectional curvature and δ -invariant). In addition, an integral bound is provided for the Bochner operator formula of compact warped product submanifolds in terms of the Ricci curvature gradient. We aim to apply this theory to many structures and obtain Dirichlet eigenvalues for problem applications. Some new results regarding the vanishing mean curvature are presented as a partial solution, and this can be considered for the well-known problem given by Chern.

Gradient Einstein-type warped products: rigidity, existence and nonexistence results via a nonlinear PDE

Abstract:We establish the necessary and sufficient conditions for constructing gradient Einstein-type warped metrics. One of these conditions leads us to a general Lichnerowicz equation with analytic and geometric coefficients for this class of metrics on the space of warping functions. In this way, we prove gradient estimates for positive solutions of a nonlinear elliptic differential equation on a complete Riemannian manifold with associated Bakry-Émery Ricci tensor bounded from below. As an application, we provide nonexistence and rigidity results for a large class of gradient Einstein-type warped metrics. Furthermore, we show how to construct gradient Einstein-type warped metrics, and then we give explicit examples which are not only meaningful in their own right, but also help to justify our results.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the doubly warped product manifolds with semisymmetric metric connection. We derive the curvatures formulas for doubly warped product manifold with semi-symmetric metric connection in terms of curvatures of components of doubly warped product manifolds. We also prove the necessary and sufficient condition for a doubly warped product manifold to be a warped product manifold. We obtain some results for Einstein doubly warped product manifold and Einstein-like doubly warped product manifold of class A with respect to a semi-symmetric metric connection.

Abstract:A. Gray presented an interesting $O\left( n\right) $ invariant decomposition of the covariant derivative of the Ricci tensor. Manifolds whose Ricci tensor satisfies the defining property of each orthogonal class are called Einstein-like manifolds. In the present paper, we answered the following question: Under what condition(s), does a factor manifold $M_{i},i=1,2$ of a doubly warped product manifold $M=_{f_{2}}M_{1}\times _{f_{1}}M_{2}$ lie in the same Einstein-like class of $M$? By imposing sufficient and necessary conditions on the warping functions, an inheritance property of each class is proved. As an application, Einstein-like doubly warped product space-times of type $\mathcal{A},$ $\mathcal{B}$ or $\mathcal{P}$ are considered.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce Riemannian warped product map as a generalization of warped product isometric immersion and Riemannian warped product submersion with examples and obtain some characterizations. First, we define Riemannian warped product map and find conditions for a Riemannian map to be Riemannian warped product map. We show that Riemannian warped product map is a composition of Riemannian warped product submersion followed by warped product isometric immersion locally. In addition, we show that Riemannian warped product map satisfies the generalized eikonal equation which is a well known bridge between geometrical and physical optics. We also find necessary and sufficient conditions for the fibers, range space of the derivative map of Riemannian warped product map and horizontal distributions to be totally geodesic and minimal. Further, we give some fundamental geometric properties for the study of such smooth maps. Precisely, we construct Gauss formula (second fundamental form), Weingarten formula and tension field. We obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for a Riemannian warped product map to be totally geodesic, harmonic and umbilical. Comparatively, we analyse the obtained results with the existing results for a Riemannian map between Riemannian manifolds.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce the concepts of Riemannian warped-twisted product submersions and examine their fundamental properties, including total geodesicity, total umbilicity and minimality. Additionally, we investigate the Ricci tensor of Riemannian warped-twisted product submersions, specifically about the horizontal and vertical distributions. Finally, we obtain Einstein condition for base manifold if the horizontal and vertical distributions of the ambient manifold is Einstein.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the quasi-Einstein and generalized quasi-Einstein warped products with a semi-symmetric non-metric connection. We give the expressions of the Ricci tensors and scalar curvatures for the bases and fibres. In some cases we give some obstructions to the existence of the quasi-Einstein and generalized quasi-Einstein warped products with a semi-symmetric non-metric connection.

Abstract:We study the geometric structure of weighted Einstein smooth metric measure spaces with weighted harmonic Weyl tensor. A complete local classification is provided, showing that either the underlying manifold is Einstein, or decomposes as a warped products in a specific way. Moreover, if the manifold is complete, then it either is a weighted analogue of a space form, or it belongs to a particular family of Einstein warped products.

Abstract:In this work, we consider a class of Finsler metrics using the warped product notion introduced by Chen, S. and Zhao (2018), with another "warping", one that is consistent with static spacetimes. We will give the PDE characterization for the proposed metrics to be Ricci-flat and explicitly construct two non-Riemannian examples.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the closed embedded hypersurface Sigma in the warped product manifold M = [0, (r) over bar) x N equipped with the metric g = dr(2) +lambda(r)(2)gN. We give some characterizations of slice {r} x N by the condition that Sigma has constant weighted higher-order mean curvatures (lambda ')(alpha)p(k), or constant weighted higher-order mean curvature ratio (lambda ')(alpha)p(k)/p(1), which generalize Brendle's [Constant mean curvature surfaces in warped product manifolds, Publ. Math. Inst. Hautes Etudes Sci. 117 (2013) 247-269] and Brendle-Eichmair's [Isoperimetric and Weingarten surfaces in the Schwarzschild manifold, J. Differential Geom. 94(3) (2013) 387-407] results. In particular, we show that the assumption convex of Brendle-Eichmair's result [Isoperimetric and Weingarten surfaces in the Schwarzschild manifold, J. Differential Geom. 94(3) (2013) 387-407] is unnecessary. Here p(k) is the kth normalized mean curvature of the hypersurface S. As a special case, we also give some characterizations of geodesic spheres in R-n, H-n and S-+(n), which generalize the classical Alexandrov-type results.

Abstract:In this work we deal with an elliptic non-linear problem, which arises naturally from Riemannian geometry. This problem has clasically been studied in the the Euclidean $n$-dimensional space and it is known as the Moser-Bernstein problem. Nevertheless we solve this type of problems in a wide family of Riemannian manifolds, constructed as Riemannian warped products. More precicely, we study the entire solutions to the minimal hypersurface equation in a Riemannian warped product $M=P\times_h\mathbb{R}$, where $P$ is a complete Riemannian parabolic manifold and $h$ a positive smooth function on $P$.

Abstract:One of the fundamental problems in Finsler geometry is to study Finsler metrics of constant (or scalar) curvature. In this paper, we refine and improve Chen-Shen-Zhao equations characterizing Finsler warped product metrics of scalar flag curvature. In particular, we find equations that characterize Finsler warped product metrics of constant flag curvature. Then we improve the Chen-Shen-Zhao result on characterizing Einstein Finsler warped product metrics. As its application we construct explicitly many new warped product Douglas metrics of constant Ricci curvature by using known locally projectively flat spherically symmetric metrics of constant flag curvature.

Abstract:We consider the closed orientable hypersurfaces in a wide class of warped product manifolds, which include space forms, deSitter-Schwarzschild and Reissner-Nordström manifolds. By using an integral formula or Brendle's Heintze-Karcher type inequality, we present some new characterizations of umbilic hypersurfaces. These results can be viewed as generalizations of the classical Jellet-Liebmann theorem and the Alexandrov theorem in Euclidean space.
Warped geometries of Segre-Veronese manifolds

Abstract:Segre-Veronese manifolds are smooth manifolds consisting of partially symmetric rank-$1$ tensors. They are naturally viewed as submanifolds of a Euclidean space of tensors. However, they can also be equipped with other metrics than their induced metrics, such as warped product metrics. We investigate a one-parameter family of warped geometries, which includes the standard Euclidean geometry, and whose parameter controls by how much spherical tangent directions are weighted relative to radial tangent directions. We compute the exponential and logarithmic maps of these warped Segre-Veronese manifolds, including the corresponding starting and connecting geodesics. A closed formula for the intrinsic distance between points on the warped Segre-Veronese manifold is presented. We determine for which warping parameters Segre-Veronese manifolds are geodesically connected and show that they are not geodesically connected in the standard Euclidean geometry. The benefits of connecting geodesics may outweigh using the Euclidean geometry in certain applications. One such application is presented: numerically computing the Riemannian center of mass for averaging rank-$1$ tensors.

Abstract:This paper introduces the concept of Riemannian doubly warped product submersions as a natural generalization of Riemannian warped product submersions. We study some fundamental properties of such submersions and derived the conditions under which the Riemannian doubly warped product submersions has totally geodesic, totally umbilical, and minimal fibers. Furthermore, we analyze the curvature prop- erties associated with Riemannian doubly warped product submersions and establish the Einstein conditions. Some non-trivial examples are explored to demonstrate the existence of such submersions.
