Abstract:We introduce stratified toposes, which are toposes that are stratified by a suitable hierarchy of universes. The term `stratified topos' recalls the notion of stratified pseudotopos of Moerdijk and Palmgren (2002). However, the details of our proposal are closer to that of Streicher (2005), with the foundational contribution being a strengthening of Streicher's axioms. As such, stratified toposes model the calculus of constructions. Key results about toposes can be refined to yield results about stratified toposes. As proof of concept, we construct what we call the stratified topos of coalgebras for a stratified Cartesian comonad on a stratified topos. This construction refines that of the topos of coalgebras for a Cartesian comonad on a topos. Coalgebra constructions in related settings were given by Warren (2007) and Zwanziger (2023). This coalgebra construction exposes conditions under which generic monomorphisms and dense subcategories can be lifted to coalgebras, which are extracted in the appendix.

Abstract:We study the problem of whether a coalgebra that generates its category of left (right) comodules is left (right) quasi-coFrobenius or not. We prove it does not hold in general, by giving a method of constructing counterexamples. This gives a negative answer to a question stated in \cite{kn:coalgen}. We also prove it is true for monomial pointed coalgebras and we characterize the quivers $Q$ such that $\Bbbk Q$ admits a monomial subcoalgebra that is left (right) quasi-coFrobenius.

Generalized Path Coalgebra And Its Application To Dual Gabriel Theorem

Abstract:As the duality of generalized path algebra (see [4]), we firstly introduce the concept of generalized path coalgebra through assigning a k-coalgebra to each vertex of a given quiver. Some elementary properties of generalized path coalgebras are given. Moreover, we discuss the isomorphism problem. It is shown that two generalized path coalgebras are isomorphic with each other if and only if their quivers are isomorphic with certain condition. For a coalgebra with CodimC0 ≤ 1, the Wedderburn-Malcev Theorem are given, that is, there exists a coalgebra projection of C onto C0. It is a generalization of the Wedderburn-Malcev Theorem on coalgebras with separable coradicals. As an important application of generalized path coalgebras, the Dual Gabriel Theorem on a pointed coalgebra is generalized to a coalgebra with some conditions, in particular, with separable coradical, so as to embedding such coalgebra into a generalized path coalgebra from the quiver of the cotensor coalgebra of the coalgebra. Lastly, we discuss the uniqueness of the quiver of the cotensor coalgebra under the meaning of embedding. And, it is shown that the quiver is a wide subquiver of another quiver defined by Montgomery[11].
Cyclic homology of categorical coalgebras and the free loop space

Abstract:We prove that the cyclic chain complex of the categorical coalgebra of singular chains on an arbitrary topological space $X$ is naturally quasi-isomorphic to the $S^1$-equivariant chains of the free loop space of $X$. This statement does not require any hypotheses on $X$ or on the commutative ring of coefficients. Along the way, we introduce a family of polytopes, coined as Goodwillie polytopes, that controls the combinatorics behind the relationship of the coHochschild complex of a categorical coalgebra and the Hochschild complex of its associated differential graded category.

Categorified Open Topological Field Theories

Abstract:In this short note, we classify linear categorified open topological field theories in dimension two by pivotal Grothendieck-Verdier categories. In combination with recently developed string-net techniques, this leads to a new description of the spaces of conformal blocks of Drinfeld centers $Z(\mathcal{C})$ of pivotal finite tensor categories $\mathcal{C}$ in terms of the modular envelope of the cyclic associative operad. If $\mathcal{C}$ is unimodular, we prove that the space of conformal blocks inherits the structure of a module over the algebra of class functions of $\mathcal{C}$ for every free boundary component. As a further application, we prove that the sewing along a boundary circle for the modular functor for $Z(\mathcal{C})$ can be decomposed into a sewing procedure along an interval and the application of the partial trace. Finally, we construct mapping class group representations from Grothendieck-Verdier categories that are not necessarily rigid and make precise how these generalize existing constructions.

Abstract:We describe the category of homotopy coalgebras, concentrating on properties of relatively cofree homotopy coalgebras, morphisms and coderivations from an ordinary coalgebra to a relatively cofree homotopy coalgebra, morphisms and coderivations between coalgebras of latter type. Cobar- and bar-constructions between counit-complemented curved coalgebras, unit-complemented curved algebras and curved homotopy coalgebras are described. Using twisting cochains an adjunction between cobar- and bar-constructions is derived under additional assumptions.

Abstract:We develop a generalised gauge theory in which the role of gauge group is played by a coalgebra and the role of principal bundle by an algebra. The theory provides a unifying point of view which includes quantum group gauge theory, embeddable quantum homogeneous spaces and braided group gauge theory, the latter being introduced now by these means. Examples include ones in which the gauge groups are the braided line and the quantum plane.

Abstract:We construct a monoidal model structure on the category of all curved coalgebras and show that it is Quillen equivalent, via the extended bar-cobar adjunction, to another model structure we construct on the category of curved algebras. When the coalgebras under consideration are conilpotent and the algebras are dg, i.e. uncurved, this corresponds to the ordinary dg Koszul duality of Positselski and Keller-Lefèvre. As an application we construct global noncommutative moduli spaces for flat connections on vector bundles, holomorphic structures on almost complex vector bundles, dg modules over a dg algebra, objects in a dg category, and others.

On topological groupoids that represent theories

Abstract:Grothendieck toposes, and by extension, logical theories, can be represented by topological structures. Butz and Moerdijk showed that every topos with enough points can be represented as the topos of sheaves on an open topological groupoid. This paper tackles a follow-up question: we characterise, in model-theoretic terms, which open topological groupoids can represent the classifying topos of a theory. Intuitively, this characterises which groupoids of models contain enough information to reconstruct the theory. Our treatment subsumes many of the previous approaches found in the literature, such as that of Awodey, Forssell, Butz and Moerdijk.

Abstract:We suggest that in the framework of the Category Theory it is possible to demonstrate the mathematical and logical dual equivalence between the category of the q-deformed Hopf Coalgebras and the category of the q-deformed Hopf Algebras in quantum field theory (QFT), interpreted as a thermal field theory. Each pair algebra-coalgebra characterizes a QFT system and its mirroring thermal bath, respectively, so to model dissipative quantum systems in far-from-equilibrium conditions, with an evident significance also for biological sciences. Our study is in fact inspired by applications to neuroscience where the brain memory capacity, for instance, has been modeled by using the QFT unitarily inequivalent representations. The q-deformed Hopf Coalgebras and the q-deformed Hopf Algebras constitute two dual categories because characterized by the same functor T, related with the Bogoliubov transform, and by its contravariant application T<sup>op</sup>, respectively. The q-deformation parameter is related to the Bogoliubov angle, and it is effectively a thermal parameter. Therefore, the different values of q identify univocally, and label the vacua appearing in the foliation process of the quantum vacuum. This means that, in the framework of Universal Coalgebra, as general theory of dynamic and computing systems ("labelled state-transition systems"), the so labelled infinitely many quantum vacua can be interpreted as the Final Coalgebra of an "Infinite State Black-Box Machine". All this opens the way to the possibility of designing a new class of universal quantum computing architectures based on this coalgebraic QFT formulation, as its ability of naturally generating a Fibonacci progression demonstrates.

Abstract:Ocneanu's tube algebra provides a finite algorithm to compute the Drinfeld center of a fusion category. In this work we reveal the universal property underlying the tube algebra. Take a base category $\mathcal V$ which is concrete, bicomplete, and symmetric closed monoidal. For physical applications one takes $\mathcal V=\mathbf{Vec}$ the category of vector spaces. Given a $\mathcal V$-enriched monoidal category $\mathcal C$ (not necessarily finite or semisimple) we define the tube category $\mathbb X \mathcal C$ using coends valued in $\mathcal V$. Our main theorem established the relation between (the category of representations of) the tube category $\mathbb X \mathcal C$ and the Drinfeld center $Z(\mathcal C)$: When $\mathcal C$ is pivotal, we prove that $Z(\mathcal C)\hookrightarrow \mathrm{Fun}(\mathbb X \mathcal C^{\mathrm{op}},\mathcal V)\cong Z(\mathrm{Fun}(\mathcal C^{\mathrm{op}},\mathcal V))$. Physically, besides viewing the tube category as a version of TFT with domain being the tube, we emphasize the "Wick-rotated" perspective, that the morphisms in $\mathbb X \mathcal C$ are the local tensors of fixed-point matrix product operators which preserves the symmetry $\mathcal C$ in one spatial dimension. We provide a first-principle flavored construction, from microscopic quantum degrees of freedom and operators perserving the symmetry, to the macroscopic universal properties of the symmetry which form the Drinfeld center. Our work is thus a proof to the 1+1D topological holography in a very general setting.

Grothendieck topology of $C^*$-algebras

Abstract:For any topological space there is a sheaf cohomology. A Grothendieck topology is a generalization of the classical topology such that it also possesses a sheaf cohomology. On the other hand any noncommutative $C^*$-algebra is a generalization of a locally compact Hausdorff space. Here we define a Grothendieck topology arising from $C^*$-algebras which is a generalization of the topology of the spectra of commutative $C^*$-algebras. This construction yields a noncommutative generalization of the sheaf cohomology of topological spaces. The presented here theory gives a unified approach to the Gelfand duality and the duality between the commutative von Neumann algebras and measure locales. The generalization of the Dixmier-Douady theory concerning $C^*$-algebras of foliations is also discussed.

Abstract:We investigate cases where the finite dual coalgebra of a twisted tensor product of two algebras is a crossed product coalgebra of their respective finite duals. This is achieved by interpreting the finite dual as a topological dual; in order to prove this, we show that the continuous dual is a strong monoidal functor on linearly topologized vector spaces whose open subspaces have finite codimension. We describe a sufficient condition for the result on finite dual coalgebras to be applied, and we this condition to particular constructions including Ore extensions, smash product algebras, and crossed product bialgebras.
An algebraic model for the free loop space

Abstract:We describe an algebraic chain level construction that models the passage from an arbitrary topological space to its free loop space. The input of the construction is a categorical coalgebra, i.e. a curved coalgebra satisfying certain properties, and the output is a chain complex. The construction is a modified version of the coHochschild complex of a differential graded (dg) coalgebra. When applied to the chains on an arbitrary simplicial set $X$, appropriately interpreted, it yields a chain complex that is naturally quasi-isomorphic to the singular chains on the free loop space of the geometric realization of $X$. We relate this construction to a twisted tensor product model for the free loop space constructed using the adjoint action of a dg Hopf algebra model for the based loop space.

Abstract:We study module like objects over categorical quotients of algebras by the action of coalgebras with several objects. These take the form of ``entwined comodules'' and ``entwined contramodules'' over a triple $(\mathscr C,A,\psi)$, where $A$ is an algebra, $\mathscr C$ is a coalgebra with several objects and $\psi$ is a collection of maps that ``entwines'' $\mathscr C$ with $A$. Our objective is to prove Frobenius, separability and Maschke type theorems for functors between categories of entwined comodules and entwined contramodules.

From Yoneda to Topoi morphisms

Abstract:In this note we show how two fundamental results in Topos theory follow by repeated use of Yoneda's Lemma, the formalism of natural transformations and very basic category theory. In Lemma 9.4, we show the fundamental result SGA4 EXPOSE IV Proposition 4.9.4, which says that for any site $\cc{C}$, the canonical functor $\cc{C} \mr{\varepsilon} Sh(\cc{C})$ into the category of sheaves, classifies sites morphisms $\cc{C} \mr{} \cc{Z}$ into any topos $\cc{Z}$. After the usual Yoneda's Lemma, Lemma 3.1, we show that the Yoneda functor $\cc{C} \mr{h} \Eop{C}$ classifies functors $\cc{C} \mr{} \cc{Z}$ into any cocomplete category $\cc{Z}$, via a cocontinuos extension $\Eop{C} \mr{} \cc{Z}$, Lemma 5.2. Then we reach Lemma 9.4 by an step by step enrichment of 5.2. All we use is Yoneda's Lemma, over and over again, and the Yoga of natural transformations. In Lemma 10.1 we show the equivalence between \emph{flatness} and \emph{left exactness} for functors from finitely complete categories into any topos. Our proof is elementary, we show how basic exactness properties of sets prove the result for set valued functors, then we generalize to functors valued in any topos utilizing results of the previous sections and the Yoga of natural transformations. Besides the thread we follow,nothing here is new, although we haven't seen 10.1 proved this way before.

Srinivasan demonstrated that when the space under consideration is an absolute neighborhood retract, its category can be realized through arbitrary subsets, not necessarily open ones. The primary aim of this survey is to illustrate how this result has been extended to the case of topological complexity and its monoidal version, along with some of its most significant implications.

Abstract:Quantum categories have been recently studied because of their relation to bialgebroids, small categories, and skew monoidales. This is the first of a series of papers based on the author's PhD thesis in which we examine the theory of quantum categories developed by Day, Lack, and Street. A quantum category is an opmonoidal monad on the monoidale associated to a biduality $R\dashv R^{\circ}$, or enveloping monoidale, in a monoidal bicategory of modules $\mathsf{Mod}(\mathcal{V})$ for a monoidal category $\mathcal{V}$. Lack and Street proved that quantum categories are in equivalence with right skew monoidales whose unit has a right adjoint in $\mathsf{Mod}(\mathcal{V})$. Our first important result is similar to that of Lack and Street. It is a characterisation of opmonoidal \emph{arrows} on enveloping monoidales in terms of a new structure named \emph{oplax action}. We then provide three different notions of comodule for an opmonoidal arrow, and using a similar technique we prove that they are equivalent. Finally, when the opmonoidal arrow is an opmonoidal monad, we are able to provide the category of comodules for a quantum category with a monoidal structure such that the forgetful functor is monoidal.

Remarks on cotorsion theories

Abstract:We present some results from classical homological algebra using the language of cotorsion theories in abelian categories. The results are a couple of foundational facts about homological dimension, the Kunneth formula and the universal coefficients formula.
