Abstract:For a continuous field of the Cuntz algebra over a finite CW complex, we introduce a topological invariant, which is an element in Dadarlat-Pennig's generalized cohomology group, and prove that the invariant is trivial if and only if the field comes from a vector bundle via Pimsner's construction.

Abstract:This paper explores affine Weyl groups and their associated Hecke algebras, concentrating on the Poincaré series with coefficients in Hecke algebra. We investigate its relationship with zeta functions on complexes and extend existing research on geodesic tubes to encompass higher dimensions. Our main findings confirm a conjecture that elucidates the connection between the Poincaré series and geodesic tubes. Additionally, we provide partial evidence for another conjecture related to the zeta identity for simply connected groups. These contributions deepen our understanding of the interactions among algebraic groups, Hecke algebras, and the geometry of related complexes.

Abstract:For differential operators of Calabi-Yau type, Candelas, de la Ossa and van Straten conjecture the appearance of $p$-adic zeta values in the matrix entries of their $p$-adic Frobenius structure expressed in the standard basis of solutions near a MUM-point. We prove that this phenomenon holds for simplicial and hyperoctahedral families of Calabi-Yau hypersurfaces in $n$ dimensions, in which case the Frobenius matrix entries are rational linear combinations of products of $\zeta_p(k)$ with $1 < k < n$.

A Cuntz-Krieger Uniqueness Theorem for Cuntz-Pimsner Algebras

Abstract:We introduce a property of C*-correspondences, which we call Condition (S), to serve as an analogue of Condition (L) of graphs. We use Condition (S) to prove a Cuntz-Krieger Uniqueness Theorem for Cuntz-Pimsner algebras and obtain sufficient conditions for simplicity of Cuntz-Pimsner algebras. We also prove that if Q is a topological quiver with no sinks and X(Q) is the associated C*-correspondence, then X(Q) satisfies Condition (S) if and only if Q satisfies Condition(L). Finally, we consider several examples to compare and contrast Condition (S) with Schweizer's nonperiodic condition.

Cuntz--Pimsner algebras of partial automorphisms twisted by vector bundles I: Fixed point algebra, simplicity and the tracial state space

Abstract:We associate a $C^*$-algebra to a partial action of the integers acting on the base space of a vector bundle, using the framework of Cuntz--Pimsner algebras. We investigate the structure of the fixed point algebra under the canonical gauge action, and show that it arises from a continuous field of $C^*$-algebras over the base space, generalising results of Vasselli. We also analyse the ideal structure, and show that for a free action, ideals correspond to open invariant subspaces of the base space. This shows that if the action is free and minimal, then the Cuntz--Pimsner algebra is simple. Finally we establish a bijective corrrespondence between tracial states and invariant measures on the base space, thereby calculating part of the Elliott invariant. This generalizes results about the $C^*$-algebras associated to homeomorphisms twisted by vector bundles of Adamo, Archey, Forough, Georgescu, Jeong, Strung and Viola.

Arakelov geometry of Cuntz-Pimsner algebras

Abstract:We use $K$-theory of the $C^*$-algebras to study the Arakelov geometry, i.e. a compactification of the arithmetic schemes $V\to Spec ~\mathbf{Z}$. In particular, it is proved that the Picard group of $V$ is isomorphic to the $K_0$-group of a Cuntz-Pimsner algebra associated to $V$. We apply the result to the finiteness problem for the algebraic varieties over number fields.

Exactness of the Cuntz-Pimsner Construction

Abstract:In prior work we described how the Cuntz-Pimsner construction may be viewed as a functor. The domain of this functor is a category whose objects are $C^*$-correspondences and morphisms are isomorphism classes of certain pairs comprised of a $C^*$-correspondence and an isomorphism. The codomain is the well-studied category whose objects are $C^*$-algebras and morphisms are isomorphism classes of $C^*$-correspondences. In this paper we show that certain fundamental results in the theory of Cuntz-Pimsner algebras are direct consequences of the functoriality of the Cuntz-Pimsner construction. In addition, we describe exact sequences in the target and domain categories, and prove that the Cuntz-Pimsner functor is exact.

Abstract:We extend the definition of an extension of a right Hilbert module to the setting of Hilbert bimodules and show that an extension of Hilbert bimodules induces an extension of Cuntz-Pimsner algebras. We also study the Cuntz-Pimsner algebra associated to the multiplier bimodule and show that an extension can be realised as a restricted direct-sum bimodule.

Abstract:In this note, for each odd prime $p$, we show that the orders of the $KU$-local homotopy groups of the mod $p$ Moore spectrum are equal to denominators of special values of certain quotients of Dedekind zeta-functions of totally real number fields. With this observation in hand, we give a cute topological proof of the Leopoldt conjecture for those number fields, by showing that it is a consequence of periodicity properties of $KU$-local stable homotopy groups.

Abstract:By constructing new quasimap compactifications of Hurwitz spaces of degrees 4 and 5, we establish a new connection between arithmetic statistics, quantum algebra, and geometry and answer a question of Ellenberg-Tran-Westerland and Kapranov-Schechtman. It follows from the geometry of our compactifications and a comparison theorem of Kapranov-Schechtman that we can precisely relate the following 3 quantities: (1) counts of $\mathbb{F}_q[t]$-algebras of degrees 3, 4, and 5 (2) the ``invariant'' part of the cohomology of certain special Nichols algebras (3) Igusa local zeta functions for certain prehomogeneous vector spaces. Using Igusa's computation of the zeta function for the space of pairs of ternary quadratic forms, we compute the number of quartic $\mathbb{F}_q[t]$-algebras with cubic resolvent of discriminant $q^b$ and the part of the cohomology of a 576-dimensional Nichols algebra $\mathfrak{B}_4$ invariant under a natural $\mathbf{S}_4$-action. From the comparison for degree 3, we also obtain two answers to Venkatesh's question about the topological origin of the secondary term in the count of cubic fields.

Abstract:Given a correspondence X over a C*-algebra A, we construct a C*-algebra and a Hilbert C*-bimodule over it whose crossed product is isomorphic to the augmented Cuntz-Pimsner C*-algebra of X. This construction enables us to establish a condition for two augmented Cuntz-Pimsner C*-algebras to be Morita equivalent.

Abstract:Topological field theories and holomorphic field theories naturally appear in both mathematics and physics. However, there exist intriguing hybrid theories that are topological in some directions and holomorphic in others, such as twists of supersymmetric field theories or Costello's 4-dimensional Chern-Simons theory. In this paper, we rigorously prove the ultraviolet (UV) finiteness for such hybrid theories on flat space, and present two significant vanishing results regarding anomalies.

Abstract:We study dynamics of the Lattès maps in the complex plane in terms of the Cuntz-Krieger algebras associated to the endomorphisms of the non-commutative tori. In particular, it is shown that iterations of the Lattès maps can be reduced to the dynamics of the subshifts of finite type. Using such a reduction, we calculate the zeta function of the Lattès maps.

Abstract:In this paper we study the zeta functions associated to the minimal spherical principal series of representations for a class of reductive p-adic symmetric spaces, which are realized as open orbits of some prehomogeneous spaces. These symmetric spaces have been studied in the paper arXiv: <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2003.05764" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2003.05764">2003.05764</a>. We prove that the zeta functions satisfy a functional equation which is given explicitly (see Theorem 4.3.9 and Theorem 4.4.5). Moreover, for a subclass of these spaces, we define L-functions and epsilon-factors associated to the representations.

Abstract:During the last several years, Artin, Jorgensen, Stafford, Yekutieli, and others have generalized many homological results from the commutative case to the noncommutative connected graded case [AZ, SZ1, Jo1, Jo2, Ye]. In this paper we generalize some of those to the noncommutative local case. Our main interest is on noetherian local PI (polynomial identity) algebras, though some results hold in a more general setting. Throughout A is an algebra over a base field k, I is its Jacobson radical, and A0 = A/I. If A0 is artinian, A is called semilocal. If A0 is a simple artinian algebra (respectively, a division algebra), then A is called local (respectively, scalar local). Unless otherwise stated we are working with left modules and sometimes we use the term Aop-module for a right A-module where Aop is the opposite ring of A. A finite A-module means finitely generated over A. We use noetherian (respectively, artinian) for two-sided noetherian (respectively, two-sided artinian).

Abstract:In this note we further explore the properties of universal enveloping algebras associated to a post-Lie algebra. Emphasizing the role of the Magnus expansion, we analyze the properties of group like-elements belonging to (suitable completions) of those Hopf algebras. Of particular interest is the case of post-Lie algebras defined in terms of solutions of modified classical Yang-Baxter equations. In this setting we will study factorization properties of the aforementioned group-like elements.

Abstract:We characterize Cuntz-Nica-Pimsner algebras for compactly aligned product systems over quasi-lattice ordered groupoids. We show that the full cross sectional $C^*$-algebras of Fell bundles of Morita equivalence bimodules are isomorphic to the related Cuntz-Nica-Pimsner algebras under certain conditions.

Abstract:We prove cocontinuity of the $\max$-tensor product of C*-categories and develop a framework to perform factorization homology in a C*-setting. In such context, we specialize some results of D. Ben-Zvi, A. Brochier and D. Jordan. As a consequence of our constructions, we realize quantum Hamiltonian reduction in terms of bimodules over a factor $N$. We also provide a GNS-type reconstruction theorem for C*-algebra objects of in categories of bimodules over a II_1-factor, enhancing a realization theorem due to C. Jones and D. Penneys.
