Abstract:This paper studies heat equations with inner absorptions and coupled boundary fluxes of mixed-type nonlinearities. At first, the critical exponent is obtained, and simply described via a characteristic algebraic system introduced by us. Then, as the main results of the paper, three blow-up rates are established under different dominations of nonlinearities for the one-dimensional case, and represented in another characteristic algebraic system. In particular, it is observed that unlike those in previous literature on parabolic models with absorptions, two of the multiple blow-up rates obtained here do depend on the absorption exponents. In the known works, the absorptions affect the blow-up criteria, the blow-up time, as well as the initial data required for the blow-up of solutions, all without changing the blow-up rates. To our knowledge, this is the first example of absorption-dependent blow-up rates, exploiting the significant interactions among diffusions, inner absorptions and nonlinear boundary fluxes in the coupled system. It is also proved that the blow-up of solutions in the model occurs on the boundary only.

Abstract:This paper studies coupled heat equations with multi-nonlinearities of six nonlinear parameters. The critical blow-up exponent is established via a complete classification for all the six nonlinear parameters, where a precise analysis on the geometry of Ω and the absorption coefficients is given for the balanced interaction situation among the multi-nonlinearities. The main attention is contributed to non-simultaneous phenomena in the model to determine the necessary and sufficient conditions of non-simultaneous blow-up with suitable initial data, as well as the conditions under which any blow-up must be non-simultaneous. Finally, the model of the paper is characterized by a comparison with the known results for other models.

Abstract:This paper deals with heat equations coupled via exponential and power nonlinearities, subject to null Dirichlet boundary conditions. The complete and optimal classification on non-simultaneous and simultaneous blow-ups is proposed by four sufficient and necessary conditions. We find out that, in some exponent region, the blow-up properties of the solutions depend much on the choosing of initial data. Moreover, all kinds of non-simultaneous and simultaneous blow-up rates are obtained.

Abstract:We study the blow-up problem of one-dimensional nonlinear heat equations. Our result shows that for a certain class of initial conditions, the solutions blow up in finite time and we characterize the asymptotic dynamics of these solutions. The approach is analogous to one used in bifurcation theory and our techniques can be regarded as a time-dependent version of the Lyapunov-Schmidt decomposition.

Abstract:In this paper, we study a parabolic problem defined in the half line coupled via exponential-type boundary flux. Firstly, we prove the optimal classification of the two components of blow-up solutions when time reaches the blow-up time from left. Blow-up takes place only at the origin, and simultaneous blow-up rates are determined as well. Secondly, we study the weak extension after the blow-up time. Complete blow-up always occurs whether simultaneous blow-up arises or not. Moreover, an instantaneous propagation of the blow-up singularity to the whole spatial domain occurs at the blow-up time, which is the so-called thermal avalanche phenomenon. Finally, we use the evolution of the k-level set of solutions in the approximations to characterize the propagation of the singularity.

Abstract:This paper deals with heat equations coupled via exponential boundary flux, where the solution is made up of n components. Under certain monotone assumptions, necessary and sufficient conditions are obtained for simultaneous blow-up of at least two components for each initial datum. As for two components blowing up simultaneously, it is interesting that the representations of blow-up rates are quite different with respect to the different blow-up mechanisms and positions between the two components.

Abstract:The present paper studied the blow-up and boundedness of solutions at finite time for evolution (p-Laplace) equations with nonlinear boundary conditions. The authors firstly proved a comparison principle in one dimension case and then found some conditions under which the solutions may blow-up at finite time. The authors also gave some conditions under which the solutions will be bounded at any finite time. Similar results to the radial solutions of the equation in higher dimension case are also mentioned. In the last section, a (special) example is presented to show that the theorems are applicable.

Abstract:. This paper deals with simultaneous and non-simultaneous blow-up for heat equations coupled via nonlinear boundary fluxes ∂ u/∂η = u^m + v^p, ∂ v/∂η = u^q + v^n . It is proved that, if m < q + 1 and n < p + 1, then blow-up must be simultaneous, and that, for radially symmetric and nondecreasing in time solutions, non-simultaneous blow-up occurs for some initial data if and only if m > q + 1 or n > p + 1. We find three regions: (i) q + 1 < m < p /( p + 1 − n ) and n < p +1, (ii) p + 1 < n < q /( q + 1 − m ) and m < q +1, (iii) m > q +1 and n > p +1, where both simultaneous and non-simultaneous blow-up are possible. Four different simultaneous blow-up rates are obtained under different conditions. It is interesting that different initial data may lead to different simultaneous blow-up rates even for the same values of the exponent parameters.
