Abstract:The first target of this article is the local well-posedness question for 1D quasilinear Schrödinger equations with cubic nonlinearities. The study of this class of problems, in all dimensions, was initiated in pioneering work of Kenig-Ponce-Vega for localized initial data, and then continued by Marzuola-Metcalfe-Tataru for initial data in Sobolev spaces. Our objective here is to fully redevelop the study of this problem in the 1D case, and to prove a \emph{sharp local well-posedness} result. The second goal of this article is to consider the long time/global existence of solutions for the same problem. This is motivated by a broad conjecture formulated by the authors in earlier work, which reads as follows: ``\emph{Cubic defocusing dispersive one dimensional flows with small initial data have global dispersive solutions}''; the conjecture was initially proved for a well chosen semilinear model of Schrödinger type. Our work here establishes the above conjecture for 1D quasilinear Schrödinger flows. Precisely, we show that if the problem has \emph{phase rotation symmetry} and is \emph{conservative and defocusing}, then small data in Sobolev spaces yields global, scattering solutions. This is the first result of this type for 1D quasilinear dispersive flows. Furthermore, we prove it at the minimal Sobolev regularity in our local well-posedness result. The defocusing condition is essential in our global result. Without it, the authors have conjectured that \emph{small, $\epsilon$ size data yields long time solutions on the $\epsilon^{-8}$ time-scale}. A third goal of this paper is to also prove this second conjecture for 1D quasilinear Schrödinger flows.

Abstract:A broad conjecture, formulated by the authors in earlier work, reads as follows: "Cubic defocusing dispersive one dimensional flows with small initial data have global dispersive solutions". Notably, here smallness is only assumed in $H^s$ Sobolev spaces, without any localization assumption. The conjecture was initially proved by the authors first for a class of semilinear Schrödinger type models, and then for quasilinear Schrödinger flows. In this work we take the next natural step, and prove the above conjecture for a much larger class of one dimensional semilinear dispersive problems with a cubic nonlinearity, where the dispersion relation is no longer of Schrödinger type. This result is the first of its kind, for any 1D cubic problem not of Schrödinger type. Furthermore, it only requires initial data smallness at critical regularity, a threshold that has never been reached before for any 1D cubic dispersive flow. In terms of dispersive decay, we prove that our global in time solutions satisfy both global $L^6_{t,x}$ Strichartz estimates and bilinear $L^2_{t,x}$ bounds.

Abstract:In this article, we investigate the global well-posedness for the defocusing, cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation posed on $\T^3$ with intial data lying in its critical space $H^\frac{1}{2}(\T^3)$. By establishing the linear profile decomposition, and applied this to the concentration-compactness/rigidity argument, we prove that if the solution remains bounded in the critical Sobolev space throughout the maximal lifespan, i.e. $u\in L_t^\infty{H}^\frac{1}{2}(I\times\T^3)$, then $u$ is global.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the Cauchy's problem of global existence and scattering behavior of small, smooth, and localized solutions of cubic fractional Schr\"odinger equations in one dimension, \begin{equation*} \mathrm{i} \partial_t u- (-\Delta)^{\frac{\alpha}{2}} u=c_*|u|^2u, \end{equation*} where $\alpha \in (\frac{1}{3},1), c_* \in \mathbb{R}$. Our work is a generalization of the result due to Ionescu and Pusateri \cite{IP}, where the case $\alpha=\frac{1}{2}$ was considered. The highlight in this paper is to give a modified dispersive estimate in weighted Sobolev spaces for cubic fractional Schr\"odinger equations, which could be used for $ \alpha \in (\frac{1}{3},1)$. Based on this modified dispersive estimate, we prove the global existence and modified scattering behavior of solutions combining space-time resonance and bootstrap arguments.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the global well-posedness and scattering of 3D defocusing, cubic Schrödinger equation. Recently, Dodson [<a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2004.09618" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2004.09618">arXiv:2004.09618</a>] studied the global well-posedness in a critical Sobolev space $\dot{W}^{11/7,7/6}$. In this paper, we aim to show that if the initial data belongs to $\dot H^\frac12$ to guarantee the local existence, then some extra weak space which is subcritical, is sufficient to prove the global well-posedness. More precisely, we prove that if the initial data belongs to $\dot{H}^{1/2}\cap \dot{W}^{s,1}$ for $12/13<s \leqslant 1$, then the corresponding solution exists globally and scatters.

Abstract:Consider a quasi-linear system of two Klein–Gordon equations with masses m1, m2. We prove that when m1≠2m2 and m2≠2m1, such a system has global solutions for small, smooth, compactly supported Cauchy data. This extends a result proved by Sunagawa (J. Differential Equations 192 (2) (2003) 308) in the semi-linear case. Moreover, we show that global existence holds true also when m1=2m2 and a convenient null condition is satisfied by the nonlinearities.

Abstract:For any subcritical index of regularity s > 3/2, we prove the almost global well posedness for the 2-dimensional semilinear wave equation with the cubic nonlinearity in the derivatives, when the initial data are small in the Sobolev space H s × H s−1 with certain angular regularity. The lifespan is known to be sharp in general. The main new ingredient in the proof is an endpoint version of the generalized Strichartz estimates in the space . In the last section, we also consider the general semilinear wave equations with the spatial dimension n ≥ 2 and the order of nonlinearity p ≥ 3.

Abstract:We are interested in the cubic Dirac equation in two space dimensions. We establish the small data global existence and sharp pointwise decay results for general cubic nonlinearities without additional structure. We also prove the scattering of the Dirac equation for certain classes of nonlinearities. In all the above results we do not require the initial data to have compact support.

Abstract:We consider the Cauchy problem to the 3D fractional Schrödinger equation with quadratic interaction of $u\bar u$ type. We prove the global existence of solutions and scattering properties for small initial data. For the proof, one novelty is that we combine the normal form methods and the space-time resonance methods. Using the normal form transform enables us more flexibilities in designing the resolution spaces so that we can control various interactions. It is also convenient for the final data problem.

Abstract:In this article, we investigate the global well-posedness for cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation(NLS) $ i\partial_tu+\Delta_gu=|u|^2u$ posed on the three dimensional compact manifolds $(M,g)$ with initial data $u_0\in H^s(M)$ where $s>\frac{\sqrt{21}-1}{4}$ for Zoll manifold and $s>\frac{1+3\sqrt{5}}{8}$ for the product of spheres $\Bbb{S}^2\times\Bbb{S}^1$. We utilize the multilinear eigenfunction estimate on compact manifold to treat the interaction of different frequencies, which is more complicated compared to the case of flat torus [C. Fan, G. Staffilani, H. Wang, B. Wilson, Anal. PDE, 11 (2018), 919-944.] and waveguide manifold [Z. Zhao, J. Zheng, SIAM J. Math. Anal. 53 (2020), 3644-3660.]. Moreover, combining with the I-method adapted to the non-periodic case, bilinear Strichartz estimates along with the scale-invariant $L^p$ linear Strichartz estimates, we partially obtain the similar result of [Z. Zhao, J. Zheng, SIAM J. Math. Anal. 53 (2020), 3644-3660.] on non-flat compact manifold setting. As a consequence, we obtain the polynomial bounds of the $H^s$ norm of solution $u$.

Abstract:In this work, we prove global well-posedness and scattering for systems of quadratic nonlinear Schrödinger equations in the critical three-dimensional case, for small, localized data. For the terms corresponding to the nonlinearity $u\bar{u}$, we need to do an $\epsilon$ regularization of this part of the nonlinearity. In order to tackle quadratic space-time resonances, after performing a Littlewood-Paley decomposition, we use integration by parts in the Duhamel term, to take advantage of the oscillations when space-time resonances are absent.

Abstract:In this paper we prove an abstract result of almost global existence for small and smooth solutions of some semilinear PDEs on Riemannian manifolds with globally integrable geodesic flow. Some examples of such manifolds are Lie groups (including flat tori), homogeneous spaces and rotational invariant surfaces. As applications of the abstract result we prove almost global existence for a nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a convolution potential and for a nonlinear beam equation. We also prove $H^s$ stability of the ground state in NLS equation. The proof is based on a normal form procedure.

Abstract:This paper is devoted to the cubic Camassa–Holm-Type equation with a nonlocal cubic nonlinearity suggested as an asymptotic model for the 2D full water wave dynamics which is nonlocal with higher-order nonlinearities compared to the classical Camassa–Holm equation. We establish the global existence and uniqueness of the energy conservative weak solution in the energy space.

Abstract:In this paper, we study a quantum kinetic-fluid model in a three-dimensional torus. This model is a coupling of the Vlasov-Fokker-Planck equation and the compressible quantum Navier-Stokes equations with degenerate viscosity. Abstract:We investigate a dissipative hyperbolic geometry flow in two space variables for which a new nonlinear wave equation is derived. Based on an energy method, the global existence of solutions to the dissipative hyperbolic geometry flow is established. Furthermore, the scalar curvature of the metric remains uniformly bounded. Moreover, under suitable assumptions, we establish the global existence of classical solutions to the Cauchy problem, and we show that the solution and its derivative decay to zero as the time tends to infinity. In addition, the scalar curvature of the solution metric converges to the one of the flat metric at an algebraic rate.
Global stabilization of the cubic defocusing nonlinear Schrödinger equation on the torus

Abstract:In this article, we prove the (uniform) global exponential stabilization of the cubic defocusing Schrödinger equation on the torus d-dimensional torus, for d=1, 2 or 3, with a linear damping localized in a subset of the torus satisfying some geometrical assumptions. In particular, this answers an open question of Dehman, Gérard, Lebeau from 2006. Our approach is based on three ingredients. First, we prove the well-posedness of the closed-loop system in Bourgain spaces. Secondly, we derive new Carleman estimates for the nonlinear equation by directly including the cubic term in the conjugated operator. Thirdly, by conjugating with energy estimates and Morawetz multipliers method, we then deduce quantitative observability estimates leading to the uniform exponential decay of the total energy of the system. As a corollary of the global stabilization result, we obtain an upper bound of the minimal time of the global null-controllability of the nonlinear equation by using a stabilization procedure and a local null-controllability result.
