Abstract:This is a sequel to [2] and [3], which study the second boundary value problems for mean curvature flow. Consequently, we construct the translating solitons with prescribed Gauss image in Minkowski space.

Abstract:In this paper we study the regularity and singularity of the mean curvature flow of closed, smooth, embedded hypersurfaces in the Euclidean space with positive mean curvature, with an attempt to understand the geometry of first time singularities. First we consider the mean curvature flow of graphs and convex hypersurfaces. Then we consider the special blow-up solutions at the maximal mean curvature points and obtain self-similar solutions at type I singularities and translating solutions at type II singularities. Finally we show that a general blow-up sequence converges along a subsequence to a convex limit flow, and give a classification of ancient convex solutions. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: 53C44, 53A10, 35J60.

Abstract:Some geometric behaviours of complete solutions to mean curvature flow before the singularities occur are studied. The author obtains the estimates of the rate of the distance between two fixed points and the derivatives of the second fundamental form. By use of a new maximum principle, some geometric properties at infinity are obtained.

Abstract:In this paper we study the geometry of first time singularities of the mean curvature flow. By the curvature pinching estimate of Huisken and Sinestrari, we prove that a mean curvature flow of hypersurfaces in the Euclidean space Rn+1 with positive mean curvature is K-noncollapsing, and a blow-up sequence converges locally smoothly along a subsequence to a smooth, convex blow-up solution. As a consequence we obtain a local Harnack inequality for the mean convex flow.

Abstract:In this paper we study a contracting flow of closed, convex hypersurfaces in the Euclidean space ℝ^n+1 with speed f r^α K, where K is the Gauss curvature, r is the distance from the hypersurface to the origin, and f is a positive and smooth function. If α≥ n+1, we prove that the flow exists for all time and converges smoothly after normalisation to a soliton, which is a sphere centred at the origin if f ≡ 1. Our argument provides a parabolic proof in the smooth category for the classical Aleksandrov problem, and resolves the dual q-Minkowski problem introduced by Huang, Lutwak, Yang and Zhang (Acta Math. 216 (2016): 325-388), for the case q<0. If α < n+1, corresponding to the case q>0, we also establish the same results for even function f and origin-symmetric initial condition, but for non-symmetric f, counterexample is given for the above smooth convergence.

Abstract:Let M n be a smooth, compact manifold without boundary, and F 0: M n → R n+1 a smooth immersion which is convex. The one-parameter families F(·, t): M n × [0, T) → R n+1 of hypersurfaces M t n = F(·, t)(M n ) satisfy an initial value problem dt/dF(·, t) = −H k (·, t)ν(·, t), F(·, 0) = F 0(·), where H is the mean curvature and ν(·, t) is the outer unit normal at F(·, t), such that −H ν = $\overrightarrow H $ is the mean curvature vector, and k > 0 is a constant. This problem is called H k -flow. Such flow will develop singularities after finite time. According to the blow-up rate of the square norm of the second fundamental forms, the authors analyze the structure of the rescaled limit by classifying the singularities as two types, i.e., Type I and Type II. It is proved that for Type I singularity, the limiting hypersurface satisfies an elliptic equation; for Type II singularity, the limiting hypersurface must be a translating soliton.

Abstract:Under the hypothesis of mean curvature flows of hypersurfaces, we prove that the limit of the smooth rescaling of the singularity is weakly convex. It is a generalization of the result due to G. Huisken and C. Sinestrari in [5]. These a-priori bounds are satisfied for mean convex hypersurfaces in locally symmetric Riemannian manifolds with nonnegative sectional curvature.

Abstract:We study the solvability of the second boundary value problem of the Lagrangian mean curvature equation arising from special Lagrangian geometry. By the parabolic method, we obtain the existence and uniqueness of the smooth uniformly convex solution, which generalizes the Brendle–Warren's theorem about minimal Lagrangian diffeomorphism in Euclidean metric space.

We study the basic properties, such as positivity preserving property, of the translating mean curvature flow. The Dirichlet problem for the graphical translating mean curvature flow is studied and the global existence of the flow and the convergence property are also considered.

Abstract:We prove that a proper weak solution $\{ \Omega_{t} \}_{0 \leq t < \infty}$ to inverse mean curvature flow in $\mathbb{H}^{n}$, $3\leq n \leq 7$, is smooth and star-shaped by the time \begin{equation*} T= (n-1) \log \left( \frac{\text{sinh} \left( r_{+} \right)}{ \text{sinh} \left( r_{-} \right)} \right), \end{equation*} where $r_{+}$ and $r_{-}$ are the geodesic out-radius and in-radius of the initial domain $\Omega_{0}$. The argument is inspired by the Alexandrov reflection method for extrinsic curvature flows in $\mathbb{R}^{n}$ due to Chow-Gulliver and uses a result of Li-Wei. In addition to this, our methods establish expanding spheres as the only proper weak IMCF on $\mathbb{H}^{n} \setminus \{ 0 \}$ in all dimensions. As applications, we extend the Minkowski inequalities of Brendle-Hung-Wang and De Lima-Girao to outer-minimizing domains $\Omega_{0} \subset \mathbb{H}^{n}$ in dimensions $3 \leq n \leq 7$. From this, we also extend a Penrose-type inequality to balanced asymptotically hyperbolic graphs over the exteriors of outer-minimizing domains of $\mathbb{H}^{n}$ in these dimensions.

Abstract:In this paper, we study entire translating solutions u ( x ) u(x) to a mean curvature flow equation in Minkowski space. We show that if Σ = { ( x , u ( x ) ) | x ∈ R n } \Sigma =\{(x, u(x)) | x\in \mathbb {R}^n\} is a strictly spacelike hypersurface, then Σ \Sigma reduces to a strictly convex rank k k soliton in R k , 1 \mathbb {R}^{k,1} (after splitting off trivial factors) whose “blowdown” converges to a multiple λ ∈ ( 0 , 1 ) \lambda \in (0,1) of a positively homogeneous degree one convex function in R k \mathbb {R}^k . We also show that there is nonuniqueness as the rotationally symmetric solution may be perturbed to a solution by an arbitrary smooth order one perturbation.

Abstract:In this paper we study the theory of self translating solitons of the mean curvature flow of immersed surfaces in the product space $\mathbb{H}^2\times\mathbb{R}$. We relate this theory to the one of manifolds with density, and exploit this relation by regarding these translating solitons as minimal surfaces in a conformal metric space. Explicit examples of these surfaces are constructed, and we study the asymptotic behaviour of the existing rotationally symmetric examples. Finally, we prove some uniqueness and non-existence theorems.

Abstract:We consider strictly convex hypersurfaces which are evolving by the non-parametric logarithmic Gauss curvature flow subject to a Neumann boundary condition. Solutions are shown to converge smoothly to hypersurfaces moving by translation. In particular, for bounded domains we prove that convex functions with prescribed normal derivative satisfy a uniform oscillation estimate.

Abstract:In this short note we study Bernstein's type theorem of translating solitons whose images of their Gauss maps are contained in compact subsets in an open hemisphere of the standard $\mathbf{S}^n$ (see Theorem 1.1). As a special case we get a classical Bernstein's type theorem in minimal submanifolds in $\mathbf{R}^{n+1}$ (see Corollary 1.2).

Abstract:A soliton of the mean curvature flow in the product space $\mathbb{s}^2\times\mathbb{R}$ as a surface whose mean curvature $H$ satisfies the equation $H=\langle N,X\rangle$, where $N$ is the unit normal of the surface and $X$ is a Killing vector field. In this paper we consider the vector field tangent to the fibers and the vector field associated to a rotations about an axis of $\mathbb{s}^2$, respectively. We give a classification of the solitons with respect to these vector fields assuming that the surface is invariant under a one-parameter group of vertical translations or under a group of rotations of $\mathbb{s}^2$.

Abstract:First, we review the authors’ recent results on translating solutions to mean curvature flows in Euclidean space as well as in Minkowski space, emphasizing on the asymptotic expansion of rotationally symmetric solutions. Then we study the sufficient condition for which the translating solution is rotationally symmetric. We will use a moving plane method to show that this condition is optimal for the symmetry of solutions to fully nonlinear elliptic equations without ground state condition.

We first prove the existence of translating solutions with given asymptotic behavior. Then, we prove that for strictly convex initial hypersurface satisfying certain conditions, the curvature flow exists for all time, and the normalized flow converges to a translating solution.
