Abstract:We re-consider recent measures of $R_{K}$ and $R_{K^*}$, now compatible with the Standard Model expectations, as well as the results for the process $\text{BR}(B_s \rightarrow \mu^+ \mu^-)$ alongside earlier determinations of $R_{D^{(\ast)}}$ and $\text{BR}(B_c \rightarrow \tau \nu)$. We provide analytic constraints on the associated Wilson coefficients in both the $b \to s$ and the $b \to c$ sectors. These allow us to estimate the scale of potential New Physics for generic extensions of the Standard Model. We then use the results to constrain the leptoquark landscape.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
This paper mainly explores the possible paths of new physics in the decay processes of B mesons in the Standard Model, especially in the flavor changing neutral currents (FCNCs) processes involving B mesons decaying into s quarks and c quarks. The authors re-examine the recent measurements of RK and RK*, which are now consistent with the predictions of the Standard Model, and also consider the results of BR(Bs→µ+µ−), RD(*), and BR(Bc→τν) that have been determined earlier. Through theoretical analysis of these observed values, they provide analytical constraints on the Wilson coefficients related to these observed values. In the analysis of the flavor changing processes b→s and b→c, the paper conducts the analysis by considering the observables that are less affected by strong interactions, such as RK, RK*, BR(Bs→µ+µ−), and BR(Bc→τν). They use the FLAVIO tool for numerical fitting to consolidate the results. The study also focuses specifically on the leptoquark (LQs) scenario, which is widely discussed in the literature as a possible extension of the Standard Model or as a description of certain potential composite dynamics in the flavor sector. The paper points out that for the b→s process, the new analysis shows that a weak singlet scalar leptoquark S1 (with a mass in the TeV range) can simultaneously explain the deviations of the Standard Model in RD(*), while satisfying the restrictions of RK(*). For the b→c process, although the S1 model performs well in the muon sector, other LQ models require significant fine-tuning to explain both the b→s and b→c data simultaneously. In addition, the study provides estimates of possible scales of new physics and presents limits on the Z' boson and different types of scalar and vector LQs. The conclusion of the paper is that despite the latest experimental measurements being more consistent with the Standard Model, there are still some deviations that may indicate new physics phenomena at the TeV scale, particularly related to LQs. In summary, the problem addressed in this paper is how to use the observed data in the B meson decay processes to constrain new physics models beyond the Standard Model, especially the role of leptoquarks, and at what energy scale these new physics phenomena may appear.
