Abstract:Our motivation is to build a systematic method in order to investigate the structure of cluster algebras of geometric type. The method is given through the notion of mixing-type sub-seeds, the theory of seed homomorphisms and the view-point of gluing of seeds. As an application, for (rooted) cluster algebras, we completely classify rooted cluster subalgebras and characterize rooted cluster quotient algebras in detail. Also, we build the relationship between the categorification of a rooted cluster algebra and that of its rooted cluster subalgebras. Note that cluster algebras of geometric type studied here are of the sign-skew-symmetric case.

Abstract:Cluster algebras are commutative algebras that were introduced by Fomin and Zelevinsky in order to model the dual canonical basis of a quantum group and total positivity in algebraic groups. Cluster categories were introduced as a representation-theoretic model for cluster algebras. In this article we use this representation-theoretic approach to prove a conjecture of Fomin and Zelevinsky, that for cluster algebras with no coefficients associated to quivers with no oriented cycles, a seed is determined by its cluster. We also obtain an interpretation of the monomial in the denominator of a non-polynomial cluster variable in terms of the composition factors of an indecomposable exceptional module over an associated hereditary algebra.

Abstract:The cluster-tilted algebras have been introduced by Buan, Marsh and Reiten, they are the endomorphism rings of cluster-tilting objects $T$ in cluster categories; we call such an algebra cluster-concealed in case $T$ is obtained from a preprojective tilting module. For example, all representation-finite cluster-tilted algebras are cluster-concealed. If $C$ is a representation-finite cluster-tilted algebra, then the indecomposable $C$-modules are shown to be determined by their dimension vectors. For a general cluster-tilted algebra $C$, we are going to describe the dimension vectors of the indecomposable $C$-modules in terms of the root system of a quadratic form. The roots may have both positive and negative coordinates and we have to take absolute values.

Abstract:We study cluster algebras that are associated to unpunctured surfaces with coefficients arising from boundary arcs. We give a direct formula for the Laurent polynomial expansion of cluster variables in these cluster algebras in terms of certain paths on a triangulation of the surface. As an immediate consequence, we prove the positivity conjecture of Fomin and Zelevinsky for these cluster algebras. In the special case where the cluster algebra is acyclic, we also give a formula for the expansion of cluster variables as a polynomial whose indeterminates are the cluster variables contained in the union of an arbitrary acyclic cluster and all its neighbouring clusters in the mutation graph.

Abstract:Following our previous work [18], we introduce the notions of partial seed homomorphisms and partial ideal rooted cluster morphisms. Related to the theory of Green's equivalences, the isomorphism classes of sub-rooted cluster algebras of a rooted cluster algebra are corresponded one-by-one to the regular $\mathcal D$-classes of the semigroup consisting of partial seed endomorphisms of the initial seed. Moreover, for a rooted cluster algebra from a Riemannian surface, they are also corresponded to the isomorphism classes of the so-called paunched surfaces.

Abstract:The first part of the article is a survey on the relation between cluster theory and Green's equivalences in semigroup theory. Precisely, we will discuss the isomorphism classes of sub-rooted cluster algebras of a rooted cluster algebra corresponding one-by-one to the regular D-classes of the semigroup consisting of partial seed endomorphisms of the initial seed. In the second part of the article, we will study a rooted cluster algebra from a Riemann surface, also we consider sub-rooted cluster algebras corresponding to the isomorphism classes of the so-called paunched surfaces. Finally, we state our observation for rooted cluster algebras from orbifolds and give a conjectural description for them analogous to those results from the surfaces.

Abstract:Affine cluster varieties are covered up to codimension 2 by open algebraic tori. We put forth a general conjecture (based on earlier conversation between Vivek Shende and the last author) characterizing their deep locus, i.e. the complement of all cluster charts, as the locus of points with non-trivial stabilizer under the action of cluster automorphisms. We use the diagrammatics of Demazure weaves to verify the conjecture for skew-symmetric cluster varieties of finite cluster type with arbitrary choice of frozens and for the top open positroid strata of Grassmannians $\mathrm{Gr}(2,n)$ and $\mathrm{Gr}(3,n)$. We illustrate how this already has applications in symplectic topology and mirror symmetry, by proving that the Fukaya category of Grassmannians $\mathrm{Gr}(2,2n+1)$ is split-generated by finitely many Lagrangian tori, and homological mirror symmetry holds with a Landau--Ginzburg model proposed by Rietsch. Finally, we study the geometry of the deep locus, and find that it can be singular and have several irreducible components of different dimensions, but they all are again cluster varieties in our examples in really full rank cases.

Abstract:We consider the symplectic groupoid of pairs $(B,\mathbb{A})$ with $\mathbb A$ unipotent upper-triangular matrices and $B\in GL_n$ being such that $\widetilde {\mathbb A}=B{\mathbb A} B^{\text{T}}$ are also unipotent upper-triangular matrices. We explicitly solve this groupoid condition using Fock--Goncharov--Shen cluster variables and show that for $B$ satisfying the standard semiclassical Lie--Poisson algebra, the matrices $B$, $\mathbb A$, and $\widetilde{\mathbb A}$ satisfy the closed Poisson algebra relations expressible in the $r$-matrix form. Identifying entries of $\mathbb A$ and $\widetilde {\mathbb A}$ with geodesic functions for geodesics on the two halves of a closed Riemann surface of genus $g=n-1$ separated by the Markov element, we are able to construct the geodesic function $G_B$ ``dual'' to the Markov element. We thus obtain the complete cluster algebra description of Teichmüller space $\mathcal T_{2,0}$ of genus two. We discuss also the generalization of our construction for higher genera. For genus larger than three we need a Hamiltonian reduction based on the rank condition $\hbox{rank\,}({\mathbb A}+{\mathbb A}^{\text{T}})\le 4$; we present the example of such a reduction for $\mathcal T_{4,0}$.

Cluster tubes are 2-Calabi-Yau triangulated categories that contain no cluster tilting objects, but maximal rigid objects. Fix a certain maximal rigid object T in the cluster tube C-n of rank n. For any indecomposable rigid object M in C-n, we define an analogous X-M of Caldero-Chapoton's formula (or Palu's cluster character formula) by using the geometric information of M. We show that X-M, X-M' satisfy the mutation formula when M, M' form an exchange pair, and that X? : M (sic). X-M gives a bijection from the set of indecomposable rigid objects in C-n to the set of cluster variables of cluster algebra of type Cn-1, which induces a bijection between the set of basic maximal rigid objects in C-n and the set of clusters. This yields a surprising result proved recently by Buan-Marsh-Vatne that the combinatorics of maximal rigid objects in the cluster tube C-n encodes the combinatorics of the cluster algebra of type Bn-1, since the combinatorics of cluster algebras of type Bn-1 and of type Cn-1 is the same by a result of Fomin and Zelevinsky. As a consequence, we give a categorification of cluster algebras of type C.

Symmetry Integrability and Geometry Methods and Applications

Abstract:We develop and prove the analogs of some results shown in [Berenstein A., Fomin S., Zelevinsky A., Duke Math. J. 126 (2005), 1-52] concerning lower and upper bounds of cluster algebras to the generalized cluster algebras of geometric type. We show that lower bounds coincide with upper bounds under the conditions of acyclicity and coprimality. Consequently, we obtain the standard monomial bases of these generalized cluster algebras. Moreover, in the appendix, we prove that an acyclic generalized cluster algebra is equal to the corresponding generalized upper cluster algebra without the assumption of the existence of coprimality.

Abstract:We introduce the notion of a lower bound cluster algebra generated by projective cluster variables as a polynomial ring over the initial cluster variables and the so-called projective cluster variables. We show that under an acyclicity assumption, the cluster algebra and the lower bound cluster algebra generated by projective cluster variables coincide. In this case we use our results to construct a basis for the cluster algebra. We also show that any coefficient-free cluster algebra of types $A_n$ or $\widetilde{A}_n$ is equal to the corresponding lower bound cluster algebra generated by projective cluster variables.

Abstract:With any non necessarily orientable unpunctured marked surface (S,M) we associate a commutative algebra, called quasi-cluster algebra, equipped with a distinguished set of generators, called quasi-cluster variables, in bijection with the set of arcs and one-sided simple closed curves in (S,M). Quasi-cluster variables are naturally gathered into possibly overlapping sets of fixed cardinality, called quasi-clusters, corresponding to maximal non-intersecting families of arcs and one-sided simple closed curves in (S,M). If the surface S is orientable, then the quasi-cluster algebra is the cluster algebra associated with the marked surface (S,M) in the sense of Fomin, Shapiro and Thurston. We classify quasi-cluster algebras with finitely many quasi-cluster variables and prove that for these quasi-cluster algebras, quasi-cluster monomials form a linear basis. Finally, we attach to (S,M) a family of discrete integrable systems satisfied by quasi-cluster variables associated to arcs in the quasi-cluster algebra and we prove that solutions of these systems can be expressed in terms of cluster variables of type A.

We prove that this lower bound algebra coincides with the corresponding generalized cluster algebra under the coprimality condition. As a corollary, we obtain the dual PBW bases of these generalized cluster algebras. Moreover, we show that if the standard monomials of a generalized cluster algebra of geometric type are linearly independent, then the directed graph associated to the initial generalized seed of this generalized cluster algebra does not have 3-cycles.

Noncommutative Polygonal Cluster Algebras

Abstract:We define a new family of noncommutative generalizations of cluster algebras called polygonal cluster algebras. These algebras generalize the noncommutative surfaces of Berenstein-Retakh, and are inspired by the emerging theory of $\Theta$-positivity for the groups $\mathrm{Spin}(p,q)$. They are generated by mutations of quivers which we call ST-compatible, and which encode the order of the products that appear in the exchange relations. We show that these ST-compatible quivers can be represented by tilings of surfaces by polygons, a generalization of the description of surface type cluster algebras. As examples, we construct tilings which produce ST-compatible versions of the Del Pezzo quivers and the quivers first described by Le for Fock-Goncharov coordinates for Lie groups of type $B$. We show that polygonal cluster algebras have natural evaluations in Clifford algebras, which we use to produce noncommutative generalizations of the Somos sequences and to parameterize the $\Theta$-positive semigroup of $\mathrm{Spin}(2,n)$. We indicate how this will be done for the semigroup in $\mathrm{Spin}(p,q)$ and how one will give coordinates for general $\Theta$-positive representations into $\mathrm{Spin}(p,q)$.

Abstract:We study cluster categories arising from marked surfaces (with punctures and non empty boundaries). By constructing skewed-gentle algebras, we show that there is a bijection between tagged curves and string objects. Applications include interpreting dimensions of Ext(1) as intersection numbers of tagged curves and Auslander Reiten translation as tagged rotation. An important consequence is that the cluster(-tilting) exchange graphs of such cluster categories are connected.

Abstract:Inspired by the ideas and techniques used in the study of cluster algebras we construct a new class of algebras, called bistellar cluster algebras, from closed oriented triangulated even-dimensional manifolds by performing middle-dimensional bistellar moves. This class of algebras exhibit the algebraic behaviour of middle-dimensional bistellar moves but do not satisfy the classical cluster algebra axiom: "every cluster variable in every cluster is exchangeable". Thus the construction of bistellar cluster algebras is quite different from that of a classical cluster algebra. Secondly, using bistellar cluster algebras and the techniques of combinatorial topology, we construct a direct system associated with a set of PL homeomorphic PL manifolds of dimension 2 or 4, and show that the limit of this direct system is a PL invariant.
