Abstract:We present a study of the Effective Field Theory (EFT) generalization of stochastic inflation in a model-independent single-field framework and its impact on primordial black hole (PBH) formation. We show how the Langevin equations for the "soft" modes in quasi de Sitter background is described by the Infra-Red (IR) contributions of scalar perturbations, and the subsequent Fokker-Planck equation driving the probability distribution for the stochastic duration ${\cal N}$, significantly modify in the present EFT picture. An explicit perturbative analysis of the distribution function by implementing the stochastic-$\delta N$ formalism is performed up to the next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order (NNNLO) for both the classical-drift and quantum-diffusion dominated regimes. In the drift-dominated limit, we perturbatively analyse the local non-Gaussianity parameters $(f_{\rm NL}, g_{\rm NL}, \tau_{\rm NL})$ with the EFT-induced modifications. In the diffusion-dominated limit, we numerically compute the probability distribution featuring exponential tails at each order of perturbative treatment.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is to study the influence on the formation of primordial black holes (PBH) by constructing a stochastic single - field inflation model in the framework of soft de Sitter effective field theory (SdSET). Specifically, the paper focuses on how the quantum diffusion effect affects the dynamics of large - scale classical perturbations during the ultraslow - roll (USR) phase, and how these effects change the probability distribution function (PDF) of primordial black hole formation. In addition, the paper also explores the evolution of the PDF and its influence on non - Gaussian parameters (such as \(f_{\text{NL}}\), \(g_{\text{NL}}\), \(\tau_{\text{NL}}\)) in the drift - dominated and diffusion - dominated cases in different - order perturbative treatments. ### Main contributions of the paper 1. **Stochastic single - field inflation in the EFT framework**: - An EFT framework independent of specific scalar field models was constructed, and stochastic effects were introduced by splitting the long - wave and short - wave components of the gauge - invariant comoving curvature perturbation \(\zeta\). - The EFT action including high - order derivative terms was derived, and it was shown how to calculate cosmological correlation functions using the Schwinger - Keldysh technique while considering the influence of the stochastic parameter \(\sigma\). 2. **Langevin equation and Fokker - Planck equation**: - The Langevin equation describing the "soft" modes in the quasi - de Sitter background was derived, and these modes are described by the infrared contribution of scalar perturbations. - Based on the Langevin equation, the Fokker - Planck equation driving the probability distribution of the extended variable \(N\) was derived, and its corrections in the EFT framework were analyzed. 3. **High - order perturbative analysis**: - Perturbative analyses from zero - order to next - to - next - to - next - leading - order (NNNLO) were carried out in the drift - dominated and diffusion - dominated cases respectively. - The forms of the PDF in different - order perturbative treatments were calculated in detail, and its influence on non - Gaussian parameters was analyzed. 4. **Formation mechanism of primordial black holes**: - How the stochastic \(\delta N\) formalism is applied to the formation mechanism of PBH in the EFT framework was studied. - The mass fraction \(\beta\) and abundance \(f_{\text{PBH}}\) of PBH were analyzed, and expressions from zero - order to NNNLO were given. ### Main methods - **EFT framework**: An EFT framework independent of specific scalar field models was constructed, and stochastic effects were introduced by splitting the long - wave and short - wave components of the gauge - invariant comoving curvature perturbation \(\zeta\). - **Langevin equation**: The Langevin equation describing the "soft" modes in the quasi - de Sitter background was derived, and these modes are described by the infrared contribution of scalar perturbations. - **Fokker - Planck equation**: Based on the Langevin equation, the Fokker - Planck equation driving the probability distribution of the extended variable \(N\) was derived, and its corrections in the EFT framework were analyzed. - **Stochastic \(\delta N\) formalism**: The stochastic \(\delta N\) formalism was applied to study the formation mechanism of PBH, and the mass fraction \(\beta\) and abundance \(f_{\text{PBH}}\) of PBH were calculated. ### Conclusion By constructing a stochastic single - field inflation model in the EFT framework, the paper analyzed in detail the influence of quantum diffusion effects on the formation of primordial black holes during the ultraslow - roll phase. The research results show that high - order perturbative analysis can maintain good perturbative properties in both the drift - dominated and diffusion - dominated cases, and the EFT framework can effectively describe the formation mechanism of PBH.
