Abstract:Let $\mathcal{P}$ be the set of primes and $\mathbb{N}$ the set of positive integers. Let also $r_1,...,r_t$ be positive real numbers and $R_2(r_1,...,r_t)$ the set of odd integers which can be represented as $$ p+2^{\lfloor k_1^{r_1}\rfloor}+\cdot\cdot\cdot+2^{\lfloor k_t^{r_t}\rfloor}, $$ where $p\in \mathcal{P}$ and $k_1,...,k_t\in\mathbb{N}$. Recently, Chen and Xu proved that the set $R_2(r_1,...,r_t)$ has positive lower asymptotic density, provided that $r_1^{-1}+\cdot\cdot\cdot+r_t^{-1}\ge 1$ and at least one of $r_1,...,r_t$ is an integer. Their result reduces to the famous theorem of Romanoff by taking $t=r_1=1.$ In this note, we remove the unnecessary condition that `{\it at least one of $r_1,...,r_t$ is an integer}'.

Abstract:For $m\geq 1$, let $0 0$ be fixed positive integers. Assume there exists a prime $p$ and an integer $t>0$ such that $p^t\mid b_0$, but $p^t\nmid b_{i}\ {\rm for}\ 1\leq i\leq m$. Then, we prove that there is no infinite subset $\mathcal A$ of positive integers, such that the number of solutions of the following equation $$n=b_0(a_{0,1}+\cdot +a_{0,e_0})+...+b_m(a_{m,1}+...+a_{m,r_m}),\ a_{i,j}\in \mathcal A$$ is constant for $n$ large enough. This result generalizes the recent result of Cilleruelo and Rué for the bilinear case, and answers a question posed by Sárkozy and Sós.

Abstract:In this paper, we present a simplified proof of Rado's Theorem and demonstrate that when an integer matrix $M$ satisfies the column condition and $M\mathbf x=\mathbf 0$ has an element-distinct solution on $\mathbb N$, then under any finite coloring of $\mathbb N$, the equation $M\mathbf x=\mathbf 0$ has a monochromatic element-distinct solution. This gives a positive answer to a problem of Di Nasso in 2016.

Abstract:This article investigates Dehornoy's monomial representations for structure groups and Coxeter-like groups of a set-theoretic solution to the Yang-Baxter equation. Using the brace structure of these two groups and the language of cycle sets, we relate the irreducibility of monomial representations to the indecomposability of the solutions. Furthermore, in the case of an indecomposable solution, we show how to obtain these representations by induction from explicit one-dimensional representations.

Abstract:In 2020, Coregliano and Razborov introduced a general framework to study limits of combinatorial objects, using logic and model theory. They introduced the abstract chromatic number and proved/reproved multiple Erdős-Stone-Simonovits-type theorems in different settings. In 2022, Coregliano extended this by showing that similar results hold when we count copies of $K_t$ instead of edges. Our aim is threefold. First, we provide a purely combinatorial approach. Second, we extend their results by showing several other graph parameters and other settings where Erdős-Stone-Simonovits-type theorems follow. Third, we go beyond determining asymptotics and obtain corresponding stability, supersaturation, and sometimes even exact results.

Abstract:Using Blanchfield pairings, we show that two Alexander polynomials cannot be realized by a pair of matrices with Gordian distance one if a corresponding quadratic equation does not have an integer solution. We also give an example of how our results help in calculating the Gordian distances, algebraic Gordian distances and polynomial distances.

Abstract:Given an infinite sequence of positive integers $\cA$, we prove that for every nonnegative integer $k$ the number of solutions of the equation $n=a_1+...+a_k$, $a_1,\,..., a_k\in \cA$, is not constant for $n$ large enough. This result is a corollary of our main theorem, which partially answers a question of Sárközy and Sós on representation functions for multilinear forms. Additionally, we obtain an Erdős-Fuchs type result for a wide variety of representation functions.

Algebraic structures in set-theoretic Yang-Baxter & reflection equations

Abstract:We present resent results regarding invertible, non-degenerate solutions of the set-theoretic Yang-Baxter and reflection equations. We recall the notion of braces and we present and prove various fundamental properties required for the solutions of the set theoretic Yang-Baxter equation. We then restrict our attention on involutive solutions and consider lambda parametric set-theoretic solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation and we extract the associated quantum algebra. We also discuss the notion of the Drinfeld twist for involutive solutions and their relation to the Yangian. We next focus on reflections and we derive the associated defining algebra relations for R-matrices being Baxterized solutions of the symmetric group. We show that there exists a ``reflection'' finite sub-algebra for some special choice of reflection maps.

Abstract:We discuss the problem posed by Bender, Coley, Robbins and Rumsey of enumerating the number of subspaces which have a given profile with respect to a linear operator over the finite field $\mathbb{F}_q$. We solve this problem in the case where the operator is diagonalizable. The solution leads us to a new class of polynomials $b_{\mu\nu}(q)$ indexed by pairs of integer partitions. These polynomials have several interesting specializations and can be expressed as positive sums over semistandard tableaux. We present a new correspondence between set partitions and semistandard tableaux. A close analysis of this correspondence reveals the existence of several new set partition statistics which generate the polynomials $b_{\mu\nu}(q)$; each such statistic arises from a Mahonian statistic on multiset permutations. The polynomials $b_{\mu\nu}(q)$ are also given a description in terms of coefficients in the monomial expansion of $q$-Whittaker symmetric functions which are specializations of Macdonald polynomials. We express the Touchard--Riordan generating polynomial for chord diagrams by number of crossings in terms of $q$-Whittaker functions. We also introduce a class of $q$-Stirling numbers defined in terms of the polynomials $b_{\mu\nu}(q)$ and present connections with $q$-rook theory in the spirit of Garsia and Remmel.

Abstract:In this paper, we use the unitary representation theory of $SL_2(\mathbb R)$ to understand the Rankin-Cohen brackets for modular forms. Then we use this interpretation to study the corresponding deformation problems that Paula Cohen, Yuri Manin and Don Zagier initiated. Two uniqueness results are established.

Relations among Ramanujan-Type Congruences II

Abstract:We show that Ramanujan-type congruences are preserved by the action of the shallow Hecke algebra and provide several structure results for them. We discover a dichotomy between congruences originating in Hecke eigenvalues and congruences on arithmetic progressions with cube-free periods. The scarcity of the latter was investigated recently. We explain that they provide congruences among algebraic parts of twisted central $\mathrm{L}$-values. We specialize our results to partition congruences, for which we investigate the proofs of partition congruences by Atkin and by Ono, and develop a heuristic that suggests that their approach by Hecke operators acting diagonally modulo $\ell$ on modular forms is optimal. In an extended example, we showcase how to employ our conclusions to benefit experimental work.

The R-matrix of the affine Yangian

Abstract:Let g be an affine Lie algebra with associated Yangian Y_hg. We prove the existence of two meromorphic R-matrices associated to any pair of representations of Y_hg in the category O. They are related by a unitary constraint and constructed as products of the form R(s)=R^+(s)R^0(s)R^-(s), where R^+(s) = R^-_{21}(-s)^{-1}. The factor R^0(s) is a meromorphic, abelian R-matrix, with a WKB-type singularity in h, and R^-(s) is a rational twist. Our proof relies on two novel ingredients. The first is an irregular, abelian, additive difference equation whose difference operator is given in terms of the q-Cartan matrix of g. The regularization of this difference equation gives rise to R^0(s) as the exponentials of the two canonical fundamental solutions. The second key ingredient is a higher order analogue of the adjoint action of the affine Cartan subalgebra of g on Y_hg. This action has no classical counterpart, and produces a system of linear equations from which R^-(s) is recovered as the unique solution. Moreover, we show that both operators give rise to the same rational R-matrix on the tensor product of any two highest-weight representations.

Abstract:We give a proof of Ollinger's conjecture that the problem of tiling the plane with translated copies of a set of $8$ polyominoes is undecidable. The techniques employed in our proof include a different orientation for simulating the Wang tiles in polyomino and a new method for encoding the colors of Wang tiles.

Abstract:Let $d$ be a positive integer. The Yangian $Y_d=Y(\mathfrak{gl}(d,\mathbb C))$ of the general linear Lie algebra $\mathfrak{gl}(d,\mathbb C)$ has countably many generators and quadratic-linear defining relations, which can be packed into a single matrix relation using the Yang matrix -- the famous RTT presentation. Alternatively, $Y_d$ can be built from certain centralizer subalgebras of the universal enveloping algebras $U(\mathfrak{gl}(N,\mathbb C))$, with the use of a limit transition as $N\to\infty$. This approach is called the \emph{centralizer construction}. The paper shows that a generalization of the centralizer construction leads to a new family $\{Y_{d,L}: L=1,2,3,\dots\}$ of Yangian-type algebras (the Yangian $Y_d$ being the first term of this family). For the new algebras, the RTT presentation seems to be missing, but a number of properties of the Yangian $Y_d$ persist. In particular, $Y_{d,L}$ possesses a system of quadratic-linear defining relations. The algebras $Y_{d,L}$ ($d=1,2,3,\dots$) provide a kind of quantization for a special double Poisson bracket (in the sense of Van den Bergh) on the free associative algebra with $L$ generators.

Reflections to set-theoretic solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation

Abstract:The main aim of this paper is to determine reflections to bijective and non-degenerate solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation, by exploring their connections with their derived solutions. This is motivated by a recent description of left non-degenerate solutions in terms of a family of automorphisms of their associated left rack. In some cases, we show that the study of reflections for bijective and non-degenerate solutions can be reduced to those of derived type. Moreover, we extend some results obtained in the literature for reflections of involutive non-degenerate solutions to more arbitrary solutions. Besides, we provide ways for defining reflections for solutions obtained by employing some classical construction techniques of solutions. Finally, we gather some numerical data on reflections for bijective non-degenerate solutions associated with skew braces of small order.
