Abstract:We show that, after a renormalisation, one can define the square of the modulus of the solution of the fractional Schrödinger equations on the circle with data in Sobolev spaces of arbitrary negative index. As an application, we obtain observability estimates with rough controls.

Abstract:The smoothing effect states that solutions to the Schr{ö}dinger equation in the Euclidean space have, for almost-every time, a local-in-space improved regularity (gain of half a derivative in Sobolev spaces). In this note, we show that, for the Schr{ö}dinger equation with a sub-quadratic confining potential, the smoothing effect is equivalent to an escape rate estimate on the associated classical flow. The proof relies on an Egorov theorem proved in~\cite{P:24Egorovinprep}.

Abstract:We consider the Schr{ö}dinger equation in $\mathbf{R}^d$, $d \ge 1$, with a confining potential growing at most quadratically. Our main theorem characterizes open sets from which observability holds, provided they are sufficiently regular in a certain sense. The observability condition involves the Hamiltonian flow associated with the Schr{ö}dinger operator under consideration. It is obtained using semiclassical analysis techniques. It allows to provide with an accurate estimation of the optimal observation time. We illustrate this result with several examples. In the case of two-dimensional harmonic potentials, focusing on conical or rotation-invariant observation sets, we express our observability condition in terms of arithmetical properties of the characteristic frequencies of the oscillator.

Abstract:In this work we study the smoothing effect of rough differential equations driven by a fractional Brownian motion with parameter $H>1/4$. The regularization estimates we obtain generalize to the fractional Brownian motion previous results by Kusuoka and Stroock and can be seen as a quantitative version of the existence of smooth densities under Hörmander's type conditions.

Abstract:We establish global bounds for solutions to stationary and time-dependent Schrödinger equations associated with the sublaplacian $\mathcal L$ on the Heisenberg group, as well as its pure fractional power $\mathcal L^s$ and conformally invariant fractional power $\mathcal L_s$. The main ingredient is a new abstract uniform weighted resolvent estimate which is proved by using the method of weakly conjugate operators -- a variant of Mourre's commutator method -- and Hardy's type inequalities on the Heisenberg group. As applications, we show Kato-type smoothing effects for the time-dependent Schrödinger equation, and spectral stability of the sublaplacian perturbed by complex-valued decaying potentials satisfying an explicit subordination condition. In the local case $s=1$, we obtain uniform estimates without any symmetry or derivative loss, which improve previous results.

Abstract:The goal of this article is to obtain observability estimates for Schr{ö}dinger equations in the plane R 2. More precisely, considering a 2$\pi$Z 2-periodic potential V $\in$ L $\infty$ (R 2), we prove that the evolution equation i$\partial$tu = --$\Delta$u + V (x)u, is observable from any 2$\pi$Z 2-periodic measurable set, in any small time T > 0. We then extend Ta{ü}ffer's recent result [T{ä}u22] in the two-dimensional case to less regular observable sets and general bounded periodic potentials. The methodology of the proof is based on the use of the Floquet-Bloch transform, Strichartz estimates and semiclassical defect measures for the obtention of observability inequalities for a family of Schr{ö}dinger equations posed on the torus R 2 /2$\pi$Z 2 .

Local smoothing for the Hermite wave equation

Abstract:We show local smoothing estimates in $L^p$-spaces for solutions to the Hermite wave equation. For this purpose, we obtain a parametrix given by a Fourier Integral Operator, which we linearize. This leads us to analyze local smoothing estimates for solutions to Klein-Gordon equations. We show $\ell^2$-decoupling estimates adapted to the mass parameter to obtain local smoothing with essentially sharp derivative loss. In one dimension as consequence of square function estimates, we obtain estimates sharp up to endpoints. Finally, we elaborate on the implications of local smoothing estimates for Hermite Bochner--Riesz means.

Remarks on Large-Scale Effects of Smoothing Mechanisms in 3D Reaction-Diffusion Equations

Abstract:In [2], we considered a class of reaction-diffusion equations that approximates the dynamical Phi(4)(3) model at large scales. These approximations involve very general smoothing mechanisms that are higher order perturbations of the Laplacian. In this note, we discuss assumptions made on the smoothing mechanism in that article. In particular, we remark that the strict positivity condition of the Fourier multiplier of the operator cannot be relaxed without other modifications, not even to allow it to reach zero outside the origin. On the other hand, if we introduce suitable Fourier cutoffs that are compatible with the non-positive part of the operator, then we expect that no smoothing assumption will be needed on its higher order terms. We then explain how this changes the coupling constant of the limiting equation, and how to modify the argument to prove the result.

Abstract:This paper is inspired by Wang, Wang and Zhang's work [ Observability and unique continuation inequalities for the Schr\"odinger equation. J. Eur. Math. Soc. 21, 3513--3572 (2019)], where they present several observability and unique continuation inequalities for the free Schr\"{o}dinger equation in $\mathbb{R}^{n}$. We extend all such observability and unique continuation inequalities for the Schr\"{o}dinger equations on half-line with inverse-square potentials. Technically, the proofs essentially rely on the representation of the solution, a Nazarov type uncertainty principle for the Hankel transform and an interpolation inequality for functions whose Hankel transform have compact support.

Strong ill-posedness for fractional Hartree and cubic NLS Equations

Abstract:We consider fractional Hartree and cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equations on Euclidean space $\mathbb R^d$ and on torus $\mathbb T^d$. We establish norm inflation (a stronger phenomena than standard ill-posedness) at every initial data in Fourier amalgam spaces with negative regularity. In particular, these spaces include Fourier-Lebesgue, modulation and Sobolev spaces. We further show that this can be even worse by exhibiting norm inflation with an infinite loss of regularity. To establish these phenomena, we employ a Fourier analytic approach and introduce new resonant sets corresponding to the fractional dispersion $(-\Delta)^{\alpha/2}$. In particular, when dispersion index $\alpha$ is large enough, we obtain norm inflation {above} scaling critical regularity in some of these spaces. It turns out that our approach could treat both equations (Hartree and power-type NLS) in a unified manner. The method should also work for a broader range of nonlinear equations with Hartree-type nonlinearity.

Abstract:In this note, we prove the quantitative observability with an explicit control cost for the 1D Schrödinger equation over $\mathbb{R}$ with real-valued, bounded continuous potential on thick sets. Our proof relies on different techniques for low-frequency and high-frequency estimates. In particular, we extend the large time observability result for the 1D free Schrodinger equation in Theorem 1.1 of Huang-Wang-Wang [20] to any short time. As another byproduct, we extend the spectral inequality of Lebeau-Moyano [27] for real-analytic potentials to bounded continuous potentials in the one-dimensional case.

The fractional (relativistic) logarithmic Schrödinger operator is the pseudo-differential operator with logarithmic Fourier symbol, , . We first establish the integral representation corresponding to the operator and provide an asymptotics property of the related kernel. We introduce the functional analytic theory allowing to study the operator from a PDE point of view and the associated Dirichlet problems in an open set of We also establish some variational inequalities, provide the fundamental solution and the asymptotics of the corresponding Green function at zero and at infinity.

Abstract:We utilize exponential sum techniques to obtain upper and lower bounds for the fractal dimension of the graph of solutions to the linear Schrödinger equation on and . Specifically for , we provide dimension bounds using both estimates of Littlewood-Paley blocks, as well as assumptions on the Fourier coefficients. In the appendix, we present a slight improvement to the bilinear Strichartz estimate on for functions supported on the zonal harmonics. We apply this to demonstrate an improved local well-posedness result for the zonal cubic NLS when , and a nonlinear smoothing estimate when . As a corollary of the nonlinear smoothing for solutions to the zonal cubic NLS, we find dimension bounds generalizing the results of Erdoğan and Tzirakis (Math Res Lett 20(6): 1081–1090, 2013) for solutions to the cubic NLS on . Additionally, we obtain several results on generalizing the results of the case.

Abstract:In this paper we prove some results on the boundary behavior of solutions to fractional elliptic problems. Firstly, we establish a Hopf Lemma for solutions to some integro-differential equations. The main novelty of our result is that we do not assume any global condition on the sign of the solutions. Secondly, we show that non-trivial radial solutions cannot have infinitely many zeros accumulating at the boundary. We provide concrete examples to show that the results obtained are sharp.

Abstract:We consider the fractional Schrodinger equation with a logarithmic nonlinearity, when the power of the Laplacian is between zero and one. We prove global existence results in three different functional spaces: the Sobolev space corresponding to the quadratic form domain of the fractional Laplacian, the energy space, and a space contained in the operator domain of the fractional Laplacian. Abstract:We study nonnegative solutions to the Cauchy problem for the Fractional Fast Diffusion Equation on a suitable class of connected, noncompact Riemannian manifolds. This parabolic equation is both singular and nonlocal: the diffusion is driven by the (spectral) fractional Laplacian on the manifold, while the nonlinearity is a concave power makes the diffusion singular, so that solutions lose mass and may extinguish in finite time. Existence of mild solutions follows by nowadays standard nonlinear semigroups techniques, and we use these solutions as the building blocks for a more general class of so-called weak dual solutions, which allow for data both in the usual $L^1$ space and in a larger weighted space, determined in terms of the fractional Green function. We focus in particular on a priori smoothing estimates (also in weighted $L^p$ spaces) for a quite large class of weak dual solutions. We also show pointwise lower bounds for solutions, showing in particular that solutions have infinite speed of propagation. Finally, we start the study of how solutions extinguish in finite time, providing suitable sharp extinction rates.
