Abstract:We consider the Landau-Coulomb equation for initial data with bounded mass, finite numbers of moments, and entropy. We show the existence of a global weak solution that has bounded Fisher information for positive times. This solution is therefore a global strong solution away from the initial time. We propose an alternative approach, based on already existing estimates, to the study of the appearance of Fisher information recently performed by Ji in [12].

Abstract:We consider solutions to the space-homogeneous Landau equation with a general family of interaction potentials. We prove that their Fisher information is monotone decreasing in time. The class of interaction potentials covered by our result includes the case of the Landau equation with Coulomb interactions. As a consequence of the global boundedness of the Fisher information, we deduce that solutions to the space-homogeneous Landau equation never blow up.

Abstract:We establish an a priori estimate for the dissipation of the Fisher information for the space-homogeneous Landau equation with very soft potentials. This work is motivated by the recent breakthrough by Guillen and Silvestre, which proves that the Fisher information is monotone decreasing. As a direct consequence, we show that the Fisher information becomes instantaneously bounded, even if it is not initially bounded. This leads to a proof of the global existence of smooth solutions for the space-homogeneous Landau equation with very soft potentials, given initial data $f_0 \in L^1_{2-\gamma} \cap L \log L$. This result includes the case of the Coulomb potential.

Abstract:This paper focuses on establishing the existence of smooth solutions for the incompressible Landau–Lifshitz–Gilbert equation with Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya (DM) interaction and V flow in two‐dimensional domains, including the torus and Euclidean space. The primary objective is to establish global existence results by investigating the conditions under which a smooth solution exists for all time, provided that the L2 norm of the initial magnetization gradient is sufficiently small. Rigorous mathematical proofs for these global existence results are provided by combining analytical techniques and energy estimates. These findings enhance our understanding of solution behavior and regularity in the Landau–Lifshitz–Gilbert equation with DM interaction, shedding light on its dynamics in different spatial domains.

Abstract:We consider the homogeneous Landau equation in $\mathbb{R}^3$ with Coulomb potential and initial data in polynomially weighted $L^{3/2}$. We show that there exists a smooth solution that is bounded for all positive times. The proof is based on short-time regularization estimates for the Fisher information, which, combined with the recent result of Guillen and Silvestre, yields the existence of a global-in-time smooth solution. Additionally, if the initial data belongs to $L^p$ with $p>3/2$, there is a unique solution.

Abstract:By considering a general form of the Landau-Lifshitz equation under the influence of a homogeneous external magnetic fields, we prove that for a ferromagnetic body which occupies a bounded domain Ω in ℝ3 there exists a global weak solution either for the Dirichlet problem or for the Neumann problem. Although there is, in general, non-uniqueness result for the Landau-Lifshitz equation, the uniqueness result for the dynamic equation with constant initial data, which connects with the ground state of the magnetization in physical meanings, is pointed out.

Abstract:We establish the global existence and the asymptotic behavior for the 2D incompressible isotropic elastodynamics for sufficiently small, smooth initial data in the Eulerian coordinates formulation. The main tools used to derive the main results are, on the one hand, a modified energy method to derive the energy estimate and, on the other hand, a Fourier transform method with a suitable choice of Z-norm to derive the sharp $L^\infty $-estimate. We mention that the global existence of the same system but in the Lagrangian coordinates formulation was recently obtained by Lei (Global well-posedness of incompressible Elastodynamics in 2D, 2014). Our goal is to improve the understanding of the behavior of solutions. Also, we present a different approach to study 2D nonlinear wave equations from the point of view in frequency space.

Abstract:Motivated by the open problem of large-data global existence for the non-cutoff Boltzmann equation, we introduce a model equation that in some sense disregards the anisotropy of the Boltzmann collision kernel. We refer to this model equation as isotropic Boltzmann, by analogy with the isotropic Landau equation introduced by Krieger and Strain [Comm. Partial Differential Equations 37(4), 2012, 647--689]. The collision operator of our isotropic Boltzmann model converges to the isotropic Landau collision operator under a scaling limit that is analogous to the grazing collisions limit connecting (true) Boltzmann with (true) Landau. Our main result is global existence for the isotropic Boltzmann equation in the space homogeneous case, for certain parts of the "very soft potentials" regime in which global existence is unknown for the space homogeneous Boltzmann equation. The proof strategy is inspired by the work of Gualdani-Guillen [J. Funct. Anal. 283(6), 2022, Paper No. 109559] on isotropic Landau, and makes use of recent progress on weighted fractional Hardy inequalities.

Abstract:In this paper we prove the existence of global in time weak solutions for an evolutionary PDE system modelling nonisothermal Landau-de Gennes nematic liquid crystal (LC) flows in three dimensions of space. In our model, the incompressible Navier-Stokes system for the macroscopic velocity $\vu$ is coupled to a nonlinear convective parabolic equation describing the evolution of the Q-tensor $\QQ$, namely a tensor-valued variable representing the normalized second order moments of the probability distribution function of the LC molecules. The effects of the (absolute) temperature $\vt$ are prescribed in the form of an energy balance identity complemented with a global entropy production inequality. Compared to previous contributions, we can consider here the physically realistic singular configuration potential $f$ introduced by Ball and Majumdar. This potential gives rise to severe mathematical difficulties since it introduces, in the Q-tensor equation, a term which is at the same time singular in $\QQ$ and degenerate in $\vt$. To treat it a careful analysis of the properties of $f$, particularly of its blow-up rate, is carried out.

Abstract:We follow the idea of Wang \cite{W} to show the existence of global weak solutions to the Cauchy problems of Landau-Lifshtiz type equations and related heat flows from a $n$-dimensional Euclidean domain $\Om$ or a $n$-dimensional closed Riemannian manifold $M$ into a 2-dimensional unit sphere $\U^{2}$. Our conclusions extend a series of related results obtained in the previous literature.

Abstract:This paper addresses large-data local existence and uniqueness of classical solutions to the inhomogeneous Landau equation in the hard potentials case (including Maxwell molecules). Solutions have previously been constructed by Chaturvedi [SIAM J. Math. Anal., 55(5), 5345--5385, 2023] for initial data in an exponentially-weighted $H^{10}$ space, but it is not a priori clear whether these solutions have more regularity than the initial data. We improve Chaturvedi's existence result in two ways: our solutions are $C^\infty$ for positive times, and we allow initial data in a sub-exponentially-weighted $L^\infty$ space, at the cost of requiring a mild positivity condition at time zero. To prove uniqueness, we require stronger assumptions on the initial data: Hölder continuity and the absence of vacuum regions. These are the same assumptions that are required for uniqueness in prior work on the soft potentials case. Along the way to proving existence and uniqueness, we establish some useful results that were previously only known in the case of soft potentials, including spreading of positivity and propagation of Hölder continuity. Many of the proof strategies from the soft potentials case do not apply here because of the more severe loss of velocity moments.

Abstract:In this paper, we focus on the existence of strong solutions for the Cauchy problem of the three-dimensional Landau-Lifshitz-Slonczewski equation. We construct a new combination of Bourgain space and Lebesgue space where linear and nonlinear estimates can be closed by applying frequency decomposition and energy methods. Finally, we establish the existence and uniqueness of the global strong solution provided that the initial data belongs to Besov space $\dot{B}^{\frac{n}{2}}_{\Omega}$.

Abstract:We demonstrate that the spatially homogeneous Landau-Coulomb equation exhibits global existence and uniqueness around the space $H^{-\f12}_3\cap L^1_{7}\cap L\log L$. Additionally, we furnish several quantitative assessments regarding the smoothing estimates in weighted Sobolev spaces for various initial data configurations. Consequently, we confirm the conjecture that the solution possesses a $C^\infty$ smoothing effect in velocity variable for any positive time, similar to the heat equation, despite the initial data having only a polynomial tail.

Abstract:We study the anisotropic, incompressible Cahn-Hilliard-Navier-Stokes system with variable density in a bounded smooth domain $\Omega \subset \mathbb{R}^d$. This work extends previous studies on the isotropic case by incorporating anisotropic surface energy, represented by $\mathfrak{F}= \int_{\Omega} \frac{\epsilon}{2}\, \Gamma^2(\nabla \phi) $. The thermodynamic consistency of this system, as well as its modeling background and physical motivation, has been established in \cite{anderson2000phase, taylor-cahn98, zaidni2024}. Using a Galerkin approximation scheme, we prove the existence of global weak solutions in both two and three dimensions $(d=2,3)$. A crucial element in extending the existence of approximate solutions from local to global lies in the application of Bihari's inequality and a fixed-point argument.

Abstract:In this paper we prove an abstract result of almost global existence for small and smooth solutions of some semilinear PDEs on Riemannian manifolds with globally integrable geodesic flow. Some examples of such manifolds are Lie groups (including flat tori), homogeneous spaces and rotational invariant surfaces. As applications of the abstract result we prove almost global existence for a nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a convolution potential and for a nonlinear beam equation. We also prove $H^s$ stability of the ground state in NLS equation. The proof is based on a normal form procedure.
