Abstract:Recent advances in mathematical inequalities suggest that bounds of polynomial-exponential-type are appropriate for evaluating key trigonometric functions. In this paper, we innovate in this sense by establishing new and sharp bounds of the form (1−αx2)eβx2 for the trigonometric sinc and cosine functions. Our main result for the sinc function is a double inequality holding on the interval (0, π), while our main result for the cosine function is a double inequality holding on the interval (0, π/2). Comparable sharp results for hyperbolic functions are also obtained. The proofs are based on series expansions, inequalities on the Bernoulli numbers, and the monotone form of the l’Hospital rule. Some comparable bounds of the literature are improved. Examples of application via integral techniques are given.

Abstract:Various miscellaneous functional inequalities are deduced for the so-called generalized inverse trigonometric and hyperbolic functions. For instance, functional inequalities for sums, difference and quotient of generalized inverse trigonometric and hyperbolic functions are given, as well as some Grünbaum inequalities with the aid of the classical Bernoulli inequality. Moreover, by means of certain already derived bounds, bilateral bounding inequalities are obtained for the generalized hypergeometric ${}_3F_2$ Clausen function.

Abstract:Here, we study the extension of p-trigonometric functions sinp and cosp family in complex domains and p-hyperbolic functions sinhp and the coshp family in hyperbolic complex domains. These functions satisfy analogous relations as their classical counterparts with some unknown properties. We show the relationship of these two classes of special functions viz. p-trigonometric and p-hyperbolic functions with imaginary arguments. We also show many properties and identities related to the analogy between these two groups of functions. Further, we extend the research bridging the concepts of hyperbolic and elliptical complex numbers to show the properties of logarithmic functions with complex arguments.

Abstract: The $p-$Bergman kernel $K_p(\cdot)$ is shown to be of $C^{1,1/2}$ for $1<p<\infty$. An unexpected relation between the off-diagonal $p-$Bergman kernel $K_p(\cdot,z)$ and certain weighted $L^2$ Bergman kernel is given for $1\le p\le 2$. As applications, we show that for each $1\le p\le 2$, $K_p(\cdot,z)\in L^q(\Omega)$ for $q< \frac{2pn}{2n-\alpha(\Omega)}$ and $|K_s(z)-K_p(z)| \lesssim |s-p||\log |s-p||$ whenever the hyperconvexity index $\alpha(\Omega)$ is positive. Counterexamples for $2<p<\infty$ are given respectively. An optimal upper bound for the holomorphic sectional curvature of the $p-$Bergman metric when $2\le p<\infty$ is obtained. For bounded $C^2$ domains, it is shown that the Hardy space and the Bergman space satisfy $H^p(\Omega)\subset A^q(\Omega)$ where $q=p(1+\frac1n)$. A new concept so-called the $p-$Schwarz content is introduced. As applications, upper bounds of the Banach-Mazur distance between $p-$Bergman spaces are given, and $A^p(\Omega)$ is shown to be non-Chebyshev in $L^p(\Omega)$ for $0<p\le 1$. For planar domains, we obtain a rigidity theorem for the $p-$Bergman kernel (which is not valid in high dimensional cases), and a characterization of non-isolated boundary points through completeness of the Narasimhan-Simha metric.

In these papers authors refine the inequalities of trigonometric and hyperbolic functions such as Adamovic-Mitrinovic inequality, Cusa-Huygens inequality, Lazarevic inequality, Huygens inequality, Jordan's inequality, Carlson's inequality, Wilker's inequality, Redheffer's inequality, Wilker-Anglesio inequality, Becker-Stark inequality, Kober's inequality, Shafer's inequality and Shafer-Fink's inequality. The relation between trigonometric and hyperbolic functions has been built too. In the last paper, the sharp upper and lower bounds for the classical beta function has been established by studying the Jordan's inequality.

First Eigenvalue Estimates for Asymptotically Hyperbolic Manifolds and their Submanifolds

Abstract:We derive a sharp upper bound for the first eigenvalue $\lambda_{1,p}$ of the $p$-Laplacian on asymptotically hyperbolic manifolds for $1<p<\infty$. We then prove that a particular class of conformally compact submanifolds within asymptotically hyperbolic manifolds are themselves asymptotically hyperbolic. As a corollary, we show that for any minimal conformally compact submanifold $Y^{k+1}$ within $\mathbb{H}^{n+1}(-1)$, $\lambda_{1,p}(Y)=\left(\frac{k}{p}\right)^{p}$. We then obtain lower bounds on $\lambda_{1,2}(Y)$ in the case where minimality is replaced with a bounded mean curvature assumption and where the ambient space is a general Poincaré-Einstein space whose conformal infinity is of non-negative Yamabe type. In the process, we introduce an invariant $\hat \beta^Y$ for each such submanifold, enabling us to generalize a result due to Cheung-Leung.

Abstract:Chernoff bound is a fundamental tool in theoretical computer science. It has been extensively used in randomized algorithm design and stochastic type analysis. Discrepancy theory, which deals with finding a bi-coloring of a set system such that the coloring of each set is balanced, has a huge number of applications in approximation algorithms design. Chernoff bound [Che52] implies that a random bi-coloring of any set system with $n$ sets and $n$ elements will have discrepancy $O(\sqrt{n \log n})$ with high probability, while the famous result by Spencer [Spe85] shows that there exists an $O(\sqrt{n})$ discrepancy solution. The study of hyperbolic polynomials dates back to the early 20th century when used to solve PDEs by Gårding [Går59]. In recent years, more applications are found in control theory, optimization, real algebraic geometry, and so on. In particular, the breakthrough result by Marcus, Spielman, and Srivastava [MSS15] uses the theory of hyperbolic polynomials to prove the Kadison-Singer conjecture [KS59], which is closely related to discrepancy theory. In this paper, we present a list of new results for hyperbolic polynomials: * We show two nearly optimal hyperbolic Chernoff bounds: one for Rademacher sum of arbitrary vectors and another for random vectors in the hyperbolic cone. * We show a hyperbolic anti-concentration bound. * We generalize the hyperbolic Kadison-Singer theorem [Brä18] for vectors in sub-isotropic position, and prove a hyperbolic Spencer theorem for any constant hyperbolic rank vectors. The classical matrix Chernoff and discrepancy results are based on determinant polynomial. To the best of our knowledge, this paper is the first work that shows either concentration or anti-concentration results for hyperbolic polynomials. We hope our findings provide more insights into hyperbolic and discrepancy theories.

Abstract:To compute the hyperbolicity constant is an almost intractable problem, thus it is natural to try to bound it in terms of some parameters of the graph. Let $\mathcal{G}(g,c,n)$ be the set of graphs $G$ with girth $g(G)=g$, circumference $c(G)=c$, and $n$ vertices; and let $\mathcal{H}(g,c,m)$ be the set of graphs with girth $g$, circumference $c$, and $m$ edges. In this work, we study the four following extremal problems on graphs: $A(g,c,n)=\min\{\delta(G)\,|\; G \in \mathcal{G}(g,c,n) \}$, $B(g,c,n)=\max\{\delta(G)\,|\; G \in \mathcal{G}(g,c,n) \}$, $\alpha(g,c,m)=\min\{\delta(G)\,|\; \in \mathcal{H}(g,c,m) \}$ and $\beta(g,c,m)=\max\{\delta(G)\,|\; G \in \mathcal{H}(g,c,m) \}$. In particular, we obtain bounds for $A(g,c,n)$ and $\alpha(g,c,m)$, and we compute the precise value of $B(g,c,n)$ and $\beta(g,c,m)$ for all values of $g$, $c$, $n$ and $m$.

Abstract:We introduce a new unified extension of the integral form of Euler's beta function with a MacDonald function in the integrand and establish functional upper bounds for it. We use this definition to extend as well the Gaussian and Kummer's confluent hypergeometric functions, for which we provide bounding inequalities. Moreover, we use our extension of the beta function to define a new probability distribution, for which we establish raw moments and moment inequalities and, as by-products, Turán inequalities for the initially defined extended beta function.

Abstract:We give a sufficient criterion for the hyperbolicity of a homoclinic class. More precisely, if the homoclinic class H(p) admits a partially hyperbolic splitting T-H(p) M = E-s circle plus(<) F, where E-s is uniformly contracting and dim E-s = ind(p), and all periodic points homoclinically related with p are uniformly E-u-expanding at the period, then H(p) is hyperbolic. Abstract:In the first part of this paper, we establish some results around generalized Borel's Theorem. As an application, in the second part, we construct example of smooth surface of degree $d\geq 19$ in $\mathbb{CP}^3$ whose complements is hyperbolically embedded in $\mathbb{CP}^3$. This improves the previous construction of Shirosaki where the degree bound $d=31$ was gave. In the last part, for a Fermat-Waring type hypersurface $D$ in $\mathbb{CP}^n$ defined by the homogeneous polynomial \[ \sum_{i=1}^m h_i^d, \] where $m,n,d$ are positive integers with $m\geq 3n-1$ and $d\geq m^2-m+1$, where $h_i$ are homogeneous generic linear forms on $\mathbb{C}^{n+1}$, for a nonconstant holomorphic function $f\colon\mathbb{C}\rightarrow\mathbb{CP}^n$ whose image is not contained in the support of $D$, we establish a Second Main Theorem type estimate: \[ \big(d-m(m-1)\big)\,T_f(r)\leq N_f^{[m-1]}(r,D)+S_f(r). \] This quantifies the hyperbolicity result due to Shiffman-Zaidenberg and Siu-Yeung.

Abstract:We prove a general perturbation theorem that can be used to obtain pairs of nontrivial solutions of a wide range of local and nonlocal nonhomogeneous elliptic problems. Applications to critical p-Laplacian problems, p-Laplacian problems with critical Hardy-Sobolev exponents, critical fractional p-Laplacian problems, and critical ( p , q ) -Laplacian problems are given. Our results are new even in the semilinear case p = 2 .

Abstract:Let $ F$ be a real valued generalized biaxially symmetric potentials (GBASP) defined on the Caratheodory domain on $ C^N$. Let $ L_\mu^p(D)$ be the class of all functions $ F$ holomorphic on $ D$ such that $ \parallel F\parallel_{D,p}=[\int_D\mid F\mid^pd\mu]^{1\over p}$. Where $ \mu$ is the positive finite, Boral measure with regular asymptotic distribution on $ C^N$. For $ F\in L_{\mu}^p(D)$, set $ E_n^p(F)=\inf\{\parallel F-P\parallel_{D,p}:P\in H_n\}$, $ H_n$ consist of all real biaxisymmetric harmonic polynomials of degree at most $ 2n$. The paper deals with the growth of entire function GBASP in terms of approximation error in $ L_{\mu}^p$-norm on $ D$. The analysis utilizes the Bergman and Gilbert integral operator method to extend results from classical function theory on the best polynomial approximation of analytic functions of several complex variables. Finally we prove a generalized decomposition theorem in a new way. The paper is the generalization of the concepts of generalized growth parameters to entire functions on Caratheodory domains on $ C^N$ (instead of entire holomorphic functions on $ C$) for slow growth.

Abstract:This work studies optimal polynomial approximants (OPAs) in the classical Hardy spaces on the unit disk, $H^p$ ($1 < p < \infty$). In particular, we uncover some estimates concerning the OPAs of degree zero and one. It is also shown that if $f \in H^p$ is an inner function, or if $p>2$ is an even integer, then the roots of the nontrivial OPA for $1/f$ are bounded from the origin by a distance depending only on $p$. For $p\neq 2$, these results are made possible by the novel use of a family of inequalities which are derived from a Banach space analogue of the Pythagorean theorem.

Abstract:Communications in Contemporary Mathematics, Ahead of Print. This paper deals with global compactness and the multiplicity of positive solutions to problems of the type −ΔBNu − λu = a(x)|u|2∗−2u + f(x)in BN, u ∈ H1(BN), where [math] denotes the ball model of the hyperbolic space of dimension [math], [math], [math] and [math] ([math]) is a nonnegative functional in the dual space of [math]. The potential [math] is assumed to be strictly positive, such that [math], where [math] denotes the geodesic distance. We establish profile decomposition of the functional associated with the above equation. We show that concentration occurs along two different profiles, namely, hyperbolic bubbles and localized Aubin–Talenti bubbles. For [math] and [math], profile decomposition was studied in Bhakta and Sandeep [Poincaré–Sobolev equations in the hyperbolic space, Calc. Var. Partial Differential Equations 44 (2012) 247–269]. However, due to the presence of the potential [math], an extension of profile decomposition to the present set-up is highly nontrivial and requires several delicate estimates and geometric arguments concerning the isometry group (Möbius group) of the hyperbolic space. Further, using the decomposition result, we derive various energy estimates involving the interacting hyperbolic bubbles and hyperbolic bubbles with localized Aubin–Talenti bubbles. Finally, combining these estimates with topological and variational arguments, we establish a multiplicity of positive solutions in the cases: [math] and [math] separately. The equation studied in this paper can be thought of as a variant of a scalar-field equation with a critical exponent in the hyperbolic space, although such a critical exponent problem in the Euclidean space [math] has only a trivial solution when [math] [math] and [math]

Abstract:We prove sharp uniform $L^p$-bounds for low-lying eigenfunctions of non-self-adjoint semiclassical pseudodifferential operators $P$ on $\mathbb{R}^{n}$ whose principal symbols are doubly-characteristic at the origin of $\mathbb{R}^{2n}$. Our bounds hold under two main assumptions on $P$: (1) the total symbol of $P$ extends holomorphically to a neighborhood of $\mathbb{R}^{2n}$ in $\mathbb{C}^{2n}$, and (2) the quadratic approximation to the principal symbol of $P$ at the origin is elliptic along its singular space. Most notably, our assumptions on the quadratic approximation are less restrictive than those made in prior works, and our main theorem improves the already known results in the case when the symbol of $P$ is analytic.
