Abstract:We present BHAC-QGP, a new numerical code to simulate the evolution of matter created in heavy-ion collisions in the presence of electromagnetic fields. It is derived from the Black Hole Accretion Code (BHAC), which has been designed to model astrophysical processes in a general-relativistic magnetohydrodynamical description. As the original Black Hole Accretion Code, BHAC-QGP benefits from the use of Adaptive Mesh Refinement (AMR), which allows us to dynamically adjust the resolution where necessary, and makes use of time-dependent Milne coordinates and the ultrarelativistic equation of state, $P = e/3$. We demonstrate that BHAC-QGP accurately passes a number of systematic and rigorous tests.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is the evolution of quark - gluon plasma (QGP) generated during heavy - ion collisions in a strong electromagnetic field. Specifically, the paper introduces a new numerical code named BHAC - QGP, which is used to simulate the evolution process of matter in heavy - ion collisions in the presence of an electromagnetic field. These problems include: 1. **Influence of strong electromagnetic fields**: Heavy - ion collisions can generate the strongest magnetic fields in the universe, and these fields may have a significant impact on the dynamics of QGP, for example, by inducing charge currents or triggering the so - called "Chiral Magnetic Effect" (CME) and "Chiral Vortical Effect" (CVE). 2. **Hydrodynamic simulations**: Use the relativistic magnetohydrodynamics (RMHD) equations to describe the behavior of QGP, especially the vortex effect and chiral effect produced in non - central collisions. These effects require high - precision numerical simulation methods to be accurately captured. 3. **Improvement of numerical methods**: A new numerical code BHAC - QGP has been developed. This code is based on the Black Hole Accretion Code (BHAC) and has been adaptively improved to handle special conditions in heavy - ion collisions, such as adaptive mesh refinement (AMR), time - dependent Milne coordinates, and the ultra - relativistic equation of state. 4. **Verification and testing**: The paper shows that BHAC - QGP can pass a series of systematic and strict tests, proving its accuracy and reliability in simulating QGP dynamics. In summary, the main goal of this paper is to provide a powerful numerical tool to more accurately understand and simulate the complex behavior of QGP in heavy - ion collisions in a strong electromagnetic field. This not only contributes to theoretical research but also provides important support for the interpretation of experimental data.
