Abstract:In this article, we study the hyperbolic Anderson model in dimension 1, driven by a time-independent rough noise, i.e. the noise associated with the fractional Brownian motion of Hurst index $H \in (1/4,1/2)$. We prove that, with appropriate normalization and centering, the spatial integral of the solution converges in distribution to the standard normal distribution, and we estimate the speed of this convergence in the total variation distance. We also prove the corresponding functional limit result. Our method is based on a version of the second-order Gaussian Poincaré inequality developed recently in [27], and relies on delicate moment estimates for the increments of the first and second Malliavin derivatives of the solution. These estimates are obtained using a connection with the wave equation with delta initial velocity, a method which is different than the one used in [27] for the parabolic Anderson model.

Abstract:In this note we focus our attention on a stochastic heat equation defined on the Heisenberg group H n of order n. This equation is written as ∂ t u = 1 2 Δ u + u W ˙ α , where Δ is the hypoelliptic Laplacian on H n and { W ˙ α ; α > 0 } is a family of Gaussian space-time noises which are white in time and have a covariance structure generated by ( − Δ ) − α in space. Our aim is threefold: (i) Give a proper description of the noise W α ; (ii) Prove that one can solve the stochastic heat equation in the Itô sense as soon as α > n 2 ; (iii) Give some basic moment estimates for the solution u ( t , x ) .

Abstract:In this paper, we consider fractional parabolic equation of the form $ \frac{\partial u}{\partial t}=-(-\Delta)^{\frac{\alpha}{2}}u+u\dot W(t,x)$, where $-(-\Delta)^{\frac{\alpha}{2}}$ with $\alpha\in(0,2]$ is a fractional Laplacian and $\dot W$ is a Gaussian noise colored in space and time. The precise moment Lyapunov exponents for the Stratonovich solution and the Skorohod solution are obtained by using a variational inequality and a Feynman-Kac type large deviation result for space-time Hamiltonians driven by $\alpha$-stable process. As a byproduct, we obtain the critical values for $\theta$ and $\eta$ such that $\mathbb{E}\exp\left(\theta\left(\int_0^1 \int_0^1 |r-s|^{-\beta_0}\gamma(X_r-X_s)drds\right)^\eta\right)$ is finite, where $X$ is $d$-dimensional symmetric $\alpha$-stable process and $\gamma(x)$ is $|x|^{-\beta}$ or $\prod_{j=1}^d|x_j|^{-\beta_j}$.

Abstract:This short note is devoted to establishing the almost sure central limit theorem for the parabolic/hyperbolic Anderson models driven by colored-in-time Gaussian noises, completing recent results on quantitative central limit theorems for stochastic partial differential equations. We combine the second-order Gaussian Poincaré inequality with Ibragimov and Lifshits' method of characteristic functions, effectively overcoming the challenge from the lack of Itô tools in this colored-in-time setting, and achieving results that are inaccessible with previous methods.

Abstract:In this paper, we present an almost sure central limit theorem (ASCLT) for the hyperbolic Anderson model (HAM) with a Lévy white noise in a finite-variance setting, complementing a recent work by Balan and Zheng (\emph{Trans.~Amer.~Math.~Soc.}, 2024) on the (quantitative) central limit theorems for the solution to the HAM. We provide two different proofs: one uses the Clark-Ocone formula and takes advantage of the martingale structure of the white-in-time noise, while the other is obtained by combining the second-order Gaussian Poincaré inequality with Ibragimov and Lifshits' method of characteristic functions. Both approaches are different from the one developed in the PhD thesis of C. Zheng (2011), allowing us to establish the ASCLT without lengthy computations of star contractions. Moreover, the second approach is expected to be useful for similar studies on SPDEs with colored-in-time noises, whereas the former, based on Itô calculus, is not applicable.

On some stochastic hyperbolic equations with symplectic characteristics

Abstract:We study the effect of Gaussian perturbations on a class of model hyperbolic partial differential equations with double symplectic characteristics in low spatial dimensions, extending some recent work in [5]. The coefficients of our partial differential operators contain harmonic oscillators in the space variables, while the noise is additive, white in time and colored in space. We provide sufficient conditions on the spectral measure of the covariance functional describing the noise that allows for the existence of a random field solution for the resulting stochastic partial differential equation. Furthermore we show how the symplectic structure of the set of multiple points affects the regularity of the noise needed to build a measurable process solution. Our approach is based on some explicit computations for the fundamental solutions of several model partial differential operators together with their explicit Fourier transforms.

Abstract:This paper attempts to obtain necessary and sufficient conditions to solve the parabolic Anderson model with fractional Gaussian noises: $\frac{\partial}{\partial t}u(t,x)=\frac{1}{2}\Delta u(t,x)+u(t,x)\dot{W}(t,x)$, where $ {W}(t,x)$ is the fractional Brownian field with temporal Hurst parameter $H_0\in [1/2, 1) $ and spatial Hurst parameters $H$ $ =(H_1, \cdots, H_d)$ $ \in (0, 1)^d$, and $\dot{W}(t,x)=\frac{\partial ^{d+1}}{\partial t \partial x_1 \cdots \partial x_d}W(t,x)$. When $d=1$ and when $(H_0,H)\in(\frac 12,1)\times(\frac 1{20},\frac 12)$ we show that the condition $2H_0+H>5/2$ is necessary and sufficient to ensure the existence of a unique solution for the parabolic Anderson Model. When $d\ge 2$, we find the necessary and sufficient condition on the Hurst parameters so that each chaos of the solution candidate is square integrable.

Abstract:This paper extends the model reduction method by the operator projection to the one-dimensional special relativistic Boltzmann equation. The derivation of arbitrary order globally hyperbolic moment system is built on our careful study of two families of the complicate Grad type orthogonal polynomials depending on a parameter. We derive their recurrence relations, calculate their derivatives with respect to the independent variable and parameter respectively, and study their zeros and coefficient matrices in the recurrence formulas. Some properties of the moment system are also proved. They include the eigenvalues and their bound as well as eigenvectors, hyperbolicity, characteristic fields, linear stability, and Lorentz covariance. A semi-implicit numerical scheme is presented to solve a Cauchy problem of our hyperbolic moment system in order to verify the convergence behavior of the moment method. The results show that the solutions of our hyperbolic moment system converge to the solution of the special relativistic Boltzmann equation as the order of the hyperbolic moment system increases.

Abstract:We study the effect of curvature on the Parabolic Anderson model by posing it over a Cartan-Hadamard manifold. We first construct a family of noises white in time and colored in space parameterized by a regularity parameter $\alpha$, which we use to explore regularity requirements for well-posedness. Then, we show that conditions on the heat kernel imply an exponential in time upper bound for the moments of the solution, and a lower bound for sectional curvature imply a corresponding lower bound. These results hold if the noise is strong enough, where the needed strength of the noise is affected by sectional curvature.

Abstract:We study the long time Schrödinger evolution of Lagrangian states $f_h$ on a compact Riemannian manifold $(X,g)$ of negative sectional curvature. We consider two models of semiclassical random Schrödinger operators $P_h^\alpha=-h^2\Delta_g +h^\alpha Q_\omega$, $0<\alpha\leq 1$, where the semiclassical Laplace-Beltrami operator $-h^2\Delta_g$ on $X$ is subject to a small random perturbation $h^\alpha Q_\omega$ given by either a random potential or a random pseudo-differential operator. Here, the potential or the symbol of $Q_\omega$ is bounded, but oscillates and decorrelates at scale $h^{\beta}$, $0< \beta < \frac{1}{2}$. We prove a quantitative result that, under appropriate conditions on $\alpha,\beta$, in probability with respect to $\omega$ the long time propagation $$\mathrm{e}^{\frac{i}{h}t_h P_h^\alpha } f_h, \quad o(|\log h|)=t_h\to\infty, ~~h\to 0,$$ rescaled to the local scale of $h$ around a uniformly at random chosen point $x_0$ on $X$, converges in law to an isotropic stationary monochromatic Gaussian field -- the Berry Gaussian field. We also provide and $\omega$-almost sure version of this convergence along sufficiently fast decaying subsequences $h_j\to 0$.

Abstract:We present a systematic treatment of non-Gaussianity in stochastic systems using the Schwinger-Keldysh effective field theory framework, in which the non-Gaussianity is realized as nonlinear terms in the fluctuation field. We establish two stochastic formulations of the Schwinger-Keldysh effective field theory, with those nonlinear terms manifested as multiple non-Gaussian noises in the Langevin equation and as higher order diffusive terms in the Fokker-Planck equation. The equivalence of the stochastic formulations with the original Schwinger-Keldysh effective field theory is demonstrated with nontrivial examples for arbitrary non-Gaussian parameters. The stochastic formulations will be more flexible and effective in studying nonequilibrium dynamics. Abstract:We study the parabolic defocusing stochastic quantization equation with both mutliplicative spatial white noise and an independant space-time white noise forcing, on compact surfaces, with polynomial nonlinearity. After renormalizing the nonlinearity, we construct the random Gibbs measure as an absolutely continuous measure with respect to the law of the Anderson Gaussian Free Field for fixed realization of the spatial white noise. Then, when the initial data is distributed according to the Gibbs measure, we prove almost sure global well-posedness for the dynamics and invariance of the Gibbs measure.

Abstract:In this paper, we study spatial averages for the parabolic Anderson model in the Skorohod sense driven by rough Gaussian noise, which is colored in space and time. We include the case of a fractional noise with Hurst parameters $H_0$ in time and $H_1$ in space, satisfying $H_0 \in (1/2,1)$, $H_1\in (0,1/2)$ and $H_0 + H_1 > 3/4$. Our main result is a functional central limit theorem for the spatial averages. As an important ingredient of our analysis, we present a Feynman-Kac formula that is new for these values of the Hurst parameters.
