Abstract:We introduce Quantum Time-Frequency Analysis, which expands the approach of Quantum Harmonic Analysis to include modulations of operators in addition to translations. This is done by a projective representation of double-phase space, and we consider the associated matrix coefficients and integrated representation. This leads to the polarised Cohen's class, which is an isomorphism from Hilbert-Schmidt operators to a reproducing kernel Hilbert space, and has orthogonality relations similar to many objects in classical time-frequency analysis. By considering a class of windows for the polarised Cohen's class that is smaller than the class of Hilbert-Schmidt operators, then we find spaces of modulation spaces of operators, and we consider the properties of these spaces, including discretisation results and mapping properties between function modulation spaces. We also compare modulation spaces of operators to known symbol classes for pseudodifferential operators. In many cases, using rank-one examples of operators, we recover familiar objects and results from classical time-frequency analysis and the theory of pseudodifferential operators.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is to expand the methods of Quantum Harmonic Analysis (QHA) by introducing Quantum Time - Frequency Analysis (QTFA) to include the modulation and translation of operators. Specifically, the main contributions of the paper are as follows: 1. **Introduction of Quantum Time - Frequency Analysis**: - Through the projection representation in the two - phase space, the paper introduces the concept of Quantum Time - Frequency Analysis. This representation combines the translation and modulation of operators, thus expanding the traditional time - frequency analysis methods. - A new representation \(\gamma_{w,z}(S)=\pi(z)S\pi(w)^*\) is defined, where \(S\) is a Hilbert - Schmidt operator, and \(\pi(z)\) and \(\pi(w)\) are the actions of the phase - space points \(z\) and \(w\) in the Schrödinger representation respectively. 2. **Polarised Cohen’s Class**: - The Polarised Cohen’s Class is introduced, which is an isomorphic mapping from Hilbert - Schmidt operators to reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces and has orthogonality relations similar to many objects in classical time - frequency analysis. - The Polarised Cohen’s Class is defined as \(Q_S^T(w,z)=\langle T,\gamma_{w,z}(S)\rangle_{HS}\), where \(S\) and \(T\) are both Hilbert - Schmidt operators. 3. **Properties of Modulation Spaces**: - The properties of modulation spaces are studied, including discretization results and mapping properties between function modulation spaces. - The modulation spaces of operators are compared with the known symbol classes of pseudo - differential operators. 4. **Frame Construction**: - Since the translation of operators cannot form a discrete frame on the lattice, the paper constructs a frame through the time - frequency translation \(\gamma_{\lambda,\mu}(S)\). - In particular, the Feichtinger operator \(M_1\) plays an important role in this frame. 5. **Linear Mappings and Localization Operators**: - The behavior of operators on modulation spaces as linear mappings is studied, and the definition of localization operators is given. - The equivalence between localization operators and Toeplitz operators on reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces is proved. 6. **Relationship between Weyl Symbols and Modulation**: - The variation laws of the Weyl symbols of operators under modulation and translation are studied in detail. - Through these variation laws, some important identities are derived, such as the generalized form of the Moyal identity in Quantum Time - Frequency Analysis. In summary, by introducing Quantum Time - Frequency Analysis, this paper expands the methods of Quantum Harmonic Analysis, providing a new tool to study the time - frequency characteristics of operators, which is of great significance especially in the study of modulation spaces and pseudo - differential operators.
