Abstract:We determine the sharp constants for the fractional Sobolev inequalities associated with the conformally invariant fractional powers $\mathcal{L}_{s}(0<s<1)$ of the sublaplacian on H-type groups. From these inequalities we derive a sharp log-Sobolev inequality by considering a limiting case and a sharp Sobolev trace inequality. The later extends to this context the result of Frank, González, Monticelli and Tan (Adv. Math, 2015).

Abstract:In this paper, we review some recent works on sharp fractional inequalities on nilpotent Lie groups, studying their sharp constants, extremizers, stability and other improvements. We also prove a new sharp subcritical inequality in Section sub . The conformal symmetry, compactness, spectral estimates and flow methods are discussed. We remark that a positivity-type restriction on the singular exponent is required in cases for groups with high dimensional centres, which brings extra difficulty.

Abstract:We show that, when $sp>N$, the sharp Hardy constant $\mathfrak{h}_{s,p}$ of the punctured space $\mathbb R^N\setminus\{0\}$ in the Sobolev-Slobodecki\uı space provides an optimal lower bound for the Hardy constant $\mathfrak{h}_{s,p}(\Omega)$ of an open $\Omega\subsetneq \mathbb R^N$. The proof exploits the characterization of Hardy's inequality in the fractional setting in terms of positive local weak supersolutions of the relevant Euler-Lagrange equation and relies on the construction of suitable supersolutions by means of the distance function from the boundary of $\Omega$. Moreover, we compute the limit of $\mathfrak{h}_{s,p}$ as $s\nearrow 1$, as well as the limit when $p \nearrow \infty$. Finally, we apply our results to establish a lower bound for the non-local eigenvalue $\lambda_{s,p}(\Omega)$ in terms of $\mathfrak{h}_{s,p}$ when $sp>N$, which, in turn, gives an improved Cheeger inequality whose constant does not vanish as $p\nearrow \infty$.

Abstract:In this paper we consider the attainability of the optimal constant associated to the fractional Hardy-Sobolev type embedding which is defined as where , and , , the latter being the best constant in the fractional Hardy inequality on , is the fractional critical Sobolev exponent. The technique that we use to prove the existence of extremals for is based on blow-up analysis argument combined with a variational method. Further, as an application of the inequality, we prove an existence result for the critical fractional -Laplacian equation with Hardy potential and involving continuous nonlinearities having quasicritical growth.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove capacitary versions of the fractional Sobolev--Poincaré inequalities. We characterize localized variant of the boundary fractional Sobolev--Poincaré inequalities through uniform fatness condition of the domain in $\mathbb{R}^n$. Existence type results on the fractional Hardy inequality are established in the supercritical case $sp>n$ for $s\in(0,1)$, $p>1$. Characterization of the fractional Hardy inequality through weak supersolution of the associate problem is also addressed.

Abstract:We establish some sharp affine weighted L 2 Sobolev inequalities on the upper half space, which involves a divergent operator with degeneracy on the boundary. Moreover, for some certain exponents cases, we also characterize the extremal functions and best constants. Our approach only relies on the L 2 structure of gradient norm, affine invariance and a class of weighted L 2 Sobolev inequality on the upper half space. This is a simple approach which does not depend on the geometric structure of Euclidean space such as Brunn–Minkowski theory on convex geometry.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the sharp constants of quantitative Hardy and Rellich inequalities on nonreversible Finsler manifolds equipped with arbitrary measures. In particular, these inequalities can be globally refined by adding remainder terms like the Brezis–Vázquez improvement, if Finsler manifolds are of strictly negative flag curvature, vanishing S-curvature and finite uniformity constant. Furthermore, these results remain valid when Finsler metrics are reversible.

Abstract:It is shown that the sharp constant in the Hardy-Sobolev-Maz'ya inequality on the three dimensional upper half space is given by the Sobolev constant. This is achieved by a duality argument relating the problem to a Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev type inequality whose sharp constant is determined as well.

Sharp Hardy inequalities involving distance functions from submanifolds of Riemannian manifolds

Abstract:We establish various Hardy inequalities involving the distance function from submanifolds of Riemannian manifolds, where the natural weights are expressed in terms of bounds of the mean curvature of the submanifold and sectional/Ricci curvature of the ambient Riemannian manifold. Our approach is based on subtle Heintze-Karcher-type Laplace comparisons of the distance function and on a D'Ambrosio-Dipierro-type weak divergence formula for suitable vector fields, providing Barbatis-Filippas-Tertikas-type Hardy inequalities in the curved setting. Under very mild assumptions, we also establish the sharpness and non-existence of extremal functions within the Hardy inequalities and - depending on the geometry of the ambient manifold - their extensibility to various function spaces. Several examples are provided by showing the applicability of our approach; in particular, well-known Hardy inequalities appear as limit cases of our new inequalities.

Abstract:We extend the work of Dyda and Kijaczko by establishing the corresponding weighted fractional Hardy inequalities with singularities on any flat submanifolds. While they derived weighted fractional Hardy inequalities with singularities at a point and on a half-space, we generalize these results to handle singularities on any flat submanifold of codimension $k$, where $1<k<d$. Furthermore, we also address the critical case $sp=k+\alpha+ \beta$ and establish weighted fractional Hardy inequality with appropriate logarithmic weight function.

Abstract:We show a convergence result of the fractional Laplacian for sequences of nonnegative functions without uniform boundedness near infinity. As an application, we construct a sequence of solutions to the fractional Nirenberg problem that blows up in the region where the prescribed functions are negative. This is a different phenomenon from the classical Nirenberg problem.

Abstract:We investigate the weighted fractional order Hardy inequality $$ \int_{\Omega}\int_{\Omega}\frac{|f(x)-f(y)|^{p}}{|x-y|^{d+sp}}\text{dist}(x,\partial\Omega)^{-\alpha}\text{dist}(y,\partial\Omega)^{-\beta}\,dy\,dx\geq C\int_{\Omega}\frac{|f(x)|^{p}}{\text{dist}(x,\partial\Omega)^{sp+\alpha+\beta}}\,dx, $$ for $\Omega=\mathbb{R}^{d-1}\times(0,\infty)$, $\Omega$ being a convex domain or $\Omega=\mathbb{R}^d\setminus\{0\}$. Our work focuses on finding the best (i.e. sharp) constant $C=C(d,s,p,\alpha,\beta)$ in all cases. We also obtain weighted version of the fractional Hardy-Sobolev-Maz'ya inequality. The proofs are based on general Hardy inequalities and the non-linear ground state representation, established by Frank and Seiringer.

Abstract:We give a partial negative answer to a question left open in a previous work by Brasco and the first and third-named authors concerning the sharp constant in the fractional Hardy inequality on convex sets. Our approach has a geometrical flavor and equivalently reformulates the sharp constant in the limit case $p=1$ as the Cheeger constant for the fractional perimeter and the Lebesgue measure with a suitable weight. As a by-product, we obtain new lower bounds on the sharp constant in the $1$-dimensional case, even for non-convex sets, some of which optimal in the case $p=1$.

Abstract:Using the concept of fractional derivatives of Riemann$-$Liouville on time scales, we first introduce right fractional Sobolev spaces and characterize them. Then, we prove the equivalence of some norms in the introduced spaces, and obtain their completeness, reflexivity, separability and some imbeddings. Finally, as an application, we propose a recent method to study the existence of weak solutions of fractional boundary value problems on time scales by using variational method and critical point theory, and by constructing an appropriate variational setting, we obtain two existence results of the problem.
